I have a unique, never before tried, idea!
Hard Mode.
You keep your exploration but the zones are harder and you can redo hard versions of all the hearts, hard versions of the dungeons in that zone, and just like GW1 (well almost never tried before) you can switch it on or off depending on how you feel at the time.
Before HoT this would have been unbalanced, but given how HoT has affected the value of Core skill points and rewards it shouldn’t be too bad.
Hard mode Shatterer O_O … maybe not!
This is basic profit maximization.
Introduce a new shiny at a high price, everyone who will pay that price pays it. When sales drop off, discount it a bit, everyone who will pay the new price buys it. Continue until new shiny is delivered.
I’ll buy mine on sale.
What the kitten, is slot 5 toilet paper?!? No one told me we had access to toilet paper!
So would I have to pay my workers more because they are in a Norn home instance which is huge? You could yell in one corner and not be heard in another, let alone 3 or 4 floors up. The Norn Home is a convention hall.
If you fart in the Human home instance everyone smells it.
Yes you will, but don’t fret! There will be a brewery option in gem store, 3752 gems, and you pay Norns in ale, so you will be able to eventually generate their pay yourself!
Also make it possible to tie balloons to monsters to extract them and recruit them as your staff.
To be honest, I think your idea is pretty good, I never can be bothered to enter my home instance everyday. But adding more incentive to go there might be a better solution.
A ZOO for your home instance, only 4500 Gems. LIMITED time only!
Of course once you buy the zoo you still need to go an capture the animals!
I LOVE IT. Gotta catch ’em all!!!
The Guild Hall Zoo will of course be much larger and hold bigger things you need to capture in the new Guild-emon Guild Missions!

You could do this like the guild hall upgrades, hire a miner, a lumberer, etc, for a some materials, maybe a mastery/skill line for how many staff you can manage, … plenty of room to make this a fun thing for people to do.
May as well chuck in a butler, maid, chef, and bouncer while you are at it
How about a Silvari dancing troupe for your home instance? Limited time, 952* Gems in the store!
Don’t forget next years Winter’s Day bonus, and don’t be a Grinch about it!
- Price may be subject to variation! :P
Hearts only have a value once, quests only have a value once, both are really useful for leveling, they serve the same role even though the mechanics differ.
Same can be said for crafting, doing vistas, jumping puzzles etc.. doesnt mean they’re comparable
and no they dont serve the same role, like I already stated hearts are only meant to direct you to the source of the real content which is dynamic events.
I’d find Gw2 the most boring MMO ever if leveling up meant just doing hearts.. they’re still better then generic quests sure for at least they offer multiple options how to complete them but they also serverly lack story while Dynamic events dont.
If I wanted to compare the best Gw2 has to offer with the best any other game has, using hearts as a bases is in my opinion disingenuous.
It’s only disingenuous if I don’t believe what I’m saying, not because you disagree with me about it.
I used hearts for leveling in GW2 and I use quests in ESO for the same, they are both very good XP and very useful for leveling. Yes there are other ways to level and other things to do. For this quests have been more fun for me.
Hi, I bought ESO fairly recently, my first non A-Net MMO, I have a high end system and it is absolutely gorgeous! I haven’t tried the PvP yet, but the PvE is really good and I like the combat system.
I’ve found the ESO quests more enjoyable that heart quests so far, but I’ve not gotten that far in to the story lines as I like to wonder around and play on different toons.
What I find really great about ESO is the UI mod’s you can get for it, they really allow you to customise the UI and see things how you want. If A-Net was going to take anything out of ESO it should be this, their default UI is on par with the GW2 UI, but with community mods it creams the GW2 UI, because each player can get the exact experience they want, regardless of how different their tastes are.
I’ve been logging in to GW2 regularly to get the daily rewards, just in case I need stuff for HOT, guess I’ll continue to do that but I won’t pre-order HOT because to me it’s questionable value. I’ll wait until after release and wait to see is there is more \o/ than qq … no reason I can’t play 2 MMOs :P
Amway, I bought ESO and haven’t had buyers remorse yet, so guess that’s a +1 from me
Your Gw2 account is 2 years old and you’re comparing Questing with Hearts?
Surely you know Hearts arent Questing in Gw2, they never even were meant to be in Gw2 and but were added as markers for players based on testers feedback, to direct them in the general area of Dynamic events and give them something to do while they wait for dynamic events which are the real questing meat so to speak!

