I am sir_koroshi, I have been streaming since the end of february it has been a lot of fun. I play on Desolation EU and Fort Aspenwood NA. I started out with streaming thief gameplay only, but then I discovered the Engineer. Today I will be streaming for about 8 hours of engineer solo roaming gameplay. My main focus of the stream is WvW gameplay only.

I stream engi wvw every day, actually most of my viewers want to see engi only. Altho I am a solo roaming engi, so no group/zerg play here.

Finally got my NA engi up to level 80, changed up to elixer gun and with the new patch on the turret it made solo roaming so much more fun. Being able to get 3 healing blast finishers in when needed give a lot more extra survivability on top of the extra condi removal from super elixer/healing turret.

Here is one of the fights I had near sm on the day I got 80.

It was a stream highlight we had some fun, thought I would share it.

If they pushed out we would have not been able to do this. Not intended to show off any type of “skill play”.

Whaaat? Someone abusing broken class mechanics? Truly an inspiring video to watch. If only the warrior had a teleport hack..err..‘multiple shadowsteps’.

Sword thieves -or any thief- should try playing other classes where they don’t have multiple get out of jail cards. I suggest a mesmer. An easy transition for someone who relies on the class to win.

You should post it on other game forums so they can laugh as much as I do at the balanced thief class. Kudos to the class Dev team and the player.

Pokemon is the game for you man. This Warrior hiting this Thief with toughness gear for 50-60% HP. This Thief without these defensive skills would be dead in five seconds.

What defensive tactics?

Oh you mean spamming stealth? Teleport hacks(shadowstep)? No cooldowns on weapon skills? Not being removed from stealth when hit? Conjuring stealth on command

It is a weak argument that thief players keep using: Oh if you remove stealth spam we can’t survive! If you remove Shadowsteps we can’t survive.

You already hit as hard as a warrior or more with less set up. Anyone who got hit by a thief can attest to that.

There is an awesome mechanic in the game called dodge. And yes..other classes have it..but they can’t use it if they can’t see the attack coming.

Play a warrior or an engy or a necro and see how long you survive with your current player skill.

Have fun with the broken OP mechanics till people start clamoring for a much needed balance patch after the private arenas/deathmatch is revealed. PvPers will be paying money then and the devs will have to listen and take class balancing more seriously.

I actually do play an engi and I do stream it every day. I have been playing thief since launch and personally feel that thieves are predictable on my engineer.

I have had no problems beating a thief and had nice duels with a thief that was using the same mechanics yesterday (recording is there).. Engi is probably one of the best counters for thief.

My second weapon set is d/d, I only use it when I feel comfortable getting close to the enemy and am certain it is a non-bunker build. Shortbow never did feel right in my hands, same as the whole d/p combo.. It just doesn’t feel right to me.

P/d I might try out sometime soon, it has been on my mind after the 4 sec debuff which made my d/d set a weakness in fights.

It is one of the few times that you do find a nice player to fight against without many interuptions, had so much fun. I did miss many shadowsteps on my sword, but that this something I will have to work on personally. Personally I can not wait until the custom arena’s are out (hopefully not too expensive) so we can have our nice fights without server restrictions.

As an engi you should be destroying thieves in 1 vs 1. Your only problem is stomping them? So instead of stomping use one of your many aoe abilities as an engi? I don’t understand.. i have no problem as engi taking care of any downed thief with my grenades. + as engi you can have your stability or invis with the F1-4 skill of the potion.

I actually might record some engi vs thief footage. So much fun. Dislike wasting the supply drop just for that engage on thief… that aoe stun can save your life.

It is actually very fun. It started out with the question “why I don’t see a lot of engineers in wvw” which then turned me into loving the class. The engineer is actually a strong pvp class.

After playing a thief for many months, I understand the basic patterns which allows me to “bait” thieves to gank me, the second they start the burst, I stack confusion and unleash the grenades. Fights end in less than 10 seconds.

