Upon completion of this quest chain the dwarf race will be available to that player for new alts.

Hi OP, check you graphics settings and see if you have “Best Texture Filtering” on. I had this on and it was causing a lot of crashes. I turned that off and instantly no more crashes. Win7 32 bit.

64bit Windows is a better long term option though because you get all the shinnies

Who from HoD was at the hour-long (literally) defense of bluevale in your bl just now? Omg. Most fun in a long time No guards left and 4v20(?)ish at the peak. I think we’re working on a video now with the Benny Hill theme song tied in.

I was on the Treb bombing you guys, didn’t see anyone but I got a lot of loot bags. Apparently a godlike XOXO ele was on the loose and being most frustrating, and a couple of mesmer … or several hundred, you can never tell with mesmers :/

funny thing, NSP and HoD are already complaining after half a week, when ET and FC sat through these zergballs for 3 whole months.
Show some backbone, guys, you are friggin T7 and get stomped by a little server which belongs in t8,

I think if you add DH to your calculations you might get a better idea of why so many QQ’s.

When DH was in T7 GOM and HOD got roflstomped (just like our fellow outmanned in T8), DH has huge coverage, just like SF. NSP was in T6 and enjoying being under strength. When DH moved up it got pretty interesting if T7, everyone actually had a chance to own SM sometime and for the first few weeks wining was shared.

So it’s not just SF coming along, it’s SF coming along “just after” DH moved along and made everything interesting.

A dingo ate my game balance!

Anyway for those who want to see the numbers http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA looks like two to three weeks for SF to move up, and due to the way the points work 6-8 for anyone in T8 to knock at the T7 door (AIUI the drop in GOMs rank will make gaining points harder after this week).

So the question is, when LoJ drops to T7 will they plummet, will they own, or will it be like when NSP arrived? Because if T7 is as close as it was with GOM, then T8 might be locked down for quite some time as gaining points relative to the T7 servers will be slow going.

For traits it’s simple, when you go to the vendor a quick look up at the on disk files and add some options for them to offer retraiting you.

e.g. I’d like to apply trait template <drop down list> $$$

Requires an option to save your current traits as a template.

And now to sell it to the bean counters …

Then of course there needs to be a BL item “Express Trait Trainer” which you can buy for gems! $$$$$$!

Last I checked HoD was the only medium sized server in this tier. I dont know if it changes through the late night/morning/day.

But unless I was on HoD i wouldnt expect to see any free transfers rolling in.

You don’t need to make things balanced, you need to make things fun. If a server has a lot more population, they will win, you need to deal with that. However ANet need to deal with making that reality fun in some way.

Out manned needs to be changed, it’s currently worthless to the side getting it and valuable information to their enemies.

Changes it so:
1: remove all current effects
2: enemy can not see it
3: break out commanders need 3/4/5 people not 10 to start
4: supplies do 2/3/4 times as much building per point
5: XP and Karma awards are .5/1/1.5 more than normal

This won’t really change the scores, but it will make out manned a lot less depressing, and perhaps even fun.

No extra badges because it’s not earned IMO.

No extra stats because the extra siege and break outs should be effective enough.

The numbers are variable because A: you’d need to test the changes to see where the sweet spot is, and B: it may be worth having different numbers depending on how out manned you are.

If you are the only person on a map for your server maybe you should be able to do a break out and build a ram or a arrow cart in one hit. Lone invader breaks out in green BL, lol!

BTW, be careful HoD, SF is slowly creeping up to take over.

Then again if we go to T8 I can get the POI’s and vistas in Green BL … I’m sure all of HOD will find that reward enough!

I really wish ANet would share the statistics on how many people login to wvw in each world at various times.

Mind you, when you get the out manned buff in your own BL you have a pretty good idea that right now it’s not a good time to chase that suspiciously alone engineer … It’s an NSP trap!

When you send a crash dump to Anet the last character active on your account should get one random damaged armor piece repaired, for free. This is to compensate people for when the game crashes and your character gets beat up :/

4 crashes today in wvw is frustrating enough, you can imagine it’s extra frustrating when you login after a crash, dead of course, with another piece of broken armor.

Hi Robert, please play some wvw with your ranger. After you have finished crying I will buy you a beverage of your choice to dull the pain of how quickly your pet died and how … errm … ineffective it was. I don’t mean to be rude, I really love the concept of this class but it really does perform poorly in wvw.

I don’t play PvP so I can’t comment … I look forward to offers to buy me a beverage of my choice.

For wvw…

I’d like a single shot “Protect Me” when your pet is at your side. It fits perfectly for the ranger meta and shouldn’t be OP. It should just happen, because that what my pet would do for me!

Pets should be able to detect stealthed players and give you their general direction. Note detect does not mean attack, nor does it mean pin point. Good old guard drake!

