Hint: Fluffy little ambient creatures are placed all throughout the map… Planning RtL around them can seriously increase your mobility by halving the cd. If you really really want the old cd, spec Aeromancer’s Alacrity. The capacity of most non-sPVP elementalists to complain without ever playing with non-standard builds astounds me.

Triple ‘especially’ when running s/d because you have a fire field and 4 blast finishers (5 finishers and an auto-AoE-crit if you include Arcane Wave in your build).

Keep in mind that burning doesn’t stack in strength, just in duration, so that extra burning proc will do very little… And nothing whatsoever if someone with stronger condition damage uses it. Plus, it ONLY procs in fire attunement 20% of the time IF someone is in melee range. The main weakness of the fire line in general is that you have to sit in fire constantly to make it worthwhile.

In the meantime, one of the elementalist’s strongest traits is procced by crits, so the passive stats of the air line are more than just DPS… They’re a constant source of vigor. If you’re traited deep into Air for Fresh Air, they’re also constant burst and mobility. All of Air’s I-VI traits are beneficial for multiple situations and builds, with VI adding great burst kill abilities. I would agree that Zephyr’s Boon isn’t the best for s/d, but Bolt to the Heart is a great dps burst to most builds.

I can also see an argument for 10 in Earth, as condition damage is more important than condition duration and toughness is harder to get than power. Stone Splinters (in theory), should be incredibly effective for both d/d and s/d since most fights are spent in melee. Or, for a tankier spec, especially in a place like WvW, Earth’s Embrace is amazing.

Overall, the appeal of Air traits is that they have more flexibility for playstyle.

For the record, on the battlefield, I hate both FA and TC for messing up my pretty looking PPT on KN BL.

On battlefields of the past, I respect TC for putting up good fights b/t BG/KN when both of us were being crushed senseless. I respect FA for fighting to the very bitter end last week and bringing some strategies we hadn’t seen before.

On forum threads of the past, I love TC for the silliness and FA for the tactical discussion.

On the forum thread of the present, I bring popcorn and don’t comment so that the trolls on both sides will continue to keep me entertained.

In summary: I love you all! Keep making this matchup fun.

Um, I like t2. Next-to-no queues. Challenging, well-matched opponents (for the most part), entertaining and respectful forum communities, awesome fights that are requiring us to really work together and learn as a server, and very little lag… the ‘idea’ of t1 is much cooler than the reality, especially since we still have times of the day when we’re fielding 3-4 people on a BL. It matters very little how good or bad we are or how much WM carries us or not (We have much to learn, and I think all of us are grateful to WM, but they’re not the only ones in Kain WvW) – I doubt we would be able to truly compete in t1 beyond individual skirmishes. Heck, our last fight against BG would prove that much. I would like more time to really solidify how we work together as a server before we go into t1.

Holy lord, FA. Nice push tonight… I have no idea where our players went (grumble grumble).

Meh, regardless of who’s right (probably a mix of both of us… I know of at least one time when a random person ran into a camp 7m before the tick and we couldn’t stop him, argh), there was good fighting on both sides. So thanks for the fun!

I thot the remaining Ta went sor BG has most of what was AA exept foo, tL and a few other that don’t come to mind atm. I think there was a big reroll before server xfers were made paid and there building there way back up again. I mean this can’t be tier 1 I am positive ken will be up here cause they are pretty rockstar, but I am also pretty sure there is a sleeper in one of the tiers aswell.

No offense but KN would get destroyed in tier one. I can’t even see kn NA managing 50 points a tick with these NA power houses. And your awesome asian force would be mitigated by JQ’s.

Yeah the difference is BG got an influx of 10 guilds or so or you would have gotten blown out in tier one like usual. KN has gotten no new guilds so why would they even have a chance of competing in tier one? Makes no sense.

I would agree, but I’ve dealt with the instant looting in LOTRO pvmp and all I can say is… Be careful what you wish for. If you think lag’s bad now, try having the server bogged down with 30 people looting at once.

