I lost a lot of faith in the game when cosmetic progression was thrown out the window.
Anet, will you survive this loss too?
I am sure they will be fine, after all they can just continue to nerf the game to get people to buy more gems.
Yes, you’re the last protector of the infamous “gem-blockade”, stopping people from buying gems. When you quit… all hope is gone.
Anet will continue on their evil plan of nerfing the game. They will stop the “gem-blockade”. And people will buy gems again… oh, the horror!
PLEASE, don’t leave us! Our hero!
Who are you? And why should i care?
This is the official forum. So you must be some extraordinary person since you made a thread here about you leaving an MMO for us all to read, instead of posting feedback to the devs.
You got almost 1500 hours of play out of GW2. I think you got your money’s worth of content.
Time spent/invested is -NOT- the same as ‘’quality or money’s worth’’ at all, and who ever think otherwise is delusional, especially in MMOs.
If you spend 1500 hours in an entertainment device, it must’ve been entertaining. And “casual gamers” are not spending 6-8 hours a day on games.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
When you’re making an MMO, you think of hardware limitations.
Of all the MMOs i’ve been playing since 2005, this one has been the smoothest looking yet in animations and graphics.
And please don’t compare MMORPGs to single player RPGs in terms of animations and combat.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
This could be a chain of others to join in to see what they want from Guild Wars 2. Here is my list:
- I want to be able to at least duel somewhere with other players of same realm.
- I want to be alerted in chat when my guildmates come online.
- I want to know when my guildmates go offline.
- I want it to alert me somehow when a friend comes on and off line.
- I want guild housing like daoc had but even better.
- Remember the catacombs in daoc? I want something like that. Implement where it opens up to the winning realm for getting better loot.
- I want mounts. Let’s destroy all waypoints or most of them.
- More mini pets
- 2 handed axe.
That’s all I can think of for now. Excellent game none-the-less. Keep up the great work!
Nice list. Realistic goals, i like em, and i want em.
2 handed axe. Oh sweet lord, please Anet!
Thank you. I don’t have a Twitter account, so I’d never know they posted that. I can’t imagine why they’d not post it on their own forums.
Neither do i. But i know that Twitter is one of the most efficent ways to update communities. So i did google “guild wars 2 twitter”, and found this.
I could go for 100% … but why ?
I could go to do some more WvW … but why ?
I could train SPvP more …but why ?I can play for 2 years more ..and nothing will ever change, I will stay exactly strong as I am now …
I (and other ~70% of community) have no reason to play this game past lvl 80 Exotics…
This attitude about games just makes me sad.
Maybe it’s because I grew up playing games when games were still new (e.g. from around 1985 to present). Games didn’t used to be about getting the shinies or about doing things because the game gave you some reward like an achievement or something shiny. Games were about fun and/or challenge (often you made your own challenges).
You sound like the only reason you have to play games is to get some payout of pixels and if there is no pixel jackpot to be had you can’t see the purpose in a video game.
It’s always seemed obvious to me that Anet designs games based on old-school video game mentality (hint, GW1 is the same way, there’s tons to do but almost none of it gets you prettier pixels). The purpose of games is the journey and the experiences you have while play. The purpose is the fun of playing. Designing a game around destinations is actually bad design. It just fosters the mentality that everything before the destination is a waste of time and very often just a pain in the kitten you wish didn’t exist (e.g. WoW leveling that everyone just views as a giant time sink they wish would just go away so they could play end-game only).
I know I’ll probably never change your mind but the point I’m trying to get at (and the OP seems to be as well) is that the problem isn’t with the game. The problem is with you and your preoccupation with collecting pixels and skipping as much of the game as you can in your pursuit of pixels. If that’s all games are to you then that’s fine. There are games for you, go play one.
If you ever decide you want to play a game for the sake of playing a game and, you know, have fun doing it I’m sure GW2 will still be here waiting for you to come have fun.
I agree. They once made maintream games without achievements, prestige, unlocks and ranks.
How could we even play games back then? What was the point?!
This modern “musthaverewards”-mentality towards gaming is just toxic to the community and developers.
So MF do nothing, drops are pretty and totally random…only matter of players luck.
Ehm. I do agree that the drop rates are low. But Isn’t this the point of RNG?…
Having 100% MF only changes droprates that originally were 1% to 2%.
RNG has always been about luck.
So were the 60$ worth the 1700 hours of gameplay time?
Why not take a break and come back when there’s more new content or a new expansion? Nothing is forcing you to play this game.
Maybe he loves playing GW2, and hates that he’s “out of content”? That’s whats “forcing him to play”.
Though, Anet wouldn’t cater to the hardcore, and rush out contents because of them. Because this is a minority.
