Not to mention I’m talking teams not pugs. Pugquest is all pugs or teams of 2 that are then filled with pugs to fill out the roster. This is pure 5v5 pre made teams.
Ideas on a tournament meant just for those who have little/zero tournament experience but want to try? Or perhaps a tournament for those who do well in AG consistently but are not quite good enough yet for ESL.
Thoughts? I’m currently developing rule sets for both and will post those by tomorrow for people to discuss.

I can testify that FrenchFry is a mesmer player, and a decent duelist in his own right.
While he makes some pretty specious claims and arguments at times, he is at the very least a skilled player. You can’t dismiss him on those grounds :P
For testimonials, I suggest you ask Chaos Archangel how his last set of duels with the Fry ended up :P
You, meanwhile, hadn’t made a single post on the mesmer forums (almost entirely in the PvP forums) until that sudden “let’s rally the mesmer community!” post you made randomly. Since then, while I’ve seen you chime in a few places, none of your posts have been constructively contributing to the concepts of the class. Are you sure you’re a mesmer player, and not just a troll pretending to be?
Pretty sure I play mesmer…yup its in my character list. Getting pretty close to having it there for just under two years too. Yup 340 days. I spend most of my time in PvP/PvE where I have leveled up my Mesmer, This is why you see most of my posts in pvp. Go troll someone else son.

ArenaNet seems to be doing more and more to encourage teams instead of solo play in PvP. They have done this with the announcement of Leagues and the Guild team leaderboards. Now while leagues are not just for Teams it is implied that you will have better luck in them if you have a team.
Now the game once had a solo queue and it was taken away due to the population in PvP at the time being low. Now with free to play, ArenaNet is reporting a large increase of players into PvP so now the population is there to support a solo queue. Also though, why would I as a solo player on a team of pick ups want to fight a fully organized premade group who is most likely communicating on teamspeak or some other program? Now while ArenaNet can not do anything to stop the use of teamspeak in a match, if they added a solo queue they could by proxy discourage the use of such a program.
Not only that but a five person solo team going against another five person solo team enhances competition because both teams have a equal and fair chance to win the match because both are on equal footing regarding the way they communicate, fight and distribute players to various points on the maps.
Now to why I think the upcoming leagues do not favor solos and embrace the “premade team culture” that has become the Guild Wars 2 way of life in PvP for many. It does this in the sense that, you can honestly just solo the first league or two before the benefits of team kick in, because at a certain point you start to lose pips and tiers, in an attempt to negate this chance of loss, many will form a premade team thus making it more likely for them to get higher up, This leaves the solo player who doesn’t have a team or wants to play solo at a disadvantage.
A solo queue would benefit so many, let those who do not want to embrace the team culture have their chance for an equal footing in play.
Could ask the Mesmer haters to stay off the Mesmer forums. I’m becoming terrible angry at the Mesmer hate.
Is this how a majority of Mesmer players feel? I know I feel this way and the person who wrote this obvious feels this way.
Unfortunately, I think Mesmer is back to where the majority of GW2 players likes it, in Meh condition. This last set of nerfs just proves it. Some skills (phase retreat, izerker, etc) stay broken for months, but as soon as they give mesmers a little buff and BOOM the 50% nerf bat comes out Again in weeks or even days.(DD?) lol . and the 50% nerf to everything (confusion, retal. stealth, ect.) flys in the face of why they made HP so much higher than GW1. It was supposed to be so they could “fine tune” skills and dam. by making “small tweaks” to skills, well 50% again and again and now again does not feel like a small tweak, and shows that they do listen to the QQ and cowtow to pressure, Its a lot easier to crush the mes. community since its only about 9% of player base than listen to the other 91%

Biggest problem is I dont really enjoy my Mesmer no more. Minor problem I have not won but 3 matches since the patch. Not sure that is matchmaking or the build is just so weak now. Could be both. I am usually an average player.

This started as a joke but maybe I should create a guild called the Mesmer Players Union and invite people to join and be ambassadors of the class. We have OMFG for teaching but the only way to put pressure on the Anet machine to stop kittening us over is to unite as one entity and become UBER MESMER

problem is everyone thinks chrono will be the fix but give them 24 hours after release and they will have that nerfed too. We need to be giving them hell now instead of later.
Wonder if I start posting matches since the patch and how important the stealth was to survival would get their heads out of their kitten.
Is it fair to say that most PU Mesmers could settle if PU was bumped back up to say 65% instead of the current 50%?

