Too Drunk To PvP[LUSH]
Standing United[STUN]-TC
Thanks Devon for looking into this. I’ll be a much happier WvW’er if this gets fixed. Right now I’m uber paranoid about dropping superior siege. >.< Dropped a few superiors and a bunch of regular siege today without issue, but it seems to be erratic on when this bug happens.
Lines been checked, and can’t get cable where I am. All I keep hearing is that dodo is crap so I’m trying to switch but even after 2 days they are trying to get me with a $600 cancellation fee…..
Holy kitten dude. That’s crazy! Craptastic connection that’s borderline (or less than) dial-up doesn’t warrant any kind of cancellation fee…They should be paying you to use it in the first place!
Oh yeah, score and map update with my new fuzzy friend:
way to make things so serious lani T.T now lets do wat we do and play some AC wars with TC. They shall never have my hills (do wish they would nerf em no one touches hills anymore and we get blame for it T.T)
I’ve been in on a couple of attempts against it, you guys have been fierce about keeping it! Good times, good however brief fights. Next weeks reset I should hopefully be around, so expect some vicious sieging! <3
Only a WvW player thinks Zommoros is the god of superior siege
Ahaha, yes!!
Only a WvW player would say something like “I was doing one of those things the other day…what are they called again? Uhmm the PvE things, Hearts!!”
Blatantly stolen from one of our commanders on voice today.
After talking with the person we believe was having the issue last night, he did not have a debuff showing on his character, but he was getting a message that he could not drop siege. Once he determined this he relogged and came back into map, and was then able to drop and build siege without it disappearing. There was no attempt at building siege in Citadel, the debuff just carried over, without really carrying over if that makes sense.
The places I dropped siege that disappeared were the NE tower on our home borderland, I think it’s Dawn’s Eyrie this week, and Bay if this helps as far as placement.
(edited by Zoja.2631)
Had this happen to me on more than one occasion today. Ended up losing in total about 10 superiors today, not a huge amount but enough to be frustrating.
One disappearance happened as we were in the process of being attacked, I was dropping multiple siege in the lords room. All pieces were fully built in front of me, I even had a chance to test fire one to get it turned the right direction before it went poof. If the siege hadn’t disappeared we probably could have held off the invaders.
I’ve started a thread in the Game Bug forums, as well as an in game bug report, might want to drop this into that thread or start your own as it may get the proper attention there. Here’s hoping that it’s fixed soon.
It seems like TC is taking a couple of weeks off. Or maybe we were just putting forth extra effort before.
This has been the least fun I’ve had in WvW in weeks.
Finals week, new games, new PvE content, new shinies in the BLTP. Added effect from changes made last week. Some still adapting and some hate change and wander off in search of fun elsewhere. shrug It happens. We’re still hanging on though, and a lot of us are still having a blast!
Brb, dance party in LA. :P
Regardless of that, creating a legendary weapon is a PvE goal, not a WvW goal. Most of the people doing the jumping puzzles are likely doing them because they want a legendary weapon. Even if you hate WvW, you still need to map all of the borderlands and obtain 500 badges of honor to create something for PvE. The jumping puzzles are a great alternative for people that intensely dislike WvW. Now they’ve been nerfed and those that don’t like WvW will have an even harder time than before obtaining 500 badges. There is simply no other way to get a legendary weapon. The Gift of Battle is required, and going into WvW is necessary for that. This is fine if you like WvW and PvP in general. It’s absolute torture if you hate it.
How is a Legendary a PvE only goal?
I can farm the wood and the ore needed for certain Gifts in WvW maps, I get plenty of skill points in WvW to buy the Bloodstone. Loot bags will drop T6 mats on my level 80 professions. Yes, there are a few things I can only get in PvE, but there are very few that require it.
Look, I absolutely loathe PvE dungeons, but I have to spend time in parts of the game I do not enjoy in order to create. I can’t stand TA but guess where I have to go to get my 500 Deadly Blooms for Gift of Thorns for my Ranger bow. I’d rather bash my head against my desk repeatedly than try and pug that place.
A legendary is just pretty packaging saying “I spent a crapload of time and gold to look cool in LA.” We all have to do stuff we hate in order to create one. All’s fair. I get tortured in dungeons, you get tortured in WvW. At least PvE’rs have the JP’s as an option instead of having to PvP in WvW maps. I’m just screwed and have to dungeon run.
/shrug
We both suffer equally!
Kwisatz Haderach is not German. It refers to an old Chakobsa saying meaning, “The shortening of the way”. It’s from the Dune series of novels by Frank Herbert.
