A trade-able new currency like coins could be initially added. It could be called Black Loin Credits. BLC for short, could be traded for almost anything in the game. BLC would be heavily taxed. This tax would be placed in a main pool of collected BLC taxes, server pool, and local area pool. There would be a tab in the BLTC pane, where taxes collected are shown. Players would directly be a able to vote on what is done with these taxes. Later on, other things would be added to make use of this tax. Whether it be distributed in some sort of manner is to be seen. To be continue on that.
Transparency as much of what happens in the game should be an important thing, in order to inform players of what’s going on behind the scenes.

There needs to be more potential losses in the game. There needs to be more at stake when one engages in a situation. This loss could be anything from unique lose-able currencies that have high value to thing such as personal items. Any gameplay element old or new could be made to be at loss. When a player involves ones self in a different part of the game, that person takes risks and these risks could be small or large. Some situations could jeopardize large parts of the gameplay experience while others may only fare for minimal hazards. Although there are these potential risks placed in the game, there should be equal (or sometime almost equal) and opposite gains or rewards to offset the dangers involved.
Some loses could be instant, short term, long term, loses over time. Some could be temporary or not, in a mild or strong manner. Some could relate to guild related elements. Some could affect hearts, resources gathered, trading post things, skills, jumping puzzles, environmental changes, dynamic events, story lines, spvp, wvw, personal gains, general area gains. These are only some examples that could be expanded on.
Try not to be too severe or extreme for the gains and loses, unless appropriate. Otherwise, players are going to hate it.
That’s it for now. Until another post.

Localized trade shops

Zahld.4956

Have local trade shops that have markets not based on player trading, where players can go to find better deals for selling and buying. Prices would change on a daily basis. Individual players would only be given a limited buy or sell amount for each commodity per day. This limit would vary from commodity and change also. The algorithm of the variation could be anets choice. These shops could help shift trakitten opulation around to less popular areas and enhance exploring for traders because they might find a good trading shop in lucky areas where they can make a little easy gold. Price fluctuations could happen on an hourly basis also or even vary from shop to shop. This could also apply to other sales items in the game too. This will add more play to the market and attempt to save some coin or try to make some easy coin instead of having a leveled out stale market without fluctuations. Some shops could even have deals on in-game store items too or even unique gem bought items not found in the BLTC. Well that’s all for now..

Have players slip down slopes when walking down a fairly steep one, and if they keep slipping they’ll fall to their backs and keep sliding down. This would be more usual in icy areas too. To prevent slipping and falling players would have to down before they fall or try to run upwards but at a slower pace going up.
Just a slippery slope mechanic.

WvW war machines

Zahld.4956

WvW needs more mobile war machines to fight against, instead of just direct player fights. Having an army of war units to fear instead of just players running around and building stationary sieging equipment is more fun. This adds more strategy to WvW also because then players would have to create strategies to defeat these units. Use the RTS game model to create these units and the gameplay should work well. Ex., tank like units would have high armor and high area of effect damage but can easily be taken down by infantry units or tank destroyer units etc. War is about strategy and infantry combat shouldn’t be the main gameplay of a war game. Get more RTS devs to develop this part of the game if needed.

Some of these skills may connect with other main skills. For example, a main skill may project a fireball; a secondary skill may function in a way that goes "within 5 seconds of projecting a fireball, the fireball is denoted when skill is used otherwise player detonates aoe damage in location skill is used..etc, or another would cause conditions instead, but the player has the quick option of using either one on demand. These two skills could work in tandem also if the fireball is not diminished, etc. Sort of like a mesmer mechanic that is customize-able and is available for all professions. Maybe all of these skills are shared among all professions except for a few exclusive skills. There could also be a few skills that are borrowed from other professions available to all.

Solution(s): Layer 2 leveling to accommodate for above stated problems and to gain core game content access. Parts of layer 1 leveling could be moved to layer 2 if needed. Both level layers are independent and transparent of each other. Layer 1 uses experience points to level and is used as a personal progress metric and requires a lengthier time frame to progress in while layer 2 is based on a tutorial type, step-by-step, quick level progressing system…more to this later.

