triple trouble: the power of one guild

The trouble here is the design of these events, not TTS.

The events like Teq. and Triple Trouble we designed to need a very large percentage of the allowable players in an instance. I think triple trouble requires well over 100 out of a 150 limit of players in the instance. So to do the event you need people who know how, some means of communication, and a lot of people willing to participate. And that means whoever is organizing is going to pretty much have to control the map.

Unfortunately, the megaserver change also means that those organizing the event can no longer choose a world and tell everyone, “please come to this server for this event.” Now those who want to do the event together are randomly spawned into multiple instanced and if they want to get together the only way is to find a map and join one another, often abandoning other instances.

The would be a lot better if there were some way players could choose which map they wanted to enter when loading – like the world guesting used to be or like the drop down selection for major cities in GW1 was. Then organizers could inform people which instance they would be in and people who want to do the event could join that specific instance without bothering others. Back before megaservers, people could also just check the TTS website and see which world it was going to be on, guest to that world, and take part without actually being part of TTS itself.

TTS is just doing what they have to do to be able play together and do these events under the current restrictions. The only real solution would be for Anet to change the design of these events to give the player more control over which instance they will enter.

I don’t mind the change if they would include a black weapon scrap in EVERY BLC. If you buy 50 keys, you really should be guaranteed a weapon skin. As it is, I do buy a few keys now and then if farming has got me close to 10 scraps. but if the farming goes, I lose all incentive to buy any keys.

Cultural Armor - Unlocking

Cannot find a previous topic to see if this has been asked. I wanted to upgrade my asuran to cultural but could not see listed in my wardrobe. Knowing that I have the achieve The Emperor’s New Wardrobe I have obviously previously bought all the cultural armor. and expected it all to be unlocked.

So why then are the cultural armor skins still locked?

Am I expected to spend another ton of gold to unlock them?

You may not, in fact, have bought all the armor. You only needed 18 unique pieces of each culture to get emperor. Each culture actually has 54 pieces of armor. So, for instance, you only needed to get 1 t3 glove – it didn’t matter whether it was heavy, medium or light. So, if you bought 6 pieces of t3 light asuran armor, for instance, you could have gotten the title without unlocking any heavy armor at all.

I got to say I agree with a lot of the OP’s opinions. It feels like this game has no direction, or, rather, keeps changing direction.

We had several of the elder dragons already awake. Having killed Zhaitan, the logical expectation would be for an expansion that would pit us against another. Instead we get the living story that introduces Mordy. But wait, we have not really fought him yet even though I understand the living story is not going to advance for some time. So we got part way there and then….nothing.

We got two worlds in the SAB but then, it’s on hold.

We get new armors – but only in the gemstore. And now, even in the gemstore, we get outfits instead of armor, effectively separating appearance from gameplay itself even though originally advancement was supposed to be in terms of appearances not stats.

And, yeah, no scavenger hunt for legendaries.

And, to be honest, even the story line felt pretty thrown together.

There is a reason why the legendaries are so high and farming is so popular. There is nothing else to do in this game that feels “finished.”

It would be really nice if someone at ANet said, "here is where we are going to go and here is how we are going to get there instead of feeling like we playing half a dozen half finished projects (all of which were good ideas but few of which were ever really completed).

First – players NEVER see the big picture as far as game development. They always focus on what they want, not about the whole game. A.Net has to look at the game as a whole and move forward from there. SAB was temporary content, put in during an April Fools Joke. People thought it would be cool as permanent content, but it really doesn’t fit with the basic premise of GW2, fighting the Elder Dragons (but neither does Trahearne but we will cross that bridge later).

A.Net doesn’t HAVE to tell you anything, but they are trying to do it cautiously. Why do you need to know EVERYTHING? It would be like the author telling you the storyline of his/her upcoming novel. It ruins the whole novel. Same here.

I never said we need to know everything. But we do need to know that there is actually some direction. Constantly changing direction while finishing nothing isn’t fun.

the blaster sounds really useful honestly. It’s not the random mini annv. presents of GW1, but this is a different game afterall.
So what’s birthday number 3?! lol.

It would be useful if it were not for the fact you can’t get the boost if you have eaten any other food item until the original food boost wears out. There is no way to choose to accept the cake boost if you already have a food boost on your toon. So, my toon just recently used a metabolic booster and I won’t be able to get the boost from my own cake for almost 24 hours of game play. So, at the moment is is just a funny looking, and useless gun.

