I’ve always disliked the term ‘best’ because it depends highly on your game mode and the type of content you are trying to complete. That being said pistol Engi with viper gear is currently very strong in terms of dps across all modes and has good sustain with it’s water fields etc. So if you feel like it’s a class you want to roll already, you can rest assured it’s a very strong class. However, it’s not a build you will see ‘big crits’ but rather ‘big burns’. =P
Ofc you could go with a power build to see those big crits, albeit in the optimal situations this would result in a fall off damage wise.

Being able to exchange X amount for some form of currency would be nice. I doubt they would do it for black lion keys, but there are so many (too many) currencies in gw2, that I’m sure they could come up with something.
The squad UI is a pretty great thing and something that the WvW community has needed. That said, having sub-commanders in the same squad would only add more functionality to a good mechanic. More functionality is always a nice thing and it would be nice to feel like the dev’s are listening to the WvW community, with what is a relatively small change.
The problem is that ANet seems to be completely blind with population issues, otherwise they would have made the new borderland a complete map for all three sides like EB and the EotM map.
The WvW could be just 1 EB and 1 Borderland map and everything would be much better.
I agree with this or possibly 3 maps for full servers if the need arises in the future. Then they could cycle what borderland map it was on a weekly basis to give some ‘variety’. It certainly doesn’t solve all the issue’s currently plaguing WvW, but it would at least be a step in the right direction imo.
Been numerous reports now that it’s not working since HoT launched. I had assumed it was fixed when raids launched since the insignia’s were finally added, but it appears it has not been.
I have to agree, that scribing as it stands currently is extremely unbalanced in terms of cost as well as some of the hoops you have to go through to craft a single item of mid/high tier.
Regarding map completion rewards… it’s been a little while since I’ve gotten equipment through one, but aren’t they account bound? (I’m probably remembering wrong.)
They aren’t account bound in the core game or HoT. The rewards you get for leveling up pre 80 however are, so perhaps that’s what you were recalling.
lol it looks nothing like incinerator. Please get your eye’s checked.
For me it’s simple, if you make a build and claim X class can hit Y dps reliably, then I want video proof of it being done. Often this can not be provided or when it is, it’s someone blasting away on some golems in spvp or a video where the dps is far below a reasonable margin of error making you question why it was posted to begin with.
Occasionally the stars do align though and someone’s claims are matched by a video, but this is such a rare occurrence, I just can’t fathom why builds are taken at face value, no matter who they are from.
But there is a difference between the two cases. With Tyu the cheat software was never used on his account. His account was logged in from an IP using cheat software.
In her case the cheat software was actually used on her account.
Actually the reddit post where the dev made the comment on Tyu’s case, specifically says the software was used on his account.
“You should also know that the person using your account is using that software while they have access. This makes you liable; but forgiveness is the order of the day.”
That being said, whether Anet should make allowances for such cases is up for debate, but doing it for one, while not doing it for another (assuming the situation is the same) is a poor way to go about things. However, that all hinges on the ‘truth’ which we aren’t privy to. That’s why I don’t understand why there are so many in this thread ‘up in arms’.
Heartseeker spam is only spammed by new players to be quite frank. While you claim the base damage is insane, it’s actually a poor way to get dps out of the thief and there are much better dps rotations. While it’s common to see in the lower echelons of spvp, as you move up you’ll see it less and less. This makes sense however, as the lower echelons are made up largely of new players and/or alts new to thieves and it works for them so they believe it to be good.
In truth, it has a obvious animation, and this is strictly a learn to play issue. Thieves after all have been nerfed time and time again, and do nowhere near the dps they did at launch. The same is true with condition necro’s, which are substantially less powerful with the nerfs they received. Can they still be strong? Of course, but most classes can in the hands of a good player and they can be countered like most classes. This is much easier the more familiar you are with animations, cast speeds, etc. That’s true of pvp in any game and honestly, what it sounds like (despite claims otherwise) is that you just aren’t very familiar with pvp. This is evident by your thought that going to rank 30 on a thief is a big deal. You’re still fighting newer players, so it’s natural that rotation matters less.
