I have played Gw2 for over a year now with no issue. However this week I have had 2 cases where I got kicked from game mid PvP match and was unable to log back in for an hour or so. Furthermore I was unable to log into the Guild Wars forums at the same time despite the fact that I could use every other website fine.
I checked my firewall and Guild Wars wasn’t blocked. Likewise I checked the game status and forums and both were live when I was having problems.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?
Even in Ruby I’m constantly getting PvE players in my team. Today we told a thief to go kill Svanir and he replied “Whats Svanir?”.
Blocking Ranked Arenas until you hit at least PvP Level 20 is an absolute neccessity imo. This season has been totally destroyed by PvE’rs trying to get wings or rewards. Me and a few other friends who were Legendary last season have been unable to pass Ruby this time round simply because of aweful matchmaking into PvE teams.
I have been genuinely confused for a while as to why people keep saying Rev is OP and its the best class to go in Diamond/Legendary. Last Season I played Rev and loved it, I would say it was borderline OP and I got to Legendary no problem.
However this season I feel like Rev completes sucks. I have played around 100 games on my Rev this season trying out all kinds of builds and I just get destroyed. Necros specially own me in seconds. I do much better in Diamond on my Thief or Mesmer than my Rev can even hope to do.
The funny this is at Diamond I haven’t even fought against a Rev who was ‘OP’, I often focus a Rev in PvP first because its so kitten easy to kill them. I have met Necros, Engis, Mesmers and even Eles who seem OP and are near impossible to kill yet never have i faced a Rev who even seemed close. And Im 2 tiers from Legendary now.
So my question is: Why on earth is Rev being called OP right now? And if so what am I doing wrong?
We were about 2 events away from hitting T4, The bar was touching the end. It was so annoying!
So I have been trying for days to get a T4 night and my bladed Chest. Finally today we have a successful map and end up only needing the Matriarch in order to achieve T4 with 15 minutes left on the clock.
But what do you know, The Matriarch bugs out and sits under the map where no one can attack it. This is infuriating specially when I have been needing T4 for so long now and we were on target to do it.
Has this bug happened to anyone else? Has it been reported before? Am I able to petition Anet and receive my Bladed Chest?
Coming from a thief’s point of view I have no idea why people say Rev is OP. It is perhaps the only class I know I will beat 1 on 1 comfortably. Skilled players on all classes stand a good chance to kill me but a good Rev can never beat me
There absolute has to be some kind of reward for participation in PvP games. In the current state of the game if one team loses a few team fights after a couple of minutes players will go AFK hampering the rest of the team and creating a negative environment.
A reward for players fighting is a necessity in order to save the league system. This can be in multiple forms:
- Not losing a pip if the losing score is above 400
- Not losing a pip or gaining a pip if you as an individual get a high score.
Just a few things like this would encourage players to be more positive and stay in the fight longer. I’m tired now of getting multiple games in a row where my team gives up right at the start and i’m forced to run around solo.
The fact a Power Ranger can CC lock a Revenant and kill him before taking a single hit shows clearly that Revenant can’t even be considered OP
You basically want to Nerf Rev into the ground then. GG
This is particularly evident with Elite skills and Hammer skills in pvp. I barely even bother to use Consume Chaos or Jade winds anymore because more than half the time they just miss the targets. The amount of times in PvP I have run to mid at the start of the fight and used consume chaos only for the entire other team to evade it and I am just stuck standing like an idiot is ridiculous.
I really hope this gets changed soon
This is such a good idea! It makes leagues fair for all and more of a test of skill with far less frustration.
They should still also include a guild league or something along those lines too. But i 100% think leagues should be solo queue only
My main is a Thief, I love playing it. However with the introduction of PvP leagues and the current state of a meta I play my Rev or Ele in PvP in order to at least help the team. I know Thief is my love but I also no that its not worth playing because getting wins is the most important.
However today I have been matched with 2 thieves in my team 3 times. And all 3 times it was an absolute defeat. I think our best was 60-500. Asking the Thieves to switch character wasn’t even an option. They just refused to play something else and then just served to enable the team to lose.
Don’t get me wrong, having one thief in the team can be good. They can quickly cap points. But most people in ranked are smart enough to shut down 2 points and then the thief is just taking the spot in the team of someone who could be much more useful.
So what can be done on this issue?
Playing solo and getting matched with an awe full guild team. Yup I lost 2 pips for this.
You need to toughen up.
If I needed to toughen up then I wouldn’t be complaining right now about those people who need to toughen up themselves haha.
First things first I love the PvP leagues. Whilst Guild Wars 2 is an amazing game it can often be frustratingly casual and easy to achieve things so the introduction of leagues and the way they work is great. On top of that the rewards are worthwhile. Whilst matchmaking is a different issue, In terms of the league itself the only people who can complain about it are those who have gotten too used to casual and easy to achieve things, something I’m glad Anet is finally doing something about.
However I feel like the PvP leagues are corrupting a lot of players and turning them into aggressive and vile people. At the end of the day this is a game and should be enjoyed, if you aren’t enjoying PvP then just don’t play ranked. The amount of times I have seen people say: “If any of you play like noobs then I will just AFK” is staggering.
