By no means am i suggesting to limit gem transfers on top of this, simply giving each player a reasonable means to change servers on a reasonable base to follow friends/family… on a reasonable timeline. Anyone that server hops would need way more that 1 transfer a year to do what they do now. However the above mentioned “returning player” transfer after 6 months or something around like that would work as well.
(edited by dragonrage.8921)
This may sound crazy but add in some restrictions and it could work.
- One earned every year with a limit of having only one at a time
- The timer restarts after the one free transfer is used not after its initally earned
- Said transfer cannot occour on a t2 or higher server
- Said transfer cannot be used during or a month before any wvw tourney
Anyways just an idea geared towards people returning to a potantal dead server or returning to a server where they have no friends/guilds remaining
In wvw I usually play what is generally considered a build that’s far to the side and not on many necro players radar. Old school mid/long range power with no minions that uses wells and marks as well as ranged pressure in the form of death shroud and lich form for its spike damage potental and life force generation. The main armor gear stats I use for this is marauders or wanderer’s depending on how much damage im taking and the group makeup. Now this means I give up some damage but dead dps don’t dps at all. This said im one of those players that feel that the 200% builds that make you the unstoppable force and the unmovable object wrong and if you want one you have to give up some of the other.
As far as pve i usually run a chilling reaper variant of said build using the same armor which is nice due to the chilling being really nice in pve atm. The only major letdown to either of these builds is alack of stability and it requires a higher amount of environmental awareness, but that’s what a group is for to cover what your lacking.

The necro is a fun and entertaining class to play. Now not all people feel that way or even play to have fun but to be the most competitive and make the most gold… This is a GAME not a job, not a track meet where you get real life honor and physical trophy’s that you can hold in person. Stop thinking of GAME as a real life sporting event or a job, and you’ll relax and begin to enjoy your time in game not stress over it.
Now its never fun to play a job/class that’s not doing what you want it to do and there’s always that issue. That means its time to select another class and leave the old class alone so those that do still enjoy it can do so in peace. All this screaming “you ruined necro!!!”, “The games ruined forever!!!” only makes new and good existing players leave the game forever because of all the drama your creating. Please just stop move on and leave necro to those that still enjoy if you feel its broken. Go play your overpowered meta build and leave those of us that like necro alone.
Its clear some people hate siege but siege is a part of the game and it is usedful to defend towers, keeps etc… To be clear its part of the game and was put there intentionally. If you fights people made the game there would be no siege at all but your not the only ones that play wvw get over it.
Instead of complain about what other classes can do make up your own mind and find out what works for you the problem is the 200% builds that make the player bolth a unstoppable force and a immovable object. No matter what you do the game balance changes and moves if you want the same class same build the entire time your in a fantasy world. Necro is sitting in a good spot just the others tend to be out of balance. If you want to play the favor of the month move on and leave the ones that like to play necro alone.
While condis are being a bit abused and yes there could some balance on it but dont cry fowl just because you cant beat on your trusty rusty build/class. The game balance changes maybe you should look into modifying your build a little. As far as condis not taking skill i beg you to reconsider, theres a lot that goes into putting all those condis on the right person then hoping they dont get cleansed. While there are some builds that are mindless cheese, but those are always there condi power or sustain just depends on the meta.

