Custom Arena Feedback and Suggestions

First of all great job with the custom arenas and the observer.

Things that need to be changed:
1) Reset custom arena function to update changes that were recently made. For example i made a mistake like making the teams 10 person each and ready option on, well it won’t reset unless a considerate amount of time passes with the room empty or 20 people ready up on my room.
2) Add administrators for the public channels there are many channels that were made for 2v2 3v3 duels and people went capping points etc ruining them, either because they are new to the game and ended up there or because they were trolling.
3) Be able to kick spectators! this is very important, spectators can be badmouthing on map chat, spying for some team, stream matches that were organized for someone else to stream etc.
4) If you make changes on a private room(pass-worded) and you don’t renew the password on the field it resets and goes public without password.
5) When u first enter the game u cant go to the mists if you don’t select a side or spectator.

Suggestions:
1) Pause game! if you implement this it will be awesome for the tournaments in the case someone gets a disconnect we just pause the game and skills stop recharging their cool downs.
2) Replay function
3) Option to limit classes(this can be used to have warrior only public games for example)
4) No points for capping or doing secondary objectives like orb(so the custom arena goes duel arena mode)

Everyone feel free to post you feedback and suggestions here. I have more things to be added but i can’t recall them right now.

suldaris is not macroing but some teams like forsaker’s team report suldaris right when the tourney starts (i watched his streams)….. but now u can watch him play and learn on my team’s server :/

Next time u lose ur 2v2 or 2v3 or 2vX + guards and then u request duel, stop badmouthing accept the duel rules and don’t run away.
Any time you want to reduel let me know, till then u remain the loser even though it was 2v2(after i respec u run out)plus blocking while provoking is really something isn’t it?

Soloqueue and leaderboards are malfunctioning

Here is a funny story, so I decided to go solo queue one game earlier today, of course I faced a premade; that is cool. Also it is understandable that the people I got queued with were low pvp ranks, since its not peak hours. But what is not understandable is the fact that I dropped from 167 to 221 which is 54 places on leader board ladder with the following team on the attachment bellow.
I have also to mention that I played at least 20 games the last days so it wasn’t that this game had extra rating value due to me being inactive on pvp as ANET mentioned on another dev post or SOTG can’t recall which was.
Plus the 5th guy missing is the classic alt + f4 dude that doesn’t want to lose his precious rating.

This post is about the massive rating drop when you play solo against premade with very low rated people in your team against higher rated team.

I dont know what the situation on NA was but almost all the best teams on EU had a thief in their composition and it is definitly a strong member of a team, also thiefs werent that rare on EU in general (i speak in past tense because none of those teams play anymore as the competitive scene is dead).

i think the post got deleted but a main player from EU said he has played with and talked to all the “top” thiefs on EU and they said to be a top thief you need to macro.

now i even took that into consideration with my score and gave thiefs the benifet of the doubt but that doesnt change the fact that they cant hold points or stay on points. they can back cap but if a person knows they are there the top classes beat thiefs more then lose to them so then you have to take into account points per second ikittenround fight on the node between each class vs a thief. the other classes hold it longer and win more fights on it giving the other classes more points overall and that lowers the thiefs score.

im not saying u cant play with a thief im just saying there is way etter out there. we play with a warrior and it get so discouraging when we go against anoter great skilled team with a better comp because then it turns into they have the upper hand just because of comp.

whoever said that talked to every top EU thief is obviously lying or u are lying don’t know which don’t care. I can tell u that 2/4 of the remaining thieves when i was still playing weren’t macroing.

Good gameplay on the OP, I am glad to see that d/d thief works on fotm cause i am playing one since the game released on spvp and now for 10 days on pve. Even if he clicks its still pve u don’t need to avoid thief haste burst with ur withdraw skill or die its cool guys relax and if u are so pro just post ur gameplay videos to see them.

"Solo" Que

The point is to have competitive matches. If you are so good that you beat every other solo group. Then yeah you should have at least a reasonable shot at beating the lower tier premades.

You wanna test that theory of yours? I’ll go ahead and grab some rank20s that are all on builds that they’ve been given from myself and my team (believe me, plenty of these premades are getting their builds from the toptiers copypaste style), put them all on ts while mixing you up with a group of r20rs that don’t have a team composition at all or any preset roles or anything similiar to that and then telling you to carry?

I’ve been in situations like that and those games are hardly easy to carry. Do you think one strong player will make up for four weak unsynced notonts players in a major teamfight? Obviously not, not unless I’m on teamspeak with them calling important stuff. So what is your solution? Splitting and 1v1ing their point defender? If you know anything in this meta at all you know that the standard solution to someone 1v1ing your point is to call the thief to your close point.

