It actually is bugged, but not how he is describing. If you are within 240r of an enemy it appears to bounce a 5th time, giving you 1 more stack of regen for 9s total.

In its description it says 4 bounces, which means it hits 5 times. I tested it on golems and it hit 5 times. However the skill does have a bug.

When I hit a golem with it standing next to the golem it hits 3 times and gives me 9s of regen (3 hits of regen). But when I pull back a bit it hits the golem 3 times and gives me 6s of regen (2 hits). So something about the skill gives you 1 more stack of regen if you are near melee range of the enemy you’re using it against. You have to be within ~240 radius of the enemy for it to give the extra stack.

We don’t really have burst damage that can compare with that, but you can certainly use skills like corrupt boon and epidemic to turn group fights on your side. It helps a TON with epidemic if all players are targeting the same person, so get your groups organized.

I’ve seen bigger damage in WvW also, an ele in my guild showed me a video where he’s effectively doing 25k damage a second with meteor shower (since the meteors hit 5 players at once and there are multiple ones raining down from the sky). And he was able to cast 2 back to back.

Passives for Death Magic

in Necromancer

Posted by: chuiu.4985

chuiu.4985

What’s the point of toughness and condition duration? I mean if we’re going to pick and choose let’s pick what would sync the best:

Condition damage + Condition Duration
Toughness + Vitality
Healing + Boon Duration
Precision + Crit Damage
Power + Life Force Pool….meh can’t be perfect >.>

Its not necessarily about picking and choosing the best combination, its about making choices. Spite and DM are both lines that don’t directly help condition damage so making either of them have condition duration makes you make a choice between going down one line or the other. The problem with the way its setup right now is everyone elses ‘toughness’ line makes sense with what its paired up with.

Warrior, Engineer, Thief gets toughness/healing
Guardian, Ranger gets toughness/crit dmg
Elementalist gets toughness/condition damage
Mesmer, Necromancer gets toughness/boon duration

It makes little sense for necromancers to have boon duration there when they have the least amount of boons they can apply of every class (except maybe thief and ranger?). But it does make sense to have boons on SR because of all the traits that grant you boons when you enter DS (fury, retal, stability).

So even when you make these choices, you are still benefiting no matter what. But a condition necromancer, who benefits from having toughness, cannot benefit from the DM line because of its traits.

Passives for Death Magic

in Necromancer

Posted by: chuiu.4985

chuiu.4985

I feel like any minor trait in the game should not directly depend on what skills you are bringing. Since I’m not a MM, but still benefit from high toughness, anything minion related in that tree is completely useless to me, especially the two 30 pt ones. I feel like the minors from the toughness tree should mirror some other classes more:

5- Demonic Flesh: Gain 30 toughness for each condition on you.
15- Insidious Parasite: When your life is below 50% you life siphon foes who attack you.

And I feel like the base attributes on the trees need to be reworked:

Spite: Power and Crit Dmg
Death Magic: Toughness and Condition Duration
Soul Reaping: Boon Duration and Life Force Pool.

It breaks their mold of pairing power with condition duration, but I always feel like the two never go hand-in-hand with Necromancers compared to other classes.

I’m not saying the 5% of toughness applied to power is strong; I am saying that it is the most useful because it would apply to all builds, not just MM. The other two passives only are useful when your build is MM.

I feel like 5% toughness applied to power ONLY applies to MM. If I had a power heavy non-MM build I wouldn’t even want to touch the toughness line because I would be going down Spite, Curse, Blood, and SR instead. But if I was full MM, I would be stacking power and going down Spite and DM while using Axe/Focus to support minion damage on top of mine with Dagger/Warhorn or Staff on swap.

Whoever says deathly swarm only transfers one condition go to an empty spvp game and bring an engi let him stack 3 conditions then use 4 it’s transfers 3 conditions. I know this for a fact

I use this skill like 100 times a day, and because you have some doubts I did some additional testing.

Using deathly swarm on one target:
3 conditions will go to the one target. You will lose only 1 of those conditions.

Using deathly swarm on two targets:
3 conditions will go to the first target, you lose one. 2 conditions will go to the second target, you will lose one. The last condition will stack on the first target, and you will lose the third one.

