The last game where I experienced near identical lack of communication and vague promises from a developer was Star Wars Galaxies prior to the infamous CU patch(Combat Upgrade) (some of you may remember this) and the even more hated NGE patch (New Game Experience). Both “improvements” were actively and vocally opposed and hated by the vast majority of the player base after their roll out. Both were preceded by the same sort of PR and lack of details we are seeing now from Anet. Both instigated mass exodus from the game. Transparency please.
I was there for the CU, (and the x-mas holocrons and the NGE) I have the scars to prove it (funny story actually).
But this doesn’t “feel” like that at all. More than anything else Anet seems cautious about doing things to wvwvw. and that’s a good thing, it’s almost a fluke it’s as balanced as it is.. And the last thing they should be doing is making kitten rushed fixes that break more things than they fix.

But I do keep a Vitality/Toughness/Healing set (superior runes of dwayna), a magic find set, and a power/precision/crit (superior runes of divinity) set.

Sure we can be.
But it forces us into specing for 30% Boon Duration. It forces us to use Signet of Rage. It forces us to carry a Warhorn.
Meanwhile the classes with runspeed signets can just alternate a skill slot.
No-one else sees the problem here?

kidding aside, you can weapon swap to a warhorn if you want it and swap to another if you don’t, mid-combat even. I honestly don’t see the problem there.

Sounds like most of you would like invulnerable yaks and have supply camps take 10 players so you can get back to running around in zergs without having to worry about small raiding groups outmanoeuvring you.
If someone is soloing your yaks, points and supply camps (even towers) 1-2 competent players can easily ruin their day. A 4 person team can easily roam the map and nail solo players. Most solo players will move on to easier pastures or retreat to the zerg if they keep running into small gangs.
BTW walking along with the Yak or standing around the camp is dumb. Move around. Ganking a player who’s distracted while soloing the yak/cp/camp is much easier.
Oh I need 4 people to guard a yak from a solo player… even a yak with guards, is that what you’re saying?

PvE I feel we’re ok (just ok), but wvwvw:
I’d be ok with the low HP, and low survivability If our base damage compensated. But having only 1 effective build/weapon combo, and even then you have to exert much more effort as some other classes to reach par…
and I choose ele because I like range, and like kiting, I don’t want to run dagger/dagger, but If I want to last more than 2seconds outside of zerg, …sigh yeah same build as everyone else and play like a thief (and work 3 times as hard for the same affect at that).

I don’t want repairing as part of the monthly. Too many people needlessly take supply from towers and keeps as it is. Upgrading I could agree with. But honestly there isn’t enough potential upgrades for all the PvErs who would want it. and the Crying from people who claim they can’t get the achievement (instantly upon zoning into wvw) wouldn’t be worth it.

I agree with this. As someone who cough likes to escort yaks, the guards are worthless. (I’m not going to get into the issues with thieves vs. yaks) They should be able to buy me a couple of seconds to defend the yak, but instead the only purpose they seem to do is give an enemy something to rally from when downed.

I’ve seen tornado used effectively exactly once, (in wvw an ele cleared and entire wall of enemies it was cool, but doesn’t seem like a reliable strategy). I do think whirlpool (even with the nerf) is about right, if only the graphic was reliable for me.

Just removing downed state w/o removing the AoE limit will encourage more zerging not less. If a person falling during battle is “permanent” then you will want to make sure you always have spare bodies in your group.
Right now a small group of 5 people can move about the map rather freely, since if 1 person goes down somewhere in the map you can rez them back up quickly and continue moving before being caught. On the other hand, if downed is removed, or forced teleport on death is added, if 1 member of that 5 goes down, the entire group must go back to Wp and start their roam over.
In my opinion, downed encourages small group play, and “fun” aggressive tactics, over large zergs and static siege vs siege battles.

Dual, yes, yes, yes. Ideally a location in the hearts of the mists, and/or special “dualing arena’s” in each BL.
Additionally I’d love the ability to set up cross server dual’s (with spectator mode) in the mists, or a new map where there is a “ticket” purchased that allows you to invite a player from another server to meet you in this area for a dual. For a higher costs 5vs5, 10vs10 and 15vs15 guilds could invite other guilds to dual. No points, no amour repair costs. But these must have some sort of spectator mode.