A secondary skill bar and pool of skills

Add a secondary skill bar with a secondary pool of skills associated with it. This bar would be something like the primary skill bar but smaller than it and it would sit on top of the skill bar. This bar would always be available but could swap places with the primary bar if needed and be resized accordingly. There would be 10 slots in this bar, 8(like gw1) of which are for skills from a secondary pool and 2 optional function slots. The 8 slots in the bar are fully customize-able much like in gw1. The purpose of the new bar is to enhance, augment and interact with primary skills and skills of other professions (I.e. others players skills), much like combo skills. These skills could perform others functions if needed to also if necessary. Most of these skills could extend the actions of another skill or modify it in some way. These skills could be used as complimentary, supplementary or modify skills. They could be used like combo skills also. Most would be dependent on primary skills. Well that’s all for now on this skill pool. As for the 2 two other slots…more to come..

A developing world

in Suggestions

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

As the worlds (pve, spvp, wvw) gw2 continue to age, having new environmental changes and additions (villages, animal migrations, new roads, flooded areas, monuments built, storm devastated cities, famine, natural disasters etc) added to the world makes for a natural feeling world, but way to introduce these changes could come in the form of maybe instant events that lasts at cycles of intervals at a time for appropriate changes while others may have minor additions like signs or marking points foreshadowing changes to come.

For example, if a village is about to be introduced in an area, have models of partially built stuff in place of the area being introduced. These model could have two of three stages of development models before the addition is added also. This would help gradually introduce new content without completely shocking the player unless intended to for event purposes or otherwise. Structural additions and other mapping content should stay as permanent as possible unless some conflict arises or it receives excessive player discontent.

Otherwise there shouldn’t be a need to discard it if players have been introduced to it, which is causing a big ruckus lately. These are just some guideline suggestions for the devs as the game continues forward. Also, I suggest refining, fixing and polishing current game content and mechanics before adding new large and underdeveloped content also. Small and well made content might be more appreciated than large unpolished stuff.

Also new and never before seen content, mechanics and gameplay is great too. Having smarter and tougher AI for the pve baddies would help alleviate boredom of veteran players also… well that’s all for now…actually overhaul for something aren’t bad either. And make note of good suggestions in the suggestions forum to make a compilation of good suggestion and needed fixes. Try to use and sort out the good from the bad also..k that’s it for now.

Play-style mechanic revision: Have a second skill bar set that is fully customizable with eight skills with its own pool of skills and that can be switched to much like weapons skills. This way you have your own builds (own play-style) plus a fail-safe skill-bar partial made by you and anet, if your build fails to meet combat requirements. Gw1 players like it, gw2 players like it (maybe) (skill balancing may increase somewhat, but that is the rug you weave). *Fully-customizable skill bar may or may not be affected by traits and profession mechanics may not be accessible with this bar either. Flawed fixed. Everyone is happy now. The OPs dissatisfaction may also be fixed with more skills available too also… anyways this hybrid approach would also create a 18+ almost full-time usability skill management system for players. Oh and this skill bar would be weapon specific to currently unavailable weapons also. And more to it, each weapon has 8 skills available to it, and these weapons and skills that belong with them would be available to all professions with only minor augmentations to the skills to accommodate each professions uniqueness. These I would call non-profession specific weapons and skills really… well that’s some food for thought for those interested.

focusing suggestion topics

For the suggestion forum (and maybe others), let’s have sticky topics that players could focus a subtopic of suggestion on. Instead of having topics all over the place, a few topics could be put on sticky for a week or so to be discussed on. Furthermore, sub-suggestion forums could help organize suggestions more and help separate topics spaces to make things easier to find; making things more productive for devs and players alike. Redundancy of main forum wouldn’t be a problem either (e.g. professions, general, pave, PvP etc…or…a suggestions sub-forum could be appended to those instead…just one way of doing it there). Well that’s my suggestion for the day I guess.

Since each weapon has a set of preset skills, why don’t each weapon get a few set of skills available to it to do different types of combat tactics. Each set could be given a name to identify what of set it is. For example’ “Escape” set could help the player escape easier in combat, “Heal giver” could allow players to heal more in combat, “Nuclear attack” could apply more dps(damage per second) than usual. Etc. A game mechanic that could also be added would be to prevent players from using one or every other build (or build types) for one or all weapons also (sorry if this might sound confusing but there are different possibilities).
Also to expand further customization, if each skill would have it’s own pane that would give a break down of what it does and allow modifications to what it does. At each point in its action(s) or if there’s more than one, a choice from a set of replacement actions could be chosen. Each skill would be like a sentence where the verbs or nouns could be replaced like an ad-lib game. Or whole sentence skills could be changed also…. This would allow for more direct skill augmenting or adjusting to allow higher levels of customization to combat. (potentially). Well…that just came to me right now and i just wanted to share that with the GW2 peeps.
Thanks for reading.

