Legendary weapons

Yeah, exactly … so how can you complain about weapons that aren’t being delivered that might not be suitable to you? That doesn’t make sense. It’s also silly to say there is a content drought for legendaries if there is lots of legendaries to craft. It’s not a drought if the water is there and you aren’t willing to drink it.

So when Anet announces that they will halt all PVE development and focus solely on PVP, you are fine with that, because there’s still endless amount of PVP matches to play?

Wow, so Anet already played their Bunny Ears card, SAB (temporary) card, and Alpine BL card (which will come sometime later this year/decade). Someone at Anet HQ must be panicking and hard.

So much smoke and mirrors, so little actual permanent content, and once smoke dissipates and majority realises that Alpine BL (or anything else) is not coming anytime soon, there are only mirrors left to shatter.

Awesome decision, Legendary Mike!

While you’re making these brilliant moves, could you also repair/redesign some features that work just fine and don’t need any repairing or redesigning? Because it is Anet’s trademark, is it not – to fix stuff that is not broken. Also, it provides new and exciting content which everyone enjoys.

You could start with something small and easy, like removing auto-loot, and ability to jump. I mean we have gliding, which is the awesomest thing since omnomberrypie, and no-one jumps anymore. Mystic forge could also be completely redesigned, along with all the current recipes. Be sure to delete all items gotten with old recipes, so players would have exciting and fun time discovering and creating the same items they had with completely new methods! I estimate this would require maybe 80-90 devs.

WvW ranks could be redesigned, but be sure to reset the ranks as well. What could be more fun than gaining the ranks again. This improvement would require some nerf to be in balance, so maybe remove 90% of the items in wvw rankup reward chests and limit item quality to max green. Also, you will make all wvw-players really happy by doubling the amount of dev-force committed to wvw by assigning the second wvw-dev. Just remember to hype this!

Certain things in starter areas could use some complete redesign, some of which could easily be expanded to effect all Tyria. Say, the dark green shade in some trees is not quite right. Maybe a modest force of 60-90 devs could be assigned to redesign this green shade. This improvement is asked all the time I’m in the game; I’ve seen map chats filled with positive comments about this suggestion, so surely you have some metrics to back up this request. As for starter areas, to make this more impactful, stone and rock compositions could use some more variation.

I have several more good suggestions to give. In fact, I agree that you should not only to put legendary weapons to indefinite hold, but also freeze all further commitment to wvw, pvp and pve and focus on extremely important things I’ve mentioned. Keep the gem store folks tho, because they are invaluable.

If you do these things, or even half of them, I promise that I may or may not buy gems in regular intervals to support the company, and I definitely promise I will maybe consider buying the next expansion which contains all these things and more!

Shared Inventory is a good idea and very useful. But I bought several salvage-o-matic before and now they are all useless. I hope Anet to consider that and give some compensate for our expend and effort.

I have some top secret information to you and to others in similar situation. If shared inventory slots make your stuff useless, then… drumroll

Dont’ buy shared inventory slots! That way your old stuff is still useful! Not only all those extra salvage-o-matics and tools and whatever are magically worth their thousands of gems again, but you also saved 700-2800 gems for future purchases!

Awesome idea from Anet and very reasonably – almost too cheaply – priced. 2800 gems is only ~520 gold, which is very easy to gather up. No need to buy gems with RL money.

Also, finally there’s a point for buying silver-fed salvage-o-matic and some other QoL things.

Anet: hai gaisz, we want you to preorder a bag of stuff. We have three different deals!

Players: oh, wow?

Anet: yeah! It is so awesome. First bag of stuff costs 50!

Players: hmm sounds pricey, what’s in it?

Anet: stuff! It is awesome!

Players: ok, what about the other two bags?

Anet: well, second bag contains stuff and fluff. And it costs 1,5 times as much as first bag of stuff.

Players: … and the last one?

Anet: the last one, ok, that’s the most awesome. If contains stuff and FLUFF! With capitals! And it is very cheap, only twice the price of first bag, but the FLUFF is easily worth of all that extra.

Players: ok. But could you tell a bit more about the stuff in the bags?

Anet: well, for starters, we’re excited about the stuff and it will be awesome. But the biggest thing is that… You will get the core game for FREE!

Players: but we already have the core game, so surely we can give it to our friends so they can try out the game?

