Don’t listen to the trolls. Engi is great and most kits are great. U can’t look at the engi class with tunnel vision and say " I want to use flamethrower and nothin but flamethrower and be successful" that would be like an ele saying I’m going to use nothing but water atunement and then be mad when your DMG blows. Part of the beauty of kits it being able to move in and out of them using certain abilities (not all) to achieve your goal. If u switch to bomb kit in the the middle of a fight it could be to stack confusion with bomb 3 pistol 3 and toolkit 3. or u may be on the run from a zerg shield 2 then switch to toolkit for gear shield then to bomb kit for glue bomb and u could also drop supply drop as your running to aoe stun your persuers. if u switch to a kit and just jam buttons 1-5 then on to the next kit 1-5 u WILL fail. I run power tough and vitality in both spvp and wvw. Wvw I run tankcat in spvp I run turrets and rifle. I solo roam a lot in wvw and the utility/versatility of the engineer is unmatched. Just mess with the kits u like till u find the perfect combo for your play style.

Not quite sure what rehaul means, I’m guessing u mean overhaul and if that is what u mean I don’t think it’s necessary. Yes, we may be a little lack luster in certain areas and riddled with bugs but out class mechanic is fine and fun. More fun than any other class out there in my opinion. All we really need is our bugs fixed and hopefully a buff in DMG and I think we’ll be great.
been debating on what to run in wvw. im not geared by any means for anything havnt had much time to play lately just experimented a A LOT out in the mists. Im trying to get good with Tankcat, but i run heal bombs and EG alot on spvp and want to use it to solo roam with EG bombkit and toolkit, just not sure it would be viable.
would your party not benefit more if u dropped nade kit and picked up bomb kit. you could drop tools down to 10 points just picking up speedy kits and put the remaining 10 into inventions to pick up elixir infused bombs. Just a thought u may have already tried this.
Wait wait wait, so I can transmute heavy armor skins on my medium armor? I thought it was medium for medium and heavy for heavy? If this is true I may shed tears off joy.
Been wating on this patch for a while to decide what i was going to do and not really sure what to do. Really not sure if the grass is much greener on the other side of the fence since i dont like warrior and even though they got nerfed, thieves. so just wondering if any of u will be switching to another class?
actually………. Engineers have it pretty good when it comes to their heals. Im not a big fan of elixir H but when built for elixirs is very good. its a very good heal and when traited for elixir cooldowns brings down from 20 seconds which is decent not to mention the buffs u get with it. Heal turret is great not for just planting it and leaving it up, but for dropping it, getting its initial burst heal and then picking it back up to go on cooldown. reason its so good is bc after picking it back up its CD is only 15 seconds i believe where as u have to trait for it to get anwwhere close to that with elixir H. Medkit is probably what i use most since i find myself usually traiting into the tools line which lowers the CD of all toolbelt abilities. when traited to full 30 in tools it brings your toolbelt heal CD to 15.5 seconds which is great. not quite as great as heal turret, but still great especially if u have a lot of healpower in your build u can drop your medkits and heal fotr 1400 a pack, keep in mind thats with A LOT of healpower which i like to run sometimes. If i seem a little biases its bc ive played mostly engi and only dabbled in other classes, but from the little exp i have with all other classes it seems im able to keep my self healed so much easier with a properly built engi than on any other class. Thats just my 2 cents worth, anywho………

Probably bc super elixir especially super elixir x2 via kit refinement is already pretty potent for survivability. If it were a water field it would hypothetically give u the chance to do crazy healing with blast finishers.
Ran 6 Dwayna runes last night and was just silly. Hands down better than earth. Still undecided on a definite slot 3 utility. I like the idea of confusion stacking but in a lot of situations it’s just so clunky and only effects 1 target. So I may try elixir b again for the boons that will be good against all targets in which I will switch out my alchemy traits to elixir duration and elixir cd reduction. U decided on a heal utility as well. Since ill be trying the alchemy traits I may go to elixir H. I do however love med pack even b4 the Dwayna runes. Love having my big heal on toolbelt when at 25% health all TB skills come off cd. But as far as shear heal numbers go dropping heal turret and immediately picking it back up for the burst heal is the way to go. If u pick it right back up puts it on a 15sec cd without any traits dedicated to it. So honestly heal skill are a toss up for me I feel the engi really does have 3 viable heals. I will try your mixed method of runes later today would be nice to see what we can get boon duration up to.
You’re right it’s not as easy for an engi to have near constant uptime of protection like the d/d elementalist I wish we did have more protection abilities. Maybe it’s just me but it does seem like its up a lot. That accompanied with smoke bomb when protection is down works very well. Also just remembered if u drop big ol bomb or shield 1 in your super elixir field it will grant aoe retaliation. Another option is to run elixir B in place of R or toolbelt in my build for another outlet of retaliation for a little extra dmg, but I’ve found although a little more difficult to pull off, confusion stacking yields more DMG then retaliation. Just more difficult to land prybar and concussion bomb.
@varqov its just bombs. It would be pretty sick on nades especially with 3 nade trait. @duke Was actually looking at those runes today I think I tried them back when I was new to engi so honestly didn’t know what I was doing. I’ll give them a try tonight. I’ll have to admit I am a very big fan of protection over regen though so will be tough to sway me. I love reducing someone’s total dps with prot coupled with elixir gun 1’s weakness cutting they’re crit DMG in half.

I’ve just been trying to find a happy medium for DMG vs tankiness. I’m pretty much unkillable 1v1 with this build but at the same time I can’t kill anyone either bc my damage is so low, but if your wanting a Tanky build I’d say def earth is the way to go. I find if I make the slightest adjustment to this build to make it more lethal its tankiness goes to kitten. I think that build is showing Elixir r for the third utility but I actually switch it out quite a bit with toolkit and try to stack confusion with prybar, pistol 3, and concussion bomb for a little killability, and gear shield is never a bad thing to have.
Puandro, what would the equivalent of your gear be in SPVP, as in what amulet/jewel combo would i need to recreate this?
Finally a wvw video that includes not only a disturbed track but also a Lamb of God track. I’ve thought about making a video using some of LoG’s tunes for so long. Thank u for this,I almost cried. Oh and good ele skills by the way. Can’t wait to get mine leveled up.
Thx everyone for all your input I def. have some things to try and learn. @ Aaron, have they really said this build was too powerful and that they are looking into it? Where is this posted at? If anything I’d say this class needs buffing in other areas to make everyone not want to go bunker.

Hi, my main is a bunker engi. love its durability. i dueled an ele the other night that was just as tanky as i was and it got me wanting to play around with it. I like the looks of a lot of the ele’s abilities on paper, but really know nothing about them. could any okittenind people give me some examples of some tanky defensive ele builds? thanks in advance.
I like to go full vitality/tough for an indestructible E-Gunning, condition cleansing mass bombing weapon of destruction. :p, but if inhad to go one way or the other I’d say tough. Only bc I’ve roled high vitality and had my hps melted so quick which is the main reason I like a tanky build.

yeah i was using the correct abilityjust wasnt double tapping fast enough, got it to work now. didnt know the combo field had such a short duration. thx for the feedback.

keep trying to test this in the mists and cant seem to get it to go off using magnetic inversion as the blast finisher. anyone else encounter this?
