Sometimes I don’t know if you don’t understand posts or you’re willfully ignoring the content.
You have never, in any thread I’ve seen, given us any idea as to what other programs are running at the time you play the game, what drivers you have on the system, your exact hardware configuration, or any other actual useful information, despite being repeatedly asked for it.
You’re much happier just posting about stuff that doesn’t help anyone who is (or was) offering you help so you have a bit of a whinge.
I run no program at all. The recommended drivers;
p67-c45
650w
gtx 680 SC edition
i5 2500 4.2
and I get very respectful benchmarks in Haven, which proves that my system isn’t faulty.
Will you stop trolling?
How many times are you going to post drivel that isn’t remotely useful to troubleshooting in any way?
The Haven benchmark has nothing to do with GW2, and therefore it will not show any relation between your system settings and GW2 performance.
What are your magical Haven scores, anyway? I notice that you’ve neglected to upload them.
Why would I? I compared it to others with the same GPU and I even got 2-3 more fps because of my overclocked processor. I have nothing to prove. The haven benchmark has much to do with a system, it shows how many FPS you get and the benchmark is visually the same for everyone with the same settings, therefore its easier to compare computer performance, and OBVIOUSLY there’s nothing wrong with it.
Wanted to tell devs that they should stop blaming it on us. I just did the heaven benchmark and I got more FPS than most with my gtx 680 SC edition. That really proves that nothing is wrong here, and that it lays on this game, the problems. I just wanted to share this with you so you don’t go around thinking that its our computers. Bye!

I got issues with i5 2500 4.2 and gtx 680. You are not alone.
The OP has been whinging for ages. In every thread, he posts no useful information, even when told specifically what to provide.
He is unwilling to check anything on his own system for the cause of the problem, and has provided no useful information to the developers.
He’s a troll, basically.
I’m not a troll.. no i am not willing to check my own system ..your logic sucks man.
Enough said, really. Either cooperate or stop complaining.
I just did cooperate. I told you what I’ve done to check if its at my end… You need to read.

He’s a troll, basically.
I’m not a troll.. I give you information about my performance in other games which makes it impossible that this is at my end, because one single game performs bad for me. i run bf3 maxed out at 60-100 fps and i said 600 just to give you the point. and no i am not willing to check my own system since i already have compared benchmarks, done several tests, uininstalled windows 7 and installed it again, done everything and that comes to one explanation, the game itself. your logic sucks man.
The OP didn’t even give a proper description of his problem. Lag could mean anything from hardware lag (low fps / stuttering) to connection lag (high ping, rubberbanding, etc) and he didn’t mention when and where it occurs.
Assuming it’s hardware lag he is talking about, then I don’t know what the issue is, unless he’s specifically talking about the known performance issues in giant WvWvW and DE battles, or specific areas within the cities, where the game engine seems to choke on itself regardless of graphics settings, specs or overclocks…
Outside of those situations the game should be running really well on his specs, unless he’s running some really high resolution with Supersampling turned on, or he has Reflections set to max (which some people have found may cause stuttering for no apparent reason) or there’s something else going on like his GPU downclocking to 2d levels when it shouldn’t be.
As an example I run this game @ 1680×1050 with the specs in my sig – my settings are on full, except for FXAA / Depth Blur off (because I don’t like their effect) and Reflections set to Terrain & Sky (becuase of the aforementioned stutter issue when using “All”). With Supersampling on, I get between 70-120 fps most of the time. There are only a few areas in the game, usually with a lot of fog and/or heavy shadow and lighting effects, where the GPU has to work so hard that it only manages around 50-60fps. Without Supersampling the fps is between 100-200fps depending on whatever the CPU can keep up with. Even though I’m running at sub-1080p I think these FPS values are perfectly acceptable – Supersampling was never meant to be used lightly (there is a reason they recommend it only with beastly GPU’s) and without it seems like a GTX680 should have no problem pushing high-digit FPS even at 1920×1080 or 1900×1200.
The bottomline is that the game by itself is not broken when it comes to performance. Yes, there ARE areas where improvement is needed, like in big battles and cities – I fully support the drive to try and get those issues sorted out – but the rest of the game is more than capable of taking advantage of high end hardware and running at high and steady fps. The situations where the poor performance is across the board on high end rigs are out of the ordinary cases that usually turn out to be the result of specific other factors, such as drivers, downclocking or heat / power. Especially the downclocking seems to be a sporadic issue with a variety of both AMD and Nvidia GPU’s – it seems in some cases the GPU’s don’t properly clock up to 3d levels while running GW2 and people found that something as silly as running youtube in the background kicked their GPU into gear.
We got nearly the same specs? Same overclock.. Same GPU.. And seemingly same FPS. I mean, I get like in the sylvari area 45-80 FPS, in random areas like Bloodtide Coast 70-110 FPS, some areas 100+ but some areas I drop to 35 as lowest I think, and in wvw like 25-35. So we’re quite similiar. could you send me a pm with your skype? i would love to compare our performance in other games! thanks again
I run every game as I should, only GW2 gives me trouble. I get as low as 16 in big zergs.. this game sucks.
Ehm no, Im not a troll. i run BF3 on 600 fps maxed out so no, its not my computer. then its the optimization for nvidia or that high end cards doesnt perform well. im not a troll and anet must fix this.
GTX 680 and i5 2500 4.4 and I lag. Anet is really bad..
Hehe welcome to GW2 the worlds most CPU bound game to date! Maybe this is a conspiracy with Intel to force u to buy new CPU’s?
i5 2500 4.4 is like i7 3770 3,9 in gaming, FACT. so my cpu is rly high end.
GTX 680 and i5 2500 4.4 and I lag. Anet is really bad..
Just wanted to say that an overclock from 3.3 to 4.2 SEEMS to pretty much solved my FPS issue with my GTX 680. Good luck, this seems like a fair solution.
That is a bug, I got like 100 C on temp 1 and temp 2 on both speedfan and CPU-id but Aida64 gave me the right -cool- temperature.
Is this a Graphical error; drivers? or a Game issue?

