Won two tournaments, one 2nd and one 3rd place…no chests for few hours now. Any1 else with the same issue?
Server: Gandara
Whole group should zerg two points constantly…just move from one to another, and zerg them, if you’re fast enough it should work fine. It worked well for my group once against 4 guards and ranger .
I had like 16k morale when he was downed, as i said, semi glass canon, but still, he did massive damage compared to other thiefs i encountered, and he died so fast (estimated…he had maybe around 12-13k morale pool), so i guess he was class cannon too. I did make some mistakes, can’t deny, but still, it was nothing I’ve seen ever before, 1k+ per hit.
About mesmers…yep, their’s illusions are dealing massive damage even when they are downed, it’s kinda lame, in my opinion they should vanish when mesmer is down.
Go with PUGs…most of the time we manage to go to the 3rd round. And sometimes we don’t communicate at all, but still wining against pre-made teams. Try it, it’s fun!
Few days ago i was in tPvP with PUG playing elemetalist d/d semi glass cannon build. I was going to cap one of the bases, but there was one thief guarding it. He never seen me coming, so i basically downed him in 2 secs. He managed to damage me for 2k maybe (and cripple me), before he went to downed state.
Immediately after that he started throwing knives at me and dealing massive damage. While i was crippled, I couldn’t get to him so fast to stomp him, he just teleported and was hitting me again. When i was near him for the 2nd time, i went down :S. I could’ve used my heal utility skill or even water attunement skills to heal up….but still i don’t think that someone should do that much damage from downed state…
I was playing thief for some time, and i know there’s a trait to increase your downed damage, but i didn’t know it’s that powerful…
I don’t have any problems with Warriors, at least most of them…depending on my and their’s build+skills. And I’m playing with elementalist most of the time…really enjoying it.
Some professions have OP skills, but nothing game breaking atm. I can manage it .
I’m playing with ele too but in a highly crit build, and I’m always trying to do AoE skills in the middle of “them”, and most of the time killing all his clones. Also i’m trying to keep away from his AoE fields, and trying to remove confusion whenever i can. It’s working quite good for now, especially when playing against not so good mesmers.
So i guess the key is AoE damage, as Sjach also said…
It doesn’t matter that much right now, because Anet made a fix. Before the fix you could farm as long as you wanted, for like 1k+ points. Now there’s a cap on 300 or so, not quite sure. But still, not sure if that’s bannable…
It’s not much of a difference to win or lose the match. When you’re auto-transferred to another group, you still carry your points with you. Only thing you lose is your win bonus, which is not that huge…
Hm…most of the time I’m willingly switching to losing group to help them make things more even, especially if my “wining” group is in a zerg. I really don’t care if I win or lose. What matters to me is to have fun and be as much efficient as I can.
What about water attunement? This is a very important part of my rotation (heals, damage and CC, life saving in most cases).
And what’s your build? Try to experiment with those also. You can find some of the nice builds on the internet. Try few of them and report back.
Even spammers have to have some skill to be efficient. Most of them are not playing smart, and just spamming HS hoping you’ll die eventually. Such players do not represent any threat to me (except when i’m out of my CDs and they jump me when i’m at 1/3 of my health).
And this is not about pressing 2222, or 1234, it’s about using your skills wisely. I agree, it’s the same for me pressing one skill 5 times, or pressing 5 skills one time, but what do you have from that if you do not use them wisely.
I really laugh all the time when i see thief spamming HS on me even when i’m in mist form. How is that skillful? Wasting your initiative for nothing, and ending up dead after that. I’m really looking forward to encounter those thiefs one on one.
I’ve got better gear from chests after rank 20 or so. About salvaging and using mystic forge…I’ve tried many combinations, but somehow I always get same stuff that i get from chests. I guess you’ll have to play tournaments to get some better mystic forge stuff to combine for better looking armor and weapons.
Hm…i’m playing mostly with elementalist, and I can tell you that i have most problems with necros and mesmers. Necro can burn my health in a 2-3 secs, and i can’t do anything about it. I didn’t play with necro myself, and maybe i’m doing something wrong when fighting them 1vs1 (i’m trying to remove conditions, but still, going down so fast)…most of the time when fighting good necro, I’m dead.
I don’t have so much problem with other classes, but those two…uh…
Useful tip: In game, you can type /wiki orange, and it will open GW2 wiki page on your browser with info about oranges. Same with every other GW2 related thing.
Not sure, but I think that oranges might drop as an extra from chopping wood….
Yep…they are. It happened to me also in another MMO while i was progressing with my chars, and leveling up. But when I was using another acc with low level chars, it was going smooth (same client). So maybe it’s about complexity of your characters and their’s data…dunno…
What is your favorite elemental attunement for underwater combat for an Elementalist?
Posted by: choban.9027
Hm…I prefer water for water. Some heals/regeneration + good damage and cc if used right…still, i’m constantly changing my attunements, but water is my favorite
…
Here’s a good idea from another thread:
I agree with the last two posts. Either make it a queue system by default OR take away the benefits of Winning. I would also suggest lowering the points obtained from kills from 5 to 1. That way the game becomes even more focused on capturing points and getting other players out of them by any means necessary and even less emphasis on running around zerging the map looking for kills. This would make point defending/capping more rewarding as well, at least in feeling anyway.
There should also be glory rewarded for amount of time spent inside captured points for people who actually defend. Often times people don’t stick around captured points because they are missing out on glory but actually securing objectives, which seems a little antagonistic to the whole goal of the maps.
If this increases glory gain per match, the simplest solution would be to increase cost of vendors.
Since I’m adding suggestions still, I’ll add one more and say remove glory sharing between characters as well as Rank; but that is just a personal preference, and I think it would give people more reason to pvp with other professions if they wanted more bragging rights or something.
