I think 50C for CPU is normal. I have my CPU at 70C. omg.
Source: http://www.buildcomputers.net/cpu-temperature.html

Do note that dusts on the CPU fan drastically reduces it’s efficiency, so you may want to clean up every now and then.

Yes, your mobo supports SLI as per:
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/990FXAGD65.html#hero-specification

And I think you need the same type of card/gpu for SLI:
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/sli/faq#c16

If you’re going to be changing mobo to support intel i5, grab something that supports SLI. It will be expensive, but you can do the SLI later (Christmas is coming anyways, so either bonus paycheck or bonus allowance).

And for the 4 “imaginary” cores – I think they’re called virtual cores. Or I could be mistaken too.)

Quickly looking at the specs, it should run GW2 fine on max settings.
Your GPU is almost the same as mine (I have 650TI) and we have the same issue on large fights.

If you really want the fps boost, go SLI…

And yes, it is supported:

triple trouble: the power of one guild

Just to clarify,

The event is big requiring a large number of players. Requiring (or at least benefiting greatly from) large scale organization including guild, TS, perhaps even commanders.

And there is a guild that is (unless things have changed since last I heard) completely open to people joining just for the event, no need to rep outside of the event, etc, willing to spend the time, money and effort to provide all of this for anyone with a desire to use.

And those who opt to not partake of that offer (and I am not saying they should or should feel compelled to do so) complain that they might be left out. That they are not willing to either join an existing guild set up specifically for this sort of event nor put the effort into creating their own organization (need not be a guild) to do the event ?

Are in fact presenting those who are making the effort for not only themselves but anyone willing to join in as somehow blameworthy when those not willing to organize fail at an event designed around group organization ?

That sounds much like the gist of it. Or perhaps that “this guild is making a serious run of it, they’re required to let me join it”

What throws me off is, doesn’t the guild in question actually allow anyone who is willing to rep during the event to join ? Aren’t they already willing to, “let me join it ?”

You don’t even need to join TTS. You can join the raid repping other guilds, just be on TS.

Sure, TTS members get priority call when switching maps, but other players who belong to different guilds are also given the chance to join them.

In short, you want people to carry you

If we’re going to go there, then I will say that you can easily be carried, even with making the commitment to get on a third party voice chat and listen to someone call out instructions in your ear.

Don’t act like it takes any great amount of personal skill to listen to a voice in your ear and follow the herd.

As far as I can tell, wurm requires a handful of skilled players, strong coordination to kill the heads at the right time, and a bunch of zerglings with good gear and the ability to follow instructions. Go ahead and correct me if I’m wrong, but I seriously doubt I am.

All I’m saying is that if you are “joining” in an organized raid and you’re not the one organizing the raid, at least put an effort to follow the rules they set.

People who act like “I wanna do this but I don’t like going to TS but TS is required wa wa wa” annoys me. Show some respect to the organizers by following their instructions. Not like they are getting paid.

It’s like posting for lfg – “zerk only” and some cleric dude joins, got kicked and QQ’s that the party is elitist. Duh.

big guilds making rules like that is a dangerous trend to get into, today its voice chat maybe tomorrow its a malicious website, its an exploitable thing to have so much power in an outside organization

You’re over thinking it.

It’s not like TTS requires 100% rep. They are not some kind of Illuminati, you know.

So, if you don’t want to join TS, don’t. No one can make you use it by force anyways. But please, don’t QQ if TTS leaves map and leaves you behind. Their raid, their requirements.

Then all of those that can’t do it should create a guild and do the event. It’s not on farm status because it requires more coordination and timing unlike Tequatl which is still a map wide zerg fest.

make a guild? just for one event? now you must see how excessive that is and thus recognize my problem

Or, you know, go to every map and do map chat to call on people and organize a raid by yourself… Your raid, your rules. You don’t like Teamspeak (I don’t know why it is such a big deal)? Don’t use teamspeak on your raid.

Or are you one of the persons that QQ but doesn’t want to take action by themselves? (ie: people who are complaining that zerk groups doesn’t want to take non-zerk in when they can look for their own group)

you would never get the people by calling in map chat for triple trouble and i thin you must know that , so are you ignorant on the subject or jsut deliberatley saying things that cant possibly be helpful?