Well durability runes are part of the problem so expect some rework of those, as far as the healing druid it sounds like they are making so if you want to have all that healing you’ll have to have healing gear as well.
Ok a few things i do agree that they should separate wvw, pve and pvp modes as far as skills but thats not the parent problem. Your seeing a lot of pve raiders complaining about the nerf to boonshare but the problem lies in wvw where zergs that are literally dripping in full stacks of boons fighting another blob also dripping in boons for more that 10+ minutes with no results at all, thats no fun for anyone.
The problem lies in the players that find a niche in the game that can be tweaked and made into a overpowered meta that ends up dominating the game as a whole. This becomes more and more popular until everyone’s running it even if they hate the idea, build or class they are on because if they don’t they wont achieve anything. People leave because of this and ANET is forced to change the effected skills.
This leads to the people that started the trend leaving the game after the good players that were stuck in the middle leaving in frustration for good, leaving the game in a worse state than before the meta started. Thats the problem and its simply a inevitable side effect of how anet made the game without any holy trinity. Despite this sounding like im blaming anet im not, i am pointing at the people that choose to use and abuse these little glitch cheese builds/metas until they become cancerous.
Well any game skill or meta that gets caustic and abused will get nerfed to the ground its inevitable. This is sad and I did wish anet would balance rather than nerf but, dont always get what ya want.
Duelers around SMC are just idiots if people expect that their duels to be honored its not a good place for it period. Some may respect them but any zerg running by will probably run over them.
While i agree that people need to adapt to new metas and builds some of these cc/comdi bombs are a bit nasty even if your prepared for them. I would agree to diminishing returns where a stun/cc wouldnt work over and over and over… but you would eventually be immune to them for like 5-10 seconds enough to get away untill it resets.
Well do you have a gunfight on a complete strangers lawn while not expecting the home owner not to shoot you as well or have the cops called on you? Or do you go to a place thats meant to have a gunfight in?. Just because its continent right where your at you’ll have more fun if you go somewhere you don’t have to watch your back for a zerg. There are safe places to duel, go there and use them.
As fas as dueling in wvw its fine as long as a few conditions are considered.
- Not in public areas such around Stone Mist Castle
- Done out of the way areas like below South camp in the alpine borderlands or the Odsidian Sanctum etc…
- Expect to get ran over by a zerg or havoc group if dueling in the open.
Many people will duel around a camp/towers and when the native server is gone, BAM objective captured so if someones dueling around a objective that your server needs to keep go ahead mow them over. They clearly have a good place to duel uninterrupted and its not around camps and objectives.
Taosa trust me you dont want capes too many clipping issues. Thats a can of worms you want to stay closed, unless its done perfectly and that’s a big stretch.
Well to be honest Tonics do not have any good place in wvw it wouldn’t kill anything if they were completely disabled in the wvw maps, besides a few trolls and people trying a little too hard to win.
Yes, please wait a couple of weeks a lot of indicators favor a balance change incoming. What it may consist of or if its going to happen is in the air at this point. As far as stats goes find something affordable your willing to invest in that can be used in with another build for now and make those charged quartz crystals if you don’t have a stockpile already.
yes and no but at least things are moving forward albeit slowly rather than backwards
Ok so lets get this straight with all the other problems with this game you choose to emphasize the female “lady” of the keep being called a lord…. So lets put everything aside, game balance, expansions, wvw population and proper match composition and pvp tournaments just because your offended…… get over it its a game if you don’t like it LEAVE.
First of all if you really like your druid/ranger and the tag dosent who cares find another tag or guild to run with if your that passionate about it. You may consider meeting them half way with your build or something in that neighborhood if you really desire to blend in. But consider the meta is kittenous flavor of the month club that only lets you down in the end when anet rebalances/nerfs popular classes.
Play what you like so long as your effective in what you and in you do and in your team performance your fine. If your on a high tier server you may choose to transfer to a lower tier or smaller server where the meta is not so obey or die. Just pick a path choose wisely and enjoy your game.
One reason a lot of folks cite for anet allowing the manipulation is they make money and lots of it. While this is true, its like the US goverment making money taxing the sales of cocaine from drug dealers Would it make money sure lots of it but its not sustainable and not good for any community.
A lot of T1 servers manipulate their numbers to open up linkings and transfers and get even more bloated. Ideas like “taking a vacation from wvw” when they are really just playing on another account on another server. Honestly it would benefit if anet put a semi permanent transfer lock on some of these bloated servers as well as be very careful when linking any T1 server with another. Another idea is to offer free transfers off of these bloated servers to t4 or lower servers. Bottom line anet needs to stop falling for these manipulation tactics used by a small percentage of players/guilds that feel the need to manipulate servers and ruin wvw for others. We would all be much better if we all found a server and stuck to it trying to restore server loyalty instead of trying to be “Default Winners”.
Never pick a server by virtue of their place in the wvw rankings alone. This will only lead down the fairweather server hopping path. Instead find a server that you can identify with in the values it perpetuates and stick with it. General picking only servers in tier 1 matchups only gives huge mindless blobs and skill lag. Finding one that encompasses your personal values and is somewhere the middle wvw ranking wise is usually optimal and far more entertaining.
I agree with leaving boonshare be , however I also agree with tuning down the buffs in wvw so you don’t have invincible zergs by default. Also its not the normal mesmer players, but mesmers that often abuse stealth, blinking and other movement and other sills that generate the nerfs so blame the abusers if you don’t like whats happened to mesmers. This is just the latest in the long line of wvw metas that get overused abused and therefore nerfed to the ground instead of properly balanced for the wvw application.