I lag with gtx 680 so..
Not right now. I got low FPS with GTX 680 which is 3-4% better than the card you are buying.
GTX 680 15-25 fps in WvW. Anet, FIX IT.
On best appearance settings, @ 1600×900 res, I get around 35-60 FPS (average 45) in the Charr, Human, Sylvari and Asura Areas (it can spike up to around 80 or 100 but not too often depending on the exact spot), and I average around 85 FPS in the Norn area. In a WvW battle for example, I will get approximately 20-35 FPS. In addition, if I am in a spot where I am getting 110 FPS or so, I will have 99% GPU usage but if I am in WvW getting 20FPS usage will be around 30%. Why is this?
My specs:
Core i5 2400 – (Turbo boosted to 3.8 GHZ)
GTX 560 TI
4GB DDR3
Asus Z77 Chipset Motherboard.Nvidia Driver Version: 306.23
Any opinion on whether this performance is okay or not is appreciated.
I run 15-25 in wvw huge zergs with gtx 680 so don’t worry.
The fix is not about overclocking the GPU but some perfomance bug issue with overall perfomance with the Guild Wars 2
sorry wont risk anything because of one game.
You have to go here… (check the image)
Is this risky? How much should I change?
Increasing my clock and voltage did boost my FPS but it wasn’t that low to begin with.
Could you boost me through this process? How much do I have to change for this fix to be viable?
It’s Easy!
Download EVGA PRECISION X
Open it and go for “Adjust voltage” Button. Raise it a little bit and press APPLY
Easy and fast.
There’s no such button. Only power if you mean that.
Power target or mem offset?

dacooli, please stop talking rubbish.
That PC is just fine for running the game, the specs aren’t the issue. It’s not like you need a high end pc just to play the gamekitten
My wife’s PC only has a 6850OC and it’s running at around 40FPS on auto detect, and doesn’t dip below 28 in the Black Citadel.
I replied to the wrong person. I thought (s)he ran the game fine with that card and I meant that the 600 series and the high end cards got problems.
My computer: Core i5-2500k @ 3.3GHz, 8GB RAM, Radeon HD 6870, Win7 Ultimate x64.
GW2 generally runs in the 20fps range, drops to single digits when there’s action on the screen.
My son’s computer: Core 2 6400 @ 2.13Ghz, 3GB RAM, GeForce 9800 GT, Win7 Ultimate x86.
GW2 runs 40fps+ in just about all situations.
Now figure that one out.
It’s because your computer isn’t high end. I put in my GTX 570 and got much better results.
I lag with my gtx 680, so no, it’s not only 660.
Anyone with low fps in a good rig can test it please?
Send me a message with your skype. I’m going to test it with my gtx 680.
Can anyone confirm?
I run 15-25 in these big wvw battles so good luck
, the game is just bad optimized for the 600 series that is, i heard it worked good on the 500 serie tho.
If you think what you have is high end well i have bad news for you. What you have is more like low-end, you need something better than this.
Though, I got gtx 680 and i5 3.3 which CERTAINLY is high end and I lag badly in WvW and outside sometimes, depending on the zone. Anet must fix this.

