Velocity [VcY] – Somewhere roaming on Far Shiverpeaks
This matchup like topic will be removed soon. Even tho it is in good spirit.
We already got a miley cyrus hair style. We are complete now!
When i think about a sandstorm.
tl;dr
Get to level 80, see how versatile your profession of choice is in trait/utility skills.
Off topic @ Vayne.8563 Trion is only the publisher for as far as i know. They have nothign to do with the game development itself.
I’m not here to discuss ArcheAge, but the combat/leveling/skill system is more oldschool, as what the OP described he/she liked. And besides that having the oppertunity to choose from 120 class combos is something that helps with being versatile in choice.
(edited by Xerion.8014)
Oh and if you like the more oldschool skill system, check out ArcheAge, lots of skills to choose from across 120 possible classes, its still in Alpha, but going closed Beta soon and its F2P
(shameless ArcheAge promotion)
oh dear…. this thread will be deleted very soon
Naaaaah it won’t
He lost to a ranger, he is afraid his friends will get to know this.
I play ranger since beta and i get called hacker aswell sometimes. But hey, i feed on it, so i am strong enough to kill them again and this time with finishing.
As long as you know you don’t use hacks you should take it as a compliment, thats what i do.
Stop care about others, think about yourself.
The thing is, skill/trait use in GW2 can be versatile, but you have to go through all the levels before you can actually pick what you like. Not all traits are like “dot spells do x% more damage for each dot on them”.
The trait system has changed since the april patch. Yes before that you had more traits, you started gaining them from lvl 11 untill you hit lvl 80. Now you get 15 trait points in total across how many levels and when you gain them, i don’t know. I haven’t leveled a character in ages.
Besides all of the above, as i said earlier, you should level it to lvl 80 and ofcourse keep leveling untill you got all the skills, then look back if the trait/skill system is versatile enough for you.
(edited by Moderator)
If you like almost every MMO, you should know that there is more beyond lvl 16 and that the start of a new character can be the most boring because its lacking skill choice.
Try to get to lvl 80 with a character you like to play. In that progres you earn enough skillpoints to choose the utility skills you want to use, not all have a huge cooldown.
Besides utility skills you also got traits wich you can tweek to your liking. At lvl 16 you haven’t unlucked a lot of traits, so there is not a lot of room to play.
Get to level 80 and learn the profession and after that look back on what you wrote.
Are you on acid?
Ranger in GW1 → Ranger in GW2.
It was my first character i leveled to 80. I still play it as a roaming profession in WvW.
But also i had to follow the GWEN meta in WvW. So i went warrior for raiding.
Be aware the Dervish Profession is incoming!
Well, if they deleted it from PvE, there’d be none, so you couldn’t get the legendary either way. :P
What i meant with it, is that everybody has to go through the part of completing world completion they don’t like. For me that was the world they call PvE. I rushed my character with crafting to focus on WvW for 100%. I have completed it by now ofcourse, got my legendary and working on my second. But it was the worst game experience i had.
WvW can be really easy to complete if you got a few guys in the guild that go for the same goal, also being a bit tanky helps, you don’t have to kill people you come across, those you come across will be better anyways since most of them will be roamers but being in a group is ofcourse safer. And with easy i mean the easy points, like camps and starter towers that flip a lot and everything that isn’t in a tower or keep. So that means you should be able to complete each border for atleast 60-70% fairly easy.
Don’t ask a commander in map chat if he wants to go cap that tower or keep because you need that POI. Get ready to get flamed and hated if you do that.
I wanted to call my character and pet “Dev Y U No Love WvW”
But they didn’t allow it :/ I wonder why.
i finally started getting ascended stuff. i saved up for another ascended ring come to find out i cant wear it. i wasted 35 days on a ring i cant put on. now i have to save up all over again .Anet please put a warning up saying you cant have two of the same ascended trinkets like you can the exotics . this is the first time i am upset with you guys
I would suggest you to contact support with this problem. If you explain you didn’t knew this and for example if you bought 2 Offensive infusions instead of 1 Offensive and 1 Defensive and you ask for 1 offensive to be deleted and in return you want a defensive, they will help you with that.
I had the same problem and i contacted support and it was done really quickly.
This is one of the reasons i don’t have a legendary. I hate getting all the POI, Vista’s Skillpoint in PvE.
