Well, i have been trying this rune out with a full rabid set, and although it is fun, it is pretty much inferior in every way to the stealth/phant build i was running, both in small man and large man fights,
/sadface
I love dueling, have dueled alot of times with most of my characters, but if i see two people fighting anywhere but behind the windmill, or maybe ruins with other people standing around watching, you are completely fair game for me.
I have found people fighting outside of SE or SW tower, i start to attack the red person and they yell at me because they are dueling; if you want to duel get the heck out of busy WvW roaming avenues and find somewhere secluded or you will get your duel interrupted, how the heck am i supposed to know if you are dueling if you don’t go to “designated areas”.

I’m not running a full glass cannon build, i am using a stealth phantasm build. My build doesn’t hit for as much as a normal phantasm build; but yes, with might my phantasms have been doing 2-3k more damage than normal.
Xel
I know people have done tests showing that phantasms don’t get your crit chance, they get the transferred precision, so i guess i was assuming they didn’t get crit/damage as well.
It is fairly obvious they do get boosted from might though , and with the boon duration runes in the past day i have been having at least 15 might, if not 25 might on me, which i think increases overall damage quite a bit more than the dps runes would, as well as providing me with longer protection/regen/vigor.
Xel
Two things. First, the GS is a defensive weapon for the Ranger. It helps you survive while your other weapon does damage. Its an amazing weapon. Secondly, Mesmer SUCKS with the GS especially in wvw/pvp. Its a horrible weapon. The Rangers GS is like the Mesmer Staff, its for defense and set ups. not disrespecting your skill, youre just not using the weapon right at all
Just have to chime in here and say you are completely 100% wrong about the gsword sucking for mesmer, especially in WvW/Spvp, there are thousands of mesmers that would disagree with you, for a phantasn mesmer it is arguably the best weapon to use.
On topic, i love gsword with ranger running my 100% zerker build, the defense it brings, and mobility with swoop have saved me so many times when i am small man roaming.
Xel
If you are using gsword or staff, and pistol i would recommend trying out bountiful interruption in the chaos tree, with the longer boons you will be able to stack up might easily, and the other random boons it gives will be longer as well.
My build is more offensive, so the 10% extra might is better for me than 10% more protection, (the extra duration on regen/aegis isnt really that important). I switched over to two sigils of battle as well, going to try and see how easily i can keep 15-25 stacks of might up in duels using this setup.
Xel
Update: Well, i used the boon setup for a few hours last night, and let me say it was a blast. My first fight with the runeset was against a necro, i got 25 might stacks and my phantasms melted him before he knew what was happening. Throughout the rest of the night i generally had at least 15 might, and in battles against 2+ i was getting to 20-25 pretty regularly. The boon duration helped survivability quite a bit as well, took out a zerg of around 20 with just 3 other people, and won quite a few 1v2-3’s.
Only problem is i was actually roaming with these runes, which are really slow, so i would just swap to focus get speed, then swap back to gsword, and with the boon duration runes i still probably have 80% swiftness uptime and all it takes is a second to get focus speed up and back to gsword.

i gave constructive criticism in this thread (negative feedback if you want to be a sissy about it). the glaring problem with this build isnt the actual build. the build is fine.
claiming that the build is for pvp while running longbow+zerker, that was the problem. if this (gear and weapon choice) ever becomes viable from anywhere other than than the unseen center of a zerg or a keep wall, the greatest ranger in the game will be some some guy named xXLegolassXx and he’ll have 25 videos out the first day. never go full zerker unless you’re a zergtard. even then, it is probably not a good idea.
I have about 15 hours of small man roaming with 5> people that completely disproves what you say here. It all depends on how you play, and maybe what server you are on, right now i have never run into a group with more than 5 people with my ranger, so its alot easier to stay alive, and help burn people down compared to servers that have blobs running around every map.
Is it a challenge? Of course it is, is it viable? I would say yes, i have never had so much fun killing perma stealth thieves than with 100% zerker longbow, its fun to burn them down when they are expecting to be able to dance in and out of fights all day long without any trouble.
Note: This is using a variant of the 10k longbow attack build, excuse the somewhat off the topic post, just showing the opposite side of the coin to raven bashing this weapon/armor setup.