I remember when I first saw your new guild tag Eve and I was like, “Really cool Guild moniker!”.
Yeah, I’m a fan . Also howdy T2! Just poking my nose in and surreptitiously sneaking cookies from Jayne’s cookie pantry, Don’t mind me…. ^^I’ve been rather disheartened by how few people recognize the Kwisatz Haderach reference in their guild name. I’ve read all of Frank Herbert’s Dune series, and one or two of his son’s.
KH is a great crew, to be sure. Really fun to follow around, and really fun to have on the map with you. They’re skilled and good natured in my experience.
>.> <.< Adding this to my series I need to read pile. I wondered about the name, now I almost get it.
And Silke: Get outta the cookie jar! Put that back! :P
Good times on TC BL tonight. Had a lot fun! FA and DB kept us on our toes. Here’s hoping FA BL gets sorted out and stops crashing. It’s no fun when you can’t play your home BL. Sorry to you all, it can’t be easy dealing with that.
They really need to have a forum feature that automatically closes threads that are more than a couple weeks old and have no current activity.
There are lots of threads on this topic, you don’t need to resurrect a dead one.
Also, as a point of interest, a mod in a couple other threads on this same topic closed those threads and pointed posters here. So this is the relevant thread despite the lack of daily activity.
I don’t dungeon often, and this system is most of the reason why, I don’t have a guild to run with currently so I always PuG. The last few pug runs I’ve been in, one party leader DC’d and someone voted to kick not realizing the DC’d one was the leader. The other two cried because of some injustice they felt they didn’t deserve (one died in a trash pull and the other died on a boss fight, we “didn’t rez them fast enough omg wtf”) and left the party with some unnecessary words I won’t repeat here. Both left knowing the rest of us would be booted. I loathe running dungeons for the sheer fact that in the last several cases it’s been an enormous waste of my time. The repair bill is barely covered due to the fact I’ve rarely managed to get to a chest let alone the end of a dungeon.
This is ridiculous! The other four in party are being punished for the childish actions of one in the vast majority of cases. Please, find a way to fix this, whatever will solve this infuriating issue.

Score update, please?
The omgwhyamistillawake score update:
Thank you! I also have a thing for female Sylvaris so cough… But that’s for discussion for another time.
Lol!
Oh really? Hey… I should have turned my graphics back up then! They’re still on omgzergblob WvW settings.
I just realized I didn’t get the map in that post. Oh well, no maps from me until tomorrow now, I’m lazy (but still awake somehow) and my laptop won’t run GW2.
What I was trying to get at is that this limitation on a fairly reliable way to get badges of honor is a problem for those that simply want the badges for PvE-related reasons (i.e., a legendary weapon). I love WvW but it isn’t my main focus in the game. I don’t usually play it for more than a few hours per week. I tend to play it more if creating a legendary weapon.
Getting badges from killing other players is, well, a joke. They almost never drop regardless of how many kills I get, the size of the group I’m in, or the speed that I kill. I don’t know if this is just plain bad luck or if it’s by design. Regardless, I’ve had to resort to using the jumping puzzles for badges because they’re the only reliable way to get them.
Forcing people to play in WvW to get a legendary weapon, which seems to be more of a PvE goal, is questionable enough as it is. Limiting the number of times the WvW chests can be looted to once per day per account makes this process of obtaining the necessary badges even more frustrating and time consuming than it already was.
Getting a Legendary has never been about easy. Or what I would consider a PvE only objective. It doesn’t increase stats in any way, it’s just pretty. It encompasses both PvE and PvP to create. If I have to PvE for mine, you (figurative you, not pointing at any individual here) should have to actually PvP, or in this case WvW, for yours. If this cuts down on the amount of whinging in map chat regarding camping of JP’s I’m all for it. If it cuts down on the amount of people clogging up queue’s for JP’s only I’m DEFINITELY all for it. T2, every spot is precious, the less in JP’s the more for people working toward the objectives. Again, I learn the basics of PvE for mine and work just as hard to be a valued member, you should learn the basics of WvW for yours and be a valued member of your server as well. Running with a zerg doesn’t require any time consuming knowledge. Play your profession as you play it. Find AoE’s you’re comfortable with to drop to increase the amount of players hit by you. This will ensure several bags as long as your zerg isn’t wiped. Learn to spam F to pick up bags as you go.
