Your build will be seriously starved for speed and missing one of the key elements to Mantras.

1) Remove Compounding Celerity, its useless. Replace the runes with 7 Travelers for perma-speed both above and below water instead. You can use 20% glamour CD instead of CC if you want, or Menders Purity due to the mantra heal (no downtime).

2) Without MoP squeezed in there, a mantra healing build is completely pointless and you might as well go with something else. MoP define a Mantra build IMO. It allow you decent damage when pursuing foes and AoE heals for 2500 (min) every 4 second.

3) While the Protected Mantras trait look like a good boost in theory, it doesnt really do that much. You dont want to be caught in a situation where the enemy pound you while channeling anyway and chances are far more likely they interrupt you than actually do enough damage for 400 toughness to matter. Phantasmal Fury or Blade Training is a given replacement.

Okay sorry this is partly my fault I forgot to specify some things.
1. It’s an spvp support build desinged for a battle mid point or where ever there is trouble so i’m really not going to need a speed boost, I never have in my time of spvping. However menders purity looks much better though, thankyou for that tip.

2. This is not designed in any way to do any kind of damage other than condi’s. And on top of that this build is NOT focused solely on mantra’s it just happens that the oct update will help this build achieve even more support. On top of mantra’s this build provides boons(a lot)/etheral fields/condi removal/ control effects on staff (mainly chaos storm and armour. Mantra’s are just one aspect incorporated into this build and it surely doesn’t rely on them, their there because the build is better for it. And since when did i say that this was a mantra healing build?

3.That part of the build is purely from experience. That is like a desperate last line of defense and it certainly does provide support on ME. That’s a trait that if all else fails I have something to have as a backup. Even in stealth that can help as you can still suffer from attacks (although it’s mainly from aoe, a panic response from an enemy who just lost sight of his target). Fury or blade training will do no good in this build (I’m not damage).

Hey requiem, do you mind if I give a little feedback? You would be much better off taking 10 out of inspiration and putting it in dueling for protected mantra’s. That way you have a strength to charging them up, your torch already takes care of condi’s and you can always swap the sig to null field or something.

I agree with the post above me. As far as WvW goes; mesmers suck. It has been my experience that it is the least played class in WvW which is proof in itself. We have some utility but we are useless outside of the zerg and arguably the worst class for 1v1 and other small fights.

Worst class for 1v1? You need to look into mesmer some more. We are literally one of the BEST classes, if not the best, for 1v1’s.

I’ll try and get some screenshots of a keep this weekend, but I have a few tips I could get off a friend about thief mechanics and play style.

Pyro has a really good 1v1 build (the best), not sure how it goes in 1vx fights as i haven’t tried it yet but here is the link to the thread anyway.

The only problem I see with this, is keeping up with all your recharges. Even though you are a mantra build in game play it is extremely difficult to keep up with all of them. I had the same problem with my build and when cut down to only the essential mantra’s I performed much better. I usually keep a max of two including the heal, but if you can make more work go for it

If it was going to be an ambush, in wvw then one tactic commonly used but could be very interesting in the story is a zerg veil or portal bomb. Popping out of nowhere and all hell braking loose.

Did you notice any blind? Thiefs do have a trait where they reach 25% health and blind you, its a minor trait, so it might be procing before you hit him with moa, if you hit him before 25% health or after that blind period then it is probably a bug. Unless the thief has traited so you get blinded whenever he goes into stealth.

I have always classified hybrid as a mix of power and condi, the rest is just a mixture. However how I classify hybrid may be completely wrong. That being said with the up-coming mantra update I expect to see more support builds. I know that my build will be changing into a support/condi however if that’s a hybrid I don’t know.
Just my thoughts.

Wow thanks a lot man, that really made my day. I’m gonna be working on an Elementalist vs Mesmer battle this weekend (this weekend ideally.. Procrastination is my largest character flaw x_x), likely larger than a one on one. I wanted to do 2 Elementalists vs a Mesmer and a … Idk. I like using actual player characters so if anyone wants to be a part of the project they’re more than welcome.