Alright, so i am an avid WvW roamer with mesmer and lately i have found alot more people from enemy servers have been adding me to call me out for a duel because they want a rematch for whenever i melt them in WvW.
Instead of using my roaming runes (centaur) I want to buy another zerker set and add different runes (this set would also be used if I am in a roaming group which already has high swiftness uptime).
My build is 20/20/30/0/0 power build, 100% zerker, its heavy on phantasm damage, and utilizes multiple stealths for defense/defensive boons, it also gets 5 stacks of might/random boon on interrupts.
Since most of my damage is coming from phantasms I want runes that also affect their damage, which brings up to choices I have come up with, ruby orbs/boon duration gear.
100% ruby orbs: 12 crit damage, 120 power, 84 precision (roughly 4% more crit chance for me and my phantasms)
2 Sup water/2 Sup Monk/2 Sup Hoelbrak: 50% longer might, 30% longer boons. I currently use the 20% boon duration food, so this would give me 100% might duration, 80% boon duration. Defense wise these are obviously superior to the ruby orbs, I’ll have longer vigor/protection/regen boons, but one thing I am curious about, is with the extra might duration I think the overall DPS could beat out the ruby orbs as well. Gsword #2 would give 6 stacks at 20 second duration, and bountiful interruption would give 5 stacks for 20 seconds, and sigil of battle will also be adding 3 stacks when I switch weapons.
I think the boon duration runes would overall increase my dps more than any other rune setup because I will have quite a lot of might at all times, power is picked up by the phantasms and crit damage isn’t
What do you guys think of my analysis, would this work well? Do you have any other ideas for runes that would also work with this setup?
Thanks,
Xel

Exhibit A:
I would have to disagree, i am running 100% zerker everything, 30/20/20/0/0 and so far i am about sitting around 70% win rate with the 1v1’s i have come across, with thieves i am about 50% win rate, if the thief jumps me i die, if i jump the thief i have a pretty good chance at winning.
Just going from personal experience in the past few days of running this build.
-snip-
My response was actually a direct rely to the poster who said that glass cannon rangers aren’t viable in WvW roaming, and the build i mention 30/20/20/0/0 is very different from the one in this thread, i just wanted to throw out my opinion that GC can be, and is viable in roaming, (though you really need SoS with signet of the beastmaster)
I am sure this build is plenty viable in zerg/large group situations, but for solo/small man roaming it is going to have a tough time of it if you get jumped.

If you like that weapon set and phantasms i would recommend running this build;
20/20/30/0/0 power/stealth build
This build offers really good offense, and by going 30 in chaos you have really good survivability with all of the stealths/boons that you get from it, which is essential if you want to roam in WvW without getting rolled over by a zerg.
By timing iWave and magic bullet/f3 well you can build up might pretty easily as well, which adds quite alot of DPS seeing as the build is 100% zerker.

(edited by Xelnok.2397)
To be fair, if you see a thief attacking someone and can hit rapid fire while he’s unstealthed, you are probably going to give him a hard time. But if its just you running around, anyone and everyone (with the possible exception of a staff ele) is going to kill a glass longbow ranger.
So far the classes that give me the most trouble are those that have really good healing, if i can’t burst them down really fast and i use most of my utilities for defense/offense, i generally just run away.
Even with 100% zerker i have found between the stability from RaO and Signet of the Wild/(And stone if necessary) paired with either wolf fear/hound immobalize i can get away from almost any situtation i have come across in case a group of people jump me. (It is seriously hilarious and fun when running away to swoop away, look back, target someone, use f2 with the wolf, who then stops and channels the howl, so that by the time those chasing me run past it, they all get caught in a 2 second fear, and by that time swoop is up again, and i get out of combat speed)
(This is using some abilities not available in the build in the OP, just wanted to give my 2 cents about glass longbow rangers not being super effective solo roaming, i do admit that if i get into a group of at least 2 others my survivability and DPS skyrocket. I only solo roam if there arent any others on the BL i decide to head too, and i am still figuring out my zerker setup so i still want more practice before i mess around with my 100% rabid setup)
Xel
For WvW solo roaming i can kill things so much faster with greatsword than with staff, which is essential if there is a zerg about to smash you at any moment.