Why not both? I personally use the s/d + d/d and it works great.

I appreciate all the positive comments and feedback. As a thief I feel that improve every day thanks to feedback and see’ing how thieves duel. I still got a long road ahead of me, but enjoying every bit especially when it comes to learning new weapon usage.

i dont know why alot of thieves dont use death blossom against other thieves. i feel like that is the strongest tool against them, in a very stealth heavy fight, im pretty sure alot of people noticed that whoever stealths 2nd usually has the upper hand because u get that split second to catch them with another cnd or a backstab. with deathblossom you can evade their cnd and stay in range to land a cnd on them unlike a dodgeroll.

I will give it a try and see how it works out, thank you for the information.

So you are thinking of switching out the Short bow for a Sword, even though you never swap weapons? Personally I don’t see any thief build that shouldn’t have Short bow, it’s just too kitten good.

Yup some dodges get wasted and I do use them to predict movement was not meant as an excuse, yes I also use them as movement (should have added that in my last comment my bad^^). Like I said before i am used to the extra vigor/endurance regen which allowed me to dodge far more. I have to relearn not to use my dodges that often.

On shortbow part, yes i do not use it enough because personally i do not like the weapon that much, I rarely use it on thieves in the shadow refuge I know it is good since it affects the entire refuge while i have to search with my daggers just to see that second attack motion. If i personally do not want to use it that is my decision alone even if it means that I will never be able to get the full potential of the thief.

On the white circle since you keep bringing that up, yup I know it means a shadowstep and at this moment i cant check the footage, since I am not at home so will not defend it. It was stupid.

ps: This footage was taken from the first thief duels i could find in the stream recording. I did not try to show off my skill, most of these thieves were on the stream in the chat talking and wanted to duel with me. We had a great time, the elona thief at the start is on my friendlist and we still talk. He had fun dueling and that is all that matters. Very nice guy.

I’ll have to say you should really improve in various aspects:

1. Awareness – Thief shadowsteps away from you and you attack the WHITE circle? Come on, thats a rabbit mistake.
2. Movement – You backpeddle too much.
3. Dodging – TOO MANY wasted dodges. Dodge is your lifeline, DO NOT use it for movement. It’s somewhat excusable IF you have swift/might on dodge and by having that you also have that extra dodge.
4. Shortbow – USE IT! Most of the time its better than the daggers themselves. Clusterbombing an obvious stealthed enemy is better than waving around your dagger or wasting precious initiative trying a luckshot CnD. Stealth for a surprise shot snare and then do a CnD->Steal->Stab combo or even Clusterbomb him. It pains me to see a thief Heartseeker out of stealth when there are better options.

There’s not much to say, unimpressive gameplay. Too much stealthing, no skillshot combos, no overplaying, oponents were god-awful.

I appreciate the feedback, just recently started playing the thief again after playing warrior/mesmer for months. I actually am thinking of switching out the shortbow for the 1h sword, loving the increased mobility/daze/root.

On the dodges you are right here still used to my old build with the vigor buff and 40% endurance regen food, I use the dodges when i try to predict the attack.. this does not work all the time, but in thief battles i feel that it does make a difference.

All I wanted to do is provide some thief duels i had in WvW buffs or not buffs thats how i fight in EB. If you feel it isn’t upto your standard so be it.

Here is my thief roaming stream in eb (3,5 hours without edits), I die a lot of times. I just don’t think people are interested in a thief video with a lot of deaths. What i tend to do is just cut the video where the most action is and jump straight to next. Kill after kill.

A big number of players don’t notice they are being hit until their health is below 70%. As a d/d thief it makes for easy kills.

The gear is crafted with leatherworking its the exotic gear valkyrie emblazoned. I transmuted the crafted gear with the nightmare armor from twilight arbor. The jewelry are all crafted and the back piece is from the story quest. The 2 daggers are from Citadel of flame and my bow i have actually gotten an upgraded version is from WvW tokens cost me about 395 I think.