Using deathly swarm on three targets:
3 conditions will go to the first target, you lose one. 2 conditions will go to the second target, you will lose one. The last condition will go to the third target and you will lose the third one.

So I was partially wrong about how it worked, but its still bugged. I also only had 3 conditions to test with. My theory is that it will transfer 3 conditions per hit/bounce, but you will only lose 1 condition per hit/bounce no matter how many you have. So since it hits 4 different enemies, it should make you lose 4 different conditions.

The reason I was convinced it was 1 condition per bounce is because I do a lot of dungeon running where I’m fighting 1-3 targets at a time, most often 1. And transferring some conditions I have only gets noticed for ones that have a stack number – so bleeding is mainly what I pay attention to. Not being able to see the other 2 conditions stacking in duration easily led me to believe it was only transferring the 1 stack of bleeding I had on me.

Anyway, the skill is still bugged. But it only hurts us in situations where we’re going up against one enemy at a time. Its overly powerful in groups of 2 or more enemies.

Yeah, I know plenty of people who ‘have’ a necromancer. But very few that actually play it. We have a small handful of active necros in our guild of 200+.

I think what the OP is trying to say, is anytime someone says necros need a buff every other person they talk to will say something like “omg no you guys get 2 health bars blah blah blah”, and we end up getting pinned as a class that’s just fine because of our death shroud mechanic.

Rabid: Condition Damage, precision, toughness
Chrysocola + Coral

Shaman: Vitality, healing power, condition damage
Chrysocola + Sapphire

Knight: Power, precision, vitality
Ruby + Sapphire

Celestial: power, precision, condition damage, toughness, vitality, healing
Beryl, Sapphire, Chrysocola, Coral, Emerald

These combinations will help raise demand for gems that are currently selling for vendor price also and make them worth more while helping players diversify their equipment more allowing for more flexibility.

We have the fewest combos and combo fields out of every class out there (when you add them up). I’ve made many suggestions over the past few months about how certain skills can be finishers. Here is a list again:

Life Blast – Projectile
Dark Path – Leap
Enfeebling Blood – Blast
Feast of Corruption – Blast
Unholy Feast – Blast
Spectral Grasp needs to be 100% and move faster
Reapers Touch – Projectile 25% chance
Spectral Grasp – Projectile 25% chance and move faster
Spectral Walk – Leap finisher on teleport
Lich Form #1 – Projectile 50%
Bone Fiend Activate Ability – Projectile 100%
Shadow Fiend Activate Ability – Leap
Blood Fiend auto-attack – Projectile 50%
Epidemic – Blast

Its just a few ideas. The only one I would say shouldn’t be done is Epidemic. Its already an extremely powerful skill and doesn’t need anymore added to it. But the fact it makes an explosion effect makes it fit the ‘blast’ finisher category.

It doesn’t make sense to me that, in the middle of LA, the recipes for all the legendary weapons are all soulbound to my character upon purchase. Since they weren’t labeled I mistakingly bought one thinking I could throw it in the bank and give it to my alt. But since they are soul bound I cannot.

I could have just as easily given my alt the 10g and bought it on him if I would have known about this before hand. So it makes more sense to have them account bound instead of soul bound just like the crafted items are.

Gear definitely matters in WvW, but you can get a full set of lvl80 Masterwork/Rare gear for really cheap on the TP. Obviously you won’t be as a strong as someone in full exotic gear, but you will still be very effective.

There is a huge stat difference between rare and exotic gear, compare them side by side and add up the differences.

13% or were you trying to start something ?

And you’re saying 13% doesn’t matter? That’s 13% more damage, 13% more health, 13% more armor. Adds up to almost a 40% total difference. And if you aren’t bringing armor or health it adds up to even higher differences in damage due to higher crit and/or crit damage, which matters a lot.

chuiu.4985

So over a week ago I bought the 10g recipe for Liquid Flame to give to an alt so that I could learn the materials required for it to work on my legendary. Now I did this on my main because he holds 99% of my gold at any given time. So I was quite surprised when I found out the recipe is actually soulbound. It does not say on the vendor whether it is soul bound or account bound (much like karma recipes didn’t say until recently). Instead of having to spend 80s to respec to chef and back again and do that again when I need to craft it, I decided to open a ticket to see if there was something support could do for me.