I’d love to help out, even if its just with idea’s and a plotline. Maybe the story could be a battle between to rival classes i.e. mesmers and thiefs to settle some differences. And added on that it doesn’t have to be a duel it could be a wvw scale fight (over taking a castle or something like that with a whole team of mesmers).
I dunno just some thoughts, pm me anytime on forum or in-game and i’d love to contribute

I know that after the oct updates are out I will be considering entering mine as a condi/support however it will take some time for testing and what not. I think give it until November which will allow people time to create some new exciting builds that are viable.
Interesting, engaging and fun to play builds don’t come overnight.

+1 to the Blackwater Build. I found it was a complete build that needed no tinkering, it was a great solid condi build that is used by advanced and new mesmer alike. That being said it also served as a basis for so many other viable builds out there.

Fanged Wisdom is my in game name. I’m a champ illusionist and will help anyone struggling in spvp with builds, tactics, strategies (I create support condi builds for tourney’s mainly but have knowledge in hybrids and power builds as well).

Sorry if this post has already been made, but I would like to put a suggestion of runes to Anet. Condition+Healing power runes would be an interesting set up and would allow certain classes to utilise more versatility in there set-ups.

In my opinion mantra’s have great potential. Yes some drastic changes need to be made. Mantra’s need to be something special and unique and in there current state they need a re-vamp. Hope Anet makes some big changes to how the mantra skills are used, all of them.

I hope that the daze mantra is buffed. Mantra’s need something to spice them up, not just as defensive support skills but also as offensive weapons (i.e the daze or pain mantra’s)

Yes! Fully agree with mantra traits/skills needing a buff. They need one and personally my build would be all the more better for it. PLZ ANET MANTRA’S NEED BUFFS!!

Love the synergy of your team, re stacking and using your combo fields. Your coordination was great. Highly entertaining.

Yes very true, mesmer yes need some tweaks, but aren’t suffering the most in this meta. We have skills that will allow us to survive, the rest is on the player.

If you are solo roaming with a staff, great for 3-5 man groups you come across. However gs gives out more damage (depending on your build). You don’t necessarily have to go for power, condi’s are just as viable and if you do go condi, staff is the way to go. However the question of which is better, is debatable and probably will be for the rest of time. They both have strengths and weaknesses and it’s really the player who makes the difference. GL!

Plz for the love of god stop re-naming your posts dude, we get that your build is there but people will just stop looking at it all together at this rate, it gets boring after a while.

Thanks so much! Yeah, I’ve tried using DE for this build before. The reason I changed is that with IC I get a reduced CD on Decoy, which is superb. Also, I’ve found that since I don’t have any on-clone-death traits, I have all the clones I could ever use. But hey, DE is probably really great for this setup as well. xD I just don’t like it that much.

Fair enough, like i said just my opinion. But you are right, with no real need to keep them up because you already have so much clone/phantasm up-time DE is really not necessary, but always an option And again with the P/D thief, you can always switch out master of misdirection for Masterful reflection to not only block thiefs condi’s but send them right back at them

P/D thiefs are easy if you know there moves, generally p/d thiefs are condi based which means you either need to condi cleanse often or avoid the auto attacks (which are just gun shots but also bleeds galore). If you have any reflects like distortion shatter or focus use them, they will save your life.

Anyway the build is great. You utilize your manipulation skills to wreak havoc on your opponents mind. Great concept and I will certainty try it out, even in spvp to see if it can expand its capabilities. My personal take on it would be to move the 5 out of illusions and put it into dueling for Deceptive Evasion for more clone production. That’s just my opinion though. And on the sigils look into a superior sigil of battle for might stacks on weapon swap, which means making the most out of your conditions.

The question still remains though. With all that stealth – and it’s alot – isn’t it maybe worth it taking PU? How are you doing in WvW without it? If you find yourself pwning nabs all day long, I guess you don’t need it.

