What I would like to see, is the option to save different trait setups like you could save builds in GW1.
I enjoy my ranger a lot and it’s the class I’ve played the most lately out of my 4 lv 80s. The other 3 are mesmer, ele and guardian. My ranger will also be the first to get an ascended weapon and it already has the most ascended jewelry out of the 4.
That’s because I don’t care much for dungeons, fractals or zerging in WvW. I mostly do open world in PvE, where class doesn’t even matter, or solo roaming in WvW.
If i do dungeons, it’ll probably be better if I bring my guardian.
Maybe they want us to spend a few months getting the gear we want, out of the available stat combos ascended has to offer. Then later, they can release more stat combos so we can start all over again, if we want those. Will make us playing longer. :p
Oddly enough I used basically the same outfit, just using the norn T2 legs instead of the jeans, after seeing this I picked up a pair to see how it would look, I kind of like it honestly.
Looks good! I like the Krytan vest as well.
I posted my ranger a while back in the mix and match thread. The prowler pants match quite well, as the top part looks like it’s part of the vest.
I haven’t really noticed any unusual delay on sword #2 myself. Only if I’m in the middle of a leap in the #1 chain. Could that be it?
Some say it helps to turn off auto attack to get better control of the #1 chain, but I haven’t felt the need to do so yet.
I definitely agree with the f2 ability. It often feels like nothing is happening at all. That or it takes way too long before the ability goes off.
Happy to hear you’re enjoying your ranger, though. My ranger is my 4th lv 80 and the one I enjoy/play the most atm. At least it’s great for soloing in WvW, which is what I’ve been doing lately.
sword 2 is hit and evade skill (with poison) so if anything to bring evade quicker we need to be able of make this “hit” faster….
That’s sword #3.
I finally managed to solo t4 today, but it didn’t really feel like i achieved anything. I was just relieved i didn’t have to try one more time. Definitely not something i want to do again for fun.
These trials are all about getting full zerker gear and hang out in the back, avoiding any fights. It feels like i’m exploiting a poorly made event.
Hope i wont have to buy another new set of gear for the next event they come up with. Sucks enough that i had to buy zerker gear for a char i never use…
I know I didnt express myself really well so if you require clarifications on what i am trying to say dont hesitate to ask.
Yea, you kinda lost me when you started to bring up ectos, passion flowers and what not. I think you may be over analyzing just a tad.
I still appreciate your answers and think i understand what you’re trying to say.
All i’m saying is that dailies may not be the best way when it comes to laurels.
Personally, i have plenty of time to log in every day to do my dailies, but not everyone does. For those that don’t do fractals, or are in too small a guild to do guild missions, laurels is the only way to get ascended gear.
If they can only play during the weekend on top of that, it will take a long, long time to get enough laurels to equip a character with ascended accessories. Maybe half a year or longer. There is no way for them to make up for it by playing more during the weekend.
Perhaps it would be better to get rid of the dailies and make them weekly quests? The time spent to complete a weekly should be about the same as 7 dailies. People could then choose if they wanted to spend 30 min a day or 3,5 hours during the weekend.
That or let people save up a few dailies. It would be great, even if we could only save up to 3 dailies.
Imo, daily quests are a cheap way of getting people to log on every day. If the game is fun, we will log in as often as possible because we enjoy playing it, not because they make us feel like we’re missing out if we don’t.
It would be fine if the daily rewarded only karma or gold, but not when it’s one of the few ways to get a certain currency.
Galen Grey, you can’t really compare getting laurels to farming for gold.
Like others have pointed out, the laurels are time gated and they can’t make up for missing a few days by playing in the weekend. When farming for gold, you can farm whenever you want and for how long you want. Have saturday free? You can farm 16 hours straight and get all the gold you can. If you missed dailies all week, you can’t make up for it in the weekend.
Fortunately for me, i have time to play a bit every day and do my dailies, but i still hate dailies. They create a feeling of having to log on every day or you’re missing out. Yes, if you can’t log on every day, you’re missing out on laurels. If i have to go away for 3 days, i’m missing out on 3 laurels. I can’t get them by playing a few hours more on saturday.
I know they made laurels time gated to prevent the hardcore players to get too far ahead, but maybe they should remove the dailies? Maybe have monthly quests only or weekly quests instead of dailies. That or let people save up the dailies for up to 7 or so days. That way they can catch up in the weekend if they choose to.
You can look at this the way you want. If you do 20 dailies and the monthly this month, you didn’t miss 10 laurels, but made 30.
If i do that, i will say i made 30 laurels, but also that i missed 10.
Another sword tip: for Hornet Sting – Monarch’s Leap.
I’m sure a lot of you already know this, but i often see people turn and face someone they already have targeted, before they use HS to get away. Like when outnumbered in WvW and you want to get out of there.