Had a ball tonight playing on SoS and KA BL with [RUN]. Lots of really fun and entertaining fights. Shout-out to [RET] in particular… You guys were hard to kill and fun to play against, even if you confused our commander who seemed to think [RE] had transferred to FA as he kept calling you ‘Rethesis’. Honorable mention goes to [TSYM], you guys are always a challenge to go up against. Extra credit goes to the FA pugs who were determined to take back our supply camps and kept us running around the map like madmen.

Coron of TSYM, wanted to extend a hearty /salute to both KN and FA. Massive props to everyone who proved all the negative nancies wrong by providing a very challenging and difficult fight to the remaining guilds on SoS.

Despite the most recent goodbyes (not the ones from a week ago, or the ones from 4 days ago, but the ones today) from the next wave of WvW guilds, TSYM is looking forward to more good and challenging match-ups between our new T2 competitors. You guys bring the pain, and your overall strategies are so different than anything T1 is doing (having to deal with maps that don’t all have queues) it gives a different and very real challenge to our teams. Its easy to throw numbers at the enemy, but when you have to actually THINK about where to allocate a limited number of soldiers across a battlefield, your actually forced to use STRATEGY. They way some people run from that word is hilarious!

still waiting for the ability to move while doing meteor -.- 4,5sec casting time is MORE then enough of a handicap for the effect it does. 4,5sec is kittening insane as cast time for something which can be easily evaded :/

besides that i like the change to meteor, don’t really care much about the rest since it touch stuff which i don’t really do.

Well, you can always Lightning Flash in the middle of the channel… It’s kinda like being able to move.

dagger/dagger – Staff is more viable for supporting people from ranged, especially at low levels. D/D doesn’t come into it’s own until you have traits/gear to make it really shine.

Also, keep a focus on hands at all times in WvW – Focus 4 in Air blocks projectiles (Most notably trebuchet shots, so you can protect walls and siege from being trebbed.)

BG and KN crash into each other all the time. However, over parts of the night and early day, both servers tend to be more opportunistic and take the path of least resistance.

So rather than fighting each other,KN and BG would rather not fight each other most of the night and day(every once in a while crashing into each other) so they can get the easy points double teaming the less populated server. Now i know why you guys cant get out of T2,but i cant figure out how TC is staying in T2 being the least populated server of the three,and being double teamed most of the time.

Don’t start. They fight constantly and we fight them as well on every map. Expecting them to not take advantage of easy points during our downtime is foolish, and getting hurt feelings about it only hurts you. They have a pretty close matchup going on, and I can tell Kaineng is hungry for BG’s ranking. Despite that, TC can run an extremely competitive Primetime with the luxury of not having to worry about the overall score since our Oceanic presence lacks us that luxury.

The most important thing, though, is that in a week or 2 we are going to be in their spot, hammering two other much less populated servers and you are going to be reading posts like yours constantly from them. Try to be the competitor you want to face.

EU I give you, NA? no….you guys got ok NA. I believe WM comes a knockin just fine PST evening most nights.

WM, though awesome, is can’t cover all maps at once – half the time the WM map is full while the others, excluding EB (which always seems to be popular for reasons I will never understand), languish with smaller guilds/pugs trying to hold out/help out. Late evenings on Kain, right before the Oceanic guilds come in, are particularly sparse – I had a fun moment the other day on TC BL trying to hold Hills all by my lonesome with only two other people on the map around 4AM CST (I’m a night owl.) Just trying to explain the situation as stands – no criticism.

I didn’t see the earlier post as qq’ing, btw. I thought it was a compliment to our oceanics, who are awesome.

Not exactly what happens in game. The sixty man zerg comes, drops four or five catapults and smacks away for all of two minutes. All this while the other guy is sleeping. A siege can last from a few weeks to, the longest in history was Ishiyama Honganji, twenty-one years. So why do ours end so quickly? There are things in real life that can’t be duplicated in a game. Fair enough. We can, however, duplicate some of the aspects of the siege.

One that comes to mind, that would probably be easy to implement, are supplies. No, not the ones we carry but the Doylaks. Why should a trebuchet or catapult have an endless supply of rocks to chuck around? The attacker should have to plan and implement the logistics of a siege. Supplies run on predetermined routes already, how hard would it be to add two more routes that would drop supplies off at the sentries where the attackers can retrieve them and resupply siege engines?

