Hello,
1. In real competetive games, mistakes lead to death or a huge disadvantage. In GW2 mistakes lead to nothing. You can fail dodge as often as you want and wont die, even if you 1v2 with a tank nothing will happen. My idea:
Lower defensive specs. Currently, most fights (1v1) can not be won by a player if both are anywhere near to be at the same level (which is the case for 90% of GW2 gamers). You can make many mistakes but your cd’s will be up in time, so the enemie can’t punish the mistakes. This leads to 10 minute long fights which are boring for everyone. No one should say he wonders that just few people watch GW2 ESL games (it is more exciting to watch wet color turn dry).
I do not agree with the Original Post because. Real competitive games allow for mistakes and such mistakes do not always lead to death or “huge disadvantages”.
Before playing Guild wars 1 a few centuries ago, I played counter strike 1.6, and counter strike source (CS:S) at a semi competitive level (yes before the days of twitch and Counter Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO)).
I personally think that counter strike (all versions) is the most competitive PvP game out there and if you actively watch or play it you can easily see in a team fight or 1v1, someone get shot but the “defensive spec” (aka armour) enables the player that made the mistake to live another day. Of course this is different with a headshot…
So to an extent, GW2 is like any other competitive game in terms of giving some allowance to player error in PvP.
Oh I am beginning to miss Counter Strike… One of the best competitive games ever… There is no match making craziness or meta changes every other month. Simple game, and lots of fun and serious skills required… I digress.
The system is obviously broken. It really is, and should not be like this.
hmmm yes i should do that. but the mini map can be quite cluttered at times. especially if mesmers are throwing illusions around.
Good point actually. That scenario is very real!
That would be epic if they did that BUT it will put more pressure on their MMR algorithm if that happens leading to increased Queueing times (<—- that I do not mind).
Imagine if everyone blocks everyone they hate or don’t like or just thing they are bad. xD
Make your minimap bigger! It is perfect as it is and you can already see who is there what and what class they are against.
Dragon Rank get my vote +1
AND remove daily awards from Ranked PvP. Keep it at unranked. This way people fight in ranked for just the league and people have a motivation to fight in unranked if they feel it is “beneath them” to play unranked.
My theory is that
To win as a solo player, you have to know these things. It’s like knowing the dance steps to a complex dance that varies, but has to be done as a group.
Disagree! No matter how great you are, if your mmr is low (and there are many reasons why mmr can be low including absence from ranked) and you are with 4 “Kittens” who are there to fill the numbers by the MMR system and are clueless about PvP, and you are against players as great as yourself (ie map rotation, awareness, skilled at 1v1, survival tactics), you are “kittened”!
I suspect that a lot of these knowledgeable solo players have joined teams, or stopped playing because without other talented solo players on their team, they cannot win.
Very true indeed!

When last was GW2 Beta Client Updated for OSX?
This is a question for the devs because if you run gw2 beta client through imac alone and no other way, it crashed randomly including in PVP therefore leading to desertion, dishonor and potential loss of pip.
This is not Apple’s fault! I am not a fan of Apple but on this occasion the actual problem lies with the beta client!
Looking forward to a response.

My opinion,
Anet can do new ESL without HOT
It will more popular.
That would be fun!
I don’t have problem that players can keep their Division. If every Division have it’s skill level. Low-med skilled shouldn’t be able to abuse get to highest divisions.
I’ve made Diamond s1 and been 3 pips away from Legendary solo at the end of the season.
It’s a joke how easy to kill most of these Legendary players. I shouldn’t be able to kill Legendary players that easy in a good system if i only got to Diamond div solo. The bad thing is the pvp titles are missleading. There are better players stuck in Diamond than most Legendary players. Very little % of Legendary players are actually good players.
I hope the pvp system in s2 will work a bit better.
I totally agree!
Afk players are the most annoying things in PvP however,
Look at the streams on twitch and even pro league players that are sponsored by Anet to stream on twitch (I will name one person —> noscoc) afk cos they are not happy with what the team is doing in unranked. If Anet sponsors such players and they purposely afk, then the reporting of afk is pointless. End of.
Where did you get that info from because I am still awake trying to find out when the season starts.
I also was in a match with a 300AP ranger who everyone thought was a bot cos the poor person stood in the middle of a fight doing nothing but rotating around using buttons “d” and “a”, taking 2 steps forward and standing still till either they were killed or we won the fight (ie shall we say admiring the scenery). The whole team were reporting the player (and asking opponents to report the player) for botting until I checked the AP and realised it was a relatively brand new player!
What kind of a rating system allows for this!? Ok, it is unranked but my goodness do not place such a person with experienced people… isn’t that common sense? Or is common sense not common anymore? And people wonder why PvP is so salty… when players are in such a situation it is so easy to misjudge and become salty not really realising that the poor player is new and in a wrong match not due to their fault but rather an implementation of a system that does not work!
Simple solution
Work out a system that places such a person with other new players and players slightly (within a 10% margin) above them so they can battle at their own pace, rather than let down a whole team full of exp players!
Also second point#
I was amazed to see a barely 2k AP legendary division player who was new to the game, not a secondary account, and also only knew some aspects of dragon hunter and no other class. Is this really legendary? This does not give any confidence whatsoever about the league system at all. Do not get me wrong. I am a big fan of what Anet Devs are trying to install (ie PvP leagues) but work out a way to sieve out unskilled and inexperienced players rather than let them be carried through be it rating/mmr system or abuses of MMR system.
Brilliant finals! Rank 55 dragons dominated as most EU players expected. EU PvP represented to the fullest! Hardcore, fast paced and with passion.
Camera angle? Those are minor technicalities. Well done Anet.
Actuallly you have to log into guildwars2.com and put the code there in “My Account” section – https://account.arena.net/modals/add-code
I had the same issue and that solved it
I still stick with my point. EVEN CS allows for mistakes
