The engineer was introduced as part of the game originally deal with it it doesn’t fit into the “meta” sometimes. Have you tried playing one after the turret nerf? its really not that easy seriously. Before you kitten wine and moan play one successfully and then you have the right to complain. I don’t like Thieves but, i realized after really tying to play one they take a considerable amount of skill to play well and even survive. The same with fresh air eles they are pure cheese but they do take a good amount of skill to play well. Adapt to what comes in front of you and think for yourself don’t let the “meta” do it for you.
People people just shut up and look at how your sounding. Bark, bark, whine, moan, meta, meta, meta, meta I got beat by another player in pvp and i refuse to look elsewhere than the meta for answers. Can you please nerfs engineers to oblivian since I dont like them to start with in pvp so I can be “winner” by befault without looking outside the meta and playing and learning my class. All i want to play is a thief, elementalist, guardian, warrior and mesmer, know what just delete all other classes but those and well be good.
The engineer is here to stay deal with it. And do try looking around at other solutions besides what some college math professor has come up with you might find the answers right under your nose. Anet dosent have to ultranerf everything just because you want to be a “winner” by default.
the meta needs a break? no the meta needs to be thrown away and rethought. What about pew pew power rangers they are just as bad.
Not saying that turrets shouldn’t be toned down and adjusted a bit. But by how much and where is the question. And perhaps some folks should look elsewhere to counter turrets rather than hit their heads repeatedly against a brick wall and say “nerf them because I cant counter them”. Like I said earlier there’s no build that can beat everything if there was we all would be playing it.
To all the classes that usually avoid turret nests thieves, mesmers, certan warriors and guardians…. Please consider this every class/build has its kryptonite a squishy crit thief poping in a turret nest to do a backstab is probably going to die very quickly it happens its not a thiefs strong point as a mater of fact its their Kryptonite. If superman didnt have his kryptonite his stories wouldnt be that entertaining because no one could stop him. We want Superman to have his weaknesses as we have our own to make our lives more challenging.
If there were one class/build that owned all we would all play it, all drive gray Priuses, all wear gray suits. all do the same job and live in the same type house that are all same shade of gray. Does anyone want to live that life?
I play a turret engi and do agree that something needs to give, but realize that theres a counter to every build/class and noone will win every situation get over it. Ive seen mostly thieves mesmers and warriors kitten moan and complain about how they cant get past a turret engi, well have you tried another approach? it just may work but youll have to look outside the meta in some situations.

the suggested changes are fine and can be worked around but lets look at other “minions”.
Necro minions are broken and not responsive half the time are these “working as intended” because your using them as a example and they are currently only partially useful. So treating turrets like Necro minions will break them again like they were for a good year or two.
As for the metaheads learn to be flexible we all don’t subscribe to your mediocrity. So keep it to yourself please. Just because a build isn’t easily countered by your inner circle of builds doesn’t mean its wrong or OP.
I do like the suggestion of making the turrets damage/ tankiness partially based on their engineers stats and having vunlerability to some condis like bleeding(oil leak), fire (they blow up after so long)…. Also they are metal and possibly vulnerable to hammers and maces and possibly projectiles such as bullets.
Whatever you do just dont overdo it like with the ranger longbow, Turrets work lets keep them working please.
I’m game with the original posted ideas but ill add one more if turrets can take critical hits and condi damage, they can give critical hits based on the engineers critical% and damage potency in return. And to those that cry cheese or wolf whatever you want look at the #2 spamming longbow power ranger, or the nothing but auto attack fresh air dd ele that has no cooldowns on the fresh air trait?

NO NO and NO unless several big issues are fixed.
- No free transfers or any transfers at least one month before it starts.
- Find a good way to balance or greatly reduce the stacked servers rather than giving the bandwagoners an excuse to make yet another huge bandwagon server that simply ruins the middle tiers so they can be “Winners” only to crumble apart shortly after the tournament ends.
- Find a good balance between defense/holding an objective as well as open field combat with appropriate rewards for either.
- Fine tune the PPT system so it isn’t so easy to manipulate.
- Come up with or find a reliable system to account for wins and losses, the Swiss style system does not work with three smaller tiers as part of a whole.
- Not so long (9 weeks is a bit much) while you do need time to get solid results the longer it goes on the more poisonous the WVW environment gets near the end.
- No living story during the tournament small distractions are fine but major signature events can wait a week or two until its over.