Nope.
When the dungeons are this easy and quick to finish, the DR should remain.
Of course, because every player in the game runs dungeons.
When it comes to a game altering feature like DR, majority rules.
OP:
Would you rather have instance lockdowns like other MMOs?
You will never be able to spam CoF1 over and over again to get 60 tokens every run. No matter what rules decide to put in the game/change.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
- There should be more abilities. Like utilities, where we can switch them out depending on the situation and playstyle.
- The combo system should improve, i think. Doing combos should have a larger effect.
- The skill ceilling isn’t THAT low. Mastering a profession isn’t easy for the common player! (Keyword: Mastering)
My 3 cents.
Nope.
When the dungeons are this easy and quick to finish, the DR should remain.
Elementals presence are based on whether or not the temple of that god is taken.
Gathering nodes change every time the server resets.
Statues kick in their debuffs if their respective temple isn’t controlled.
All these things change after a server side patch. It’s not a ‘stealth’ fix, this is how it’s been since the game launched. Tighten up those tinfoil hats. :P
HE MUST BE AN GW2 EMPLOYEE!
Are you trying to cover up the whole operation now?! When we’re on your tracks?! Pfft! NWO!
Actually I have 1800 hours, 1700 on my warrior and 100ish on my mesmer. Both lvl 80, both 100% done. I did 2nd gift of mastery for sunrise ( have twilight ), but I gave up as I would only be in game afking and checking TP if my order succeeded. I tried PvP and WvW but they seem too confusing and chaotic for someone who likes organized gameplay like 5man dungeon runs.
I just hope there is something else they will put in the game, otherwise I will have a lot of free time on my hands. XD
WvW is organized.
Join a guild/community. See what’s going on behind the curtains. WvW is very fun when you’re in an organized strike team for example, with comm. on TS.
WvW is a huge part of the game, you should check it out, see the potential.
Im impressed by your total hours played, by the way.
Edit: I don’t think any entertainment device would entertain your forever, when you use it for 10 hours a day. Everything in moderation, even GW2.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
The complaining here (as well as most forums) is very annoying. Mostly cause it seems it comes from disgruntled ex-players.
My theory is…the happy ones are playing, the others are here
:P
I’m doing both.
You can be objective about the game, even if you are happy about it. I think GW2 has some flaws, but that doesn’t mean that i can’t enjoy it at the same time.
Not taking sides is healthy for the gaming community, and the developers. Be objective.
This game needs massive fixes on existing content, rather than always focusing on throwing us new shiny things to play with for a month or two. It can’t continue to rely on new content forever, not when so much of the existing content still doesn’t work properly.
Or, summarized: We still have broken skills and traits almost a half year into the game, and you want more of them?
He’s not 80 yet. I don’t think broken traits is in his mind here. But i do agree with you.
“graphic work” lordy lordy, atleast learn the different types of graphical artists not everyone is a 3D modeler your post is slightly insulting.
Nitpicking, are we? Please…
OT:
I agree. It is stunning!
CPU heavy though
I second this idea!
I assume race would be a permanent aspect of your character. Afterall, it is bound to your personal story.
Playing a race for the personal story makes as much sense as playing world of warcraft for it’s dynamic content. Besides that I would pay for a new race to switch to that one say.. if it were a Largos or a Tengu.
It’s about personal taste though. Some might play it for the story… so it doesn’t matter if it “makes sense” from your point of view. It’s Anets point of view that counts.
“If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.”
Seems the entire AG server is lost in the GH border judging by your numbers. The culling made tactics obsolete for the most part. Portal bombed what we thought were 15 guys turned out to be at the very least 30 but more likely 50. Needless to say we wiped…….
Well, if it makes you feel any better…they had same numbers on our border attacking Bay while Xaoc was attackin Hills
You should know that large group of xaoc transfered to Piken, then another group of xoac got angry and went seafarer to counter them since they are in same tier. Basicly mighty xaoc is mostly split in those 2 servers and only small amount remains on gunnar. I’m actually surprised how we are holding in this tier.
I made a joke the day we won the matchup. Someone asked something in the lines of “Where’s Xaoc zerg?”. I answered: “They’re changing server”.
And they actually did.
I find it hillarious.
Bandwagoning to the high-tiered servers, are we? haha!
There’s no honor in thatYou should know also that xaoc split up last Wendsday before you made your epic comeback and not on friday after we lost. Also some of them have decided to stay with us.
However this is not the topic about last weeks match.
Respect to the remaining Xaoc on GH!
And this isn’t about last weeks match, so i’ll stop it.
See you on the fields of battle!