Unless the “new ally” is a playable race!
Clearly there will be a dungeon to kill Mordremoth in, the last quest before that Trahearne becomes evil and you have to kill him, masses of players rejoice and forgive the Zahtan ending.
Public Relations coup!
GMs aren’t a solution to wide spread practices, at least not an immediate one, you don’t need to ban people doing this (banning has legal implications and won’t be done rashly so it won’t be widely felt quickly), you need to make what these people are doing less effective.
Working around blue prints being dropped on top of other BPs is trivial. They already know who dropped it, just display their name, and add an option to ignore BPs from this user. Simple mechanism, easy to implement and use, and makes this tactic much less effective in a very short time. You will need a dialog to display whose siege you have ignored so you can remove people from the list if you gaff.
Not only does this mean you can ignore “trolls” it means you can ignore people who just need a clue stick applied
Siege cap is another story, anything you can do will require balance and will be game breaking if you don’t do it right, so KISS should be the motto for this.
I think recycling is the least problematic solution, so
1: A player should be able to recycle their own siege.
2: A commander should be able to recycle siege for anyone in their squad.
3: The greater of 5 or 1/10th of the people on a team, on a map, should be able to recycle any siege on the map (so if there are 80 people on a map you need 8 people, but 50 or less requires 5 people). If >10% of the people on a map are trolling you have a bigger problem than a game mechanic can fix.
Recycling means the siege is destroyed and in a building supply is returned to the building, in open field supply is returned to the recycler, the amount should start out low and should be affected by one of the WvW skills.
This won’t be as effective as the other change, but it’s that way because it shouldn’t be powerful enough to break the game if the balance is wrong.
As there’s currently only 12 hours left for this sale, could someone run down the benefits — if any — of buying GW1 strictly to unlock benefits within GW2 (such as the Hall of Monuments)?
And do you need Eye of the North in order to access the hall (and thus, earn achievements) from within GW1?
Rationale – I would buy GW1 (and perhaps EotN) if it gave me access to specific items or achievements within GW2, but I’m not looking for another game to sink thousands of hours into.
Thanks for your insight.
The only real benefit is the 500 achievement points you can get.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hall_of_Monuments_%28achievements%29
The rest is skins, only a couple of good ones, most are worse than what you can pick up running around GW2, and what effectively amounts to 4 pet skins.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Please-merge-the-servers/first#post4344432
Don’t merge the servers, and please merge the servers….hmmmm I don’t know what to do!?!?!
Well, since RNG is a favorite tool here abouts, merge a random number of servers!
I would buy it! But it won’t happen because it’s not tied to the shop.
It’s more likely to happen as a living story prequel type of thing so that skins and such can be sold in the shop.
I just bought a spare character slot, number 9, on special, just in case there is a new class sometime … don’t waste my investment!
Nice try (-:
Chris
So … two new classes then! :P

New mystic forge recipe:
3 queen jenna minis + 3 ectos + 3 clovers = random precursor
1 recipe, 2 problems solved!
The 1st birthday gifts were very underwhelming. I ended up with 9 Queen Jennahs etc. What were they thinking? After the good feedback from GW1 where you got a chance of many different minis, why did they change this?
I hope they will alter the rewards this time around.
I see your 9 and raise you 12 more. Maybe they’ll introduce a command where we can get them all out and they can do the can-can or something.
The least they could do is make a mystic forge recipe or two …
one clover + one ecto + one queen jenna mini + one stack of dust = a random pair of pants
… hopefully the devs are more imaginative though