Siege is there for a reason I know a lot of people don’t like it but that’s their opinion not everyones. If you don’t like siege don’t play around it, don’t use it and don’t join a guild/server that prefers to use it. Or learn to play around it and counter it.
Problem with YB (yes im on YB) is that we got a horrible pairing when it all started and no linking afterwards. Too big for some tiers and too small on out own considering the pairings at the time we fell down to tier 4 only to get back in tier 3 get double teamed and back to tier 4…. This was, is anets fault and anytime you send a giant boulder down the mine shaft it bowls over everything in its path insuring no one has fun. Where we land i don’t know but hopefully this semi equilibrium works itself out to where no one is being squashed and having fun as well. Bottom line either anet has to iron out the pairing system or remove a few servers and try to balance out the populations per tiers.

If they are “dueling” in a high profile area that’s a risk they take not yours by any means. If they really wanted to be reasonably let alone they would go to the obsidian sanctum and duel there. If you see a server mate fighting another and they don’t indicate that they are dueling go ahead and wipe out the instigator nothing wrong with that it is wvw not duel vs duel.
Sometimes its not all about doing more damage but outlasting or playing smarter and countering your opponents. Think outside the box.
It can easily ruin the immersion especially for roamers and havoc groups. Usually they end up around S camp behind the camp but they can easily end up in high profile areas. If it really bothers you and its a largish lingering group encourage them to take it to the obsidian sanctum or you can intentionally steer a zerg to mow the duelers over?
Instead of complaining that something is OP counter it or leave it be. Theres always a way to counter a build just depends in your willing to run and come up with a appropriate build. Think for yourself sometimes the metas not always the right way to go.
This idea has been tossed around by anet a bit im pretty sure but there’s a lot more than goes into the idea of wvw balance. If anet does a force transfer from the bloated overstacked servers people complain and just re settle in other servers and start the stacking all over again. There’s fair weathers aka “default winners” that just make the server unstable and cause the above mentioned effect of opening a already bloated server up to transfers. Theres the fact that quick thoughtless actions only cause more strife than these ideas seek to solve. Theres a solution out there but whats suggested here would only reset the stacking and manipulating at best. Theres a good solution that will fix 90% of all the wvw problem but it wont come easily or fast the best solutions are always well thought out and take time to deploy