Anet: no, because the FREE core game is linked with stuff! It can’t be taken away because reasons. But the stuff is going to be awesome. And let’s not forget the fluff, or the FLUFF in most expensive bag of stuff.

Players: that sounds pretty … dumb.

Anet: but think about all the stuff! And also, you may or may not receive FREE feature updates! We can’t tell you anything really yet, but we’re very excited about it all.

Players: ok, but when do we get our bags of stuff?

Anet: we can’t tell you yet, other than when they are ready.

Players: will it be next month? This Fall? This year? Next year?

Anet: only thing we can say is that we will deliver all awesome bags of stuff once they are ready.

We felt that current algorithm was too harsh for premades, because they won only 50% of the matches against other premades. This change should guarantee 100% win rate for premades. Remember that this is still in beta and we might adjust it again.

Can we get a response about the Lag

in Account & Technical Support

kuittaa.7360

From here, please include the following in the description of the issue:

- Your ISP
- Which data center you’re connecting to (North American or European)
- Your OS (including if you’re running on 32 bit or 64 bit)
- Whether the lag is intermittent or consistent (include times with time zones that you notice it’s worse, if applicable)
- Where you’re located (state/province)

This is ridiculous. Do you guys at Anet really think that the problem will magically vanish, if you keep asking the same thing over and over again every 2-3 months? Protip: you guys might actually try to do something, instead of asking same things fifth time.

Oh wait. Anet is perfect, everything at Anet is running perfectly, and the fault is always on customer’s end, so there’s no need to do anything. And you guys expect us to buy gems and further support your stance of “we’re the best and perfect, it is always your fault”?

Traits Part 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

My guess is that new trait system = reset (lock) all opened traits on all characters + double unlocking costs on the current system and keep it same otherwise, or reset (lock) all opened traits on all characters + make traits buyable from gemstore only. At the same time, remove option to convert gold to gems.

Latter would be extremely exciting, less confusing, more streamlined, what metrics and new player feedback clearly show and as a bonus, it would encourage people to explore BLTP.

If several players from different countries are experiencing ~100% packet loss at NCSoft servers/routers then it is hardly player’s fault, and players really shouldn’t be punished if they get disconnected because of this. Also, you could (if you haven’t done already) check with Gaile and/or team for more info about this.

To remove someone using hacks (teleports, speed, etc) we have to witness the act in game so you must use the in-game reporting tool. The only exception is if you can point us to chat where the player cheating has said they are using a 3rd party program.

So people getting caught on stream (live one with real time viewers) is not enough. People admitting in chat they are hacking is not enough, if they spesifically don’t mention that they are/were using 3rd party program(s). Now since this is the case, how is it possible to use hacks (teleports, speed, etc) without 3rd party programs?

But this really explains why hackers or other bad apples are never banned (unless their actions directly affect to gems sales). “We must be able to see it ourselves in the game in live environment” and “you must point us to the chat where player said they used spesific program to cheat” are just… Absurd, and extremely hilarious at the same time. Regardless, an honest thank you for an explanation why reporting hackers with or without links to streams with timestamps are worth nothing, why reporting itself is pointless and waste of time, and why nothing is ever happening to hackers.

Update on anet work for dungeons

kuittaa.7360

If anyone remember that drama with the 2 tards who stole Enaretos’ ( Sam) instance, and were “banned” according to anet, they were online yesterday. Thoughts?

Also inb4 infraction.

They have been online for a long time now, and in dungeons (and elsewhere too).

They probably just didn’t tow the party line with respect to only calling temporary bans suspensions, and only referring to indefinite/permanent bans as bans. In fact, I can’t quite remember them saying anything about any kind of ban or suspension. It was more like ‘showed them the door’, and other similar language, depending on which case one might refer to.

Maybe they intended to be deliberately misleading, but I sincerely doubt that is the case. It’s insanely easy to use imprecise language and for someone to then interpret something from that which was not intended (and even something that wasn’t even actually stated).

Basically, you steal, cheat, or be a general baddie and I’m coming with my Account-Focused Stun-Lock Cannon.

It doesn’t mention ban at all, and apparently, at best, it only means 72 hour suspension. Also, read this post and answers below (still no mention of ban): https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-owner-sometimes-required/page/5#post4426646

All you need to play GW2 is a hand with two fingers and one additional bodypart.
The trick is to choose the right profession.

