Energy:
I don’t mind that weapon skills use energy, I think it adds to the experience of managing energy. However, I do think that weapon skills should use less energy especially now that we get two weapon sets. I think energy charging to 100 out of combat is a good idea too.

Utilities:
I also don’t (particularly) mind that we get stuck with a strict set of utilities when we swap into a legend. I think that this aspect of the revenant provides some counterplay for the other classes. If they can identify the legend you’re using they can play to the weaknesses of that “stance”. However, I feel like if this is to stay then the revenant should get more condi cleanse. I think that if our big weakness is supposed to be conditions then the way legends determine our utilities shouldn’t be as big a weakness. At the moment both of these things are leaving us very vulnerable and one of them should probably be fixed a little.

Glint:
I love it and I have literally zero complaints, beside feeling like the revenant is missing a core spec without it. And I think the revealing utility is bugged.

Unrelenting Assault is massively OP

Hammer is insane now?

Ugh….please don’t give in to pvp crying ANet. Please.

Its does decent damage with quick projectile , its not like OP as hell but i like crits ~2,4k on squishy guys.
(prolly might)

Did you just call revenant hammer “quick”? Lol okay.

This. So many great ways to counter UA once you know what you’re doing.

@cursE Deth is right, players just need time to get used to it and learn how to counter it. I was playing pvp a lot today and I had eles going invulnerable, mesmers blocking, people going invisible, dodging, whatever. There are plenty of ways to counter Unrelenting Assault, and there are other classes who have just as much burst. UA is more or less fine and I think people should probably play around a bit more before they cry wolf. I’d look at ele icebow or instakill shatter mesmers before this.

Herald holds too much of the Rev's power

But then what happens when the next wave of elite specs are released? We can’t take both Herald and the new one, then we miss (what feels like) a core part of the class. But I also agree with Gray, I think Jalis is a great legend too and makes the revenant feel more tanky.

Staff Skills

caerulean.4837

Are amazing. I love the staff, especially during the bits of pvp that I’ve tried out.
But staff 2 seems really slow to me; although this is probably deliberate since the follow through is a daze? It just feels awkward to use in pvp. Other than that (and the slightly underwhelming shield 5) I’m in love with the revenant and I can’t wait to actually level one. My days of character hopping are definitely over.

Herald circle aura colour

caerulean.4837

I like the idea too but I definitely think they should make the circle less noticeable, transparency is a pretty good idea. I don’t mind the outer symbols staying as they are but having the huge circle under my character at all times is already a little annoying I agree.

Herald Facet of Strength

caerulean.4837

Elements is pretty easy to hit with since it’s an aoe; I can often hit them with the initial weakness if nothing else. I use it as an opener a lot. And yeah, the “double tap for 20 vulnerability” is one of my favourite things.

How do you counter sword 3?

And i’m pretty sure it has a cast time? Which means you can interrupt it if you’re fast enough.

What Race Will You Play? (Rev)

in Revenant

caerulean.4837

Hm. I was certain that I wanted a male sylvari, as they’re my favourite race and the revenant will definitely be my main I think. But then I realized how many sylvari characters I already have, and now I have no idea which race I’ll pick. All I know is it won’t be charr or asura.

Open World Mesmers?

in Mesmer

caerulean.4837

Hi! I’m just getting back into the game after a long break and i’ve been playing around on my mesmer, catching up on living world and stuff. Is it just me, or is mesmer still not as strong as other classes when it comes to open world pve? Kinda makes me want to play through the story on another character. So my question: is there any way to deal with this, such as a specific build that helps or something?

Who's the dev responsible for engi

in Engineer

caerulean.4837

Let’s hope then! Anet reveal engi this monday! Please? PLEASE???! <3

Not this week but engi is definitely next since ranger is last and thief has to be neglected.

Can you provide a link to Ranger being last? I was under the impression they are being shown in the order they are ready, and I’ve got the impression Engi is furthest from ready.

What gives you that impression? I personally can’t tell which is going to be announced last.

Overloads and the Tempest's Role

in Elementalist

Posted by: caerulean.4837

caerulean.4837

Overload is a boring mechanic and adds nothing new to the Elementalist. I know that it isn’t true, but it feels like a lot less thought went into the Tempest than other elite specs.

Every other class got some kind of coherent theme that differed from that of the base class. For example, we were told that the Reaper is meant to be a melee brawler horror-movie-monster with a focus on chill, I think they did that really well, and that’s amazing. But then they just call the Tempest “frontline close ranged support” which is exactly what the Herald is. And they seem to do it better than us. I just feel like the Tempest is lacking on a conceptual level and it’s just the same old Ele with a new offhand.

