That’s not quite correct. A pug is a pick up group. I.e. a group of less organized players.

So if some members from guild Y picked up some dudes from guild X and their best friend from guild Z, that would indeed be a PUG. However, if these dudes then frequently starts running together, they would no longer be a PUG.

Turns out the term comes from WoW, no surprises there.
Its not perfectly correct but in the context of WvW and GW2 I’d say its close enough to on the mark and I’ve seen it used plenty of times to simply describe a bad.
I think its safe to say the meaning of this word has changed to suit WvW.

The term predates WoW by almost a decade and dates back at least until the beginning of EQ and the simple inference that people who don’t know each other would demonstrate less teamwork than those who are together often is a no brainer. Doesn’t mean they’re bad players at all, just less coordinated.

Don’t pugs date back to the Shang Dynasty. I read about it on the Internets so it has to be true… or am I missing something here?

You are quite clearly missing the fact that PUG is an abbreviation in this context, not a word.

None taken, I know the message you were conveying & we really do enjoy fighting other realms of like minds instead of being against the endless ZOMBIE SURVIVAL mode zerg. I roam solo, until I start or another starts leading later in the night, as a “staff” elm in the afternoons and sometimes with a few others if on. (Yes I said staff, since I “only” play staff 99% of the time) so I’m sure we will meet out there many more times for some fun ;-)

It is different then saying “DR lacks maturity” This would be generalizing a server, I would think.

And of course people will do as they wish, but it doesn’t mean we can not ask to have a mature player base.

That’s rather depressing, because I had no traps set. Was literally only myself on your map for a good few hours. All I wanted to do was bait people out for some decent fights :[ At least I managed to catch a few of them open field by taking camps.

The best I can say to that, is to try and party them and say you want some 1v1s OR /bow towards one of them. These are two ways we go about honourable fights.

Well, I have been busy tending to my motherly/wifely duties for the past 24 hours, I’ve not a clue as to what has been going on. But I will say, the people who have wished ET/FC good luck and warm wishes, are truly sincere. I know mine was utterly well intended. Though, being the momma bear I am, I am deeply hurt by this post. After two weeks of sitting in keeps/towers ALMOST 24/7, running endless supply and defending our BL so passionately that I almost cried when we lost garrison, it is delightful to see that we are moving up. I feel exhilarated!

Every time I read about this supposed FC/GoM tag-teaming, I QQ inside. Because GoM and ET have never, ever both run up FCBL at the same time, have they?

There’s no tag-teaming. There’s no alliance. There’s no conspiracy. ET just has blood in the water and we’re all circling it at the moment. And, yeah, we lost our upgraded Bay and Garrison to GoM. But I’m okay with that when I get to wipe a whole, whole, whole bunch of ET.

see that’s the thing I don’t understand, you leave the door wide open for GoM to take Garrison and Bay but stop ET from taking 1 hill (seems like they left the door wide open for their garrison for you to take as well) im not saying their is an alliance going on but it sure does seem like it, I very rarely see GoM and FC hit each others BL but if they do its just 1 tower or camps.

Don’t even suggest that it ‘looks’ like an alliance. Because it most certainly is not. With all of the blood, sweat and love we’ve put into upgrading our structures, we would not willing give them up to anyone. We do not play that way.

I do miss the fights along side you too Pita. I’ve gotten spoiled from it since I often have someone else with me and think we can handle 5-6 no problem. Trouble is, its not you and I turn around to see that I’m the only one left standing. Those foes still standing have that look of I’m going to kill me a mes. At that point, its about survival and seeing how many guys I can down. Very hard to finish guys with that kind of odds.

I know. if its not my bird, its my bear, or worse my tower, i think they just dont want me to have friends. Maybe its my big blue beaver that offends?

Really? From reading all the drama on T7 thread I do not think I saw anything from an SF players saying something about you. At least it proves that you are just trying to create drama wherever you go. I was giving you the benefit of a doubt because I only read the threads. GoM is dominant because they are plain out classing us at the macro level. Overall better tactics and strategy. Their night capping crew is not the sole source of their success this week, just one aspect. They are fully upgrading, sieging, and actively defending their structures both in EB and their home BL. They also have solid small man teams constantly harassing ET/FC BL’s, etc… Straight forward solid play and I respect them, minus those chumps from GOML.

And defending is a full time job, let me tell you. But I enjoy it.
