skill [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

a skill that puts a player on a ground mount that does something (yet to be determined).
a skill that puts a player on an air mount that does something (yet to be determined) and prevents ground attacks (maybe jumped attacks may reach this air mount).
a skill that creates a slippery area on the ground.
a skill that creates a cylindrical wall around the player, all actions get transferred to the other side of the cylinder and if an enemy walks into the cylinder, it exits out the opposite side.
a skill that causes the player(s) and enemy(ies) to trade places.
a skill that cause the enemy to move in opposite directions that enemy tries to move to (example if the enemy tries to move forward, enemy would move backwards instead), damage could occur when moving also.
a skill that creates clones of the enemy.
have combo walls, combo domes, etc.

pvp stronghold overtime [suggestion]

gold sellers [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

skill bar GUI [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

be able to move all skills and profession mechanics to either side of the health ball to be able to quickly move the mouse cursor to them instead of having to move the mouse so far to get to the utility skills and then back to weapons and profession skills/mechanics.

this helps for quick easy pvp gameplay.

We need stealth counter skills

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

""Now, it is true that stealth lacks counterplay in that you can’t target something that you can’t see. And therefore all the reveals will be useless against good thiefs if they are not AoE. In fact we should just trash the current reveal system.

My suggestion is to give stealth a periodic “Here I am. Now I’m gone” mechanic. That can be done through particles (dust from footsteps and whatnot), sound cues and the stealth giving you visibility from time to time (think of leaving a translucend snapshot of your char every few seconds (like 10 i.e.) that poofs shortly after (1/2 sec or lower). This would give you the possibility to say “He went there” but also gives you a juking potential plus that stuff goes 11/10 with the getting stalked feeling.)
Plus… we could allow chaining stealth without the “cd duration” then… That would be awsome.

If that’s not enough to counter stealth we can think of including reveal again. I would go with a buff that gives you a small AoE of revealing though. That’s more in line with highened senses and less binary (wait it out or jump stab from the range you’re still invisible).""
———-
""I agree, and I play mesmer and thief. This game simply lacks stealth counterplay, especially when compared to otehr games in the genre.

Stealth needs to break on damage.
Stealth should not be spammable, it needs a CD debuff.
Any “offensive” action should break stealth, which is currently not the case with mesmers
ALL professions should have some trait and/or utility access to some sort of stealth detection.
Alternately, some builds / professions without detection, should be outright immune to bonus damage gained from stealth via trait lines.

If these things were implimented, then an extra form of stealth could be implimented, camouflage, stationary only and semi-visible in close proximity, but not from far distances.

Things of this nature would make this game much more tactical, and players skill via decisions as to when to use or not use stealth and respective countermeasures would give the game as a whole far more depth then it has now. ""

these sound like good possible stealth counters.

world boss spawning [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

have world bosses spawn on regular time schedules and location, then have off-time between, then have random time and location, then repeat.

regular time and location—> off-time—> random time and location—> off-time—> regular time and location

works for regulars and has surprises.

active specializations [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

each specialization line has a progression bar that is filled up as a player participates in combat. at any time a player can activate a specialization, at which point, however filled up it is, determines how many traits are active. specialization regression or full loss of progression can be caused by any number of ways (not fully determined yet).
this could be a profession mechanic that can allow a profession to a have more than three specializations fully active or partially active.

or have a fourth or more specialization that is progressed while the other three are always active. this could be worked around in many ways.

only one or two could be active always while others need to be progressed…

max specialization progression could trigger other things also as another mechanic…

things to collect [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

there’s not enough things to collect or acquire in the open world (or instanced parts). have more things to collect and find and gather. have things that aren’t used for crafting. have stashes of loots or buried treasure or nodes that may have one or many loots items in one search (instead of having to spend more time gathering). have some miniatures that can be found by searching the world for them. have things that could be found far above ground.

have flying mounts that change gameplay from land and water traveling to aerial gameplay. flight would stay far above land to not interfere with it. there would be aerial waypoints to go to like on the ground too. when in an air mount, players can not travel to lower elevations or dismount mid-air. If a players’ mount gets severely damaged then it may crash to land and the player waypoints to the nearest aerial-waypoint. there would be things to find and collect like on land and water also. there would also be aerial mounted foes to combat also. aerial gameplay would consist of mainly firing bullets and rockets at things and collecting things as you fly through them and whatever other way. dodges could consists of things like barrel rolls and flip and other aerial maneuvers. dogfights would be a large part of things. there may be also drop-off areas to land onto and change to land-base gameplay (floating islands and castles etc).