As for your kill per badge ratio Zedd, I can’t say much. You may just have terrible luck. I usually walk out with 50 or more per two-three hours spent pushing objective(s). Far less if I’m defending, but that’s defense, not much unless an enemy zerg is hitting you. I rake in a ton of bags on AC’s defending against zergs, and that was prior to the AC change, not even sure how many more that will bring in now.
It should be a time consuming task to make a legendary. Making a series of well timed jumps doesn’t scream hard work or PvP.
Score update, please?
The omgwhyamistillawake score update:
I’m not terribly sad about this since they’ve made siege account bound finally. The blueprints won’t be missed on my alts the very rare times I ran any of them through a JP in WvW. The badges weren’t all that much unless it was the EB JP, and running with a zerg taking out another servers players on map more than makes up for anything I missed by not running a JP.
Less queue spots JP only players are taking up. Overall, totally worth it.
if you want to see more, theyre on the votf homepage!
Yes these are funny as hell. (I would know, Ophidian and me made most of them)
The Hitler video was beyond hilarious as well. Pure genius.
You guys are awesome, this is totally on my hilarious bookmarks list now. I was going to save my favorites, but they all made me laugh! (Still saved a few of the more fabulous gems :P)
Meanwhile in DB BL .. TC has a 40 plus Zerg dedicated on taking our Bay only to lose a fully upgraded garrison with no cap on Bay.
Ahem, let me repeat: New PvE content always hits us in the jimmies. Tonight was not normal, the TCBL zombies were after jetpacks. Jetpacks!!!! I mean really, how cool is that!! If I’d known there were jetpacks I wouldn’t have been on TCBL in the first place!
Why didn’t anyone tell me there were jetpacks!?!?!?!
If jetpacks went for badges? We’d be queue’d for HOURS!
New PvE content always hits us in the jimmies. Outmanned on TCBL tonight…Let me repeat that, outmanned on TCBL. I’m pretty sure thats the one and only time I’ve seen that buff on myself in our home borderland. I should have taken a screenshot, but was so shocked by its appearance, followed by the appearance of a DB zerg towing 5 golems into Garrison.
Owwwwwwwwwww.
DB owes me a new face, and a superior AC that never got fully built. I could have held you off if I’d only had 10 more supply! LOL
My poor ranger is all broken, battered and bruised. Everywhere I went, there you guys were to kick me into the dirt again. * sadface *
Ahahaha, the Pepperidge Farm one is awesome! These are great.
guys i’m scared
i think the arrow cart thread might overtake this one
We are getting passed by that thread!
Unacceptable!!!
Score and Map Update:
Do people actually still use portal except for when a mesmer has hidden inside a keep?
Yep, siege golem portal train.
I read “Dragonbrand” and my mind subconsciously processed “DragonBall”. I need a nice long vacation.
Oh don’t feel bad, I was calling Dragon kittenergs on voice today. >.< I haven’t even watched the anime, I blame my friends that watch it! They have warped my fragile little mind!
Edit: okay I give up, the filter hates me. How is Dragon kittenerg a bad word? XD
(edited by Zoja.2631)
All Tarnished Coast citizens have similar setups. Its a gift from our sponsors.
Wait…WE DO?!?!?! Where the heck is mine! I demand sexy aforementioned setup now! :P
Lots of fun this week, when I had the time to play anyway. I for one will miss our Kaineng brothers next match.
I hope you stay strong and move back up! See you next week again FA, and looking forward to DB and all the new tactics they’ll bring at us.
(edited by Zoja.2631)
The walls and gates in Hills are far too easily taken out, the siege placed there does not last long if it’s a solid push on the keep. The Lord’s room is the only true choke point in that keep. If that’s nerfed then say hello to zerg point #4. We’ve lost it before though, a well led zerg can push through the 3 ballista and handful of arrow carts quickly.
It’s not the only solid choke point though. We’ve held Bay many times with multiple walls down inner and outer, but had Lords room Bay sieged to all hell. Let them push bay in the shade of 8 arrow carts and 4 ballista I say.
Personal opinion, the keeps are fine. There are tiny points that I gripe about but not enough to warrant a nerf to any of them.
<score update deleted> Nevermind, Zoja beat me to it.
Probably cause it’s thursday morning for me, I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
; ) <3 to a fellow Hitchhiker fan!
Can i get a score update please
Ask and you shall receive!
Oi! This thread is filled with vitriol and acid on both TC and FA sides. Honestly starting to feel really bad for KN at this point listening to us all bicker and whine. I rarely see them with anything more than a good game.