Any level restrictions? I can see people using it for key farming if there are none.

Well, it is soulbound so you would have to have a friend shoot a cake for you.

The Birthday Blaster appears to look like Scarlet’s gun but with a slightly different skin and a little glow effect.

cannot get the speed boost again to prevent stacking duration.

edit
Additional info:
You cannot receive the cake nourishment if you already have nourishment active.

  • This is good as you don’t have to worry about your expensive food getting replaced by accidentally running over a cake.
  • This is bad though since you cannot remove your active nourishment (or any buff) manually, so you cannot choose to get the cake buff until the timer wears out on your active nourishment.

yeah this is weird and is going to make it essentially useless most of the time. Seems it would have been better to put an “eat” interaction when running over the cake so you could choose to keep your previous buff or to get the cake buff. I honestly can’t think of many times I’m going to skip the food buff in order to get the cake.

Unable to apply dyes to my engineer (only)

I see you have a very dark dye (midnight ice?) on your hands, chest and shoulder but that your panel does not show it as being unlocked. Did you dye this armor on another toon and then move or transmute it to this one? If so, you will have to log in with a toon that has unlocked that color in order to unlock it for your account. Otherwise you will be unable to dye those three pieces. Either that or dye over any locked colors with color you have unlocked – or, if you deleted the toon that unlocked the dye you will have to rebuy it to unlock it, I suspect.

I believe that is cultural armor and can only be found in the Grove and can only be used by Sylvari toons. Since it is bound on acquire, you will not find it on the trading post.

Not sure who shouts this but for 3 months I wondered why people were calling me the word that starts with a “b” and means a kid whose parents are not married (which is not printed here because it gets translated into “kitten”)

One day it hit me they were telling me to go “faster.”

From in game go to:
Game Menu
Support

At the bottom select “GW Support Website”

In the upper right hand corner of that website will be “submit a request”

From there just follow the steps they give you. The first step will be to select the category of issue you have, in this case “purchase issue” probably is the one.

However, they almost never replace an item lost due to player deleting them. but I had a bunch of extra gems so I just gifted you a broom – let me know if you don’t get it.

Cause everyone should have a broom – how else will we keep Tyria clean?

So, I see more players in LFG key farming

The optional stuff: get collector’s edition for a banker golem, get primeval vintage armor with collector’s so you get a helmet and shoulders with power runes. Get executioners axe halloween toy for running speed. Get polla from dragon bash with garnet pebble (not possible anymore). Get hero’s band from preordering gw2 (not possible anymore). Get an unbound backpiece with garnet pebble using a transmutation splitter (not possible anymore).

Can you explain the highlighted part? That’s the first I’ve heard of Primeval Vintage armor. And for ‘collectors,’ do you mean Digital Deluxe or something else? Because DD gives you the banker golem too.

Otherwise a very useful list, and one I’ll be using in one of my hobbies – experiencing all racial PS lines. Finishing up Norn, just have Human and Charr left now.

I believe this has been changed but for a while, if you bought the gem store item “primeval armor” you got 6 skins to apply to other pieces of armor PLUS a non-level piece of each piece of armor (head, hands, feet, etc). Those non-leveled pieces of armor could take a rune or upgrade, unlike the starting helm or shoulders. So for those that bought it during that time, they got 2 rune slots for their key farming armor that can no longer be obtained. It also used to work to put any armor skin on a piece of armor and then to use a splitter to separate it back off – this yielded a non-level piece of armor with a rune slot.

But, again, this can no longer be done.

Ah, that explains it nicely. Thank you. I was trying to make sense of their stating to get that skin set, but could not think of how to achieve what they were stating it would achieve.

If it is any comfort, however, 6 power runes were sort of overkill anyway. Four power runes plus a garnet on your weapon are quite adequate to do the run quickly. It’s just a tiny bit slower on one or two of the named mobs but not enough to matter.

So, I see more players in LFG key farming

Sovereign Punisher Skin

OK, first make sure the skin is in your inventory not your bank and that the mace you want to put it on is equipped.

When you go to wardrobe, click on the equipped mace and then check and see if the punisher skin is above the collections list on your left.

I don’t know if that is your problem but it was mine. It took a good half hour for me to figure that out when I was using a skin last week – I kept looking in the collections list and it never occurred to me that there was another list above it.