“If you mistakenly purchased an item that you did not wish to purchase, we are unable to remove and/or refund that item for you. This applies to items bought with any form of in-game currency, including coin (copper, silver, gold), karma, and gems. "

Now the problem here isn’t that this was my mistake. It was Arenanets. They haven’t properly labeled these recipes as ‘soulbound’ like they label everything else in the game.

So instead of making these recipes you buy with gold in the middle of LA, the easiest place in the game to get to soul bound. Why not make them not bound at all? Or at the most account bound? If I would have known they were soul bound I would have sent the 10g to my alt and had him buy it.

It just doesn’t make sense for me that you would prevent someone from doing anything with these recipes on any character other than the one purchased.

1. If its soul bound I can just send the money to an alt.
2. If its account bound and I want to help a friend get it I can just send him the raw gold.
3. There is no possible exploit involved with this.

Please make these recipes unbound to my character and account. Or if you do for some reason keep them soul bound or make them account bound at least label them properly on the vendor so more people don’t make this mistake.

You can still hop from overflow to overflow to mine tons of copper. Nothing has really been ‘changed’.

I wouldn’t say spending hours of my time mining orichalcum is overly abusing anything. I can only really make around 2g an hour doing it, which is only marginally better than dungeon runs which make around 1.5g an hour.

And as you can see from orichalcum ore prices staying roughly the same:

http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19701

The market isn’t getting ‘flooded’ by it by any means.

However, this is a textbook expoit; using the system in a way that wasn’t intended in order to gain a financial advantage. It may not be as simple as the Karma bug was, but it’s still unintended.

Its no different from going from overflow server to overflow server. Many people were and still are doing this in highly populated zones.

As you know mining orichalcum is probably one of the best ways to make money in the game because you can make 12s a node and hit every node on your server within 30-40m depending on their locations and the mobs that spawn. So around the second day the game was released I had the idea to transfer to other servers and mine orichalcum nodes to help make money. Back then the TP wasn’t up though, and many people in my guild said a few common misconceptions about the practice. Stuff like “nodes wont respawn for you in other servers”, “you will be locked out of WvW for 24h”, “you won’t be able to transfer again for 24h”. Of course none of this is true.

So I waited a bit and then finally did it once as a ‘proof of concept’ and decided not to continue. I felt like it was a bit too easy, it could be considered an exploit. I was going to report it the next day (it was late and I was going to sleep), but when I woke up someone linked me to this thread:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/server-transfers/first#post77112
ReginaBuenaobra, North American Community Team Lead
It’s not an exploit as stated, but given some of the changes that the designers made, changing servers to get to resource node is actually going to be way less efficient and much more time-consuming than just running to the next one or going to a new map to gather resources there. Any efficiencies you may find are random chance.

I instantly felt relieved that what I did wasn’t considered an exploit. So I went about taking advantage of this and spent the next couple days organizing my mining operations. Twice a day I would hop servers and mine the nodes. Now I wake up today to find this thread:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Transfer-mining-exploiters-beginning-to-run-rampant/first#post123653
CC Eva, Community Coordinator
BLUcorp, thanks for notifying this and thanks for your concerns. Since you have already reported this there is not much to do right now. And you are not being ignored: it just may take a bit of time till the issue is looked into but we are aware of this.

Now I find I could be considered an exploiter? I sincerely hope if you guys are now considering this an exploit that you put in a 2h limiter to world transfers instead of banning us all. 2 hours between transfers works nicely because it allows people to transfer to other servers to play with their friends in dungeons since sometimes dungeons aren’t working cross realm or aren’t working in our realm for whatever reason. I know I was one of the many people hopping to other servers when dungeons weren’t working on our server for 2 days. It also stops any kind of profit one would make by server hopping a lot to mine nodes since it takes a few hours for them to respawn anyway.

I would obviously not be doing this if it was considered an exploit. And until further notice I won’t be doing it. Before you act, please consider your previous statement. I’m not here to complain about anything, I just want our name clear of any wrong doing.