You can buy anything for transmuting, but it has to be the ones that you spend tokens on not money or you might buy the wrong one! look for the second tab for the token nightmare set.

Spvp gear is seperate from wvw and pve, spvp gear is only wearable in heart of the mist. If you do every path once every day you get about 180 tokens you need around 1200 tokens.

Twilight armor (nightmare set) is not my actuall equipment its transmuted with:

So the entire valkyrie emblazoned set. Its crafted with 400 leatherworking. You can buy them ~2 gold each piece if you are lucky. If you farm orichalcum every day by following this map:

I honestly wonder if the other people watching the video saw the same things I did. In my eyes you spam Dancing Dagger more than any other move (I do too, when I use daggers) and you only really used Heartseeker to finish people off (as intended by Anet) so I don’t know what the haters are on about.

Dancing dagger is one of my favorite skills, it does crazy amount of damage especially when its 2 or 3 enemies near eachother. Sometimes i go too much on it tho.. ending up with no initiative, but thanks to my build that doesn’t stay too long! You are right if you look very closely HS is my least spammed skill. I love to hear constructive criticism, “hating” i ussually don’t take it too serious.

I’ll say this, though. Some of the music was kind of generic, and quite a bit of it either wasn’t synced properly or there was some other problem that I can quite put my finger on. Blood Sugar especially sounded really weird; maybe it was a different mix or something.

This would probably be on my end, I am still playing around with codecs haven’t found the right one yet. Music is right now my biggest weakness in editing, i hardly ever listen to music and because of that it makes the search for music much longer. Hopefully with some more experience in editing this problem will go away. The thing what most annoyed me was i couldn’t get my music to sync well as in.. when jumping from clip to another.

One tip – Against that necro, when you ran in with shortbow, if you had dropped poison field to start the fight it would have helped bring him down more quickly. With poison field stacking ~8-10 seconds of poison, his heal would have been reduced in effectiveness, and he would have gone down more quickly.

I completely agree! I know how usefull the skill is, but in the heat of battle its the skill i skip the most ( which is a bad thing! ). Its bad on my part and hopefully i will be able to fully utilize it in future fights.

Solo WvW is useless.

Basically your videos shows a guy taking a WvW slot and accomplishing nothing useful, congrats you are helping your server loosing !

I am guild leader of Attack of the Zombies, we run small rogue squads constantly for supply camps as soon as they are available. I have not yet decided to create guild videos, but that might actually be a good idea.

You will only see me solo when the guildmembers are doing something else and are too busy to come to wvw. I understand you might not see it as a “contribution” to wvw, but you could look at it in a different view like Tulisin.6945 said I do cap supply camps solo but its at a slower speed than if i would be with my guildmembers. I ussually cut off players trying to reach the zerg be it one or multiple players.

First of on the skill notice i have used every skill except for number 3, which is more for a condition thief. If you look closely you will see me spam throwing dagger more than i use number 2. Especially since the throwing dagger bounces 3 times between 2 targets close to eachother it does quite the damage.

I agree the intro wasn’t as optimal, but at this moment i am trying to create a unique intro, but time will tell if i will succeed in it as it has to do with 3d modeling. My idea behind the intro is to introduce the thief (looks/items and some minor movements). I will try to update the intro into a more of an inviting intro for the next video.

Benny hill, pick was due to lack of music that i have experienced. ( I hardly ever listen to music so that was the only one that came up). Music is one of the big points i will have to fix for future videos also the transition between music you can hear this right after the intro the music just starts loud, while a simple fade in and out would have fixed that.

I have gotten multiple feedbacks about showing more of a “well played” opponent instead of players who aren’t optimal geared. I will try to add clips of single fights.

- FPS, not yet.. hopefully in two weeks.
- Figure out a way how to remove the chat without having big logo placed on it.
- Video editing overall.