Also, i line of sight might add a little more bit of realism and strategy to foes. Instead of a circle around the foe, a frontal pie or cone shaped line of sight aggro range could be put in placed or added in addition. This line of sight range could widen or narrow down as a result of engagement also. It could also change directions also, based on head movement of the foe. Foes could scan the area moving their head left to right etc, adjusting their line of sight accordingly as they do so. More tactical gameplay could be had from this type of aggro as a result of this. This line of sight should be visible to the player to allow players to see this LOS and provide more gameplay. More difficult areas could have non-visible LOS to increase gameplay difficulty.

NPC Foe aggro range dynamics and AI

Zahld.4956

Have NPC foe aggro range increase when aggro’d if it is an aggressive foe. After losing aggro, the aggro range radius would decrease to a mid aggro range. After awhile it would decrease to normal. Then after a long while it would decrease to it’s lowest, which is only slightly smaller than it’s normal range.
Timid or defensive foes would have a fear range that would function in the same way as an aggro range, except in this fear range, the foe would evade the player when in range instead of pursue the player.
Also when foes are aggro’d, there should be some cue like an exclamation mark near it’s head that would indicate to the player that the foe has been aggro’d. An asterisk mark could denote fear in a retreating foe.

This is a thread to allow race changes, not otherwise. A reply of conflicting interests would only cause you to be considered a trolling poster. Get flamed for trolling if you’d like. Its better you make a new thread to oppose this suggestion instead of trying to make an opposition to the supporters of this post.

Amusing, if you cannot handle dissenting opinions then leave the internet. This is a place of discussion, how you reply to others (which is quite badly when they aren’t behind your opinion) quantifys how likely they are to take your suggestion to the devs. There are, as has been posted before, 80+ threads about this, meaning you break the TOS for starting another one anyway.

If you cannot handle rational reasons against your opinion, and cannot propose rational counters devoid of emotion (hint, you haven’t) than you are the troll in the discussion.

Also, as has been stated so many times, what anyone wants is irrelivent as CC Eva has already given us word that the devs are set against this firmly. There are far too many problems.

Seriously, if you make it past 30 before realizing your dislike for a race than you fail at noticing things pretty badly. Asura weapons being tiny? You will see it easily prior to 30. Voices you don’t like? Yup, you’ll hear plenty prior to 30. Animations? Yet again prior to 30. There is NOTHING about your character you cannot discover prior to 30 about liking/hating it.
Can you grow to hate it? Sure if you don’t take breaks. However, if you grow to hate it than you must make another…not simply change skins. Thus don’t go overboard gathering and fully equipping a character you don’t love.

TOS
Do not engage in staff call-outs. Using the words “ArenaNet” or any staff member’s name will not expedite the answer to your query.

See you already broke TOS already. Not all internet discussion is open to dissenting opinions, though I prefer this one not be, although I wasn’t the OP.

I’m fully behind my opinion, let there allow race changes! I want to change my race! You know you want to change your race! I don’t enjoy re-leveling as others do, so let me change my race. It hurts my eyes to play my race, change it.

I am a robot devoid of emotions when I propose opinions against reason. Trolls are usually the ones who try to anger someone for a response, and currently, I am angry yet emotionless. Must – be – low – power…. And I beep beep too!

Troll on dissenter troll on. Your reasons cannot defeat my opinions.

They look more like just general guide lines that are lazily (or unthoughtfully) thrown into the TOS without realizing their potential ramifications on the moderators and other forum patrons who may try to quote the TOS to use as a threat against another patron or to silence them in some manner. Most of those TOS lines are way too broad in scope or not even practical or even necessary as a part of a TOS agreement. A good portion of those TOS agreements are absurd and need revisement.

Some may cause weather changes some may enable different creatures to appear. Some may require multiple points to activate.