This, in tangent with reduced damage output, should allow for the “weaker” server to mount a counter attack and at the same time make people think out a plan to take a keep/tower/garrison. Not just zerg your way across a map.

While I kinda disagree with the premise of this post (I don’t think WvW is broken or that people will be leaving in droves as a result), some of the points are certainly valid. I’m pretty certain that ANet knows that culling’s a major issue right now – I hate to beat a dead yak on that point. BUT the siege improvements would be a good way to make battles more interesting overall. Course, my fav fights have been over supply camps with no siege, so who knows?

If I could suggest any potential improvement, it would be the ability for players to dump supply into a keep. It would allow for efficient upgrading of a keep if the players are persistent. It mitigates the issue of people taking supply from a keep when they don’t know any better – one less thing to rage at PUGs about. It brings the fights to the supply camps and provides more incentive to fight roamers (the player becomes not only themselves, but a yak as well). Upgrades are on a timer and supplies have a cap, so there’s already a built in limit. But being able to stockpile supply in a keep might also potentially aid in times when the side holding the keep is outnumbered.

I don’t know what is going on, but I’ve managed to steal 7 rares from your dead bodies since the beginning of this repeat matchup. I would like to send a general thank you for the way you have helped my wallet by way of Ectos – It is much appreciated. But as a PSA, it might be wise to USE your rare equipment and siege blueprints, rather than stowing in away in your side pocket for us looters to gather up.

Also, that massive three-way brawl on reset night on TCBL on the eastern road where we all said “kitten it” to the camps and keeps and just fought each other tooth and nail? Awesome. I’ve been having a blast wiping and getting wiped this weekend. Keep it coming!

I wish. My guildies got way too excited in a whole other direction when I said I had enjoyed my RP fix for the day. Also, they are merciless yak killers, 24/7. I doubt they shall ever show remorse for the fleeting nature of the yak’s existence.

Are you seriously claiming not to see the benefits of the different attunements? Do you seriously claiming that playing in fire alone with no crowd control, no healing, no buffs, no nothing is as good as everything else? Come one, I just want you to say it. Pleeeeeeeese.

You could’ve made your whole point without being rude/baiting the OP, who was just asking a question. I would genuinely be interested in hearing his/her justification for sticking to fire alone. As a primarily d/d ele, much of my build is based around swapping… Someone who spends the majority of their time in fire could have some interesting insights into the advantages of that particular attunement.

The beauty of the ele is that it really allows for a flexibility of play style. I have a great deal of fun trying to determine which tool is best for which situation – be that weapon or attunement. If, after looking at all the options, you can find a good argument to make to stick fire 100%, go for it. Not liking attunement swapping is not an argument – it’s a preference that needs an argument to support it.

On a side note, many of you seem to ignore that the OP is still leveling. Much of the easy/beauty of attunement swaps does really show itself until later levels, when you can lower the cd and trait added bonuses to the mechanic. I crafting leveled my ele through 30 lvls, and I still recall the swap timer being rather painful in WvW when I was doing anything other than focus blocking. I’d agree with some of the other posters that it might be worthwhile experimenting with just one other attunement for now. Damage is nice, but that AoE chill in water becomes addictive when you realize it keeps them in your fire field longer. And then plop down a water field, not for the minuscule heal, but for the multiple heals you allies can combo into it. But you don’t have to do this very often. Especially not leveling up.

Anyways, I think threads like this are useful just to confirm the existence of fellow female gamers… Map chat is full of “Come on guys, stop being [reference to female anatomy], grow some balls and push the line! Man up!” Now, sadly lacking balls, I can appreciate this only from a distant perspective. But it’s nice to know from threads like these that if I felt like posting “Come on gals, pretend like it’s that time of the month and the yaks are holding all your carefully hoarded chocolates hostage! KILL THEM!” that SOMEONE would understand what I was talking about from personal experience.

Anyways, I think the great part of WvW is that you can take on all those roles that you listed at whatever time you wish.