well that’s all for now..

oh and add some underwater mounts to enhance underwater gameplay, with designated underwater mount areas.

build trait tab confusing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

traits in the build tab under traits sub tab are place horizontally with adepts going from left to right while specialization adept traits go vertically from top to bottom. this is very confusing when comparing them to adjust builds. making them all ordered vertically would make things much less confusing when looking through them. thank you.

a different trait diversity [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

currently each trait line of three major traits (adept, master, and gm) is spread into three specializations. to increase diversity and choice, have it where two or three trait lines could be placed into one specialization so you could potentially use all the traits of a specialization at once and highly specialize in the specialization (with either minor traits increased per specialization or just loss of minor traits by combining trait line selection).

on that note with something related, if each specialization gave an extra skill to use (in addition to skill bar and profession skills) for a trait line used in it, each specialization could have three skills that could possibly be gained by putting three lines into that specialization (just something that came up with it).

these extra specialization skills could be specialization mechanics of their own.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

do you want 100 traits with 5 good traits out of them or 20 traits with 10 good traits out of them? more doesn’t always mean better. but variety doesn’t hurt too much if it doesn’t cost too much balance and debugging time, etc.

room type and other things [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

simulator room (customizable sand box)

choose from a number of mini maps or just plain rooms of different sizes
choose from a large number of props to place in the room
choose from a number of functional environmental things (switches, platform booster, capture-able sentries, etc) to use in the room
choose from a number of objectives or combination of objectives
choose from a large number of different or same foes to combat (possibly multiple copies of bosses, champs, regular foes, or any other not mentioned foe type(some limits may be place to prevent exceeding limits of game engine). Each foe is worth a certain amount of points when defeated, depending on their difficulty. End of simulation tabulates total won and loss (undefeated counts negative) (possibly from a time constraint limit option) and balances out to total out a final score.
different high scores or combination of any of the above choices may lead to different awards or unlocks or secret levels, or secret prizes (may not stay secret that long though…), or anything for that matter. completing secret things may lead to revealing of other secret things that can be obtained and so on.
Essentially you create your own game to test the limits of one or a group of players (and possibly create new gameplay or content)
This room will have five room saves to use or repeat if necessary (maybe more).
simulator room allows players to create their own end game and possibly create their own game within the confinements of the simulator room. this room may contain things and objects not normally found in the normal game (like different robot types, mounts, prototype things, commando profession, stick figure people, any number of things, FPS weapons, RTS type buildings with soldier unit production…)
add more additions as needed.

other suggestions.

have mini waypoints right next to each npcs (merchants etc) so that you don’t have to go to a waypoint and can go directly to any npc.

single click on npcs (bankers, merchants, repair anvils, etc) auto opens what they have or do, instead of double clicking on them(talking to them could be done afterwards).

have floating seats for spectators to sit down in and watch the fight from above.

speed up illusion move speed when shattering.

many skills have too high of a cooldown time to be effective in spvp.

specialization utility skills [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

have specialization utility skills that are only available when the specialization that its from is selected. example: selected fire specialization would add more fire utility skills to choose from in your utility skills pool, and if water is selected, water util skills are also available. (hopefully more skills from the gw1 skill library will be added to increase game-play and help solidify gw2s combat.)
traits are very system wide but lets have more individual tools to use with more skills.
maybe gw1 attribute points and skill line system could be imported to gw2 to enrich gw2 game-play range (it’s already made, why not import it and let gw2 players use it. direct port might not be possible but modifications could solve that.) and there’s lots of useful gw1 skills too.

traits & skills view [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

in the traits and skills list of the build tab, have an option to view icons and names of each skill and trait instead of just icons only (makes identifying each thing easier).

also if the three specializations used were put next to the skills and opened upwards, it’d be easier to change specialization quickly without having to open the build panel. (example given below)

ranked arenas [suggestion]

in PvP

Posted by: Zahld.4956

Zahld.4956

add qualifying status to be able to play in ranked arenas. when you press ranked arena, if you do not qualify, you are put into qualifying matches until you meet qualifications for ranked arenas (whatever that is).
have different three tiers of ranks to separate player skill levels. each tier could have different levels to separate player skill levels even further.
each succeeding tier rank would increase rewards to reward higher skill players.
have simpler maps for first tier ranks and increase complexity as tiers increase.
give rewards to farm accordingly to rank level.
make high ranking maps for the highest ranks exceedingly difficult but with equally rewarding awards to match.
have three levels map of difficulty for each tier level, having harsher terrain, less time, quicker cap time, etc with each higher level of difficult.