How to succeed in GW2:

1. Roll a warrior or a guardian.
2. Use the hand with at least two fingers and push both mouse buttons to move in any direction.
3. Keybind all weapon skills randomly on all keys of your keyboard.
4. If you get close to an enemy, smash whatever bodypart you have chosen (not the hand with the two or more fingers you need for the mouse) on your keyboard (I prefer the head).
5. Loot.

It is pretty much as simple as that.

I followed these instructions and suggestions to the letter, and while the success was immense, I got stuck on 5. I can’t loot anymore, since all my keys are bind on random weapon skills. This is so confusing and I have sent support tickets too, but they have gone unanswered. I also reported this as a game-breaking bug.

Please help.

Lotro is owned by Turbine which I found to be entirely greedy. Games like SWToR and pay to walk. You can’t even get a second skill bar without paying to unlock it. Lotro has professions locked out by a pay wall, and areas. DDO has dungeons and classes and races locked out by a pay wall.

Sure those games may have come out with more content. But you pay for that content. It’s not free content.

It’s a daft comparison.

Not entirely true. Turbine offered lifetime subscriptions in Lotro for fixed amount of money. If I recall correctly, that sub was equal to about 15-16 months of subscription. Using myself as an example, I haven’t paid a dime to Turbine after buying the game and lifetime subscription, and thanks to that, I have access to all the content (classes, dungeons, quests, areas) they have released so far. Additionally, I still have leftover free “gems” (using GW2 terms here) to spend on their “gemstore”.

Taking this to GW2, I would have all the game, content, ~20+ char slots, all the bank slots (with bags), all the costumes and skins and majority of other gemstore items. Additionally, I would be given a chunk of free gems (about 500) every month.

If I had spent same money to gems, as I did to Lotro’s lifetime subscription, I would have gotten maybe about ~12k gems. I couldn’t even buy half of the costumes/clothes in gemstore with that.

If I commit a bunch crime in the real world, but only ever get caught doing the latest crime, with no actual proof that I have committed the earlier crimes. Should my punishment also take into consideration the earlier crimes that I might have done, even if I was never punished for those crimes?

The punishment record is what matters (at least in the real world) not how many potential crimes you might have done in the past.

First, on that deleted thread were more than one person, who said that these two stole their dungeons. While you might argue that “anyone can say that these two stole their dungeons”, I don’t think those who frequent this subforum are doing false accusations like that.

Second, Security and Customer Support can check their actions, if they can be bothered to check their logs. So, in game, whatever you do leaves a mark to the logs, unlike in real life.

By not taking any evident action against players like these, Security and Customer Support are silently supporting these players and their actions. They give a signal, that players can do absolutely anything they want (as long as it is not manipulating BLTP; see case snowflake exploit), and they are especially free to harass, scam, and steal from other players.

Are you, dear lordkrall.7241, actually supporting behaviour like this as well?

Edit: this is what were were told to:

I wanted to let you know that Security and Customer Support were able to investigate the issues and those involved in wrong-doing have been dealt with.

Both are (happily) playing the game, as nothing ever happened. I hope Security and Customer Support realises that sometimes a stark face with forefinger “no-no” is not enough. Maybe that stream wasn’t solid enough evidence. Maybe Security and Customer Support don’t support any third party evidence and ignore anything (including screenshots) like that.

What is evident however, is that players like those two “who were dealt with” can do absolutely whatever they want without any fear of any kind of sensible punishment. Security and Customer Support are basically just encouraging and supporting in-game behaviour similar to what these two players were doing.

So disappointed, or rather, digusted (once again) with Security and Customer Support.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

I’m a pure PvE player, who has chosen to roleplay total pacifism and neutrality. Thus, I can’t complete 3 dailies under new system. WvW and PvP are by default not acceptable to me. I can’t harvest anything, because it would break my pursuit of trying to achieve total neutrality (it would interrupt the way of the nature; tearing plants up their roots is very cruel). Killing anything is beyond my comprehension, so I can’t complete any fractals or dungeons. In fact, I can’t travel anywhere outside the major cities and home instance, because no matter where I go, I see other players slaughtering other people, animals, creatures and trees mercilessly. However, I respect their choice of playing the game, and I hope they respect mine.