What’s happened to us over the last month and a half? TC, come on. We’re better than this. FA as well. We both started this matchup with at least a modicrum of respect for each other. Now it’s kitten kitten kitten kitten kitten RRRRAAWWWWWRRRR. I for one am tired of the hate spewing forth, the thread locks (one last week for certain and this weeks is heading there rapidly at this pace) because we can’t contain an unnecessary hatred of one another. I can’t be the only one tired of this sewage. This is the last score I put up for a bit, it’s not fun coming here anymore. Cheers to all sides. Good game all, and see you on the battlefield.
Score update:
Map and score update. And before thing get any more crazy up in here, I think we can all take a moment to Simma Down Na! It’s only Sunday guys and gals, way too early for thread locking. Even the usual voices of jokes and reason are becoming unreasonable and jaded the last two match threads.

Ok, I’ve had the game a few weeks and will still be a noob for 52 more weeks . so my 2 Q’s. are this. What skill and or tools do you need to repair doors/walls and whats needed to build siege. And if I was on a lowbie would I get some ok xps?
The only thing you need for both repairing and building siege is Supply. Supply can be taken from any of the camps, or if your towers or garrison have enough you can pull from those. The supply depots have a barrel icon over them, you can carry a max of 10 supply unless someone is running a guild buff which will increase it to 15.
As far as experience, I’ve run a few lowbies on days that we’re not getting hit very hard and have had decent xp while running with a group and taking back towers or camps so it’s worth it.
Asura Engineer. Love mine to pieces!
I may be a bit biased though…
I do play a ranger in WvW exclusively as well, enjoy that class too, but not as much as my engi.
On TC these are my top 5 that I’ve run with:
Odinzu [EP]
Commander Jadon [PiNK]
Nightlight [CERN]
Kittaine[PF]
Azelroth[MoM]
There are plenty more stellar commanders on TC, I just tend to stay on TCBL.
We just picked up a couple new ones as well, had some great runs with them, but I don’t know them well enough yet to make this a top 10.
(edited by Zoja.2631)
Score update before I crash out. Great fights all around today!
Also dont make the mistake in judging the game mode on how often you get killed, I get killed all the time! Too many players are too scared to die in a video games. It’s often worth the suicide run if you can contest a point for long enough for the rest of your armies to show up and save the day! (in fact that’s where most of my deaths came from likely…)
This! So much this. Since you’re a (former?) WoW player, tell your team chat where your at and how many enemies are there, yell LEEEEEEERROOYYYYYYYYYY and plow into the group. If you last longer than 10 seconds, laugh heartily, rez up and move on. You may have just saved a camp for your team if they can get there fast enough! Kamikaze can be rewarding.
Guard can be a blast from what I’ve heard, mine’s only level 30 though so I won’t be much help on spec or gear.
Try the guardian forums as each forum I’ve gone to has had multiple people willing to give advice on spec and gear. If your server has it’s own un-official forum community or voice server as well (TC does, as do a few other servers we’ve fought) there’s a good chance you can find a mentor willing to walk you through a WvW spec. If you’re still running a PvE spec that may be part of the issue. When I first started WvW’ing I had to change my entire focus and spec, but once that happened, WvW life was a whole lot more fun. That may be what you’re running into right now, but it’s an easy fix.
As far as gear though, on my engineer when it hit 80, I had to pick up some exotics from Karma in Orr to really feel like I was on par. If you have the karma, go pick up a few pieces to get started, I’d suggest the vendor selling vit/toughness to get started unless you find a spec thats very burst dependant. If I’m not mistaken, the vendor is in Cursed Shore at Temple of Melandru. If anyone else can correct that please do, I’m not in game currently.
I can understand the frustration. Currently leveling a ranger through WvW only, which is a blast, but very easily killed. There is hope though, use your resources, find something that will work better in WvW and I can almost guarantee that you’ll enjoy it a lot more.
I could be wrong though! Not everyone enjoys WvW, but I wish you the best of luck.
(edited by Zoja.2631)
Are you upleveled or 80? What is your current gear situation? Not a whole lot of info to go off of, but I’ll assume you’re upleveled which is more difficult than max level. Depending on your gear vs theirs, they may have been running a ‘zerker set which will blow you to pieces very quickly unless you’re sitting on a ton of vitality and/or toughness. How many were you going against? 1v1 or multiple people? Were you with a group of your own servermates?
Try it again closer to max level and you’ll have a much different experience. GW2 PvP is quite a bit different than WoW pvp though, so I’m not sure how you can compare the two.