Pets without speed boost need to be faster than players without speed boost.

Animations are secondary to effectiveness. I don’t care if makes the animators cry to cut short their pretty animation so my pet actually works. Make the pets work and then worry about fixing any animation issues, and everyone here will take animation glitches for effectiveness every time.

Their needs to be a title for collecting all the pets! Only slightly OT

I like this bit ^. Allow rangers to give the pet armor with runes, and accessories with runes, it would make it possible to make them useful even in fractals then.

Whip out a flamethrower of grenade kit and stealth is completely useless. Heck, swing a great sword and hit once and you’ll never stop hitting, even if the hit was at the very edge of your strike.

Surely even with the damage ticker a half decent thief could simply dodge out of the way. Dodge + stealth is powerful.

Maybe allow the thief to use initiative for dodging once their stamina is empty.

Actually that would be awesome, ninja jump, ninja dodge, ninja dodge again, scamper, pew, pew, pew, ninja dodge.

That’s a neat idea, but really, imagine a situation where you’ve got damage numbers or some other locational hit indicator.

You lay down a series of necro wells, ping> thief location pinpointed for a hit. Ping> next hit.

After the first hit you have the option to dodge, sure, but you’ve only got two dodges, three with some investment in the acrobatics line.

Your other mobility skills are all mutually exclusive with dealing damage. No mobility utility does damage, and mobility based weapon skills cost initiative.

I believe everyone should know they hit something. However, I don’t believe it should be functionally impossible for a thief to walk through someone spamming 1 with a flamethrower. We commonly save those dodges specifically for dodging big attacks or to create distance, stealthed or not, and we don’t magically get more dodges when we stealth. We need them to fight, and a large part of stealth is having the ability to reposition without using them, or having a quick break from a fight to recharge the endurance we rely on a bit more than other classes to mitigate damage, as we have no real defensive boons and bottom tier HP.

Knowing you hit is the state of the game now, and as a thief I can tell the difference between, say, a warrior that knows how to stealth detect wih his chains and one that does not. The smart warrior will get that chain hit with his auto and immediately hit the area with a nice heavy attack or some CC. He’ll then immediately start sweeping the area in all directions to get another ping to see if his CC landed and stuck. He’s rewarded for ferreting out my general location, but he actually has to work to pinpoint my exact location. This makes stealth viable in that I can juke the guy a bit without wasting a dodge that I’ll need when stealth wears off to survive and actually fight the guy. At the same time, he can counter that juke by using wide AoE and cone swing mechanics, and force me to use it anyway.

A precise locational indicator would mean that literally every time you’re hit in stealth you MUST use a dodge. This means even the lowest damage AoE is completely off limits, which too greatly limits one of the primary uses of stealth as a positioning tool, and more importantly, makes stealth completely useless as a mid-fight positioning tool against all melee and heavy AoE sets.

You shouldn’t have to stare at your #1 skill to detect if you hit a stealther, and every class and spec should have the same ability as chain melee users do to reliably know “hey, I hit an invisible guy” so they can attempt the big hit or have a general idea where to drop AoE.

However, countering stealth shouldn’t be as easy as hitting once and then lasering the spot, and stealthers should have the option to risk running through low damage AoEs and taking that damage in stead of wasting endurance and abilities while under effects of stealth.

This sounds like a balance issue. If thieves used half as much energy to dodge they’d have twice as many dodges up their sleeve and they’d recover a dodge in half the time, and it would even fit the meta for the class.

The T8 servers have been hoping that we’d murder HoD and send them down to T8, forcing SF up to T7. Honestly, we need to try harder. SF deserves to move up. Let’s give them the chance, k?

SF deserves to be in Tier 7 and we don’t? -_- Don’t regret getting SF if they really do move up.

It’s really hard to gauge the size of SF. They’ve been scoring on T8 about at the same rate as DH had been in T7 (well, a bit bigger of a gap most weeks, but last week it was almost identical). By most accounts, FC and ET are much smaller than GoM and HoD though. If that’s the case, SF is probably comparable to GoM and HoD. But at the same, they could be more comparable in size to DH and NSP, or could be small enough that HoD/GoM could stomp them.

There’s a similar issue with IoJ/DR’s size in comparison to the T6 servers. Sure, the last matchup DR had with BP those servers scored at about the same rate, but that was a long time ago now, and both servers have likely seen shifts in their populations. They could just as easily be bigger than BP or smaller than NSP. The only way to find out is for the respective servers to move between tiers.

ANet could just tell us what the populations are and the average number of players in wvw per hour. If they don’t want to tell the actual numbers, and I could understand that, then they could give you the ratios of player in wvw between servers within a tier.

I think the ratios would be interesting.

Hey GOM, I know NSP out man you, but you out man us, so how about when you get to EB you go clock wise, we’ll go counter clock wise, and if/when we meet in the middle, it’s on?