They should delete it from PvE so i can get a legendary aswell :/

New ranger meta! Dance ’till they drop! Get your dancing shoes on Rangers!
Walk up to the Battle Historian, when u talk to him, the very first option is to check if u are eligible for tickets. Hit that and a chest will appear just like for dailies.
How many times have you felt useless when you’re doing anything, be it WvW, PvP or PvE?
Never.
Skin are really the best rewards you can get! Make you stand out in the crowd, like legendaries these days!
Those WvW reward skins will be a rare sight since allmost everyone who completed the meta can buy atleast 1. Wait Huh!?
Take a look here aswell: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OMG-If-you-only-knew-this-tips-for-new-players/page/5#post4001511
Some great handy tips for you to get started in the world of Tyria.
And yes, try to find a guild that welcomes new players and helps them getting started.
You will leanr the game and its mechanics and perhaps make friends
Shout in a big city like Lion’s Arch that you are looking for an active, helpfull guild. You will get whispers from people for sure!
We a welcome you to this magnificent world of pleasure and fun we call Tyria!
Enjoy and good luck!
All my kills are funny.
@Xerion.8014- yes I prefer GW2 combat- but then I am still trying to wrap my head around combat in AA- no dodge takes getting used to.
AA looks promising, have played the Alpha a bit, waiting for the beta to start.
Going to be a heavy task to adjust to the old combat system in AA and keep being used to GW2 combat system since i will be playing both.
Anyway, i’m going incredibly off topic. And i apoligize for that.
Much love!
what you want is great
- but the this is a Themepark MMO- what you are describing is a Sandbox or in the case of AA a Sandpark. Those two things are very different- you cannot have persistent player driven content in a Themepark game- at least I have never seen it.
I have also not seen any sign that Anet has any interest in adding such content- or even sandbox lite content like fishing- housing or whatever
which is why I play AA- it feels very much more alive when the world around you is player driven
What would this have to do with GW2 being a theme park? It would be just as “off to the side” as WvW and spvp. Put it in the Mists for all I care (though I do favor something I can look at on the normal map). It doesn’t need to have any more story involvement than those other things.
then I misunderstood your OP- from what you were describing it sounded like a persistent environment in the world- you said large map or island- I was thinking a place like South Sun from that.
still it is sandbox content- wvwvw is as boring as it is because it is still a themepark.
if you attack another guild you want to burn their castle and burn their fields- if you could claim it permanently and charge the peasants taxes, so much the better.
that is SandboxI cannot see Anet doing content like that- it would be awesome, just don’t think they would do it.
In the mists or where ever.
All their content is designed to funnel you a long a path- which is fine for a themepark game because you want to keep the players togetherMaybe they could sell add-ons for the buildings like furniture, paintings, etc on the gem store. Isn’t that where all roads lead? Come up with new cool content for us so they can sell us overpriced toys to go with it.
And you were right as far as the island like southsun, except I was thinking much bigger and private to your guild. You go there and it takes you to your guild’s version of the zone. Maybe there could be a browser option to be able to check out other guild kingdoms that they’ve made public. Maybe a voting /rating feature too. Remember this doesn’t have to just be for GvG matches.
Have 5-10 areas on the map where your guild can make a claim, and build from there. Castle, houses, etc, however and wherever you like within the claimed area. But no other kingdom claims would be on the map until you queue for GvG and it takes you to an instance where the enemy guild has one of the different claim locations and a matching number of players.
Maybe with an alliance system, the zone can automatically merge yours and your ally’s map so you can be together when not in GvG.
Which is basically what Archeage online is all about.
ArcheAge is a step backwards if you look at the combat system.
Apart from that it has everything GW2 should already had from the start.
Medium armor is really satisfying aswell! I use it on my ranger aswell
Try it out!
I’m at work, roaming the forums.
Anet loves your thankfulness and thank you for investing 20 gold in Bloodlust sigils.
You might have been playing on a level scale above your actualy level, as you might know all zones are seperated in different level scales. It can be overwhelming if you aren’t noticing that you are doing quests in a higher scaled part of the zone.
Or you where trying to complete an group event on your own. I admire your bravery for that.
Guild Wars 2 is ofcourse focused on group play. Even events are build around that. Starting grounds are ofcourse less populated then the higher ones.