Funny part is a dev wont come on this forum currently because they know they will get chewed out for pigeonholing Mesmers into a single build. This game lacks build diversity because every time a class gets it, someone has a kitten fit and they nerf it.

Heres the thing PU fell in a defensive trait line to help Mesmer’s improve their sustain during fights. We could challenge a thief 1v1 and it was about a 50/50 chance we would win. This is gone now, with the current PU nerf in place unless they adjust the stealth increase to at least 65% I would stay away from any fight that involves a huge amount of sustainability.
With the nerf of PU mesmers who could roam freely now must hold hands with their teammates and prey that their teammates can prop them up. I can honestly tell you at the current 50% I would not even consider PU as a candidate for a grandmaster trait and without it set properly around 60-65% Mass invisibility is not an efficient elite and is no longer worth the 80 second cd.
Yay back to thief bait, forgot to record it but last match I’d get two shot by the thief in the match during each 1v1 with them. Perhaps the fact out of ten matches tonight since the patch yesterday I have won three might show the PU trait was very important to sustain

Mesmer is in a horrible state after yesterdays patch, why buff us at all June 23rd if you were going to allow us to be debuffed so harshly yesterday. 75% stealth increase instead of 100% would have been just acceptable I keep saying this. It feels like ArenaNet has a flavor of the month when it comes to professions each time they release a balance patch.
It got nerfed because people were abusing PU and pledge trait primarily in WvW. Unfortunately all PU people have to pay the price regardless of game mode. I was playing PvP after the patch yesterday, and the gap in between mes damage and other classes for is growing even wider. Quite a few classes got large damage buffs yesterday to the point of getting ridiculous. Thieve pistol unload now does 12K crit damage.
Because we have phants and clones it seems we have to have lower sustain, lower damage, and limited condition removal although illusions often last for one attack or die in aoe fields before they can attack. Chrono is the one spec that actually gives more substantial damage, but the other elite specs also add substantial damage on top of already ample frames. Burning remains untouched, and overall damage just keeps going higher and higher. On normal specs mes just doesn’t feel in a good place to me any more. A lot of things that were given to mes have been rolled back because of abused broken skill interactions. It seems to me that mes are moving backwards to where it was before while other classes are moving forwards.
Problem is they know how to balance per mode, they have done it before separating out hovw things work in WvW and PvP/PvE. It is not a a foreign concept to them. It needed a nerf because 100% is stupid but reducing it by 25% instead of 50% would have been better and not quite so heavy handed. People complained because they could not beat a class they used to wipe the floor with and Anet (which I am convinced never tests their balances) basically reverted Mesmer back to the pre-Spec patch days in response.
Got to love how they moved this from the main forums to this backwater one where it could be ignored too,
Since boons don’t last fractional seconds, and Anet’s code rounds down, the “new PU” is exactly the same as the old PU in duration with the exception of adding 2 seconds to Mass Invisibility rather than the 1 second of yore.
PU has the following impacts:
Decoy: From 3 seconds to 4 seconds (50% of 3 is 1.5, 1.5 rounded down is 1).
Veil: From 2 seconds to 3 seconds (50% of 2 is 1, no rounding applied).
The Prestige: From 3 seconds to 4 seconds (50% of 3 is 1.5, rounded down is 1).
Mass Invisibility: From 5 seconds to 7 seconds (50% of 5 is 2.5, rounded down is 2).The effect of this change, at least from a stealth perspective, is put PU, basically, exactly where it was before the big trait revamp. It is, once again, not worth using. It’s gone the way of Fiery Greatsword, Ice Bow, and any other “OP” treat players have enjoyed that’s been nerfed into oblivion.

Hopefully constructive and calm video in regards to the heavy handed nerf of the PU trait on Mesmers. What I it should be and my thoughts on how Anet could perhaps learn to balance a bit more effectively.

Heres the thing, I created this post expecting my mesmer brothers to come out and go nope. What do I get instead a bunch of people who dont play the profession who want to complain because the class is not an easy kill no more.