Will usually get around 27-35 fps in a city. (Hoelbrak, Rata Sum, Black Citadel, Divinity’s Reach, The Grove) Any place that isn’t a city my fps varies depending on what’s going on. The most I have ever had was 55fps. It will also drop down into the low 40s during events and such with alot of people.
Pic of In Game settings provided.
you should be getting atleast 100fps at any time with those specs….
It’s because of the optimize.
I get the same with nearly same rig.
Hey all this is my first post, so im sorry if its in the wrong section as i couldn’t seem to find a general section for technical related questions.
I have a terrible PC at the moment,
CPU- amd single core 3700+
nVidia 7950GTX
2GB ram
Windows XP proAnd as expected the game runs awful, which i can’t moan about, as it played the first guild wars and the expansions maxed out with over 50fps.
What PC would you recommend? Or even if i could spend a smaller amount of money on a CPU for my motherboard, The highest i can go due to the 939 pin is an AMD Dual Core 4800+ which apparently should be okay? Any other people got these CPU etc? Cheers again.
Where abouts in the UK are you mate? Think you read my mind I am having a clear out at the min and have my old Opteron 185/FX-60 dual core that I am looking to get rid of.
The Opty 185 is the socket 939 server version of the FX-60 but if your motherboard supports the FX-60 then the Opty 185 should still work ok.
I think I still have 4gig DDR ram lieing around somewhere aswell.
The motherboard died years ago but held on to the CPU just beacuase I loved it so much it was my first high end gaming PC upgrade that I installed myself.
I dont want much for it and it is pretty dam slow compared to the newer stuff but could be a nice short term upgrade for you, if your interested download CPU-Z and if you can tell me your motherboard name, moddle number and BIOS verssion I can have a look see if I can find a CPU support list for your Mobo
I got this comp prebuilt and haven’t adjusted anything expect GPU so that is not the problem. I just updated my bios version. CPU-Z is bugged and shows my motherboard to be like 120 c xd, so does speedfan but when I downloaded aida64 it was 33 cc so i guess those was bugs.
They’re all games that have been out for longer than GW2, so obviously they have better driver support.
I don’t see the need for insults, it’s like you don’t actually want any help.

Monday 27th August. 2 days after head start. Pre 2 Nvidia driver updates and 1 (possibly 2) AMD updates and CAP updates. Pre many many GW2 patches.
Look at the benchmarks, 670 averaging over 60FPS on best appearance. That goes against what someone else told me about the same benchmarks too.
Your issue could be something as simple as corrupted data files, a misconfigured control panel settings – unless you actually act like you want help you’re not going to get anywhere.
No. I don’t have any corrupted data. I also had good FPS first days till some patch a week ago, so yeah. I got no corrupt data, nor anything else corrupt. I play all other games as I should and its not about drivers; NVIDIA SAID on the forums that they can’t do anything about it, since its so heavily CPU based (too cpu based = bad optimized). So yeah, its not my computer, its the optimize for specifically my card and my processor. Anet failed hard.
And I get no errors, there’s NOTHING wrong on my computer, since again, I play all other games as I should and I get much better performance than you in most games. So it is.Are you using antivirus? do you have realtime scanning on? what other programs do you have running in the background. Do you have a web browser open playing a flash video? All of these things greatly reduce FPS potentially.
Antivurs on regular basis, tho i dont think I have realtime scanning on. I run Steelseries driver program to control my Diablo 3 headset, also my razer driver program. Nothing more, I’ve seen people getting like 90% better FPS with windows 8 so can be the case for those who do. I don’t know.
There’s a basic list of troubleshooting that people should carry out if they’re having crashes;
1) Check drivers – this is for everything, motherboard chipset, sound, graphics etc.
2) Turn off any overclocking. GPU, CPU, RAM, whatever.
3) Stop any unnecessary programs from running in the background.
4) Make sure the power plan is set to high performance.
5) Check temperatures with a tool like RealTemp.
6) If you’re getting blue screens, use a tool like WhoCrashed? to see if it can point out what is causing them.I never crash though.
Also temps all fine.I meant to type crashes or performance issues.
I’ve done all that and checked everything, so it’s apparently the engine. I max out every other game and I am deeply sorry for my behaviour and attitude but I was looking forward for this game ever since the beginning, 5 years ago. It’s a dissapointment that anet can’t get it to run on my system and that I need to overclock it in order to get it fixed. I guess ill go back to games that are visually good and also good optimized like BF3.

