Immolator, I hope the admins move it to Saturday at 7AM PST. It fixes all time problems for everybody. It’d be preferable for EU, NA, SEA, EVERYBODY for it to be at a time everybody can play at (since it’d be Saturday for everybody). I just don’t think they really thought on the time…and I’d wish everybody would push them to move it to that time.

Mine too, funny how that works…..but some servers who shalt remain nameless (but they are Heavy on Drama and Need Some Praise) got all of our best forum warriors banhammered….So now we just come on and say: Hey nice small roaming group last night at (insert random BL location), we really enjoyed the spirited match you presented us with!

If they got banhammered, they are bad forum warriors. Ill add that to the list of things SF needs to improve at to be competitive in the higher tiers.

I don’t want to go into the coordination/skills debate but it’s clear you can solve any problem in WvW with numbers. The thing is there is a point where you can’t use numbers any longer. I think it’s around tier 4.

They are using numbers, they just aren’t using them well. If the scoring continues like this, the are going to have to send more cookies to get bumped out of T7. Their predicted steamroll hasn’t materialized. They are getting the numbers bump from moving from red to green as dictated and expected by their population, however, if the scores continue like this, they will be losing points next week because the wont be able to win by enough (sound familiar). And looking at GoM’s performance, their overpowering server-mates from T8, well, simply, aren’t.

Nice work GoM. Thrown into T8 and showing everyone the real power of what was left there.

Here, lets save some forum space and do some predictions. SF – will zerg their way to T5 – there is nothing in T6 atm to match their numbers, and then get destroyed by EBay and BP – I hope you like Sekz for breakfast SF, because you are going to meet them soon enough. HoD looks to be taking a page from AR and will ride 2nd place until the see an opening to move up. NSP will end up somewhere – no real way to tell until Anet actually releases the new ranking points after their score fudging last week.

If only Anet had done the reset as they has planned to. Instead they have managed to do stop-gap “fixes” which have only served to draw attention to their complete ignorance (or refusal to acknowledge) that server pop is not the same as WvW pop. Reset the points, let the populations level out in tiers and watch balanced wvw return. And please, no more stop gap fixes.

Uh…yeah, we know! We should have been able to get out of T8 on our own steam a LONG time ago (1/4 of a year of domination is simply too long). But due to how Glicko works and how skewed the ratings were in T8, there was simply zero chance of us getting out of T8 on our own steam without some sort of adjustment to the ratings.

So why should T8 NA get special treatment? Why not a universally applied answer? As an academic and a historian you should know that giving a minority special treatment is not a solution.

The biggest reason is that the solution is to attempt to break up what has become an ossified matchup. It is hardly a solution to the underlying problem, but it will hopefully put some variety back into the T8 and T7 matchups in NA which were sorely lacking in that because of the rating system we use for matchups.

T8 may be ossified, I think we can agree upon that. 2 points need addressing though:
1. T7 was the most balanced and new match-up in all of WvW and I think its safe to say, every server in the matchup was experiencing a revitalization of the WvW community.
2. You changed the game and didn’t let anyone know until it was too late. You want spiced up wvw? Give t7 one weeks notice that SF is taking the loser’s spot and stand back and watch the fireworks.

There’s no denying that we benefited from free server transfers too. We totally did just before free server transfers went away. But we didn’t get NEARLY as many as Kain or DR.

My point wasn’t to argue that Kain and DR got free server transfers and we didn’t. That’s most certainly not the case. My point was to argue that Kain and DR got out of T8 on their own steam is absolutely absurd.

Also, being someone who majored in history in college and focused on events in history that are constantly at the receiving end of revisionist “historians,” I don’t take kindly to your revisionist history jab.

Well, we’ve been droppin in ranks since September. Didn’t hit tier 8. ArenaNet thought they would fix that by transferrin people for free to our competition. Didn’t hit tier 8. So they bump everyone below us up in rating. That’s what it takes I guess.

Edit: What really strikes me is how different the outcome would have been before the free transfer week. I do feel like I’ve been kicked in the balls twice. We didn’t get transfers so we’re forced down a tier to fight servers that got tier 1 transfers. Cool.

Adjusting ratings on zero days notice is quite simply and bluntly stupid. I have no love for GoM but you are basically punishing them for enjoying new content this week. Anywhere else in the world, you give people NOTICE when you change things. Instead of hey, because you all have shiny backpacks and weapons now you get a free trip to T8, you announce that on next week’s reset, you will be artificially inflating scores in T8 (because apparently holding your breath until you turn blue gets results) so you all might want to have a solid WvW week to avoid getting sent down.

You fell into T8 after GoM curbstomped you at the same time Kain was continually scoring over 500k for weeks on end to beat the glicko trap (Week 52 in Milenium history). Until history repeats, you stay in T8. Everything else is window dressing and what if’s.

Excellent, you should have no issues when the zergs arrive. Thought the math and date setting is a bit harder with with SF ticking at -22 points for the week. Better hope GoM doesn’t get bored of the SAB anytime soon, because it looks like the rankings are locking in T6 and T7 as well.

Well, as all these thousands of threads say, I will be quaking in my boots in 2016. For all those numbers (contained in carefully chosen screenshots plus the highly creditable view from one person who has no biases at all) math still > T8 – Which I believe is the topic of this thread. I have a toon on HoD thanks to the new transfers and hate to say it but whichever server comes down to T8 is going to be pushed to the bottom. I never believed before that ET and FC would be a good match for T7 before the transfers….but I think I was wrong. Now with the transfers, I don’t think there is a team in T7 that could compete in T8. Once we get out I see the other servers following suite after blowing out the T7 servers that get replace by huge margins.

As has been seen, free transfers simply mess things up. Free transfers have once again screwed the most even match up (T7) and sealed the fate of T8 in NA (I wont get into the free transfers to T1 in Eu). Server Pop != WvW pop. Anet’s medium population designation reflects overall server size (PvE + WvW) as opposed to recognizing the reality that people who transfer actually play WvW. So when free transfers happen it completely skews the WvW numbers and create even more problems. No PvEer is every going to leave a high pop server for a medium pop server and play in ghost towns.

Free Transfers will never be a solution until they are based upon WvW populations independent of server pop.

Or DR will continue their amazing journey to T8 and back. That in itself will be worth the price of popcorn.

More likely HoD is going to move up and pull someone into T7 (Looking Like DR atm). Unless the world ends, T8 is staying as is.

Ill repeat what I have said before. Come join NSP and know that your efforts will make real difference. Every player has an important role to play in WvW – like small mans teams? We specialize in them. Like killing red – pick off the stragglers and take pressure off the main force. Like badges?