1. Randomize destination when using portal, 0-35% of distance ported, any direction.
2. Make players push friendly players away (like opposite pole magnets).
3. Add 1.5% chance to die when entering stealth.
4. Rename Ranger class to Nigel (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Nigel_no_friends).
5. Add 1.5% to die in a devastating explosion (that injures everyone in radius, friend and foe) when using flame thrower , meteor storm, etc.
6. Add 1.5% chance of getting “hit thumb” condition when using hammer. Immobilized 2 seconds, appropriate animation of holding thumb and *%^&(^$!
7. Add 1.5% chance that at the start of a week that the WvW hosting for a server will be on the US/EU server of the same position. i.e. all Blackgate (US 1) people would get to WvW on Seafarer’s Rest (EU 1) for a week. For EU >= 24 add a random chance to swap with the lowest 3|4 US servers.
8. Add 1.5% chance that will happen to anyone when they login to WvW on any given day.
9. Add 50% to ranges for all Nigel (see #4) skills.
Oh man the Brothers Cry and GoM are still at it. HoD was never once rank 15 and wasnt a candidate for silver unless NSP tanked in their rigged match which they didnt.
I see you come in here and try and use your logic and rationale thought to confuse and perplex people, but you are wrong! Yes, wrong!
http://mos.millenium.org/servers/history/28
17-24 November HoD was rank 14 … FOURTEEN!
The record doesn’t lie, and you sir, are wrong. Flat. Out. Wrong!
and HoD I have no idea what happened.
Look above HoD and you will see NSP and IoJ.
Last time HoD beat NSP was Week 13, back in April.
Last time HoD beat IoJ was in July, NSP won that match, HoD was second. Look at the two matches in September, IoJ beat HoD by150K and 220K.
If Kaineng hadn’t imploded NSP would have won Bronze, most likely undefeated.
After watching this, I’m kinda curious what a 156 omega golem zerg vs zerg vs zerg battle would look like lol. Each server makes the cap of 52 omegas and meets out on the battle field lol
This would be awesome!
Anet should make it possible to trigger stuff like that as an “event”
Yes, this would be awesome! Maybe even reduce supply required for such events.
Amateurs (joke ofcourse, nicely done :p )
I am making 700 omegas this week alone, I already made around 250 this match up. Previous week we did a 50 Omega rush aswel, but I am not allowed anymore to make 50 at the same time, because rams share the cap and the commander had to take down gates with ballistas and catas :p.
Anyway, we have 30-40 omegas in EB at all times pretty much. 15-20 omegas each rush seemed to be working out the best.
Nice preview we made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNaowxJyVhU
700 in one week … that’s a serious addiction

I’m sorry, BG did it first, with 57 golems
Nice!
I think the most surprising things about FC doing it are they are a mid tier bronze server doing this against the biggest bronze server, and they kept their G-Zerg (as I have coined it) so well coordinated and tightly packed.
52 Golems is never enough, but it is apparently the cap. IMO FC should get a reward for best event of season 1!
Kudos to the people who organized that.

How to fix the WvW problem:
1. Create new server names or team names specifically for WvW. Current server names stay the same, and WvW still is open for them.
2. Allocate X amount of spots for each server for people to sign up to represent. When spots are full, they close that server of sign-ups. A time-limit listed until sign ups are closed altogether and servers are made live. Charge a fee to sign up on these servers initially.
3. Repeat until all players are allocated among the servers. Servers that aren’t full, the player base is distributed with the other servers.
4. Launch.
5. Population problems fixed.
Be sure to separate servers depending on geographical locations. European, Asian, and NA. NA IP’s cannot sign up for an Asian server; so on so forth.
Prime-times will be consistent, and coverage gaps will be minimized as well as population differences.
It will be up to each team to coordinate and organize against the others.
1: Can you provide a link to where anyone from ANet has ever said that they consider the population balance to be an issue?
[cut for space]Here’s a link of DevonCarver sort of talking about population imbalance and its effects. Basically, the whole thread is about population balance…
Devon’s comments don’t say that population balance is an issue. He says momentum might be a problem. He even asks why people think the score is coupled to population.
Considering ways to decouple score from population makes it pretty clear to me that re-balancing population isn’t on the to do list.
Edit: typo

The current map limit only exist because of resource constraints, if they could run maps with higher caps, or without caps at all, they would. Imagine how the population imbalance would affect that scenario.
A-Net won’t do any of this stuff because they want WvW to be as big as possible and they’ll address capacity issues and won’t consider smaller worlds.
2: As noted, the hateful people will hate on people and cause friction, and A-Net probably do not want that.
3: This would be a lot better phrased in a GvG context.
Say arenas that guilds/parties can hire out that are inside WvW and count towards your WvW score. Limited places as agreed during hiring, not accessible until another team joins.
If you want the cheap version they don’t even need to do any maps, they can just cordon off the shrines. Open world until two guilds have hired them, and then a pop-up fence and you have your balanced GvG fight with no roamers popping in and WvW objectives built in.
Vote 1, too much coffee weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Currently Experience Scroll are pretty useless for most of the people who got them. e.g. I have 8 slots and 7 scrolls sitting in my bank No, I don;t delete my alts if the last a year, even if they didn’t get played enough to get to level 20
Anyone of these ideas would make them useful to me, and possibly many others!
1: In addition to the current the behavior they could grant 1 level if the toon is over level 20.
2: A Mystic Forge recipe to transform them from their current behavior to +X level/s. Where X is RNG, or based on the other components used in the recipe, or a combination of both.
3: Not account bound, so you can sell them.
4: In addition to the current the behavior they could grant 1 skill point if the toon is over level 20.
5: Trade it to an NPC for a random booster or dye.
6: <your suggestion goes here>
Hey, what would happen to all those predictions if SF got pushed to third this week? Just curious
When you bang on a door your damage is tracked, when you do the required damage you are placed in a queue, and when the door goes down it goes through the queue and awards credit. Unfortunately someone used the queue code from map wait so you get randomly selected from the queue. That’s just how queues work.
In case anyone is interested, the first time this was officially acknowledged was EIGHT MONTHS ago, by Mike Ferguson in a website interview. Here’s the snippet …
Queues do indeed behave in a strange manner. Unfortunately, I don’t have any more news about that as it does boil down to resources. It’s a fixable problem, but we need some time from a very specialized type of programmer for that job and they’re all currently busy with other tasks.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/196tgh/jeuxonlineinfo_made_an_interview_with_mike/
“we need some time from a very specialized type of programmer” … Seriously?
For each map, have a list for each server, with the current players on that map. Have a matching queue for each server for players from that server wanting to get in to that map. When a player leaves a map, remove them from the servers list, move the first player from the queue for that server to the list for that server.
It’s simple code, an intern can do it.
If there is supposed to be something magical in the current approach then disable it until one of the “special programmers” has time to fix it, because having broken magic is a lot worse than having a basic feature that is reliable if boring.
You on the other hand, have been steadily staying in the same place you have always been when in a match up with us.
Not first.