I tend to lean to cleaning up the desert map and creating a jungle map thats not like the tangled depths but a clean single level map that has its unique advantages not a jungle based close of alpine or desert. Then give each side one specific map each week not unlike EOTM.
Well ideally you would have to acquire the rune/sigil first but barring players from running what they want to run just because someone wants 1,000,000,000 gold per rune just because it happens to be in the current meta is a bit overwhelming. There are other things to sell that don’t directly affect builds. Or alternatively you would have to pay a fair price per swap based on rarity not everyone’s rich.
(edited by dragonrage.8921)
Well if you had that much money/gems to spend impulsively and didn’t look before you jumped in. Maybe you should learn to slow down with new gem store items and look before you leap.
This is an idea iv’e been tossing around in my head but how about make sigils and runes a unlock able like skins and make them usable similar to the pvp system minus the all or nothing idea. This frees up build and gear combinations without the massive gold price tag imposed by the broker wars 2 players of the gw2 world. Changing gear and builds shouldn’t cost hundreds of gold, and should flow freely hopefully promoting a wider variety of builds and ideas, not corralling people into meta lemming pits. So some people can get even more gold when they already have thousands saved up and multiple legendary weapons collecting dust in their banks.
The ranger sniper ie… you loose the pet and gain rifle/longbow damage and addditional range enough to make up for the loss of a pet. Slow but powerful aimed attacks. High white damage with lots of critical chance and damage as well as stun, knockback and other physical based cc’s. However, reduce damage reduction and health to balance out the spec.
If anyone remebers GW1 there was a system that allowed players to switch to a specific map instance by choosing the specific map district without having to to ferry on another player. So long as it was not full you could come and go as much as you pleased without relying on party ferrys. Not bashing the party ferry system but its so much easier on the user end to have a map district drop down menu instead of having to join another player and join their instance that way. With the mega server already established and wvw potentially going mega server this could be a nice boon.
Viable? that’s a open ended comment there. Viable is dependent on group communication, group makeup, and whether the group can predict each others actions. There’s a unlimited combination of “viable” options that involve every class and build it simply depends on the team and its makeup.
So do play what you want and more importantly what your good at not just what the “meta” or anyone else tells you what to play. Just be warned if you choose a class that’s misunderstood or doesn’t fit in the current popular builds you may have to dig a bit more to find a good group that can utilize your talents. After all its not the class but the build and ability of the person to play that build that’s important.
HP Sponge bosses:
Bosses that take 30 minutes to kill with 100,000,000,000,000,0000 hp, and 100,000,000,000,000,000 toughness. Yet they hit like a wet noodle and have easily predictable and avoidable mechanics. Its like me handing you a sledge hammer, a wet sponge, and a wood block and telling you “break the sponge with the sledge” probably not going to happen. A good boss fight should last 5-10 minutes with a balanced party and be deadly when cornered and hit by but one that doesn’t one shot players with some reasonable defenses.
Bosses with break bars and perma stability:
Tried the volcano fractal lately? Its like fighting a boss with double break bars not fun.
Everyones speculating and assuming while knowing nothing abut how the raids will shape up chill and relax. never know what the future brings, ignore the squeakers already trying to spin a web of unfounded rumors.
(Ok what I say next is not meant as a insult towards anyone or their playstyle…)
Kitten the meta if you like Necro find a build that works, fits a role and master it just know that the idiotic meta lemmings (not the ones that actually understand the meta) will follow blindly and not know how to even play their build, let alone know how it fits dynamically into a group. Yet they still police the meta that they don’t comprehend at all and usually end up dead on the floor 90% of the time, so play what you like and enjoy but be flexible at the same time. Remember dead party members don’t help anyone so some self sustainability doesn’t hurt.

All seems well and just in need of just a bit of polish minus the gyros and some accuracy on the #3 hammer skill. The normal ones have a duration of around 15 seconds and seem to have lackluster performance when compared to other equivalent skills on the engineer. Extending the time to say 30ish seconds for the normal ones (not the elite stealth gyro which is acceptable) and giving them more oomph and following speed seems like a good place to start.

Your assuming that the Mesmer, guardian, Elementalist meta crowd won’t just ignore every other class like they have for 3 years.
True but here’s hoping right?
Just because one class or another is being abused because people think its op and thus overplayed dosen’t mean yours is that bad it just means the classes are out of balance. To be honest if you don’t like necro now and since you used mesmer as a main example maybe you should put down your necro and play a mesmer. You might be happier not knowing what a necro can do because you simply never bothered to try and overcome those obsticles and fully explore the class.
GS while still needing a few small tweaks and other stuff is fine. I mean most of us are used to dagger/warhorn and staff weapon combinations and comparing everything to dagger dps. its like comparing an apple to an orange they are bolth fruit but fundamentally different in their own right. Play the GS learn its rotation and it will shine. So please put down the meta thinking this doesn’t look like it will scale with icebow either so it’ll be shunned by the closed minded idiots (metaheads) anyways right?
I was thinking something more like this, while not an exact duplicate but more notably sinister and evil

Risen Downer, I mean with there be risen everything in the game there had to be a few rejects right?
Hate to say this as I also hate the meta and how it restrains the game as a whole but if you don’t like it become it briefly and see how it ticks and make a viable counter build. Don’t be afraid to experiment and don’t be afraid to use a meta build with the purpose of modifying it to your own ends. You can use the meta against itself in a very personally satisfying way. As a note you may also be running across anti meta builds, something to consider.