The Tempest makes me want to switch to an Engi or Mesmer. And that is a real shame, since Ele was my first class and remains my favourite to this day.

Returning Mesmer

caerulean.4837

Hey! So I just came back to GW2 after almost a year away because the real world decided not to leave me with too much time on my hands. Until that I had been playing since launch with an Ele main and a Mesmer + Engi for pvp. But now I think I’d like to focus on my Mesmer instead, because I admittedly remember the Ele having quite a repetitive playstyle. And so many little issues I had with the class are gone now (constant swiftness on signet of inspiration is so cool).

Okay now my actual point, I do have a few questions about the general state of mesmers and the kind of build I should be aiming for. I’ve searched around for some info but a lot of stuff I found was from before all the changes to traits and specialisations. I should also mention that I focus on pvp and pve for dungeons and fractals. I only have a couple questions.

1. Should I be building for power or conditions? I love the staff but remember the builds using staff were less great.

2. Are shatter builds still doing okay, or should I be focusing on phantasms or mantras?

3. What kind of stats should I be trying to get on my weapons and armour? Is celestial armour useful or should I just hunt down pure berserker gear?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

Chronomancer Changes for Next BWE

I didn’t get to play in the beta weekend so I can’t really comment on the changes to alacrity and the effect they have. But I really like the change to Gravity Well. I love the idea of multiple aoe pulls and honestly that’d be enough for me to pick it as my elite in a number of situations both PvE and PvP. So I don’t really mind that the final effect is stability, but yeah I can imagine how fun a float would have been. I’m just excited for more CC.

Thief To Ele. Is it worth it?

in Elementalist

Posted by: caerulean.4837

caerulean.4837

I think you should definitely give the elementalist a go. It seems like you have the motivation, and in my honest opinion elementalists are a great profession. I have had an 80 ele for about a year now and still play him more than my other two lvl 80 chars (mesmer and engineer).

You hit the nail on the head there when you said it has burst, CC, dps and heals. But fair warning; we don’t have as much survivability as other classes and most of the time our heals, water attunement and defensive buffs are all that keep us alive. Although since you’re coming over from another moderately squishy profession I’d say you’ll get used to it pretty quickly.

The elementalist is pretty great in wvw and pve, although it takes a lot of effort to get very far with it in pvp and that will probably be the most difficult transition for you. There is also a lot of button pushing and you have to learn each attunement and how to manage the cooldowns of a lot of abilities.

So in summary, in my opinion the elementalist is amazing and fun to play, you just have to put in a lot of time and effort to be as effective as some of the other classes. If you don’t end up enjoying it, I would recommend the mesmer, you’d probably have a bit less trouble switching over to that class?

Is The Thief Worth It?

in Thief

Posted by: caerulean.4837

caerulean.4837

I have a lvl 80 mesmer and elementalist that I play most of the time and an engineer that I’ve been ignoring, but with all the new changes to the levelling system and such I thought I’d try out a new profession. Thief seems the most interesting and probably the most enjoyable but I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about this profession.

So my question is: would levelling a thief be worth it or should I just stick with what I have? How has the new balance update affected thieves?

Temporal Curtain

in Mesmer

Posted by: caerulean.4837

caerulean.4837

So I’ve noticed that if you already have swiftness you don’t gain swiftness when crossing temporal curtain. I understand that it would be ridiculous to be able to get multiple stacks of swiftness by crossing the same temporal curtain many times, but not being able to contribute to a zerg’s swiftness very well is a little underwhelming. Especially when other classes don’t really have a similar issue.

Out-of-Combat Speed Boost

in Mesmer

Posted by: caerulean.4837

caerulean.4837

I’ve heard a large number of people complain about the Mesmer’s lack of a passive out of combat speed buff and as I’m nearing level 80 on my own Mesmer I have to agree with them. Every other class (besides the Guardian, correct me if I’m wrong) has a speed signet or some way of gaining perma swiftness. I know people who have dropped the whole class just because of this, and I’m kind of tempted to do the same.

I also read a suggestion somewhere that sounded really intelligent: why not add the 25% speed increase to our Signet of Inspiration and take swiftness off of the list of boons it has a chance to give? Or just take all the other boons off?
But if Anet won’t do something about it, is there actually any way to keep up with the other professions when travelling around the open world that doesn’t involve having to buy specific sets of runes?