Staff can take out more people at the same time, but i have found those fights are prolonged and can get interrupted by adds so easy.
Going by experience i would say that i win about 90% of the time against staff mesmers, and even higher against BS thieves, why go for a defensive weapons when i can just trait for stealth for a great defense and be able to melt most things i come across in seconds, and for tanky builds a little bit longer.
Power builds are not solo roaming builds. Use them with a partner who can peel/kill things off you.
Well, yesterday i played ranger for the first time in WvW for a few hours, i was using 100% exotic zerker with ruby orbs. Most of the time i was with my wife, who is also a 100% zerker thief.
Zerker thief+zerker ranger= single targets die in about .5-2 seconds, depending on what class they are. Multiple targets took a little longer but we were still able to win the outnumbered fights we came across.
I also solo roamed for a bit and over all i only lost 1 1v1 to a guardian that i couldnt burst down for the life of me, the fight lasted for about 5 minutes though, it was a good fight all in all.
I went 3/4 1v1s against thieves, 2 of those fights were an arranged duel, the first of which i won because i timed my block and invulnurability well. The second fight the same thief came in with a big burst, i used my defensive cooldowns and he just stealthed for like 10 seconds waiting for my buffs to wear, and then melted me. The third thief i fought was a condition spamming thief using torment/bleeds etc, i managed to win that fight, but only because when he downed me, i used the wolf to knock him down, and then kill him so i beat him in a downed battle. The fourth thief i fought i used the GS#4 on when he stealthed and hit him for about 5.8k damage with the kick, o.O
I also lost 1v1 to a phantasm mesmer, (after playing a phantasm mesmer of my own i know they are almost impossible to kill 1v1)
I won about 5 other 1v1’s where i got the jump on the person and they died before they could really touch me.
Most of my time was 30/30/10/0/0,
Marksman: 10% extra damage with full endurance, eagle eye, signet of the beastmaster
Skirmishing: 30 pet speed, bow reduction, moment of clarity
Wilderness Survival: Wilderness Knowledge.
Utilities i was using: Lighting reflex, signet of stone, signet of the hunt(or Wild)
I am thinking about changing the 10% extra dps with full endurance to Signet Mastery, and switching the 10% from wilderness survival to nature magic and picking up the 5% vitality to power trait, or spirit buff and frost spirit if running with a group. (I have found i dodge way too much to get the 10% bonus from full endurance, which really only helps if i get the jump on someone)
With the traits mentioned above i would run signet of hunt/signet of stone/signet of wild, with RaO,
(I am also debating only going 25 in skirmishing and spending those 5 extra points wherever they would be most useful)
What do you guys think about the traits/utilities i was running compared to the changes i mentioned?
Thanks,
Xel
Alright, thanks for all of the replies! I actually play on a tier ~7 server and 80% of my playtime is in the morning, so when i play the only thing really going on is small groups of people wandering the maps. No need to worry about a zerg rolling along to kill me if i ever come into a small battle at a camp, etc.
I think i may actually just start off with a suit of 100% zerker and see how that works for me, and then may eventually put in some cavalier trinkets if i think my defense needs a little bit of a boost.
I just found out that you can actually get exotic rabid trinkets in orr to match the exotic armor there, so i am definitely going to pick up a 100% rabid suit soon just in case i want a little variety, but TBH i more leveled this character just to see how fast i can melt people while roaming (and i needed a character to level while helping my wife level)
I will mostly always be playing with my wife, who is a 80 thief, so that will help with both my defense and offense. (I have been debating picking up remorselessness and testing it out because with the added stealth from a thief it will mean that many more opening strikes (when fixed)).
My main is actually a stealth phantasm 100% zerker mesmer build which is pretty much a god in solo/small man roaming, and i kinda got sick of easy mode, so how much more of a challenge is there than a super glass cannon build (and ranger kinda reminds me of Hunter from DAoC with stealth bow hits, and a pet to help kill, i miss melting people from stealth before they know what hit them)
Thanks again,
Xel
Alright, so i have seen videos and read threads about the 10k/23k hit ranger builds, and i just leveled a ranger to 80 so i can mess around with them in WvW.
In both of the threads people bring up both zerker gear and valkyrie gear as helping make the build the best it can be (im pretty sure valkyrie is good for getting the highest crit possible, but it also adds vitality which does increase survivability somewhat).