HEY TC COME INTO JERRIFER’S WE GOT COOKIES.
Personally I would rather they lower the population caps and do nothing at all about skill lag. Provide controlled transfer options to help disperse the population. I think the game would be significantly better if we had 9 or 12 evenly populated servers, rather than have so many folks in the top six (and they all keep on recruiting).
Here’s the issue with that. I love my server. It would take some astronomical incentives to make me move. I’d deal with outrageous queue times before ever thinking of leaving TC. The vast majority of players that I’ve run with on TC are likely feel the same way. I’m sure I am not alone in this sentiment. FA and KN in our tier also comes across as loyal to their server. We’ve all worked kitten hard to get to T2, why penalize us for having servers full of WvW fanatics?
I am fully aware that with the recent changes in WvW zerg balls have definitely taken over, and without culling it’s a bit of a disaster. With the reduction in culling I expected some hindrances to crop up, the lag is not shocking. There is also the possibility that not all lag is server side, some of it may be personal equipment. I just updated my system and the issues I used to have completely disappeared. I still get occasional lag, but the last time I noticed any was the 100 man KN/FA zerg on our BL both trying to take Bay. That’s what it took to see skill lag again, and at worst it was about 7 sec on my system. There is no easy way to create a game for every single type of pc out there like there is with consoles, and old equipment gets old. I think we should at least give Anet a little more time to come up with alternatives on their end for the server lag other than killer queue times or breaking up servers for the sake of reducing lag. I’d hate to watch WvW’rs alienated.
I’m a defensive player at heart. So my 2c? Find some way to make sentry/scout a viable way of increasing WXP and you’ll start to see a reduction in zerg size and more defensive types of play increase. Right now defense is barely scratching half of what offensive zergs are in regards to WXP, new and shiny wins out.
(edited by Zoja.2631)
As someone queuing for T2: No. Oh gawd, please, no. I’ll never see the inside of a borderland again if they lower population any further than it is.
Possibly a tad over dramatic, but it’s about a 10% chance during the week that I don’t have to wait for a queue during prime time as is. Very low odds. Don’t even ask about Fridays. I give up after about two hours in queue.
Late night score update. No map because I’m tired and lazy, but most of it was green anyway.
<3<3 to both KN and FA. Great fights this week!
The “Its been awhile” bump.
I am a sentry. I get a kick out of standing guard, vigilantly tick siege and always keep my team informed. I wholeheartedly love sentry duty, and will hang out at a tower for hours on end. I like watching the overall map ebb and flow and, in between enemy attacks, doing the little things like calling out movements in Team to help a chat suppressed commander. I’ve got great music, my teammates on Mumble to joke with, and a laptop parked nearby to keep occupied during the more quiet times. Over the last couple of months I have grown to thoroughly enjoy this part of the game.
With that being said, currently I feel as though I’m being penalized for playing defensively. The new WvW perks are great, but at this time defense feels severely underrated in this new system. It really bites to invest so much time in a BL and not see any noticeable movement in my WXP. I would be several ranks higher if I gave in and ran with the zerg (which I have a couple times, I can’t deny, and it felt dirty the whole time XD). Today for example, I spent about 10 hours in TCBL and only gained one rank because most of that time was spent sitting on a keep calling incomings. I realize that I gained some WXP from our successful defenses, but what about the times in between? The two hours they didn’t hit that particular keep, leaving sentries like myself out in the cold, lonely WXP-less abyss. I would like to max my supply capacity at some point this year to make sieging up or repairs on the keep I usually sentry just a tiny bit faster. It’s looking rather daunting at the moment though. However, I don’t think I should have to ask my server-mates for some kind of rotation of sentries in order to run with the zerg to gain my personal ranks. That can get messy quickly, especially with militia groups who aren’t using a VoIP service, and it breaks down the momentum. Look I know that sentry duty is a personal choice. I don’t have to sentry, I want to, but if I feel this way there are probably other players out there that feel the same.
Okay, so that paragraph was probably very whiny, but there it is. I’ve vented.
I wish I could say I had some grand ideas that would work perfectly, but I don’t. Everything I’ve thought of has been Pro and Con’d out. Unfortunately the Cons win mostly due to the AFK’rs or bots that would stream in, choking already strained queues on the high population servers, and overall ruining the fun of WvW. I’d hoped that I could at least end this with something brilliant, but right now I’ve got nada. I guess if nothing else this is a “Hey, over here! What about us?” post. So please, don’t forget about us Anet, think of something brilliant to give us stalwart protectors a little love and experience.