I think that’s a fair way to handle the population imbalance. In BL’s it’s all on, in EB we start in different directions, but besides that, it’s on. I can’t see this stopping NSP from winning, but it just may make it a little bit more fun for everyone, even NSP.

I have no way of influencing other HOD’ites, but I’m sure this little concession for the numbers could be viable.

I have no idea why people camp JPs, my Norn falls off anyway :/ In fact while I have no problem with people camping JPs in general, I think Norns should get a free pass, they are already suffering for $deities sake!

World vs world should be a FOUR SERVER MATCH UP.

THIS! Trivial to implement with a small change to the current BL map.

You end up with 6 Tiers of 4 teams.

+ at the end of the run the lowest ranked team is demoted, and the highest rated team is promoted, regardless of their scores relative to the tiers above/below.

Yes, just like divisions in football, duh.

+ if you are the highest ranked team in Tier 1 & your participated in W4Wyou get one point in the title Champion of Champions and a well spec’ed amulet.

+ if you are the bottom team in Tier 6 and you participated in W4W you get the title Wooden Spooner, yes the whole tile, + a profession appropriate skin to make a one handed weapon look like a wooden spoon.

++ for extra credit you should be able to ally with another world, which allows you to enter their keeps and heal them, etc, but still doesn’t allow you to chat (mwahahahahaha) because all is fair in love and W4W. However if one of the teams is leading the Tier then the other team should be able to break the truce “just a little bit” without breaking the treaty (again mwahahahahaha).

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

No, these people are professionals, they’re more subtle than that.

Gear Grind is when you have to change your armor every 3 months. If you introduce a spurious concept with a number, and you make a way to increased that number on an existing piece, and change that minimum number required every 3 months, then it’s clearly not a gear grind, it’s a progression grind.

The Genius is in the abstraction of the rating requirement and the armor set itself. You get to have what amounts to gear grind, but you get to say it’s different and you didn’t break your word, since nobody needs a new set of armor … after the first new set that is.

Of course the dumb bit is that “after the first new set”, a special quest to get your current armor to the infusable state would have been a lot less of a PR disaster … and easy to develop … and probably fun to acquire too!

Close but not quite. You will need a new set every time they release a new Infusion dungeon as the Infusions will be different. So you are still grinding gear every content release. Not to mention you have to save your gear for the old content if you want to still do it sometimes.

I haven’t seen any indication there will be other types of effects similar to Agony.

And while if I were picking my disaster I would rather there be no Ascended items and we could quest to get our infusion slot on our exotics, it’s still a disaster of a paradigm shift from the major reason that GW was great and many new players bought into GW2.

Yeah it would make a lot more sense, that way if they did have an Agony clone you could get one set of armor with infusions for each kind of effect.

ohhh now a really good way for them to have done this would have been to open that gate outside Ebon Hawk and make you go in to the Crystal Desert and ascend, al.la GW1 … but with a dragon in the way

Hum , i can understand where your request comes from. But there is also the problem which is , people that already got full dungeon armor will simple be converted to full Ascension gear , which then would make the whole point of adding the gear , the progression , disappear.

Ascension gear isn’t the progression, Infusions are. Progression will be getting better and better Infusions.

You could easily have a quest chain or some other method of modifying existing gear to hold infusions and you get to keep the worth of all the current armors and the progression Infusion allows.

I’d like to respond to concerns players have raised about ascended items. Please keep in mind that we’re releasing this as one portion of a massive November update that introduces and improves many aspects of challenge, progression, and rewards. With this and upcoming updates, we view ourselves as introducing large amounts of content with supporting systems and features, akin to an expansion pack, building on Guild Wars 2 through a series of live releases. So it’s important for us to be able to add an expansion pack’s worth of progression and rewards to support that content.

Our goal is not to create a gear treadmill. Our goal is to ensure we have a proper progression for players from exotic up to legendary without a massive jump in reward between the two. We will slowly add the remaining ascended gear items and legendary items in future updates to allow people time to acquire them as we add exciting new content that deserves exciting rewards. We will not be adding a new tier of gear every 3 months that we expect everyone to chase after and then get the next set and so on.

Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content. PvP will remain unaffected to ensure our intended PvP balance going forward. We are also working on other reward and progression systems for the game that tie into current and new content and features. As you know we care very much about your support and opinion and are listening intently to what you say.

Finally we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the upcoming content, and we will ensure we share our thoughts with you on the experiences we share in the Lost Shores.

Since the general theme here seems to be “give the downed player a real second chance”, maybe when trying to finish a downed player stealth/mist form/etc is dropped for the target of Finish Them! only.

So the downed player gets to target the finisher and try their downed skills on them, but they can’t announce them as a target and no one else can see/target the finisher any differently.