TTS does that when they can’t reach the number of people needed to organize a run. Or rather they turn in to lfg tool.

Problem with you is that you want to join the run but doesn’t want to play by the organizer’s rules. Then when presented with another solution, you QQ.

Let me get this straight – So basically, you want to join TTS organized raids, without either joining the guild or using TS or both. In short, you want people to carry you (since you’re not fully committed to the organized run).
A bit selfish/entitled on your part eh?

first off i know why they do it, im good at triple trouble and i understand it perfectly, i always volunteer for roles usualy ending up as one of the water ele in the escort team. im not saying its malicious or intentional on their part im saying its exclusionary and opaque.

so lets not try and analyze the “problems” with eachotehr, i am more complex then you are probably capable of understanding and its off topic anyways, dont be so hostile or make so many assumptions

I’m sorry if I sounded hostile.
It also amuses me when people wanted to join on something but doesn’t want to abide by the rules/requirements set by the group.

It’s like seeing a post on lfg “zerk only” and you proceed to join with the almighty pvt/clerics whatnot gear. It’s annoying.

Feedback: World bosses these days

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6132

knives.6132

Worldbosses? I thought they were removed from the game and replaced with a farming factory. Since the megaserver worldbosses aren’t any fun anymore, it’s just 50 people spamming the same spot with no. 1 attacks for 5 minutes and watching a healthbar slowly disappear. With the smaller bosses you don’t even see what you’re shooting at anymore. The worldbosses have just become giant piñatas for loot farmers.

I hate how they’re made to appear in a set order. Make them appear at random so that people can’t make a system out of farming them. Maybe that’ll make them actually play the game instead of just systematically teleport from one piñata to the next.

Oi.

The trouble with that is that, as Colin explained, when you make announcements, and then later have to change or dump those plans because of unforeseen issues (would affect the economy/launching game in a new region/turned out to be much more difficult to implement than first thought), you will have players who snatch up torches and pitchforks and accuse ANet of broken promises. It’s the same negativity, just in a different form.

I do agree that it would be nice to know what ANet is working on, but generally they will only tell us what’s coming when they’re 90% (maybe even higher?) sure that it will be released.

Or you know, people could read up to the end – the disclaimers that says it could change…

Or maybe ANet needs to put those on top, middle and end sections of every announcements. /sarcasm

If they’re not 100% sure than they can’t say something like that. “Oh, we will build this 100% at the and of 2014, but we are not sure 100% – we must test it first”. What is that?!

You can’t say something like that big if you are not 100% sure. If you remember, they also announce the game without grind and what we have now?! It is just a falls marketing, nothing else.

Hence, the disclaimer that everything might change…

If you read up to that part, you should have set a mindset that it may or may not happen, thus not getting your hopes up and we’ll not have this QQ thread.

Oh and don’t get me started on the grind. If Vayne sees it, this might end up 10+ pages. lol jk Vayne. Peace man.

Actually Wildstar is sub and should be on its’ own separate secure server. People are paying for it and should have it. So I will thank them when the sub paying WS players get what they are paying for.

If they are under a DDOS attack, it is likely you CAN NOT get to this forum….

Yeah.. because they are clearly fixing the problem, right? They’ve been getting ddossed for about 4 days straight now without even running a single update. Whilst other games, have already done so.

I don’t think a we’ll see an update on our end – you see, it’s not the client that’s experiencing the flooding, it’s their servers. Updates will be done on the servers, and we’re likely NOT to see it.

You do see them in the end, when the ddos attacks stop obviously.. Every single game that they have been ddosed over the past week have posted at least ONE updates on twitter or facebook or whatsoever to let their actual players know, “You know what guys we’ve updated our security systems to attempt to prevent the attacks”.

Ah jesus I misunderstood your post. I thought you’re referring to an update – as in like a patch where the client downloads stuff.

There is some issue with post processing and effect rendering I assume.
On areas where are no fog or big light effects the fps goes up to 60ish. But if there is an area with even one foggy part or a bigger light source the fps drops drastically.

Also there seems to be some caching issue, when I do a big u turn with my character I get fps spike for a second or two.

There is definitely something wrong with the engine or some incompatibility with the current AMD Beta drivers.

I have Intel drivers and I am experiencing the fps drop when turning quickly.

If the event fails – no reward. Zero. Nada. NONE. I don’t get it why we should even have rewards for failing.