350 ish wvw rank no chests, no rings, nothing, nothing at all. Nothing Ascended from pve or wvw or from any chests or champ bags. It seems some people got all the luck leaving everyone else getting nothing. This coming from someone playing since the games release.

To help balance out some things had an idea. Keep the point tick at 15 minutes but keep it for individual towers. The catch would be is capping the objective would not give any points until 15 minutes after the initial cap as well as each objective would give specific points per tick such as, five (way is five censored out anet?) for a camp, 10 for a tower, 15 for a keep and 20 for a castle additionally you would get 2 additional point ticks per upgrade. This would help balance out smaller servers and give them a chance against megablobs as a tower or larger objectives is much easier to defend with fewer people and siege, as well as make it worth it to actually hold the objectives you take.

Well some DR on spamming the same skill be it stuns or other condis on one person or group over and over and over does make some sense. Perhaps like after 3ish hits from the same base attack then the duration gets less and less each time but the player never gets completely immune from said attack could work. However, acting on a whim only makes the game worse especially from developers.
Because several guilds/servers/players used alternate accounts to do far more than simply spy on the servers they were currently matched up against during season 1. Things like sabotage supplies in keeps; mess with siege and siege-cap maps; destroy golems…. That’s why epic thank those that abused the system previously.
This could work but it could also hurt the game far more than it helps. Keep in mind that the players that crave large fights usually swarm the top tier servers and stay in that bracket. That is fine, like minds will form a clique so long as it doesn’t overflow and effect the players that want smaller population based wvw such as the rising bandwagons servers that occasionally effect the NA servers not sure about EU.
The bigger problem for anet is most likely server lag which is why there’s limits on wvw ques to begin with. Many times my computer has had no problem running in wvw but the skill lag prevents me from doing anything productive while fighting larger forces especially 3 way battles. You do have a point and done well it would help balance out the servers but a hastily made plan rarely works as intended. You have odiously thought it out and do have some good points. But let anet work it out if its valid in their minds they will work on it eventually.
If they remove server transfer fees we will see far more bandwagon servers that implode on a whim filled with “winners” not a good thing for wvw stability or appeal. This would cause far more problems that it would actually solve.
Dont blame anet on this one yes their application is a bit buggy but the blame lies with the servers/players that sent spies to opposing wvw servers that did far more than spy. Things like hiding entire golem forces so they despawn; spamming oddball siege to siege cap maps; dumping supply in keeps/towers via upgrades when its needed for defense; and many other nasty things. In other words wvw trolls, blame those guys that abused the system not anet. Anet is simply trying to keep the peace and help make wvw a more bearable place.

To be honest YB is split into a 30/70% maybe 40/60% split the smaller being the persistent WVWers and the others more PVX players and achievement hunters. The normal wvwers tend to be more tactically minded and can be highly effective with smaller numbers while the PVX players tend to be good but can be more meh. The latter and larger player base also tends to be fair weather to varying degrees that’s what your likely seeing. However, when there’s loot or achievement on the line we all tend to come out hence the sudden boost in wvw players atm. As for FA well they tend to be a much heavier WVW based server so take that as you will.

As for your “predictions” its too early in the season to accurately predict anything. Let the numbers talk and soon enough we’ll know who will be king once a few more matches have taken place. Other than that just play its a game whoever wins in essence gets nothing but pixels and in game tokens anyways.