My question is what is the best mix of the two to make a viable ranger that can hit really hard, and not melt as fast due to the higher vitality?
I’m primarily going to use this build for small man roaming.
Any build advice would be much appreciated as well, i think 30/30/0/10/0 is what i have been seeing with the nature magic being 5% vit to power, or the spirit buff.
(I’m also planning on getting a set of rabid for when i want to play around as a bunker condition ranger)
Thanks alot,
Xel
Bear pet… :/
15 characters length.
Jungle Book music + Bear Pet = Win
I have actually been running 20/20/30 for a little bit now and i much prefer it to the original 10/30/30, just check what i said a couple posts above yours, the gsword training helps out alot.
As for halting strike i am still somewhat on the fence, it is a great trait and synergizes perfectly with this build, and in most cases i can see it doing well, but sometimes in a fight no matter how hard you try you won’t get an interrupt, and in other fights you will get multiple. Really the only reason i have been keeping the phantasm increase dps is because i almost always have 2, if not 3 phantasms up which is guaranteed damage, IZerker is also AoE, and when throwing him into a zerg that is 5k X lots of people, whereas with halting strike i would be hitting every single one of those people for less damage. (But then again i have Iwaved a big zerg and gotten multiple interrupts just from that skill alone)
I’ll probably mess around with it more after a good week of roaming without it and compare to how fast i could kill people on average. The damage is nice when it does crit, but without the crit it is only subpar.
I would have to disagree; this is primarily a phantasm build with stealth as extra defense, losing out on the Izerker and the might the gsword brings would decrease my dps dramatically. The staff does work well in many of the variants of 20/20/30 as a defensive weapon, but the idea of this build is to melt the enemy as fast as possible, and it has some pretty good killing power so i almost never miss the defense, (and if there is a large group of people coming to attack me i can just stealth and get away without any trouble.
If i used staff, then i would most likely want to switch pistol for torch and grab the torch cooldown over the gsword cooldown, and then i might as well just roll a condition build, which albeit great, doesnt have the burst potential this build has.
Xel
20/20/30 can be a strong power or condition build, not only support.
If you trait for that boons duration you cant expect outstanding damage.
Here’s a shameless plug for the video I just uploaded, it’s a 20/20/30 power build, it has insane dps, the nice thing about PU is there is no need to play defensive because it already gives you defensive boons, so you can go 100% dps with gear and traits.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Video-WvW-Roaming-Stealth-Phantasm-Build
Someone on my build thread asked me to make a video, so i compiled a few hours worth of fighting into what i think shows off how well the build is for roaming, both DPS wise, and survivability wise through the stealth.
My build is almost exactly how it is described in the build thread except i switched to 20/20/30, and picked up greatsword mastery, and from dueling line dropped DE and switched long range manipulations for phants with fury, and switched between blink and veil.
I hope you enjoy!

I tried to find good footage of some 1v1-3s and put the more interesting fights in the beginning of the video, starting around 18:50 i have some really quick battles that show how insane the burst of this build is, even with 30 in chaos.
What do you all think?
I finally managed to get fraps to work yesterday and in a few hours time i got some pretty good 1v1/2s using this build. I’m working on editing them together to make it more enjoyable to watch. Its not as interesting to watch as some of those crazy condition mesmers that dance in and out of 1vxs all day, but it should show you the potential damage and how fast you can burst people down, and then get away with stealth.
This is a really similar build to the one i am using, although i run it a little more offensively than you.
Here is the build thread
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Stealth-Phant-Hybrid-Build-Update-7-6/first#post2423819
With so much berserker gear i would honestly drop the scepter and pick the greatsword, and for your offhand you could go either sword/pistol or sword/torch. Izerker hits like a truck with this setup, and you can get extra might from gsword 2, and also get Iwave which gives you lots of chances to interrupt, which brings in the idea of using BI in the chaos tree to get more might and random boons.
The nice thing is you wouldnt even have to switch around from 20/20/30, you could run torch with the cooldown if wanting extra stealth and condition removal while running solo, and say you get a couple extra people to help out so you want added damage you can drop the torch CD, pick up the gsword cool down, and switch torch for pistol.