You can actually use HS while you’re running away from someone, without the need to stop and turn. Either if you have a target before you start running, or if you look behind while you’re running and target someone behind you (I have “look behind” bound to “v”).
If you use HS while running and have a target behind you, you will leap forward, away from the target and in the same direction you’re running. Then you can lose your target and hit ML to leap again in the same direction.
It works even as far as the target range limit.
Every split second counts in WvW.
I haven’t spent a lot of time in WvW yet, but when i do, i think i do it for much the same reasons as Puandro. To get some good fights, have fun and to challenge myself by engaging in fights i don’t know if i can win.
It’s how i used to play(mostly solo) in DAoC and it’s how i will play here. I honestly don’t care that much about the server scores. I’m just out there to have some good fights. Sure, i’ll slap some yaks, etc, but that’s usually because i can’t find anyone to fight.
Sometimes i’ll join the zerg though. It can be fun too.
Anet created WvW as a casual type of PvP that was meant for all types of players: soloers, small groups, guilds and zergs.
As long as i’m fighting other players, killing yaks or attacking camps, i’d like to think i’m doing my part.
There’s another thing i used to do in DAoC as well. If i’m fighting another player and a couple of people from my own servers jumps in, i may pull out of the fight to give the “enemy” a better chance to live/win. That depends on the situation and will usually happen if we’re in the middle of nowhere, not taking part in a siege. I’m sorry if that offends some people, but i don’t play by the “red is dead” philosophy. Maybe that could be the topic of your next thread, raoul?
Some great looking armours in this thread.
Here’s my ranger.
Vest is Krytan skin from the gem store.
Pants are Prowler
Boots are Outlaw
Gloves are Pirate
and Cheetah backpack. If you had a staff instead yours could be a human Cheetara from Thundercats.
Since I’m a ranger, I guess a Cheetah back pack will have to do for now.
Zoia, your look kinda reminds me of Queensblade. Very nice!
I had to google that, as I’ve never heard of Queensblade before. Ummm, thanks, i guess?
Not that I didn’t like what I saw on Google, but my outfit isn’t that skimpy, is it?

Mmm, mmm, sure. Wiki also says that permanent hairstyle contracts drop from BL chests. Do they? No. I know what the wiki page says on magic find. Did the people writing this paragraph on magic find open dragon coffers, a relatively new type of RNG loot that requires no keys to open them? No. I did my part of the testing. You do yours. In the end, all people are interested in is getting a ticket. I’m describing the way in which I consistently received mine.
Hey, I appreciate that you want to help people by telling them what worked for you. Personally, I’ve opened around 6500 coffers and have gotten 3 tickets. Whenever I got a ticket, it was not while I was running around farming coffers with magic find, opening the chests as I got them. I got all 3 tickets in Lion’s Arch, opening coffers I bought from the TP, with no magic find.
Like I said, a few thousand coffers isn’t a big enough sample to come to any conclusion whether magic find helps or not in getting a ticket.
With a drop rate as low as this, you really need to open more than 10k coffers to get an idea of what the drop rate is. Had the drop rate been around 5-10%, a 1000 coffers would give you a fairly good idea of what the drop rate was. Not accurate, but close enough.
With these coffers, people are talking about a drop rate of 0.05%. 0.08% according to this: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dragon_Coffer/drop_rate. Not that i trust the numbers there, as we don’t know if those are posted by the unlucky ones or if they are true.
To get a somewhat accurate number, you would have to open about 100k coffers with magic find and another 100k without. 10k coffers, some with and some without magic find, just isn’t a big enough sample.
This has also been suggested before, to give us a guaranteed ticket if we open x amount of coffers. Why not make it into an achievement so we can track how many we have opened?
Every 2000 or so regular coffers you open will complete the achievement and give you a ticket.
For rich coffers, maybe for every 25 opened. I don’t think it would be too much to ask, to know you’d get at least 1 ticket for those 2000 gems.
The coffers should still drop random tickets as well.
It’s not like this would make everyone run around with jade weapons. I’ve opened 6000+ coffers now and have 3 tickets. With 4 level 80s, each using several different weapons, another 3 guaranteed tickets would be nice. :p
Finally got my first ticket after 2500+ regular coffers….
I’ve opened around 2000 regular coffers now. 15 minis and no tickets.
I really like a lot about GW2, but going back to Rift is more and more tempting each patch. The only reason I quit that game, was because GW2 came out and I only have time for one MMO.
A couple of more patches like this, with all those nice, new skins hidden behind insane RNG, and I may take a long break.
I’ve spent a couple of hours now, just running around in a low lv zone doing my dailies and killing mobs. Seems like the droprate for normal dragon coffers is about 10% and i’ve gotten 30 or so of them. Nothing so far, but with that high a droprate, I should be getting a lot of coffers during this event.
I just wonder if I should sell all my coffers now for ~10 silver each, since I’m sure the price on the TP will drop significantly in a few days.