There’s nothing wrong with taking a break, or to play something else, even another MMO at the side of GW2 when you feel that the content is lacking, or that you are bored. There’s no sub, no wasted money
Building an stable MMO that is meant to last for longer than a year takes time. The current content may not be enough for everyone, but be patient.

Never heard of this before. What? Why? Uhm…
Confused.
The community here on the forums is aweful. Ingame though, I still have fun with the map chats and random groups I find while running through the world. I don’t see a lot of trolls on my server, thankkitten.
I use the forums to pass the time at work until I can get home and play the game itself
The question is. Do you find it awful because of other peoples complaints/issues on here? Many people do.
You have to be neutral, you have to see both side of things. Be constructive. Don’t complain for the sake of complaining, and don’t fanboy on it either, blind love.
Your question is answered by your last sentence. I don’t mind complaints, or criticism, or a good discussion. But there are too many people who complain for the sake of complaining, who have stopped playing but still come here somehow. There are too many people who will call you a fanboi if you disagree with them on one subject. And there are not enough truly neutral, constructive or open-minded people around.
That’s how it is, and how it also will be on mainstream games forums. People use this place to ventilate, and there’s alot of people. Just don’t call the entire community awful because of those people!
I didn’t
I specifically said only the forum community
Ingame, the GW community is the best I’ve ever seen, GW1 and GW2 both.
I noticed! But the forum itself isn’t awful either! I like the WvW threads for example. Most people there are writing their stories, having a good time, complimenting the enemy, etc.
You just need to filter out the blind hate and love.

Funny how this thread won’t get deleted even though it’s not relevant to GW2 because it’s in praise.
It’s kinda relevant though.
Other MMOs outdated mechanics doesn’t cut it after i’ve played GW2. Not only is it a praise, but it is also a fact in my eyes! Kinda sad though, i have to wait for new MMOs to arrive before i try anything else.
(And yes, i can play several MMOs at once.)

It’s normal to go in a “defensive position” for a game you love, when people are having issues/complaining about it. Used to do that myself. But i’ve learned to accept the fact of people being different, and so are their opinions.
Fact is. This game is not perfect, no MMO is. Especially not in the startup phase. And everone needs to get that fact in their head. There are issues, there are reasons to complain. Of course, there are people with uneccesary complaints, but the majority is legit.
The community itself is not awful because of people having different opinons.

Fanboying is just as bad as blind hate.

Playing GW2 made my expectations of MMOs higher. I can’t go back to anything else, unless they “update their mechanics”. That’s just how it is now!
This game is the ultimate Carebear Universe and a Casual Heaven so don’t expect anything better from its community (I’m not saying they’re rude or immature though). People are like “You shouldn’t have removed the ability to res during boss fights because that way it was easier for the player to get up and join the fight without having to wait for someone to res him and potentially die himself.” Just ponder on that logic for a moment… Just a moment and not a moment longer lest you should get sucked into their way of thinking!
Anet promised tactics, difficulty and what-not but instead they’re desperately holding on to the let’s-please-EVERYONE logic and this imo will be the downfall of many MMOs. Seriously, just download Tera it’s a way better game, aside from the fact one of its servers is full and has a huge queue. That game is C R U E L and hard and doesn’t cater one bit to Casual Kenny.
I’ve done hardcore raiding, i’ve done high tiered PvP. I’ve played several MMOs.
And i enjoy GW2. Why would i change game because of what random people on forums think?
I’ve been in the hardcore life, and now i’m living the casual life.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
What server are you on?
Anyways. I reccomend you to find yourself a guild/community! It will change your game.
First things first.
This is a forum. People rarely come here to compliment the game. They come here with issues. And peoples opinions are different. You can’t think on the forum as one huge hive-mind.
There are no such thing as “complainers”, or “haters”. Putting people in “groups” like that, it’s something most people blindly do. It’s flat out ridicilous.
Again, opinions differ. Where some people see issues, others see great things. This is human nature. No one is here for the sole reason of spewing hate. (Unless you count the trolls in.)
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
They should add “Culling Score” too then.
And “Door Killing Score”.
And maybe the server with the highest k/d would win copies of CoD: Black Ops 2 for everyone?
right ok fine.. but where is the balance in wvw?.
WvW isn’t about balance. sPvP is.
Also, many guilds bandwagoned to the “popular”, high-tiered servers when the free transfers were up. So that ruined some of the “fair fights”. And left the remaining servers to be outnumbered.
Human nature for some i guess, flock to the winning side.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
As long as Legendaries can be bought and sold on the Trading Post, I have no interest. I’m not going to put in all that work to create one when someone who happens to have some extra disposable income can just buy one with real money.