Just some thoughts, i really love how many options this setup gives, and honestly the damage it gives out is reminiscent of my old phantasm build, except now i have lots of boons and stealth to increase defense and offense.
@Dasboba: I actually just switched over to 20/20/30 for the gsword mastery to test it out, i’ll lose 10% crit damage, and DE, but the cooldown reduction for the greatsword will be worth it for more might from #2, more izerkers, and more knockbacks. I have also been switching in veil depending on what i am doing or who i am coming across, i have been switching it for blink instead of thievery though, a well timed arcane thievery can be the difference between a win and a loss, especially against necroes/engineers. I have also been messing around with phantasmal fury instead of long range manipulations, the DPS increase is really good, but sometimes a long range blink will be the difference between getting rolled by a zerg, or escaping.
I could use more defensive armor, but i honestly think a better offense is almost 100% of the time better than a good defense (when fighting 1v1-2/3). With the 100% zerker armor, throwing in the vulnerability stacks, and the increased damage from phantasmal fury and more izerkers i think i should do far better at bursting people down, and between the stealths and the defensive boons with the long boon duration i think our defense is definitely good enough.
@Cares Less: I tried to get bandicam to work but it was having issues, and both of my harddrives have been acting up like crazy, so recording alot of data while playing might mess them up even more. I’ll try to get some videos of me playing, but i have honestly been playing way too much lately running around with this new build, and last night my wife got pretty kitten ed at me for playing so much, so i promised her i would play less.
(I could probably get some footage of SPvP duels/matches alot quicker and easier than getting a large compilation of WvW fights, the problem is the build works far better in WvW with the higher crit damage and longer boons)
Xelnok
Going from personal experience in the past 1.5 weeks since i created my new build i have won about 65 out of 70 1v1s between wvw and spvp.
The only classes out of all those duels that beat me was a 1. condition warrior (i beat him once as well, he was just crazy good at his class, never seen any other warriors come close to his ability. 2. Some crazy minion necro build with really high defense. 3+4+5 More defensive staff mesmers (which is really the only counter to my build i have found).
I have never lost to a thief with this build in WvW, or sPvP, beit a condition thief, backstab thief, with some of the wvw thieves jumping me having 25 bloodlust stacks to boot.
Condition classes have the best chance against us, but honestly they have to play perfectly to win, and i have not come against that many people that have mastered their class well enough to beat out.
Moral of the story: Mesmer is an insanely good dueling class, throw in more than one opponent and things change completely. Either way Mesmer is pretty much guaranteed to get nerfed as has always been the case with Anet every patch (but conditionmancer necroes are probably going to get nerfed even harder so w/e)
My build is a 10/30/30/0/0 phantasm stealth hybrid btw
Pretty much only utilities, I played last night in a 1v1 server, and maybe I was playing scrubs but I went 4/5 against various necros without too much difficulty.
I probably could have used idisenchanter and done even better
Alright, first of all stability > magic bullet, it almost seemed like you would save that attack until they had stability up.
Secondly, good duels; but I’m pretty sure it is widely accepted that mesmer should never lose a 1v1 against almost anyone which is why the 1vx fights are more impressive.
(I was thinking about making a video of just my 1v1s but almost all battles are so lopsided I figured it wouldn’t be very entertaining to those watching)
I’ve been running a 10/30/30/0/0 build and have won around 30 1v1s (around 60 1v1s including spvp, although the build is far superior in wvw) and about 10~ 1v2s in the week or so i have been using it, only losing to a thief that jumped me with all my utilties on CD. One of the things i love about this build is i am literally impossible to catch if i don’t want to die, which is very important roaming when you are fighting a 1vx and see a huge zerg coming your way you can always get away.
I used to run a 20/0/30/20/0 power build for around a week after the patch with sword/torch+gsword and found the build i am using now has much better killing power, and i still live longer without the extra stealth and condition removal.
I’m going to have to give this trait a try, i’ve been running 10/30/30/0/0 with the 15% phantasm damage increase, but i have been using BI in my new build, and getting pretty good at timing interrupts for might, so this may out dps the 15% phantasm dps.