With the stealth I have (decoy and Mass) PU wasn’t really a nessecity. However earlier on if i did have veil on as well I probably would have PU. However the fact still remains that the 30 in domination allows 3 casts of mantra’s instead of 2, which makes the heal more viable over ether feast Also allows me to get out of sticky situations 3 dazes readily active, most mesmer builds simply dont have that many dazes and thats why that is one of the biggest strong points of the build. Would love to know how your test of the build goes

Okay, just curious as too how you propose to take down an engi that’s traited so when he reaches 25% health he becomes immune to condi’s? Even if the engi had elixir c.
What do you do then?

Great sword for sure for range because the auto attack does more damage the farther away the opponent is. However if you are doing this you may as well go full damage because if you are maintaining that range you shouldn’t really need any defensive stats (this all depends on the tactics and build of other members in your group).

Anet really need to take this into consideration. There are some fantastic idea’s here. Mesmer should be a sophisticated class and this adds a whole new level to it. I would love nothing more than to see this in a future patch. Maybe not right now but yes, Anet should be using this as a base plate to expand the Mesmer class.

Just a thought, you are taking a torch and mostly stealth utilities, however you don’t take prismatic understanding, giving yourself lower stealth durations and you miss out on the aegis (block) protection (33% less damage I think?) and regeneration(more healing for survivability), which kind of lowers the worth of the stealth you receive.

As you like the mantra’s perhaps it might be worth taking 10 points out of chaos and putting them into domination and for XI Harmonious Mantra’s, as you mention that you believe they have a lot of potential and this would give them an extra charge, then perhaps change veil to mantra of distraction/concentration, giving you stability and stun breaks, or dazing your opponents giving you a bit more breathing room,

you would still have your stealth from torch 4, decoy and mass invisibility, and these durations and such wont change in any way as you weren’t taking PU, but also more stun breaks, stability (which we have very little of normally) and the ability to daze on command, this would keep up your survivability and might work better for you, but as I said, just my thoughts.

Great, thanks for the tip, tried it out and the mantra’s and condi synigise well together. Much more effective, the daze is amazingly useful. Didnt take the stability mantra though, tried it but found that decoy and torch skills are enough to keep stuns off you. (plus constant clones and movement)

If the goal of your build is to be defensive. I must say that you are better off with PU. Reason being is illusionary defense while cool… has nothing on protection and aegis…. Just a thought you are taking ever single stealth skill the mesmer has. Using PU would capitilize on that.. I am working on a mesmer build that may capitilize that is to say give us the most condition damage stat wise. It would look something like 0/20/25/0/25. Not quite sure how it would work though but other than not taking PU your build looks pretty sweet but when it comes down to pure numbers 33% less damage is better than 9% less.

That is true but what if I hit something like a corrupt boon necro or boon stripping thief? They can’t steal my set 9% but they can take my aegis and protection.

Yeah I was just doing some sums in my head, taking the mantra heal over ether feast, then taking 10 points out of dueling into domination for that trait would give me an extra charge on the heal. So it would heal 9k around about while ether feat does only 7-8. Not a bad idea, will look into it some more. The only problem is is it worth taking an extra heal over 9% less damage from illusionary defense?

kk will keep at it. I’ll keep updating to let you guys know of any changes. Curently I am thinking of switching the heal skill to the mantra one, but that will take some trait revising to be actually worth it. And you have every right to say it, I value anyone’s viewpoint because ultimately it will improve my build tenfold.

I could help with mes vs thiefs. I have a bit of history with p/d condi and if anyone needed a few tips on how to beat them I would be happy to help. Also have a friend running exactly the same build who could help out as well.

Well I know this has probably been brought up before but I would love to know if the Minstrel has foot fall effects. I have heard that it doesn’t and my suggestion would be to add some effects in please Anet. A legendary should be something cool and you should be proud of achieving it. Well what I’m trying to say is that I would love to go for this legendary and the only thing stopping me is the fact it doesn’t have foot fall effects. It isn’t hard to add it in so why not? Something like little music note indentations in the ground when you run. Thanks for taking the time to read this and please please take this into consideration.

Yeah, what is up with cof. The entrance is blocked off so the event must be bugged. I would love to know if anet is fixing this.