This has been an awesome week. As frustrated, and infuriated as SoR and BG can make me, it’s been ’ella fun.
It was also this week I finally started to get used to red being our color, and stopped assuming I could run through green doors. (did that ever stink the first few days after moving to this tier).
Thanks to all the players of SoR and BG, (even he stupid thieves, who down me out of nowhere, love to hate you) Good luck BG in tier 1!

I too seem to have a hard time getting badges. And I’m usually in a party, and often part of a “zerg” I get plenty of kills, but it feels like my kill/badge ratio is worse than 50/1.
Maybe I’m just missing bags because I’m moving a lot and by the time they’ve spawned I’ve moved on?
does magic find affect the chance of badges dropping (I have 0 MF when in wvw)

If I’m near a gate, yes I’ll try and mistform back inside, if the attackers didn’t cc me. if they are smart they see me go down and have their cc ready. I die plenty of times due to that. (although you prolly only remember the times I got away). But I only actually make it safely inside less than half the time. It’s a very risky thing, but again attackers will only remember the times I got away, so it “feels” way more prevalent than it really is.
But out in the field if I go downed, I don’t even bother mistforming as it just means I take 2x downed penalty. It’s not really long enough to get back to my lines, and I still take fall damage, can be cc’d, and take the downed penalty each time. It’s not like any of our other downed abilities are worth using. (and 9/10 stealthed thief stomps me anyways, That’s my selection bias speaking)

We don’t even have dueling and you want A.net to spend resources on a whole FFAPvP server? Seriously? with this game’s mechanics?
You are aware that development costs time and money? You are aware that they can’t just change the rules on one server?
It’s fine to wish for unrealistic things, but seriously, you need to realize it isn’t as simple as plugging in a $1200 blade and calling it a day. Even if it were (and it’s not) it would be a crappy experience, and A.net would still be right to laugh at this idea. And if you tell me you don’t care if it’s a crappy experience, then why aren’t you playing an existing game that has FFA pvp?

anyway, Only way I can think to fix it would be to have an ending cutscene where Trehearn dies. He confides in us, that he expended his life to save Orr, and he always knew it would end his life. In the confiding he apologies for being so cold, but it because he was scared, he knew it would end his life, and he never wanted to get close to knowing it wouldn’t last. His last words are something to the affect of “thank you, the world my not know it, but you are the true savior of tyira.”

I don’t have a problem with it. Yes there are some spots that are hard to hit, but that’s as it should be. Placing trebs on the top of SM makes them hard to hit, and ele air focus 4 makes it even harder, but it’s not impossible and it rewards both creative defense, and creative offense.

You realize that if they gave us a nuke option it would require 10,000 of each T6 mat, a billion various lodestones, and detonator that’s RNG but can only be rolled on in the forge if you supply 1000 T6 mats split into the four forge slots.
and if it did nuke Orr… we’d have those resources in an hour.

I wouldn’t want to see supply used/taken or siege built as part of daily. it would lead to wasted resources and problems with the siege cap. People who just want the daily and aren’t interested in wvwvw would justspam build useless siege, and take supply from keeps where it’s needed.
I would however support “escort x doyleks”, defend/capture x points. Dailies should be things achievable solo.
Monthlies should be take/defend x keeps, as well as participate in x events in all 4 maps.

I don’t think it’s straight do x% get a bag. I solo people down and never get a bag, and other times I mindlessly AoE a zerg… and still don’t get a bag.