When im pvping in normal bg’s my goal naturally is to win the game but as gw2 is now, its no point to it.
on several occasions when enemy team moves in 1 huge ball, ive found it easy to outmove them, ninja their points and win the game but ive come to realize that its not worth it.
When enemy team is zerging they nearly always win the teamfights and the whole team is getting kills.
Usually when this scenario is happening, the enemy team players have +100 points more than players in my team, even if we win the game, we get maybe 30 bonus points from the actual win… i find this rather silly.
+1 to this!
I really hate zergs, and I’m never part of them. I know it’s sometimes fun to do that, and it feels like you’re invincible, but think about other players….zerg are really ruining game experience for the group who’s not in zerg formation. Yes, you can win without being in zerg group, but it’s really not worth it…
Still, I don’t see any good way to get rid of this kind of playing, and reward those who are not zerging and still wining.
Indeed, i was writing about this in some other thread. Only good thing about Vapor Form is that you can survive easily if there’s a situation 1v1, and you’re both downed…
As elementalist, I always have mist form utility skill ready. So, if I’m unable to dodge his chain of skills, mist form is there. You can easily avoid any massive damage and prepare for your counter attack, or even run away…
I think i read somewhere that they are working on this issue. So, we’ll see. There’s also one thing you can do to look behind you. You can bind one of the keys for option to look behind you instantly.
There are practice dummies in Lion’s Arch, but I’m not really sure how these works…dmg output on them is really low…
My elementalist is my main sPvP class, and I’m very happy with it. Yep, i’m squishy, but also i can do massive damage/bleeds/burning with some nice CC stuff and heal/defensive abilities…depending on build and weapon usage. So i wouldn’t say it’s useless.
Go thief and spam HS…easy way to win against most of the players right now.
Or you can find empty server in sPvP and spar there with your friend. Those are the options right now…
I’ve been in the same situation, but luckily I didn’t lose that much gold. It was my mistake doing such thing and trusting people i don’t know, so I never reported that guy. From now on, I’m only using trading post to do any sorts of transactions. Too bad there’s no COD system in game.
Feel sorry for you….hope you’ll get your gold back!
EDIT: Ok, I think I’m really confused about what this fix actually does. When I launch GW2, or any game for that matter, my clock speeds kick up from 300mhz to 900mhz. Does this fix try and overclock your card so that it works much better with GW2? Or does it make it so it is not stuck permanently on 300mhz when playing games (which never happened to me in the first place)?
This basically OC your GPU settings, but bad thing about this method is that your GPU is forced to be on these setting all the time (while idle, watching movies, playing flash content, and so on).
Settings from the original article is just increasing GPU clock speed a bit to improve 2D content rendering and has nothing to do with 3D performance.
Setting in this thread will do force Overclock of GPU clock and memory, and will keep those values all the time. IMO, it’s better to use CCC Overdrive tool (or MSI tool also) to overclock for only under load performance, and you’ll get the same thing when playing GW2 and other 3D games. (but be careful, try to increase those values in small steps, and see how your card is performing)

25 atm, without using boosts and point farming. Mostly playing with my ele. Didn’t do any tournaments for now…
Try to search on market. Press “O” and then choose “Trading post” tab. You can search for everything there.
But if i were you, i would stick to quest rewards and random loot drops. Your level is too low to spend your silver on stuff you really don’t need atm.
Just play the game and don’t worry too much about items you carry around, for now.
@Lightyears why is that relevant? We come from all over the world, and some of us never learned English in school (including me). So that’s not a valid point if you ask me… I also make lots of mistakes, but it’s important that we understand each other …
Elemetalist doesn’t need any drastic buffs. It’s perfect as it is (imo). I know it’s hard to play with it, but I like things being challenging enough. In sPvP you can almost kill any other class in 1vs1, depending on both builds and skill.
As i said on some other thread, there are two things i would like to see in the future:
1. Weapon swapping in combat (like all other classes). Yes i know that we have attunements to switch, but still, it would be great to be able to switch from d/d to staff, or s/d in the middle of fight, if you need more range and cc skills.
2. Useful downed skill for interrupt. All other classes seem to have some sort of fast reaction downed skill to buy you some time, but ele doesn’t. Ele’s skill for rooting your opponent is not so useful, because they are already by your side when you’re able to use it. Mist form has a long CD, and you almost never get a chance to use it…
Response to the post above: I disagree with you. Elementalist can be very hard to kill, with lots of heals, buffs and cc skills. I’ve seen some of them kiting 3-4 other players for a minute or so in sPvP, and still not dying while doing nice DoTs and opening weaknesses for other players to finish them. I’ve never tried that build to be a support class, but as i saw, it’s possible to do lots of stuff if you know what are you doing…
(edited by choban.9027)
Ele is my main PvP character, and i’m very happy with it. I’m now rank 24, and 90% of all sPvP matches were with ele. Yep, it’s hard, but it is supposed to be this way. Ele is maybe the hardest class to play in GW2. It’s challenging, but after some tome, when you develop good skill rotation, ele kicks * and you can stay alive for quite some time.
About crits…I’ve managed to crit up to 8k with fire grab on debuffed target, but it was an glass canon build. Even with some mid builds there were some nice crits popping up, and massive burning/bleeding damage.
Only things that I would like to see are in combat weapon swapping for ele, and some useful interrupt skill when downed (like all other classes have).
My gf has the same problem you described here. She’s playing with Norn Mesmer. We were playing same story line. Everything seems fine with mine, but her’s next quest is for lvl 48. Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks!
I’m really not sure if this is a bug or what, but as i can remember, that option was there in previous beta weekends. When u hit “H” and choose PvP tab….there’s no data for wins by profession, etc…
Any1 else with the same problem? Or maybe it’s just me….
