Very nice video. I haven’t seen too many decent staff ele wvw video’s before. Most of them have been boring where X person sits on the back line or oriented around tower defense. It was nice to see someone a bit more aggressive even if you are an IoJ =P

To this thread in general. I don’t know what everyone is complaining about and quite frankly I don’t care. All I can say is I have enjoyed this match immensely (though reset is rough) and have had some memorable small scale battles specifically with SF. I can’t see names but I won’t forget the PVP guild anytime soon and I believe the other was ND. I’ve encountered more small scale coordination than any wvw I can remember (though I’ve been gone two months XD) and was pretty impressed with the small scale parties with the fore mentioned tags. Now while everyone is busy bragging about individual skill, I will comment on that too. I have not had any 1vs1 that I survived or died, that made me think wow….that player was amazing and all this “I’m a kitten” is rather irrelevant as one player does not win WvW nor is this spvp. Also this is the internet, anyone can talk and make up anything. Do like the quoted user and provide a video putting your skills on display for all the world to marvel at.

I won’t call it garbage, but it is very bad quality. To bad, it looked like it might be interesting. I was curious if my ele was getting owned at any point in it, but alas I could not tell XD

I agree with the OP however, I would like this to go both ways. Defenders should not be able to attack through a door with their weapons or siege. Both fixes would go a long way in making WvWvW a more enjoyable experience.

What is up with the lagg?

I too have experienced far more lag than usual, especially with falling. Sometimes I take no damage till I move, sometimes I ‘rubberband’ and see the falling animation 2-3 times, and sometimes I take no damage at all. It is all quite odd and is a fairly new development although I can not specifically point out the exact patch, but it was here recently within the last month.

Arrowcarts [merged]

in WvW

Posted by: lilcoffeebean.3149

lilcoffeebean.3149

I actually do not have an issue with the arrow cart damage. Arrow carts should hurt naturally, but as many others have pointed out the damage they do to siege just does not make much sense to me. It should hurt the operator of the siege, but the siege itself should be largely unharmed by arrow carts. Now, this also allows for another ability to be added in the way of ‘flaming arrows’ this would boost the damage to siege but even then I would like the extent to be less than it is now.

Also, as numerous other threads have pointed out and in this thread, pov ‘hacking’ is a major issue with the increased damage on arrow carts. At least, on the servers we are currently facing. I’ll forgo mentioning names as I don’t want to get into a flame war, but suffice to say, people can hit places that just do not make sense. Including through covered area’s which is just silly. This really takes away from the enjoyment of the game for myself and I know arenanet’s stance on this is ‘report the user’, but this is not a satisfying fix as you can not see the user or the arrow cart to begin with.

Just my two cents, but I really would like to see the damage against siege reduced at the very least and have some time spent on solving the pov issue’s that currently create a subpar WvWvW experience, for myself and I am sure numerous others who have encountered this.

Here’s your credit for having an idea hundred’s have voiced, ‘formulated’, wrote about, and made video’s of well before this post, your post 6 days ago, or before this game started. Keep up the good work.

More clothing/armor options are always welcome. I do think the suggestions about lingerie are taking it a bit too far though.

RNG’s are a staple of the mmo genre tbh, but I do agree sometimes GW2 takes this seemingly farther than others games. Not that I think they should completely get rid of the RNG, cause I don’t. Like almost every game that uses it though, I’ve always felt there should be a way to get an item after X amount of tries, for when the luck is really working against you.

As far as magic find, it would not affect presents anymore than it affects chests. Magic find only works in calculations when a mob dies.

One Time Events: Keep Them!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: lilcoffeebean.3149

lilcoffeebean.3149

I myself enjoyed the one time event, but I do understand the frustration of having them at the same time each time. It does exclude a lot of people and while someone is inevitably always going to be excluded it should not be the same groups each time. Someone has already mentioned running the event a few times a day (4 would suffice imo) but restrict the rewards to one per account (not character but account). Of course keep in mind this will tank the exotic/precursor market short term as it did yesterday, which will receive a lot of complaints I’m sure.