My proposed changes:
1) thieves get a new ’Detect stealthed player" ability. long cooldown, works like some of the temp powers tat just leaves a trail or somesuch, tempory map marker. helps with portal bombs and stealthed players. (gives thieves something “thievy” to do)
2) Portals are limited to twice the players going through as the AoE limit. Can be traited to increase, but increased capacity increases casting time. (trating for both AoE limit and Portal capacity)
3) Portals have easily differentiated exit and entrance colors. (you can at a glance tell if it’s an incoming portal or outgoing portal)
4) Mesmers can “traceback” other teams portals, an elite skill that lets a Mesmer switch a portal direction. Effectivly closes the portal for the bomber and lets the opossing team use the portal in he other direction for half the original portals capacity. (I’m less convinced on how to make this work in a balanced way, but welcome comments)

I’m on a tier 3 server. I die at least one an hour. (usually more) I also spend most of my time (2/3) defending Keeps supply depots or escorting yaks. I sometimes pay for an upgrade, and often drop siege. (not constantly mind you, if I know Golantra has flipped 3 times in the past hour-ish I won’t upgrade, but if we’re in a good position I’ll pay to upgrade, or drop some arrow carts or a ballista) I spend another 1/3 roaming in groups or zergs, and here I’ll drop siege if needed.
Almost every night when I empty my bags I will end up with more coin than I started the night with, usually 50s-1g ahead. I have no clue how, but I do. (I also know I miss many many bags).
Now what I will do is when I’m just hanging out at a depot guarding, or escorting Dolyaks, I’ll kill the npcs in the area and I usually get pretty good drops from them. Maybe that’s why I’m doing ok?

I can see where you are coming from. But I have really been enjoying wubwub lately. In the past couple of weeks I’ve begun to see armies and tactics instead of mindless zergs and endless camp flipping. Maybe it’s because our teir has been semi-static and evenly(-ish) balanced.
But I’ve seen a “zerg” suddenly split into 3 groups, 1 group feints an attack just long enough for the defenders to notice, while the other two take wildly different routes to converge almost simultaneously on an enemy keep and take it before the defenders know what happened. The tower is taken, and since nearly everyone correctly has supply and know what’s up it’s fortified and defended for the inevitable counter-attack. To the other side they might have just seen a “zerg” but believe me it was anything but.
I’ve seen 10 really good players roflstomp a zerg of unprepared 40. Now will 40 players beat 10 of even ability, yes, and that’s as it should be. The key is to recognize that and not engage in that loosing fight. (or if you’re the 40, find the 10)
I do think some of the tiers can get boring, but that doesn’t mean wubwub is broken. Yes there are some things that need tweaking, but I fear anything major done by A.net will just screw it up. Wubwub it’s not for everybody. It will never match exactly what all people want.

I have found RP in the “hubs” is done in local, while RP done out in “the world” is usually party or guild.
also it’s much harder to RP while in combat, or travelling (especially with the downscaling), than while lounging in town.

If thing are slow and/or safe I may do some light RP, kneel and pray for the fallen, tend wounds with emotes etc. Or when just hanging out at a keep/depot or when watching a golem army march off to their doom.
But generally when things are active (and boy have they been the past few weeks) most don’t bother with RP. especially in the heat of battle.

I think a large part of the problem isn’t the drop rate, but leaving bags behind. I think half the time bags drop I don’t even realize a bag dropped, or I see the bag, but have to run to survive.

It’s a stupid arbitrary mechanic and those defending it know it. As for being OP, 3 ele with air focus 4 can negate all the ranged damaged in the world and protect the precious zerg. A few mesmers and their bounce back bubble would destroy an army of AoEers. Frankly there are many counters to Area of Effects abilities, they are just ignored, because they can be.

Wow a home instance? That sounds likes great idea, they should totally do that. While they’re at it they should also make a personal storyline. You know a story that is about your adventures (and not some weird Sylvari necro).

Seriously I was soooo excited about a home instance, I love “housing” in games and was rally looking forward to them here. To say I was disappointment would be a massive understatement.

All I have to say is I’m loving these matchup. Every time log in, it’s amazing fight after amazing fight. For the record I love defending. I tend to hang out at Gol and when by myself I go down fast, but like to think I give enough time for reinforcements to show up.

I loved this jumping puzzle. Props to the div(s) who made it.
I just hope future puzzles will be a mix of fast “timed” ones like this, and slow methodical ones. I also liked puzzles that tell a story.

there are a whole bunch of gender options I would love to see (I am realistic enough to know many can’t be implemented tho)
—chose gendered clothing when equipping
—choosing voice from more than 2 options (male/female/androgynous) at character creation.
—choosing which gendered emotes to use.