Also, I can’t do any jumping puzzles since I’m afraid of heights, and vistas just make my head spin. I’m not good with pressing keys, so activities like dodging and bell choir are totally out of question. I will not use mystic forge, because it tempts players to gambling and demonism. I know there are many others like me, I have spoken to several and they all have agreed.

I can complete some events, mainly escort ones, if someone who I am escorting falls down and I can revive him/her/it. I can do crafting dailies; after all, some vegetable foods are meant to be cooked and eaten. Naturally I can interact with other people and npcs. So, under the old system, I was able to get at least one achievement point every day by doing what I was normally enjoying to do in the game. Under the new system I can’t get any points at all.

I have seen so many others asking for more options for dailies. Give more dailies like “talk to laurel vendor”. Let us to interact with other npcs, like “talk to guild banker”. Give daily achievement and reward for interacting with BLTP. Add more of “revive” -dailies. Give rewards for roleplaying, like whispering to other players. Please give me an option to get my daily done in the way I have chosen to play the game. I don’t want to change anything on my style, because I play for fun and not as my third job.

Only new item will be A Glorious Box, which contains Magnificent Bag, which once opened gives Gilded Purse, and inside of it players will get three Silvery Chests and three Ivory Chests. These can be opened. Inside will be 1-3 Pouches of the Festival, and 1-3 Sacks of the Festival. These containers hold an extremely rare Ascended Cache of Ascended Materials, and more common Fine Cache of Fine Materials. Once opened, players can choose which Coffer of Ascended Material to have, and which Coffer of Fine Materials to have. Once chosen, players can double-click the Bundles of Ascended/Fine Materials, and receive 1-5 pieces of chosen items. Fun, exciting and extremely rewarding!

  • Is the part of the game working smoothly? If yes, then change it completely. If not, then keep it as it is.
  • Is the part of the game currently bugged? If yes, then keep it as it is. If not, then change it a lot.
  • Have players requested any change to the part of the game? If not, then change that part completely. If yes, then keep it as it is.
  • Are players happy with activity? If yes, then make it a lot worse! If not, then make it slightly worse.
  • Are players neutral with activity? If yes, make it worse! If not, then make slightly worse.
  • Are players unhappy with activity? If yes, then make it slightly worse. If not, then make it worse.
  • Are players writing to forums and express their unhappines? If yes, then keep it as it is. If not, then make it worse.
  • Has the change we’re going to introduce been asked by players? If yes, then scrap the change completely. If not, then make the change as fast as possible.
  • Is the new change probably fun for majority of players? If yes, then redesign the change. If not, then make it as fast as possible.

Thus, this change to Toypocalypyse makes perfect sense. It fits to their design philosophy perfectly, just like most of the other changes.

Also, it is rather interesting that you state, that the proper way to do dungeons is to kill every mob. Could you please where official post/statement about this can be found?

No, I never stated killing every mod in a dungeon is the correct way, I said it is my way, stop making stuff up, read what I type or don’t answer at all. I typed it out in large detail, its impossible that you don’t get it with this amount of detail, so just quit trolling. You know what I typed and mean.

I wasn’t trolling, I was referring to these:

and every group I went with ether knew how to fool the npc’s, sneak past most enemy’s or just use special techniques to cut corners, that is NOT the way a dungeon is supposed to be played,
when I enter a dungeon I wan to kill EVERYTHING in that dungeon, not slip past walls to evade the enemy and then stand close together while spamming AOE to kill whatever steps up to you. Or going in stealth every corner we pass to slip past a entire mob of enemy’s, thats boring.

my means is to kill anything in my path, PROPERLY play the dungeon instead of skipping true everything.

OP: what if I want to solo these “tough” dungeons? If dungeons adjusted themselves to the number of players in the group, I couldn’t do that anymore?

Or do you mean that the current dungeons, the ones we have now, should remain as solo dungeons, and we’d get “tough” dungeons for group content?

Also, it is rather interesting that you state, that the proper way to do dungeons is to kill every mob. Could you please where official post/statement about this can be found?

(Also, (demi-god) power-wise, there isn’t equipment above ascended.)

+1.

Might add that the only reason why custom exchange was brought back was 3rd party websites giving negative criticism. Players & reactions on forums didn’t matter at all.

I completely feel the same way: when making one step forward (e.g. retraiting is possible everywhere and without cost) they are making hundred steps back (trait unlocking change).