Farming in Orr

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: knives.6132

knives.6132

It’s not an exploit since it’s not breaking any rules. Failure is a legal outcome and part of the game design, and no one used a third party or a bug to make it fail. People are playing by the rules.

It’s not about the intention – their intention is for us to play the game by their rules set upon the world of GW2. I don’t recall any posts/announcement that says we should move heaven and earth to make events successful. I must have missed the memo.

Yeah you did, they made an official statement in the Ember Farm thread (which I would quote for the mass of people here in denial) which has been deleted since I just tried to find their post to link it. It was the exact same situation, deliberately failing an event for greater profit. And yes, not trying to complete an event is the same as deliberately causing it to fail, you have the same end goal you’re just using either inaction or action to achieve it. If anyone thinks otherwise they’re either in denial, lying, or outright dumb. I don’t recall who made the post, but it was clearly stated that what was happening with the ember farm, deliberately failing an event for greater personal gain, was not what they intended for the dynamic event system and does not foster a positive community. Hence the Ember Farm was nerfed.

The problem most of you seem to be overlooking is ALL of these events were designed pre champ box. This particular problem was not something they had to worry about during development, and the number of events that could potentially be abused this way when they first added champ boxes is pretty high. Rather than doing it the more effective way the first time this happened and go through all the events to make sure it could never happen again, they fix it event by event. Maybe it saves them time and labor hours this way. Doesn’t matter, the point is that this particular behavior is not what Anet wants for the game, they will eventually nerf it, and if I happen to be doing events in Orr for fun I’m not going to fail to complete them.

I would wait for that post – oh and it has to be official. If it’s deleted and the post/message of the post can no longer be found on any official sites, it’s no longer valid.

My 2 cents:

It’s NOT an exploit because the event is designed to have 2 VALID outcomes: Success or Fail.
No game mechanic is broken when you purposely fail the event.

I would think the question here is, did ANet make events, any events, with the intention that players would purposely fail them in order to have endlessly spawning mobs to farm?

I would say the answer is no. That they intended players to make every effort to succeed and that events would fail in spite of their efforts. In that case, if players are doing something that ANet did not intend when they made these events, if they are doing so in order to farm in excess of what was intended, then it’s an exploit and players doing so may be suspended or banned or the event changed to stop this farming.

Did ANet intend for zerkers to finish dungeon runs at 7 minutes?
Did ANet intend stacking techniques?
Did ANet intend skipping some bosses/mobs?
Did ANet intend getting to 80 via crafting and not exploring?

See my point? It’s not about how to “ideally” play it – it’s about not breaking the design/rules. Events are designed to have 2 legal outcomes – pass or fail. As long as you play by the rules (ie: you fail it by not stepping inside the red circle, not via something that would make it bug out) – you’re good.

I don’t see anything that “requires/forces” us to finish events. “Ideally”, we should – but we can choose not to because we’re not required to do so.

I thought it’s a “play how you want” thing on Guild Wars 2? As long as you’re not breaking something that is not on the game design/rule/concept…

<rant>

So I created a group – 40+ AC p3.
Here comes the level 80, gets mad on why we are all low leveled and leaves.

I create a group, specifying “no ranged weapons”.
Come first boss, everybody but me is either on bow or guns or staff.

I create a group, EXPERIENCED ONLY. (no, not the acronym, the whole word, on caps)
Come inside – “just tell me what to do”.

OMG.

You guys don’t know anything. Eles in this game are healers, that’s why they are supposed to wear cleric’s. Warriors are DDs, thus berserker gear, but they have high hp and therefore can also be played as tanks/offtanks. Guardians tank and hold aggro, they use either PVT or Nomad’s gear. You’re welcome.

Wait…..
Wat?

Rather than being sarcastic and pointless would someone care to explain to me what’s wrong with wanting to play a support ele rather than a boring kitten zerker warrior?

Nothing unless you force yourself to players who doesn’t like to play along with your build.

I don’t see the AP requirement being a “trend”. I don’t see it growing and I haven’t seen one today – yet.

Maybe it’s my timezone, server or whatnot, but I don’t think it’s a thing.

Then again, their group, their requirement. Create your own lfg, it solves the problem.

[Suggestion] - Add "Order/Pact Missions"