Today I played a game where a player in the other team DC’d at the start. Needless to say we won the game effortlessly and I said in chat: “I’m sorry about your DC”. I then received strong hate messages from 2 of the players in the enemy team. I was shocked and it is what led me to write this post. I don’t even need to mention the amount of times people in teams mindlessly attack each other mid game when there is still a chance to win.
So what can be done? I’m all for leagues and don’t want them to change. But I feel like the Gw2 playerbase really need to sort their sh** out. This is a game and is meant to be enjoyed. I’m sure i’m not the only one who is tired of so many people’s negative and aggressive attitudes.
I originally loved this system. Losing pips makes the PvP rewards and higher leagues so much more desirable.
However after spending 10 hours pvping today and making it to 4 pips about 8 times before going back down to 1 pip I am so done. Getting stuck with people in your team who cant play and going up against kitten team of Dragonhunters, Necros and Eles. Something needs to change
I have played both Power build and condi on my Rev and I can safely say Condi has nothing on Power. In Condi you die to fast and lose the ability to buff the party. Guy who made this post is just a troll. On top of that I rarely ever see Condi Revs. Dragonhunters on the other hand there are about 3-4 per game.
If you want to talk seriously about nerfs then Dragonhunter is in serious need of one. Long before anyone else
Neither the Dragon Hunter or the Revanant are in “serious need” of nerfs. Most of the people who frequent the forums are in serious need of “learning to play.”
The Dragonhunter not needing a nerf argument is the biggest lie around. I rolled A Dragonhunter and having never played it before steam rolled the opposing teams just by spamming traps and bow skills.
If your argument back to me is the typical: Dodge traps or move away then clearly you dont know that Dragonhunter has 2 pulls to keep you trapped inside

Thief is like perfectly designed for conquest, unless something majorly gutted it or they gave another class equal mobility/stealth it will most likely always be meta in PvP.
Mesmer can already out Stealth us and has more mobility, so yuh
I’m definitely not a bad thief but at the same time I still have things to learn. I guess I’m just raging slightly because 2 weeks ago I was topping all leaderboards and now I’m just getting torn apart by everyone as Condi seems to be 90% of people in pvp now. I feel fine losing to a skilled player as it gives me motivation to find out where I went wrong and get better but when i’m getting annihalated by Condi without even taking a hit it just makes me feel hopeless.
I don’t deny that Thief is still good but I’m actually finding it rare to see another thief in pvp games now and playing a condi class is just so much easier that I think less and less people will bother to play one unless they are really in love with it.
I play Gw2 for pvp. Been doing it along time and always will. My main is my Thief and I have had some fantastic times in pvp but these past few weeks I barely even play him anymore.
With all the condi flying around now its just impossible to survive long enough to have a real impact. Sure, we can still burst the lone straggler down but getting anywhere close to an actual fight and we are pretty much dead before we arrive. Just a couple of notable things: A guard burning me for 20% of my health per tick (Killed me when i was fighting him without even landing a hit on me). A Warrior killing me before i even get out of its CC. And also Necros… Just lol!
I have been playing my Ele and my Necro recently and man is it so much easier and fun running around burning everyone down with condis. I actually feel sick now when i log in on my Thief to pvp.
Of course I love my Thief as its my main so I wonder, is it even worth playing now in pvp? Yes you can tell me we are meant to pick of targets on low health and then get out but is it really fun doing that whilst other classes stomp the battlefield with all their condi?
Hey guys, I’m a pretty experienced thief and I enjoy playing it. I like to think I know very much what i’m doing in pvp as I often rack up the most points (Helps that so many people don’t know how to cap points these days). I just hit Pheonix rank yesterday and it got me thinking about the classes i still struggle to fight in pvp and I was curious what other thieves struggle with.
The only 2 classes I just can’t handle are Necro and Mesmer. Necro is like a raid boss that tanks everything and no matter how many times i Withdraw or enter stealth to remove their conditions they are right back on me as soon as i’m fighting again. I think Necro is a great counter for a thief as we can’t kill them fast and condi damage is our weakness. Did I mention how a downed necro can take me from 100% health to 20% in the time it takes me to do a stomp? Still I see a lot of classes moaning about necros these days. Nerf please?
I should reiterate, A Mesmer played well I struggle against. A bad Mesmer can be killed in seconds but good ones are just enough to make me rage at the sight of them. Shatter virtually one shots me and my daggers constantly hitting illusions which absorb the damage instead of the Mesmer are irritating. It is definitely fun fighting a Mesmer as it becomes a battle of who can out stealth who but still a class I haven’t got to grips with beating. I guess I kinda suck at retargeting each time.
Finally on a side note, Ranger can be annoying. When you have no endurance and cd’s up, Rangers can pretty much one shot you with Barrage. A good Ranger who stays far away from you or has the high ground can also be extremely tough to deal with.
Most other classes are fine for me. I find Guardian, Ele and other Thieves very easy to fight. Warrior and Engi played well can be a nuisance but otherwise nothing special. So I ask you guys, What classes do you find most annoying/difficult to fight against?