Don’t count out YB out for the top 3 we now have a reason to make a massive showing in WVW. I will just point out season 1 predictions put YB at 5-7? yet we got 2nd. Put up a good fight and the results will be earned that’s something all your calculations and number crunching cant predict. Also have all you predicters also considered what effect the upcoming patch will have as well? Too bad it comes in the middle of season 2 but your only counting numbers, rankings, and coverage what if the wvw meta entirely changes? Not trying to talk trash but do not count your chickens until they have hatched.
To all those barking about alliances. Was there an agreement between YB and EB vs SBI most definitely however, that was last week this is this week there is no overly hated server that everyone can agree on. As far as ive heard there is no formal alliance between any server in this match up.
To be honest WVWVW is a 24/7 event it doesn’t shut down during the non prime time of any server, simply put that’s how its designed to work. The suggestion to put servers in 3? brackets based on coverage isn’t a bad one but would require a lot of resources and time on ANETs part. Would it help, yes but night capping would still happen based on coverage point blank. Some things will always happen based on the current match up and servers paired together for the week, its just how this type of server matching works.
As for transferring to a server that is in based on the usual times you actively play is a valid means. After all being on a server that is dead when your on isn’t that fun to a lot of people. The problem comes with the bandwagoneers that constantly shift servers to simply be winners by default only to transfer off when that server starts loosing. This artificially inflates servers that realistically should not be in that slot in WVWVW. This in turn destabilizes WVWVW as a whole. Can ANET really do a whole lot about this? not really if they want to make money on server transfers they have to allow for a some things that wouldn’t normally be fair. That being said transferring to a server that shares ones interests and active times can be rewarding for everyone. So long as its done for the proper reasons not just to be on the winning side there’s no problem with it.

No matter how you put it the greifing happened towards everyone not just one or two servers. This in turn causes the griefed server to grief the server that the griefer said they were from. this leads to the original griefer to grief harder and soon enough everyone has kitten in their Cheerios, DEAL WITH IT. Every server has these bad elements especially when the outcome is crucial to a desired result, is anyone really surprised when the griefing escalates when the pressure gets turned up? The only good defense is to have everyone openly and truthfully discourage these acts and maybe well all have a better time in WVW although it will still happen regardless of who says what.
That tampering rule is referring to SPVP not WVW hate to inform you

Dear SBI you had to know this was coming sooner or later. No one knew what servers would do it or to what extent but you had to know someone was going to do this with all the arrogance and chest thumping yall have been doing. To be honest YB and EB are not close in fact we have a rather bad relationship between eachother at times. But when you play the superiority card so long your so easily hated and that overcomes the smaller rivalry’s between other servers. Just take note now that others have seen you get owned by other servers that weren’t previously 8 or better prior to leagues expect more resistance. Your unbreakable facade has been broken but everyone will see the cracks from now on and not be near as intimidated by it.
FA i really do appreciate your “commentary” but this isn’t your match up thread go away. And please take your server back to gold where you belong and subsequently get stomped over and over and over and over.
Alliance between YB and EB? Not that i know of but i will say that a server like SBI that has played the superiority (better than you) card for this long shouldn’t be surprised when they get prioritized and focused by bolth servers that they are matched up against eventually. And once the genie is out of the bottle it does not go back in.
Shonie while i do mostly agree with you, your discounting something you shouldn’t. Remember many weeks ago (before leagues) when your server was trying to take our (YB) Overlook in EB while holding almost all towers/keeps/camps and SMC in all 4 maps with a nearly unlimited amount of people and near unlimited supply and it still took SBI 7-10 hours to take a T2 OL and 2 towers? That was because of well placed siege, skill and the dedication of our WVWers, if anyone discounts they might just be surprised. Am I saying Yb or EB is going to win this match over SBI? I really don’t know. All i can honestly say is may the best server win.

FA if your trying to break Yaks Bends will to fight please don’t try you wont succeed. Many servers have tried, and even though many of our opponents have trampled us in the end they still didn’t succeed in that aspect we are the Evil Empire don’t forget that. You can scare off our fair weathers, you can scare off the achievement hunters but you will never break all of us. That being said keep up the good fight that’s what makes it fun.
Coming form a server ranked roughly in the middle this can be very annoying. Every reset its a gamble your either going to steamroll or get steamrolled. If your getting steamrolled the fairweathers go champ farming in Frostgorge Sound and if your steamrolling its no fun because all the “heroes” decide to come out and play dumbing down the whole server for the week. Its a sad state and theres only so much that can be done on our end and on anets end because the server hoppers that just want to be “winners”
Well that was a chuchu train zerg lots of up levels and fair weathers people that aren’t normally in WVW. So congrats on killing uplevels.
Ok 35 in TS thats very vague in what situation? field fighting, tower defense….. And how many weren’t in TS that was in your zerg. If your going to gloat tell it all not just the shiny bits.