I’m sure I’m not the only that notices how you ignore it when someone contradicts your ranting. I’m also sure I’m not the only that notices how you say everything is fine on your end yet offer no proof or suggestion as to how you can be sure.
You say you’d like this fixed but when someone tries to help you become extremely aggressive.
Well, I think enough proof is that I play ALL other games as I should and that GW2 is the only game of all hundred of games ive tried which i struggle with?
I doubt any other game you’ve ever owned tests the CPU of your computer like GW2 will. Do you currently have any overclocks on your system? Just because the system doesn’t overheat doesn’t mean that your system is stable. A CPU that is unstable can reboot your computer before it overheats. If you have overclocked your system, and while running GW2, it shuts off, you need to put your system back at stock speeds, or at a lower clock.
I don’t clock, my CPU is stocked 3.3 ghz, but I think my GPU is overclocked, like 1058 mhz as normal cpu and when it gets to turbo or whatever it is, like 1177 or something.
You have no idea how many times I’ve seen that when a new game is released. It happens with pretty much every new release in every forum. It’s nearly always something on the user’s end.
That’s obviously not proof that you’ve done anything to verify that your system isn’t having the issue rather than the game. No one will be able to help you until you are willing to take those steps.
I wouldn’t lie. I don’t know how to give proof but I can guarentee you that I play all other games as I should and that it is just GW2 giving me trouble. My system is all fine, experts have checked it and all parts and I’ve re-installed my OS a couple of times. I’m sorry to say this fanboi, but the only game I have problem with is GW2 which means that it is on their end. Sorry. Shouldnt be required to OVERCLOCK my cpu which nvidia suggested to be able to max this game.
They’re all games that have been out for longer than GW2, so obviously they have better driver support.

I play at 1920×1080 with all settings maxed including AA and DoF and I get 70-140 fps and 50-110 WvW and in cities. People who have adequate computers and still seeing low fps I think are experiencing ID 10t errors.

Dont discuss with him. Fanbois will be fanbois. Await an answer from Anet. I bet he can even play at max on his Pentium 4, ’cause hes pro. They have issues with the new series cards. They have to deal with it.
Don’t be rude. This is not my issue, it’s people who have a problem and then therefore post everywhere proclaiming that everyone else must have the same problem when they don’t.
Incoming screenshots to prove otherwise;
The images should be self explanatory. One is taken when stood still, and there’s a few more taken auto by fraps during an event with particle effects flying around.
Note that because FRAPS is running in the background, the FPS will be lowered a bit. Probably a couple of %, so nothing major.
That doesn’t mean anything and it stills at anets end.
See my point? “Oh this contradicts what I’m saying, therefore dismiss it out of hand”.
You’re funny. There are benchmarks at toms hardware only released a couple of days ago and those are what i said. Why, WHY, WHY WHY, do I run EVERY game as i should? 150 FPS BF3 maxed out? Sleeping dogs 30-40 on paper, SLI REQUIRED SETTINGS? Why do I run Stalker; Call of Pripyat on steady 60-70 FPS when benchmarks for my card say 40-62? There’s nothing wrong on my computer and its APPARENTLY AND OBVIOUSLY on anets end. You don’t seem to have much brainz so I won’t mind you, like someone said before, I shouldnt even discuss with someone like you.

Haha ZaxanRazor, I have not a problem. I max all other games, its all about the optimize for specifically gtx 680.
If you’re getting poor frames with a 680, either your card is damaged or something else is slowing the game down. I have a 670 and I have above 60FPS on max settings even in WvW.
Haha, no. I can play all other games just as I should. And you cannot, there has been benchmarks on toms hardware showing 35-60 fps ultra on 1920 1080 with 670 and even worse in WvW. So no.
And damaged? Slowing down the game? No, its the optimize since I play all other games fine. Explain that.
You call lag with gtx 680 optimized?
I call lag network latency because that’s what it is.
I call anyone who can’t accurately report a technical issue with proper vernacular and technical data a user with self-inflicted problems before anything else.
Hey…you asked.
GW2 runs smoothly on my *5*80, with smoothly being defined as 60FPS on high settings with a few reasonable, occasional, momentary exceptions.
It’s because the game is optimized for the 500 series. I know the engine and i’ve gotten info from a DEV claiming that this game is running better on mid end and low end computers and gtx 580 is mid end.
Just to be clear, please don’t think the FPS drop is only a result of the latest game patch. I am not saying it has not hurt some people, but myself and many saw dramatic drops(after otherwise fine perfomance) around a day or two before the latest game update.
I noticed a drop from 55-60 FPS to 5 to 8 FPS the day before the latest patch as many did….so unfortunately I don’t think the issue is as simple as a single, faulty game update.
It’s the optimization as well. What would it be else?
I don’t agree that GW2 is poorly optimised; in fact, I’d say it is quite optimised, better than other MMOs that have been out for years.
Frankly, the OP’s PC is ancient and any upgrade for it would still be ancient.
If you’re inclined to build your own, do so as you’ll get a better value. There are plenty of guides/magazines that illustrate how to do this and what components to select based on any budget (Maximum PC being the foremost publication, making sub-$500, $1K, and unlimited budget [~$10K] versions).
You call lag with gtx 680 optimized?