Edit: NM, 15% phantasm damage is just better overall for sustained damage, with 100% berserker gear and 30 in dueling i was only hitting for 1.5-3.5k, while albeit good dps, 15% more dps on phantasms that are out 100% of the time is just better.
(edited by Xelnok.2397)
The sad thing is that PU is almost guaranteed to get nerfed, >.>, and with a new mesmer nerf every patch happening every two weeks now, it will be interesting to see what is left of the profession in a few months.
I absolutely love it, the phantasm hits like a truck. 6 might from #2 is always welcome, and the AoE knockback is amazing for use against thieves with shadow refuge, as well as for interrupt procs to get bountiful interruption boons. Been using it with sword+pistol in both wvw and spvp and it has helped me massacre most things i come across.
I was thinking about making a video showcasing me roaming with my new build, but after watching this i’m not so sure. I pretty much 1v1, or go 1v2, never even came close to winning a 1vx like you do in your videos.
Pretty amazing stuff.
Updated first post with the new build i have been using
Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated (i know there are new builds popping up all the time but i haven’t really seen any like this)
20/0/30/20/0
Full zerker gear, Gsword+Sword/Torch
MoR/MoP/Blink/Decoy/MI
Centaur Runes/Boon Duration Food
Dom: 15% Phantasm Dps/Torch CD Reduction
Chaos: Illusionary Defense/Bountiful Inturruptions/Prismatic Understanding
Insp: Cure condition on heal/Restorative Mantras
This is a build that mixes good defense, with 3 stealths and 3 condition removals along with two heals from MoR and MoP, to some pretty good offense brought about by the berserker and building might stacks from gword 2 and BI.
So far been alot of fun duoing/soloing in wvw, if you tend to go in bigger groups i would switch out the runes for lyssa, and swap blink for SoI, so you can share the boons you get from stealth/AoE heal with mantra of recovery.
Xel
Old Build
I have spent the past two days roaming in WvW with 20/0/30/20/0,
Weapons: GSword, Sword/Torch
Centaur Runes (I’ve mainly been soloing or duoing so the speed is essential, if i went with a bigger group i would probably use Lyssa runes)
MoR/MoP/Blink/Decoy/MI
Dom: Empowered Illusions/Cleansing Conflag
Chaos: Illusionary Defense/BI/PU
Insp: Mender’s Purity/Restorative Mantras
I am running 100% exotic berserker gear with boon duration food, and precision oil.
With the 3 condition removals, 3 stealths throwing in an occasional blurred frenzy the defense and longevity of this build is actually pretty stellar, and with the 15% bonus damage for phantasms and the high crit/crit damage i can actually take people down fairly fast.
Rotation: I always start off with iZerker while running towards them, i then use gsword 2 for might, and then depending if they are close enough ill use gsword 5 and cross my fingers for an inturrupt. After throwing the sword i normally switch weapons, throw out iMage and depending on whether they are starting to damage me either use prestige for the blind/blast and then heal, or pull out a blurred frenzy for extra damage. After the initial rotation i try to get up 3 iZerkers to help take them down while i slip in and out of stealth/i also use stealth to recharge my mantras, both of which heal after channeling. So far i normally save MoP for when i need a little extra burst dps to try and finish someone off, or i just use the charges if i need a quick heal.
I was able to win quite a few 1v1s, a couple 1v2s, and most fun of all was to jump into a battle between the two opposite forces, down and stomp someone, then get out; rinse and repeat.
One problem i had with my phantasm build was if i was fighting multiple people it was always hard to pull off a stomp without getting melted. Now with 3 different stealths, with a very high chance of getting aegis+protection, it is easy to stealth stomp then blink away without too much trouble.
What do you guys think of the build? I honestly haven’t seen anything like it before and it is working fairly well, its fun down classes i.e. guardians, thieves, condition anything, that are generally expecting to take you out fast, and then see you outlast all of their bursts, heal to full hp, while knocking their hp down at an alarming rate.
Any suggestions on how to make it better?
Thanks!
Xelnok

The recent patch added the 5 stacks, which is why the wiki hasn’t been updated yet.
“Bountiful Interruption: This trait has been moved to the Master tier. In addition to granting a random boon on interrupt, this trait will also grant 5 stacks of might.”