When I see someone with a Legendary, I don’t think “wow, what a dedicated player.” I wonder if they bought theirs. And if they didn’t, I feel bad for them because they put in the work, and others just bought them.
So lame.
Are you me?
EXACTLY what i’m thinking.
“So I’m curious ladies; why do you WvW?”
(to be said, i’m a man.)
I don’t care about the gender of the person i’m playing with. All equal to me. As long as their personality is fine. I can’t spot any differences between the playstyle of a man and a woman.
My GM is a woman, and she’s a strong leader with a great deal of respect among the guildies and on the server. It could’ve been a man for all i care, it would be the same.
It’s not about the gender, but the personality.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
Little room on your HDD?
Refined excellent product!? If Anet doesn’t pay you, you are blind. This game is the most unfinished MMO I have ever played.
This must be your first after WoW, i suppose?
I can’t imagine myself enjoying MMOs this much without RNG. The excitement would be gone.. only straight-forward “goals”.
Can you people please leave WoW out of this? WoW was NOT the first to introduce this, and it is a terrible argument to use. Please use some real arguments for a good discussion about this topic.
My two cents:
A big “NO” to inspecting gear. Every other MMO has that feature. If I want to inspect people, I’ll play those games.
Please try to keep GW2 different from other MMO’s; even if you’ve already started down the slippery WoW-clone slope, it’s not too late to stop.
Terrible logic.
So that’s why some people don’t want mounts or duels either? “Because WoW has it”.
Jesus, get over yourselves. And is inspect an wow-only feature now?
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
we have 50% of both enemy borderlands, I’m sure we are working with Miller’s!
Wait, what? The conversation has moved on from that now, please keep up
Lets focus on tomorrow, when we meet again
So goooood!
Give me those conspiracy tears GH! We’re still not working together with millers.
No, but going for the weakest side is only sensible. I appreciate logic.
We were going for the lead. Would you do the same?
So goooood!
Give me those conspiracy tears GH! We’re still not working together with millers.
This would only split the community up.
It’s already split up, every gaming community is. You have the neverending “hardcore/elitists vs casual” war.
5 warrior runs, “no noobs” runs, “all 80s” runs. They’re already here. Although the split would get bigger with inspect.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
Please use make the use of the word “mount” on this forum an account locking offense! It’s like listening to a child continually ask “why?” or saying “mom… mom… mom” over and over and over.
Using debate tactics like that wont help.
What is the problem with us wanting mounts?
I’d like to see my noble guardian on his horse with 1h and shield equiped. What if i wanted it for RP reasons? What if i wanted it for the visual?
There’s no problem in us wanting mounts. But for some, it is a problem. Some even say that they will uninstall the game if they add mount. What the actual f. What kind of extremism is that?
I have to tell them why it’s not. And how Anet is reaching out to a wide playerbase with different wishes.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
Give SPvP players XP and Gold!
I agree.
You get it from exploring, PvE and WvW. Why not sPvP?
It is pretty simple, if you wish to pretend to yourself that the 5 man ez-mode PvE in this game is anything but casual and that every serious PvEer has not already left to go back to games with raids / more challeging PvE, then run with a guild group, not a pug.
If you are that serious about it, why are you even running with a pug in the first place, it will never be optimal, but then why aren’t you playing a game with more challenging PvE / complex classes, etc.
What a laugh. Raids challenging? Then WTF is farm mode? The only challenge raids bring is a logistical one — how to get a couple of dozen arrogant, whiny pains in the kitten all pointed in the same direction at the same time.
Raids challenging <snort> … my kitten
What? I’ve been raiding for years. Been in several communities. Made many friends, and we’ve had great laughs. It is also challenging. Stop that black/white thinking.
if everyone should be able to play the game the way he wants. Then everyone should have the right to open a dungeon group and picking only the best dps geared players for it, if thats the way HE wants to play this game.
beeing able to play the game the way you want, doesnt mean others have to take you into every dungeon with that attitude, because they can play it how and with whoever they want as well. If someone asks strictly for exotic geared glasscannons and you run a bunkerbuild and ask for an invite, you are nothing more than a liar, just go find another group that accepts you “the way you want to play”, anet has done nothing wrong there, everyone IS able to play the game he wants.
i have nothing against a gearcheck, id even wish for a dps meter, because the way I WANT to play, is always maximizing, optimizing and getting the best out of my character and my build, instead of purely theorycrafting in the forums with haters and whiners (ranger forum, who almost never even take the pet into “dmg calculations” … ).
You know, there is a game out there that can accommodate your need to exclude. It was never intended to be this one though. Thanks for bringing the elitist kitten to Tyria.
No. Even if i don’t want “inspect”.
Play the way YOU want to play involves everyone. Even Elitists.