Even if the droprate from normal coffers are low, this is much, much better than what we had in Southsun. Getting a ticket actually seems possible now. :p
I’m quite happy with the amount of updates in GW2, but I wish more of it was permanent.
Rift is/was P2P and I was impressed by all the content they released on a regular basis. But, last I heard, they are going F2P as well, or have already done so.Edit: @Karizee, I don’t mind paying a sub and I definitely felt it’s been worth it in most of the MMOs I’ve played. GW2 has so far cost me more money each month than any MMO with a sub.
And I’ve spent less
In this game I have a choice on when and how much to spend for vanity items and zero cost for content.
I also love that I can use my ingame gold to buy those vanity items and even character services like transfers, name changes, character re-customization, etc.
Yea, that’s the good thing about F2P games. You only need to spend as much cash as you feel like, as long as it’s not P2win, which GW2 is not.
I don’t mind that I’ve spent more on GW2. So far it’s mostly been charslots, bank and inv space and some vanity items. My monthly cost will be less now that I’ve got most of what i need.
But many people will spend a lot more in these F2P games than they would in a P2P game. Especially those who really want that weaponskin hidden inside an RNG box. :p

The sickle is a bit disappointing compared to the mining pick. The tiny spring is almost hidden in the bush I’m mining….or harvesting.
I’ll be ok with it though, as long as they remove that last swing from the animation. I didn’t spend gems so I had to spend more time harvesting.
Why didn’t you charm that juvenile pig at 4:15?
Seriously though, it was a good vid and i enjoyed it!
Intoducing, Yoshioka. She started off as a Mesmer but is now a full-time Warrior.
8/10 – I like what you did with that face. It often tends to look too young, but you gave her a more mature hairstyle and pulled it off. Not with the usual ponytail i often see that face with.

Here’s my guardian, Ayami Toestomper
When the dye kits came out, i said to myself i wouldn’t buy them, but ended up buying 7 stacks of 5. That’s 3500 gems, or about the same as 3 months sub in a P2P game.
From those 35 dyes, i got 4 of the new ones. Not really worth it and it seems like the weaponskins in this event’s chests have an even lower droprate.
ANet will probably make some good cash in the short term, but in the long run, i think they will end up with a lot of unhappy and kitten off players.
They should be able to make enough money by letting us get exactely what we pay for in the gem store without this ridiculous RNG. So far, I’ve spent more cash on this game each month than I’ve ever spent on a P2P game, and I’m not a big spender either.
I’m ok with that as long as i know what I’m getting. However, i haven’t bought anything since the dyes and mining pick. The weekly minis are nice and so are the living story weaponskins, but as long as ANet continue with these RNG cashgrab chests, I’ll keep my spendings to a minimum.
I support this post!
In most MMOs i play, i like to have 2 chat windows. 1 for region chat, /say, NPC chat, etc. The 2. one for more important channels like guild, party and whispers. It’s also very limited where i can place the one chat window we do have.
Something else i’d like to see, is the option to change text colours in the chat window.
The group icons are a little too far to the left for me to easily keep track of the health of the group members. It would be nice to be able to drag them a little closer to the middle of the screen.
I know Anet said they wanted us to play the game and not the UI, but some basic customization would only improve the game.
Then after people have opened 100 boxes and still haven’t gotten that super special item, they will still feel sad, cheated and like they wasted their cash. Even if they got 5 of that weapon skin.
Edit: I would personally like to get my rare/special stuff from in game, even time limited, activities, rather that pay real cash in the gem store and most likely still get nothing.

That would be nice. They had an option during beta that was called something like “only show items usable by me”, but i don’t think it worked.
I thought it would last till midnight. Too bad, i guess. I had 235 baubles and 48 bauble bubbles….
This has often happened to me under water as well, on my ele and guardian. I’ve been swimming in circles around the mob while fighting it, then suddenly it decides to go invulnerable, swim 2 feet away and heal…
Yes, please remove it! It’s extremely annoying.
Would be great if our character had different comments/phrases depending on the personality(charisma/dignity/ferocity).
Perma-stealth is almost impossible to balance. It’s a huge advantage to be able to pick your fights. To balance it, they would have to make the stealther slightly less powerful compared to some classes/builds.
When that happens, some stealthers will complain, because they think they should be able to kill anything as long as they get the jump on them from stealth(being assassins and all that). Make classes with perma-stealth equal to every other class will make every other class complain, because the stealther can choose their fight.
We would also get stealth gank groups camping hot-spots, waiting for solo targets to run by for a free kill. I remember that too well from DAoC. :p That ruins the fun for a lot of other players. It’s no fun to run around with a couple of friends and suddenly 6-8 stealthers pop out from nowhere. Without perma-stealth, you can at least see them from a distance and have a chance to escape.
This is one the the options i miss the most in the TP. It would also be nice if we could preview armour/weapons.
