I can see a lot of work has gone into this event, but firstly I was extremely surprised to see no intro or even an invite to the Halloween event in game. Even a mail explaining where to go and what is happening would have been expected as the barest minimum requirement. Then there is very little guidance as to what to do. If you do figure out to visit Lion’s Arch, one is left totally guessing as there is little or no instructions or tutorial, the only instructions I found was for the use of the candy powered matter meter, but even these are very confusing to say the least without some sort of tutorial. For instance with the food fight in Lion’s Arch there is no instructions or intro what-so-ever. One eventually goes up to the table and is asked to simply press F to food fight and that is it, end of instructions. I press F and I see myself throw something, but I haven’t got a clue what to do or what I’m meant to achieve. How do you food fight? Where are the instructions? What is the point of it, can you win anything? Do you target other players as they’re not red, if so which players? Is there any new skills as they’re not showing on the skill bar and if so how do you use them? How do you control throwing, is there different ways to throw? Do you avoid others and if so how, can you move away from the table or what? What are all the boons (buffs) I’m seeing on other players that I target all about? I’m sorry, but this is absolutely ridiculous and this is just one small part of the event that is not explained. Where else in the game world are the events going on if any, I found the event at Lions Arch, but I understand there is more going on? There is apparently a story too, how do you get involved with that? There is a complete and utter lack of answers or instructions and I’m close to simply giving up, my friend has already given up as it’s too frustrating not having a clue what to do or where to go. I’m amazed that something as vital as this has been totally forgotten, especially since it would have taken a fraction of the time it took to make the event to include a suitable tutorial and guidance. Okay one could hunt around on the Internet for the answers, but you most definitely shouldn’t have to do this and there is all sorts of information as you plough through the Internet, good and bad. At first there was very little information what-so-ever and much of the information is now from other users. I have never played any MMO where you don’t have an invite or intro to a new world event or festival, plus every part of the event is always explained properly with instructions and often a tutorial is added when needed too, this is normally common sense and expected as standard.

In hind sight now the event has already been launched in this condition I would urgently send out a mail to every member inviting them to the event with a full guide to each part as it progresses. This isn’t as good as a proper tutorial and guidance you’d expect in the game, but it will suffice as an emergency fix on this occasion. In future please ensure proper invites, tutorials Etc are included with any event as you’d expect. In fact the entire game could do with tutorials and I’ve already read of critics mentioning this as it’s very difficult for people who are new to MMOs, adding this to the game would be very beneficial to many people overall in the long term. I am however an MMO veteran and even I’m still struggling to understand the new Halloween Event, so newbies to MMOs probably wouldn’t have a chance.

I was completely lost for a while. had to look stuff up on youtube and google to figure out what the hell is happening. It would be nice to know the scope of everything that ’s going on. I completely agree with you on this.

thank you so much. is it just me or are the “clues” really not very good? Maybe i’m missing something but site #2 was impossible for me to figure out w/o using a guide. Also, why is there a meter in the upper right hand side for the tool you use only some of the time? And it doesn’t do anything….hmmm.

It’s really unlikely, first directx games are usually always faster than opengl ones (drivers are far better and most games are developed for them), second this client is a port using a translation layer. If you’d get 70% of the Win perf that would already be a big win.

My performance is slightly increased with the new OSX 10.8.2 update as well. hopefully it will continue moving in that direction. Until then i’m bootcamping.

i’m using the mid-2011 15" MBP with an ATI 6770m. Hey I’m happy to just be able to run GW2 in mac, but the performance is not as good as when bootcamped. i’m typically around 20-40 FPS in Lions Arch with setting on medium/high when bootcamped, in OSX i’m 5-20 FPS. oh well, if they get it fixed that would be great if not that’s ok too.

If you want to buy the MBP 13" I’d suggest to wait the new one with retina display is right at the corner of being unveiled.
As for which one to get, the faster the better, but consider that your MBP is not a gaming device and will strain with certain 3D game, if you are a big gamer I’d recommend the iMac which sports better processor and graphics than the MBP, but then again I’d wait as they are about to update them as well.

I would say that the imac don’t necessary have “better” processor and graphics, it’s actually the same thing – all mobile platform stuff. I could say that you get more for your money because they are cheaper than the MBPs at the same spec. the current imac line up needs a refresh and actually has the graphics and processors the MBPs had last year.

i’m running a 15" macbook pro (late 2011) w/ ATI 6770m, 4GB RAM, 2.4 i7. While bootcamping I can run with med. settings and some high (med shadows) and get 30-50 fps. During world events (big bosses) & lions arch it will drop to 20ish fps depending on how many characters on on the screen, etc… I’m hoping the Mac client will allow me a light bump in graphics but i’m guessing it will be about the same. No, it’s not the best gaming laptop but I much prefer Macs OSX to windows and us my mac for school, work, and some gaming so for me it gets the job done. So if you want some decent graphics settings I would look at picking up the newer 15" or the 15" from last year. I’m not sure how to integrated graphics will do, you might be able to get low/med settings to work fine. Looks like imacs are sporting the 6770m card.

Slack – the 15" are a little big/heavy but you get used to it. the 2.3 would be powerful enough to get med/high settings no prob.

i’m not trying to be a “know-it-all” or anything but try turning shadows down to med or low and you might be able to bump other graphics settings up. in my experience shadows are the most graphically demanding setting.

k, maybe i’ll try updating the drivers. I’m not sure what soundcard I have. i’ll look it up.

In the middle of world event bosses (behemoth and the shatterer) my sound stops and I just get this pulsating humming comming form my speakers. The only thing that fixes it is exiting to desktop and then restarting the game. Any ideas?