Edit: 7/20/2013
Alright, so after running the build mentioned here for a week i decided to change things up a bit and what i ended up with was quite a bit more offense with seemingly the same amount of defense.
I switched to :
Traits
20 Dom: Empowered Illusions(Potentially halting strike)/Gsword Mastery
20 Dueling: Far Reaching Manip(or Phantasmal Fury)/Duelists Disc
30 Chaos: Master of Manip/BI/PU
Weapons
Gsword/Sword+Pistol (gives me two on command interrupts with f3, both phantasms hit for 4k+, had the zerker randomly hit for 8k, o.O
Utilities
Mirror/Arcane Thievery/Blink(Or veil)/Decoy/MI
This is where i am getting most of my defense from, I had never used arcane thievery before, but with the cooldown reduction and range increase i have fallen in love with this utility. It was fun as hell to steal a rangers Rampage as One and proceed to stomp them into the ground/works well for almost all classes because you can time it well to steal their boons when they build up a couple, or save it to dump conditions while stealing boons, and with 32 second recast you can use it often.
Blink: The decrease on CD and range on this utility is amazing as many of you know.
(Veil): I have actually been using veil quite a bit more lately, it works perfectly with this build, and if you can manage getting both stealths its that much more powerful, it has been the difference in many battles between death and life for me, but sometimes not having blink as another stunbreak has lead to my death, as well as not being able to catch runners, they are both good, and depnding on what you are doing either one can work well.
Decoy+MI: With PU these both have become even more amazing than they were before
Food
Chocolate Omn Cream: 20% boon duration= 50% total boon duration with traits
Maint Oil (extra crit for both me and my phantasms)
Gear
100% Exotic Berserker for every piece
Runes/Sigils
6/6 Centaur runes, with the boon duration i have 100% swiftness uptime
Gsword: Sup Sigil of Air (could switch for fire but its a little too expensive atm)
Sword: Sup Sigil of Perception (extra crit=<3)
Pistol: Sup Sigil of Battle (Cant ever go wrong with might, with BI, Gsword 2 and this sigil its not hard to keep up 10+ stacks of might, can go quite a bit higher if lucky with interrupts)
Build in Use
Video of me solo roaming:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_UyJG57OoM
I ran this build in WvW for around 5 hours, the first 1.5 completely solo, then in a roaming group; it was by far the most fun i have ever had in a 200~ hours of mesmer(almost all that time in WvW). Even though i dropped the torch with its lowered cooldowns, condition removal and extra stealth i felt like i survived quite a bit longer through the extra range on blink, deceptive evasion, and the increased damage: a better offense is often the best defense, +30 more crit damage and two hard hitting phantasms help me drop people so much faster so i dont need to bounce in and out of stealth as much, also the bleeds from sharpened images actually add some pretty decent DPS with the pistol and gsword phant, and then there are the extra interrupts available from pistol which have given me a noticeable increase in might stacks from BI.
I managed to stack up 25 stacks of perception and kept them for a few hours while playing solo+ as a trio, something which i had never really done before. I think of myself as semi suicidal as in i love to charge big groups, down someone, stomp them, and get out alive, and the increase in blink range and decrease in CD helped me do just that. It was the first time i had ever thought to myself that i need to get a new sword to switch out when i cap stacks (ill probably get the +5% crit sigil on the new sword)
So what do you all think?
PS: One of the greatest things about 20/20/30 is there are so many different build variants you could switch too depending on your need.

I think 10/0/30/30/0 as a dps interrupt build, or 0/10/30/30/0 as a bunker build would be pretty good.
With protected mantras/mantra of restoration, buffed PU and the amount of boons you can rack up stacked with bountiful interruptions you will have an insane amount of boons, 8’)
With the trait changes it looks like you can get both bountiful interruptions, as well as the buffed PU using this build. I think im going to mess around with this build with the new changes to see what all i can accomplish in small man wvw roaming.
By taking out the 5 points from illusions you can get protected mantras for even more defense while casting mantras to heal, or if you want more DPS, you can put 10 points into domination for halting strike, which just got buffed, and with all the inturrupting you do to trigger BI, halting strike could potentially do alot of damage along with the minor trait that adds vuln while inturrupting.
Im going to mess around with a 10/0/30/30 build and see how that works
Anyone else have ideas to change the build after the patch?