Should max stat gear be easy to be obtained?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: lilcoffeebean.3149

lilcoffeebean.3149

Yes, I see no reason for it to be exceedingly difficult to obtain. A lot of people do not like grinding mindlessly to aquire gear and for the one’s who do enjoy such things (or just working hard for a goal) there are legendaries and skins for them to go after. Increasing the difficulty in getting your basic exotics, would not increase player retention imo, which is already an issue depending upon who you ask. I suppose I should point out that I do not currently feel exotics are difficult to obtain. I think there is a fairly nice balance atm, in that regard.

Players enjoying, forum go-ers whining?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

There are two kinds of people in this world. Those that understand the complexities of people, and those that think there are only two kinds of people in this world.

Which is to say, your simplification into “whiners on the forum” and “people just enjoying the game” is an oversimplification to the point of being meaningless.

I enjoy this game a lot. I tend to think about it when I’m not playing it, and look forward to when I can play it again. It frequently gives me a sense of wonder as I explore the world.

There are, however, choices I don’t like that the game’s owners have made. They have provided an official forum, and say they want feedback. So when I don’t like something, I make sure to let them know.

Does that make me a forum whiner? Or someone just enjoying the game?

This is well said and I do agree. Arenanet has made some changes that I do not care for, but yet I do still enjoy my time in game for various reasons that I won’t bore everyone with.

At the sametime I can understand where the OP is coming from. When you look at forums it is incredibly negative. Not that there is a problem in and of itself with that, as you said the official forums do exist for a reason and addressing issue’s is one of those reasons. However, when you actually sit and read majority of the posts you realize most of it are pointless threats or complaints that lack substance/explanation. “Ascended gear sucks!” or “this games a grind” doesn’t really iterate anything useful. And I think that’s where the OP is coming from. Rarely is an issue stated with an explanation why it is detrimental to the game and possible solutions to that issue that make sense from business, balance and a gameplay stance. This distinction in my mind is what separates whiners from those who enjoy the game and are pursuing it’s best interests.

Players enjoying, forum go-ers whining?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Well, the OP didn’t single out anyone specifically, yet there are tons of defensive posts as if he/she had. I’ll just say, that yes, the forum is filled with a lot of negativity. Some of it is justified, but a lot of it is aggressive or threats to quit if “XXXXXX” isn’t changed etc. In a nutshell, they’re just not productive. A lot of posts are blatant exaggerations, full of misinformation, imagined statistics, dire warnings of a game in it’s last breath of life, and such other nonsense. Even more amusing is the people who “quit” who still frequent the forums to complain, about a game they no longer play, such irony. Of course, all this is common to every MMO on the planet.

Now that being said, some of the posts that were productive, were conveniantly “lost” or buried, or deleted, whatever the case maybe. Not only does that add fuel to the fire, but it gives the impression that feedback is not necessarily wanted. I’m not talking about posts saying “ascended gear sucks” “I quit cause there’s no end game” “Anet are liars” “This event was terrible” etc. I’m talking about well thought out posts with constructive criticism, that while I may not have always agreed with, the time, effort, and thought put into those posts warranted more than they received. People who enjoy the game and love it, shows in their posts when they provide such criticism, after all in the end they are only looking for the game to grow. The fact these posts seem to go unseen or are overshadowed by people with some twisted sense of entitlement is a true shame.

tl;dr
Yes there is a lot of negative on the forums, some justified and some that is not, but the well thought out posts of constructive criticism go unnoticed or are buried in an avalanche of BS that prevails on these forums.

13 Full, 11 High US Servers @ 8:41 am PST (Wed)

I often wonder what people are talking about when they mention a bad population. I play on darkhaven, it is not one of the top servers by any means, which means as most are probably aware, a lot of people end up transfering out. Be that as it may, I still see a consistant amount of players, especially during boss/dragons.

Now it’s true, like someone pointed out, there are not 20 people around me at all times, nor would I want there to be for that matter. Unless I’m doing chain events, having 2-3 people grinding in the immediate vacinity is, quite frankly, enough.

Still though “dead” is a pretty poor term, as there is not reasonable way for a player to determine how many people are on in dungeons, the towns, all the maps, WvW, spvp, or tournament at any given time. What you “see” tbh, counts for nothing as you only “see” a very limited portion of the game at any given time.