You guys have a severe lack of understanding if you think it’s easy to carry randoms vs premades in a game like this. This isnt league of legends, I can’t outplay the top laner to the massive extent where I get fed and 1v2 the top laner and the jungler. This is a game without snowballing.

You guys seriously took the normal game mode of league of legends, the least form of competitive play in league and made that your serious matchmaking mode.

We of course understand that solo players would prefer a separate queue from premade teams, and it isn’t off the table as a future improvement. The trade off here, besides the extra development time, is that high rated solo queuers would get a better experience (never facing premades), at the expense of all team queuers getting a worse experience (longer queue times)

What extra development time?! THE SYSTEM IS IN PLACE! It’s not hard to solve this puzzle, I’ll give you the pieces:
You have two separate tourny ques at this moment. One for 3 round and one for 1 round. In a blog post you guys said that they had separate matchmaking. Paid tournaments previously demonstrated that you guys have the ’’feature’’ in place to force someone to be 5 premade players to que in to the match. You also now have a ‘’join solo’’ button.

If you piece these pieces together you get:

1.Make one tournament que ‘’join solo’’ only, 1 round
2. Make the other que ‘’submit roster’’ with 5 only , 1 round

LE VOILA!
It’s okay, we can scrap the idea of duoq for now. Put that in your ’’soon’’ basket. You can do the same for the random map generator, just keep rotating maps manually the way you guys do every 2 days or something.

There. That is the solution that will allow solo players to play the game without getting stomped by teams.

I agree with helseth the thing is that no matter how well u play u cant beat a premade on voice chat, unless u play grenade engi and do so much area dmg when they try to revive that u will have 4 ppl downed state(not gonna happen agaist 80%+ of the premades). At the moment I don’t see any1 happy with the soloque, because u work to get high mmr and ur reward is to face premades, anyway at least tell us we forced ppl to leave the game by having only 3 ppl working on pvp, so if we seperate the queues then we will have queue problems if thats the case. Also about the fact that it takes development time, yes ofcourse it does it requires testing etc but if u are a team of programmers(more than 2) shouldnt be more than 1 afternoon with testing included (and that is exaggerated).

So initially without seeing all the patch notes I think we were all more than a little upset. The unfinished patch notes just had no clear direction and didn’t accomplish anything we wanted balance wise in the current meta, and probably looked more like a step backwards.

But after we’ve figured out what has actually changed, it’s clear attempts at nerfing or buffing some things we wanted nerfed or buffed (mostly nerfed) were made. Were the changes to cantrip ele’s enough? I honestly don’t know yet, and I can tell you any unexperienced team will still fall extremely easily to the double cantrip ele guardian strat that has been used as of late even after the nerfs. But at the highest level of play, maybe teams like us and curse and others can deal with double cantrip ele guardian well enough now. We’ll just have to wait and see.

The point is they are almost all a step in the right direction. Getting GW2 pvp to the point we all want it at has been a long process we are all tired of waiting for and today we got a little riled up by the mistake anet made by not listing all the patch notes and it’s probably because we are all almost on our last straw with this whole waiting thing.

We’ve waited soooo long but guess what pvp community? This game is headed in the right direction and we are so close to the big pvp patch, just a little bit longer, don’t make all that waiting you have done up until now for naught!

I have to add from all the people i was playing with and they quit the game(90% of the people i played with quited) 90% of them told me that they are willing or that they will come back when the game has more to offer. By more i mean soloqueue, matchmaking(yey we have that), rankings, custom servers, better rewards on tournaments(yes thats how u attract people cause ticket sinking and wasting your time to grind glory is not the way), spectator mode, competition like prize tournaments or FAME tournaments. Thats how u will get many players back and advertise ur game with streams etc.
BTW dont be afraid of releasing a bad spectator mode cause thats a start and u can have feedback how to improve it for free from us or from commentators.
And on the next SOTG if it happens go all in give us dates plans features, u can miss the deadlines u gave us but we will know u work on them not that u dodge our concerns.

3)what is the possition of ANET on bugs that are abused on paid games (exploiting)?
4)Is this game going to be an esport? (bring more casuals/pro players somehow!!!!!) we need at least 100 times the pvp population we now have for the game to become an esport.

what bothers me if you guys keep the same reward system. At the moment everyone is sinking on tickets even PZ even CN everyone will lose a match eventually. If you guys want this game to become a real esport you must not force players to pay to play on the highest competitive level but earn it with their skill. Can we please have either double ticket as first place reward or gems that will be sufficient to keep it going? Ty

1 and also ELO SYSTEM ASAP or something similar for solo queue and team queue!!! and ye f2p seems the only way to advertise this games pvp atm since its losing most of its already existing playerbase on pvp.
2 months ago the tournament queue was popping every 8 seconds at peak hours now its every 3
minutes on average.
