It’s the Christmas present you always wanted, but never received.
It must be Mini John Smith.
… i will never ever exchange my gems, gems i bought with hard earned money…
ah, so you’re saying that if i want to buy something quite expensive i need to waste about a year of farming just to get it?
oh and btw, when i buy gems and exchange it for gold i earn it just as much, the difference is that the exchange is screwing the real money payers and promoting the gold farmers, the one thing Anet should reverse.
If you never use gems -> gold anyways, why does this bother you? In any case, you can farm gold either in game, or in real life. Decision is yours.
If you think system is “promoting the gold farmers”, then why don’t you farm gold yourself in game, since it encouraged so much? However, you contradict yourself saying “i need to waste about a year”, so you also think that farming gold takes a long time.
Expensive things usually take effort to get. The type of effort varies from player to player.
Thanks Myar.1690, that helped a lot. Problem solved.
I have exactly the same problem.
to me it feels cheap to buy a precursor. I dont think precursor’s or legendaries should be sold on the TP.
How is getting precursor from throwing random stuff to mystic forge more legendary (or less cheap), than working towards certain amount of gold, and buying one?
omg NO it is NOT just cuz a net do not punish ppl do not make it legal o_o
tp flipping is GAME ABUSE ! IT HAVE NOTING TO DO PLAYING THE GAME !jesus
First reading this, and then reading your signature, is one of the best ironies I’ve found so far on these forums.
So, rather than pleasing the majority of the player base, they should please the 5 people who actually want to sell lower than the highest buy order? That’s a terrible defense for Anet’s solution to the “problem”.
It really does seem like, as was mentioned above, Anet just doesn’t know how to code it properly so they take the easiest path and set themselves to ignore mode.
I agree, as defense it is terrible. However, I don’t see a need for defense. If player is careless enough to ignore double-checking the price (s)he typed on expensive item, it is not Anet’s fault.
It should automatically sell it to the lowest bidding.
Not long ago we had forum poster saying that he didn’t understand why he can’t sell an item for whatever price he wants, and he said there were “full maps” of people with the same mindset. Well, now they can, and they should be happy for that.
The point is, no matter what Anet does, they can’t please everyone.
It would be interesting to see if this was implemented, and if there were enough people who are tired with “1c undercutting”. Like others have suggested, I’d think prices would increase instead of decreasing. Buy orders would be set to “nice and round” numbers (e.g. 2.50, 10.00, 150.00 etc), because those orders would be filled faster, and would be cheaper than 2.49, 9.49 and 149.00.
Again, since there would be enough people who are happy to buy for 5.00, 20.00 and 250.00 instead of an arbitrary 229.49, we might see a slight upward shift on both sides of the price. Would everyone be happy then? No. We would see more threads, where players are bashing TP barons, greed of others, inflation and whatever else.
Even though this curiosity would be interesting, I don’t want to see limited resources spent on this change – not before TP UI is reworked.
I wouldnt recommend players to spam chat trying to sell items. Not only can they be ripped off, it’s also violating game rules and they can be reported and, depending on the severity, banned for it.
I do understand this. However, it is quite apparent that VideoGamermike (and to some extent, OP too) does not want to use TP at all, because it is not working in a manner he and “entire maps” would prefer. Since TP is out of the question, this leaves very few ways for trade. Unfortunately, these ways will inevitably result in unwanted actions and behaviour.
I see it as a price and risk one must take, if he/she does not want to use safe and efficient TP.
Short of reworking the TP, only viable option is to form the aforementioned guild. That would be mildly interesting experiment; they would become a conglomerate of “anti-TP-barons”, who would only trade with and between very limited group of people (I highly doubt that even combined, they would have power to lower the price of any good to what they deem “fair price”). While this kind of trade is extremely inefficient, resulting in severe scarcity of great amount of goods, it would allow them to have full control of the price.
And then, soon or very soon, someone would take an advantage of this, and relist all the items to TP with ~market price.

4) I am not the only person who feels this way, and I have talked to entire maps at once that literally abandoned the TP because of lack of real control, and insane prices with no real hope of fixing anything. Thus, the market system is pushing people away because of major flaws and lack of ability to adapt. Thats not efficient, its broken.
Why don’t you start a guild with all those likeminded people, where you can trade between people in guild using whatever prices you (personally, or collectively as guild) agree to be fair?
If that is not an option, you can always go to Lion’s Arch, or other in-game hub and do good old map-chat advertising of the goods you want to sell for the price you’ve set.
I keep buying up all dusks on the tp since feature patch to build an iron throne for my flying mount.
I’m buying them to build a throne to myself.
992 Dusks bought & reforged, still missing 8.
Fungeons should be pink and cloudy and marshmallow-like.
Pinkish marshmallow might be OP though.
Another monthly I can’t complete, because of the reasons given below.
I don’t do any WvWvW, I hate dungeons because everyone else is probably just a undergeared/skilled player, and I have never been in fractals because they just suck. I don’t want to kill mobs because it is a time waster, and also salvaging is just another gold sink. All jumping puzzles are too hard to find and complete, and it takes too long time. Events are full of event skippers so I don’t want to do those either.
That being said, I can’t get any dailies done either. Why would I res npcs; if they were stupid enough to get killed in the first place they deserve to stay defeated until server restart. Underwater combat is extremely slow and boring. Since I solo I can’t finish combo field daily. Crafting is just lame and another gold sink. Veterans are too hard to solo. I don’t want to gather worthless pieces of ore or wood when I explore around. And don’t tell me slaying 15 different mob types is exactly fast or easy…
Why can’t they add challenging, awesome and fun dailies / monthlies, like “add 10 people to your friend/block list”, “log off 15 times”, “stand idle in Lion’s Arch for 20 mins”, “get 5 grey vendor item trash drops from mobs”, “talk to 2 different Black Lion Trading Post representatives” or “open yet another ’Dailies/Monthlies are horribad QQ -thread” and “QQ about dailies in 5 different threads”.
My feedback:
new area is always welcome, new dungeon to do is great thing, events are fine but very laggy. New item tier was a horrible decision, but outright lying and ignoring community is even worse. Apparently those customers who spent money to gemshop weren’t the most dedicated ones. I, for one, won’t spend anything there anymore.
First post to the forums, been reading maybe 100 pages of posts here so pretty much all what I would have said has been said already. I just want to add my voice to those who are not happy to see this change taking place. If I wanted to grind for better gear I would still be playing Rift.
Also, it is interesting to see that those who like introduction of new item tier have not said if they spend money on gem shop (at all). However, several who are against this have given some numbers — some rather big! — and also a prompt “not anymore”. I have been using gemshop as a kind of “monthly subscription” to Anet so I could show my gratitude for the wonderful game they had created. Like many others, I will not do that anymore.