I would suggest to focus on the solo aspect of doing the personal story together with completing every map you get in, doing all the Vistas, POI, hearts and skill points.
It’s what i did with my first character, i followed the story untill i got onto a point where the next story was a higher level then i was.
When that happend i went on completing the zone, doing the hearts etc, and tag all the events i come across. I did this untill i was 1-2 levels higher then my living story and i went on doing that.
For me this was a great way to learn the game and doing 2 things that are key to this game at the same time!
As Meluna stated, weapon choice is also important. Some weapons aren’t a good choice for completing quests solo.
Joining a guild that helps new players is a great solution aswell, you can still do everything solo, but if you get into some troubles you can ask your guild for some help!
Hope this helps a bit
(edited by Xerion.8014)
You need to quest onto the server that has the guild missions unlocked. In this case it’d mean that you need to quest to Blacktide for the duration of guild missions.
I think you mean guest instead of quest.
Sorry for being such a grammar nanny
I found it impossible to solo
Solo in what aspect? If you can’t do the personal on your own then you doing something wrong :c
Finishng dungeons solo is still not possible, nor has there been released any solo activity in PvE that you can call endgame worthy. I guess most want it to become possible, same instance only scaled to doing it solo.
Anyway, not much has changed, its all focused on group play and i don’t see that change tbh. If you want to go do stuff solo, go roam in WvW
Play what you like to play, i personally haven’t had any problems joining proper speedruns with my ranger and necro.
Cashshop isn’t really that special, special finishers, mini-pets, skins and other stupid stuff that you don’t really need unless you love spending cash on those kind of items.
Not much has changed, but hey! Living Story Season 2 is coming up. Starting first of July! Perhaps it brings more solo acitivity since the way living story is going to be is different then from season 1. You probably have read it already. Might be interesting for you if it will be more an solo living story
PS: Good to have you back!!!! We missed you

If you get your stacks on land and you go underwater WITHOUT a underwater weapon with bloodlust sigil you will LOOSE your stacks.
If you go underwater WITH a underwater weapon with bloodlust sigil you will KEEP your stacks.
So your answer wil be YES!
Yea, now we can die without needing financial aid to repair our armors!
Stay with ranger my dearest soulmate :x We are the uncrowned kings and queens of this game!
Anyway, Guardians seem to be good load of fun in every aspect of the game. PvE, PvP and WvW. Solid choice to get involved in everything.
Variety in playstyles? Well every profession has lots of different playstyles. But 90% sticks with the meta for certain aspects of the game.
I logged out and back in, now it’s letting me salvage stuff…
That’s great news, i already was making a post about what you can and can’t salvage.
Saves me a lot of work typing it
Have fun!
“Due to fierce financial competition, one of the armor and weapons merchants in each staging area has declared bankruptcy and moved on. Their goods have been claimed by the remaining merchants.”
Check your homeborder (Citadel Waypoint) and walk south where you see the merchants, they should have what you are looking for.
Only option you have is deleting the items, you can’t use it on a different character or salvage it.
The items will stay souldbound even if you deleted your character.
Allright, Underworld got wrecked during the last tourny and might have give up on WvW as a server. But that doesn’t mean WvW needs to change into PvE with a world boss.
No PvE in WvW. What we want is less PvE in WvW.
My Father recently decided he wanted to learn how to play GW2.
Wish i had a father like that!! My father only complains that i play too much games.
Fact is i only play GW2.
If we can outlaw all Charrs that would be great, after that introduce housing so i can use them as my slaves.
After that its time to do the same to the Asura race and after that we light a fire in the Grove.

#SoloRoamIsNotDead
Thank you all for your input. I guess I’ll give in and hobble along with my private commanders poking camps, since you say it actually does help and I get to play with my friends =)
PS: lvl 15 is my WvW level. Was supposed to say I was there a little, but not too much. I have 9 lvl80s in exotic gear, 3 of which I have used in WvW. Now I just need to decide which one to use =D
Small Havoc activities can be great fun with friends, especially if you and your friends build you class around eachother for maximum result.
I might be a bit late, but for me (as a player who only does WvW) there is a big variety in experiencing WvW.
It all depends in what you like to do, if that is to follow the blue dot on the map with the other 50 players then it can become boring really fast, unless you are dedicated to the game mode or are sort of braindead.