Anyone know if ESO has an SPvP type gameplay that the devs will balance around screwing the rest of the game?
If not i am rerolling to a Dark Elf spellsword type character.
I posted this a few days back in a different thread,
“I was a glamour mesmer for a few months early this year, and after coming back after a 4 month break a few days back i picked up a berserker phantasm build. I think im going to try and figure out a build that is primarily phantasm with some glamour aspects to try out in WvW.
Wondering how well sw/p, s/f or sw/f with a 10/30/0/25/5 will work. In a 1v1 i would drop the warden first, switch to pistol while creating a feedback bubble, use pistol 5 to stun to keep them somewhat in the warden range, then use the duelist.
I have yet to test it out, but the duelist should do around 6k with crits and the warden should get up to at least 4k, and they should end up with around 10-15 stacks of bleeds and 10+ stacks of confusion in only a few seconds time.
What do you guys think about something like that? I’ll test it with full zerker gear, but i do have some exotic rabid gear left over from my glamour build i could mix and match in with the berserker to increase the bleeds/confusion damage, (im assuming that with the confusion nerf the rabid gear won’t beat out the berserker gear in a build like this, although veggie pizzas with their condition duration could be an interesting substitute)
edit: after testing it on random creatures in WvW the feedback bubble lasts long enough for you to get through the chain mentioned above, as well as use sword 3 twice to immobilize the target, giving you chaos armor.
iWarden→Feedbackbubble→pistol 5→P4→Sword 3×2→ Sword 2
Just need to test it out in a solo WvW battle to see how it works but i think its actually going to work quite well"

It’s kind of sad how uninformed and ignorant people are in this thread, whether you argue for or against confusion at least stick to facts instead of made up numbers.
And to the eles complaining; confusion mesmers are your counter just like dd eles are thieves counter, (and Tbh it’s really really hard to kill a good dd ele with confusion)
Funny thing is if they nerf confusion many condition mesmers will switch to shatter builds, (which are arguably more effective), than the forums will be full of people whining about the influx of mesmers that instagib them where they have no chance of escaping, instead of getting instagibbed from confusion (where they actually have a chance to live if they just stop spamming skills).
For those complaining about confusion in group fights, where you are relegated to not attacking anything for a few seconds which supposedly means death, (if you replace that confusion mesmer with any glass cannon build you would just be straight dead without having to worry about those few seconds of not attacking).
Unless the mesmer is a glamour build, which are very very rare, the only way for someone to apply confusion is through shatters, which have a longish cool down.
Umm, if you take the damage away from confusion it won’t force inaction…. So then it would be a 0 purpose condition
Edit, person above me just covered it
It really is sad when I blow all of my cool downs as a glamour build, get 15 stacks on someone just to watch them run away for a few seconds and then be left without any damage until the long cool downs wear off. Honestly that is all you have to do, run away for a couple seconds, is it really that hard to run away?
If you have 2 stacks it doubles, 3 stacks triple, etc.
We are playing Mesmer here, any half decent Mesmer should never get blown up by another Mesmer, we know each others play book. Glam fields are what gives the build a name but just because they are on cool down doesn’t mean you can’t rack on condition/confusion or just play defensively.
Tbh I haven’t ever encountered a condition Mesmer 1v1 in wvw, but i know they are powerful, my duo partner is a condition build Mesmer.
You may know the tricks of how to avoid death, or even kill a glam Mesmer but I promise you that people who haven’t played Mesmer, let alone condition mesmers don’t know how to counter, and don’t stand a chance.
Just saying, don’t count out a build that can massacre most of the game, just because you are good at countering it.
To the poster above me, maybe you should go play a glamour build and see how well it works in all situations, it’s fairly simple to keep confusion on someone to varying degrees almost 100%. Scepter 3 lasts for 8 seconds, with cof lasting 5 seconds. I have been using a glamour build for almost a month now and yes it does blow up people who don’t pay attention, but it also takes out players who know how to play their class as well, it takes longer to kill them but they either die, or run away.
I mainly roam, but imagine defending a keep, throwing down null field, feedback, and veil at a zerg and see the bags rain at your feet while on the wall.
It’s very viable spec and you would be surprised how many people really do blow themselves without paying attention