We all know that wining is related to population size. The measure of effectiveness is the change in rating. How many times did HoD have a better rating outcome than NSP? Looks to be … 7/9?

Well a few people from BP have been on here saying we should learn like they did, maybe they can help out a guy from a T8 server and share some tricks?
I would like to learn where to place AC’s outside the north inner gate of Hills to be able to hit like this. I have other pics taken before this where the AC’s followed me back all the way from the supply near the gate.
The circles tracked me back all the way from they supply which is a pretty huge field of fire.
Place an AC next to the gate and you can use it to AoE everything inside.
)^&)%(&$%%!!! kitten obvious too!
Thanks.

Hi Devon, I hope you read this.
The flaw in this new system is that the movement of all servers, high and low, tends toward the median. This is incorrectly saying that ET is getting closer in capability to SoR every week, which is clearly not a true statement.
(No offence to ET meant, I just picked #1 and #24, they same would be true for HoD #22 V JQ #3).
You have not explained how this trend towards the median will be useful in the long run, how will it actually be useful when SoR, ET, and everyone in between are all closer to the median?
It seems to me that a trend towards the median will mean that every week it will become more and more likely for weaker servers to face stronger servers.
Serious question, because I remember we talked about it a lot in our last matchup with HoD, and now it is the discussion of the day again in VoIP…
To you people on HoD, does it seem like you have an inordinate amount of Rangers? Like I said we have noticed this both matchups, I have never seen so many Rangers on any server.
Not saying it like a bad thing, and definitely not trolling ya, just wondering what was the catalyst for so many of them? Do you guys have a couple of epic ones that made others create them?
Again not trolling, they are very effective.
Not me in that, but we all try to be this good. We can only try though, since none of us are the best player in the game.
Also my horse is still larger than yours my intellectual friend.
Yeah, except that not his horse, that’s all him O_O
If arena net is going to keep this randomized matchup system, they need to consolidate HoD + FC + ET into one server.
This new randomized system is great for high/mid tiers, but it kittens low tiers.
Oh haha yes I can see it now… The trolling levels would go over 9000, imagine if they did that for NSP and HoD, PAXA and Os on the same server…. That would be chaos
Didn’t Paxa transferred from NSP to HOD when NSP hit tier 7?
Shout out to ET peeps we fought at Godsword yesterday, it was nice to see some non-green players Also nice to see some people not go straight for the up levelled guardian too
There needs to be separate “piles”, where players cannot take supply marked for upgrading towers/keeps.
It was suggested more than a year ago in beta that claiming guilds be able to control supply – even shutting it off completely. Completely ignored then, and still being ignored now.
This would only make sense if it was limited to when the guild had buffs up.
You wouldn’t even need that if they did the obvious thing and let people drop off supplies. You balance that by having Dolyaks use the same supply as players, take lots of supply , no Dolyak shipments. Dolyak loads up, supply drops.
Introducing the new High Definition 1080P Arrowcartage!
wow
Well … to change the subject to a less emotive one, anyone played with the AC’s post patch? Verdict?
Also, we need an avatar/representation for HoD. Hm. Hard to match GoM’s Gollum/aliens dude, but their name was easy. Hedge of Denravi/Hod is trickier. Hodor? http://i.imgur.com/1w8dY.jpg
Not as funny, but he’s got Hod in the name & might be easier to find screenshots: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Hodgins_
Maybe select the theme song and the avatar picks itself?