Small havoc with guild/friends. I do this myself a lot, by playing WvW you will meet people who do the same, out of nowhere (atleast in my case) we team up to do all kind of small activity that contribute in a great way to the server.
Roaming, with this i mean solo or in pares, since IMHO i find everything bigger then 2 a havoc activity. Roaming for me means solo capping camps, sniping dolyaks, scouting enemy groups, contesting, picking off stranglers. All the small things you can do to help the commander or havoc group to achieving its goal. Besides that solo roam for duels in WvW can be great aswell. I do this on my Ranger since people tend to bump in to you for an easy kill, well they are in for a suprise then
Besides all of this, you can also join a WvW guild who raids each or multiple days in the week. Its all more organized, and gives (atleast it gives me) more satisfaction then lets say joining a blue dot on the map (pug zerg). In these guilds, there will be people doing all the stuff above it aswell (most of the times atleast).
Hope this helps a bit. At the end if you don’t enjoy it, you better not play it.
But giving it a few weeks and you will grow in it, becoming better and perhaps start liking a few aspects in WvW.
Take care and have fun
(edited by Xerion.8014)
That being said, it would be great if there was an OP risen npc zerg that would spawn only during halloween. Something like a bunch of hard hitting champs that would be a challenge of some sort to an organized zerg.
Only during halloween though.
No, that will get the pve players wait untill it spawns to farm the champs for loot.
WvW should never be themed in an big way by an event. Wintersday treb/cata shots oke. But even the pressents that drop are too much, its an distraction and the mobs they spawn are annoying btw.
WvW should not be touched by any event. It’s a battlefield not a playground.
Don’t bring the kitten risen in WvW not as mobs but as " transmuted players".
The End.
But then how do I stare at my characters bum?
No necrophilia please.
You are evil! Changing the words i said! Evuuuul!!!
How I got into downstate is another story tho.
Staying alive and stomping your opponent is more fun
On Topic: I wish we had a kind of animal pen for our pets. If you had enough of killing your enemies you can go cuddle with your pets in the pen. Give those pets you never use some attention aswell.
And besides that i love the pets i use. They can help you in a great way if you use the right one on the right build.

(edited by Xerion.8014)
Since they can only be crafted with watchwork sprockets.
And for as far as i know those watchwork sprockets can’t be attained anymore. Unless you buy them from the TP, so the price of the sprockets will affect the price of the rune.
You might take a look at that. Perhaps that explains it.
Correct me if im wrong tho.
(TL;DR?) So, I’m looking for two things:
1. A WvW solo-roam build that is backed up by experienced players / review
2. An answer to the question: Should I even bother with my Ranger for this purpose? Should I use another class for solo roaming instead, such as my Warrior or a Thief?
Thanks for your time, and if there are threads I missed (sorry, I tried!) with answers to my questions, feel free to link instead of taking time to repost info here.
Answer Q1: Will send you 2 of the current builds i use at this time, both really effective in all aspects of roaming. Expect them in about 6-8ish hours. Typing this while i’m " working" .
Answer Q2: Be different, play what suits you and what brings you the most fun. I roam on my ranger because it gives me good fights. People tend to bump in to you for an easy kill, they are in for a challenge then. Also the bad image ranger has is bugging the class. We can and are really powerful in roaming, the thing is, you need to learn to play your build, this goes for every build actually.
Hope this helps.
Don’t bring the kitten risen in WvW not as mobs not as " transmuted players".
The End.
That such small thing can lead to such great happiness. Thank you.
Rangers can spam endless Fury, Swiftness and Regen with a Shout build, while still having a great amount of DPS, spike damage and survivability.
But it requires some good knowledge of your class you are playing and it isn’t that easy as playing a “boring” Hammer Warrior. You are focusing on your pet alot, since its key to keep it alive in the first 10-30 seconds of the fight.
I tend to use my ranger every now and then during raids, just to try and show that rangers can be usefull in their own way. But all the hate stays, even when you dont die that quickly as warriors do when they get focused or spiked.
All the hate we rangers receive from people are people who play the easy class, its bandwagon hate, it has become normal to hate rangers, for what reason? No one can explain, they only say rangers suck, but dont say on what things we suck, why can’t they. Because they never played a ranger
Even in roaming im seeing less rangers these days, those rare ones are mostly Longbow ones. Not that hard to take on.