Be careful SBI your aiming to get all the way up there to the big 6 if you get what you wish you may not like it. If Stonemist can be taken right under your nose your not ready and will be eaten alive in one bite.
Yuna is that after taking OL tonight everyone really enjoyed the hours of bags you provided. It took SBI almost all day to take ONE keep thats not fully upgraded with unlimited resources and a nearly endless supply of people at their disposal all the time aimlessly walking into sup arrow cart fire over and over and over for hours. Not to count all the busted golems bolth Alphas and Omegas, and the 7? times that you actually got into inner and failed.

Problem is that if you spend all the time and effort to get that and it will be a LOT of time, effort, and money it should look much better and not make people want to reskin those items immiadetly.

Honestly wvw matching should take a couple things into considerations now that casual server transfers have been taken care of and servers have been basically stabilized.
1. When is the servers prime time:
not to bark but if a server has a heavy oceanic presence it should go up against similar servers. This would help towards making WVW fun and not the constant flipping of the map during the day and consequently night hours.
2. Commander books:
Lets face it every server has its share of idiot commanders that have no idea how to effectively run a battlefield. Some players get their commander tag and flaunt it like its the newest truest and bluest. Perhaps make it so the commander tag can only be shown in WVW and is earned by X amount of WVW kills and X location captures instead of having it as a title you can buy without having to prove yourself or have any knowledge of WVW at all.
3. Better matching overall:
I definitely know this is a mammoth task and there will odiously be times where the same servers will go up against others back to back to back… While this does happen and will likely continue to happen due to the fact there is only so many servers, someway to mix things up and possibly match up different reasonably equally matched servers each week to make it balanced and fresh could potentially keep players more interested in WVW.
From what i understand the legendary was meant to take at least 6 months of farming to achieve. If it was just that it would be no problem, however the legendary got hijacked by players with all the gold and gold sellers to make more gold, making precursors almost harder to get than all the other mats to make a legendary weapon, and the rarity of a precursor drop only compounds the problem.
Aside from that, My thoughts would be take the time to make a long and challenging series of story missions and put restrictions on it say you can only do one mission per week or something along those lines. Doing so could yield a precursor and maybe the other required materials or a legendary weapon in its entirety. But that’s only my thoughts it seems fair in my opinion but im not anet not my call to make.
Ok after playing the game since release these are some of my thoughts and concerns.
Legendary weapons:
- Once crafted they should Soulbound
- Perhaps an alternative way to get the gifts required to craft them rather than making the top 1% of the player base and merch guilds even richer(and yes I do know the mats are farm-able over time). While still retaining the current method for those that wish to travel that path. Perhaps a difficult quest or mission chain that you can only complete one mission a week, made specifically to acquire legendary weapon materials.
- While it is common knowledge that a “Precursor scavenger hunt” is in the works please do something to make these a bit more available and make these weapons soul bound or account bound. I am sure there are many people that have all but the precursor weapon and cant get their trophy because the weapon they need is 400+ gold on the marketplace. This would likely also cut down on gold buying, selling, and farming from outside companies.
Ranger:
- More pet control, mainly the ability to stow your pet and have them come back out when the player chooses to bring them out rather than when they get into combat. While still keeping the option to have the pet come out when the player goes in to combat if they so choose.
Cultural Armor:
- Is it at all possible to be able to purchase it with karma or gold based on the players preference? I mean 119 gold for a rare armor set that your only going to transmute onto Exotic armor pieces that cost far less to craft or buy off the marketplace?
All said and done this is a good game, one that I want to see succeed in the years to come. I played GW1 for many years and came to love the Anet team and your vision. But please do not become Blizzard, they do make a lot of money but they sold their soul in the process of getting there.