As far as your claim about metabattle, well, you’re spreading misinformation to put it bluntly. From the great rate down to the good rating (conquest, not looking at stronghold), there are 3 thief builds, none of which use d/d as a weaponset, meaning heartseeker spam is not considered ‘meta’. For necro/reaper there are quite a few more at 7. However, as you complained about condi necro’s, it’s worth noting only 2 are condi builds and 1 is a hybrid using celestial. This is a farcry (hype) from what you are suggesting.
I’m not saying there aren’t classes that need balanced, because there are. There are some that have been nerfed to the point they really don’t feel viable anymore and there are some new spec’s that came with HoT that objectively are superior despite claims otherwise. Given time they will be dealt with like spec’s from the past.
PS: It’s Arrogance. Not Arrogancy. Just thought you’d Like to use words that actually exist.
Perhaps you should expand your vocabulary as it is in fact a word.
@topic
I do not mind the cosmetic mounts (though there are only 2) but because Anet is not rolling out more, it leads me to believe they either lost money or didn’t make what they projected. Naturally that’s just my own assumption so may or may not be factual. However, mounts are a lot of work and while Anet can allocate their resources where they wish, I would prefer it was allocating towards more pressing or beneficial projects overall. That being said, I think the same thing about mini’s, and they continue to push them out. As far as mounted combat or mounts that increase movement speed greater than 33%, I think both are a bad idea.
I’m just one person though, so I can accept that what I want, what the community wants, and what Anet wants, may be vastly different, so if it were too happen I certainly wouldn’t cry in my Cheerio’s, as long as it remained somewhat lore friendly. Horses are up for debate (as in GW1) whether they are lore friendly or not. There are quite a few references to horses in both GW’s, however we do not see any horses roaming the lands. The reason for this imo, is because it would lead to major speculation on mounts or complaints that they can not be ridden. Naturally, this too is conjecture, so take it as you will. Before someone mentions it…yes there are undead horses…I am aware of this.
I’m personally of the opinion, we do not see horses, because of the ‘mount’ argument that would follow, but again that’s just conjecture on my part, although that’s what majority of this topic is. That being said, I would mind seeing my Norn riding a Dolyak into battle. =P
TLDR: I don’t see a point in adding mounts, which is a large undertaking, as GW2 stands now, however as GW2 does purely cosmetic stuff such as mini’s if there is a market for cosmetic mounts I don’t see why they wouldn’t.
Speaking of SBI, their north-north camp has been the source of many LOLs the past few days.
Wait…Maguuma also calls it North-North!? I always thought that was just a weird SBI thing when we moved here, heh.
Yeahhhh NorthNorth, SouthSouth. Mag is the 1st server out of the many that I’ve been on to use cardinals… I laughed for the first 3 weeks, lol
Can’t say I’ve heard NorthNorth or SouthSouth before, but I can distinctly remember a time when rather than directions the names of the towers/camps were actually used. Now I try that and people look at me like I’m crazy XD
I do agree that the overall price is a bit higher than necessary. However, I am not really upset about it. Keep in mind that the 250 limit existed prior to GW2, so seeing it was not surprising and we have gotten some rather nice features for free.
The wallet was a godsend and I don’t know about anyone else, but this alone freed up a mass amount of my bank spaces, by getting rid of tokens, relics, guild commedations, etc. Even before that though, at launch all these event items (candy corn etc) did not have a tab, nor did things like obsidian shards, ecto, the lodestones etc, so that update too freed up a mass amount of space. Course you could argue these should have existed from the start, but if they were really so ‘money hungry’ it could have been aquired via the gem store. Now while it’s true the amount of mat’s needed for crafting has increased (only for ascended really), it’s not such a huge increase that should cause anyone to need to go out and buy this as you can convert dust etc to bricks, which also have an individual slot.
All in all I’d like it to be cheaper (and would expect a sale at some point) but I don’t feel some sort of betrayal or feel the need to rave screaming ‘kitten them capitalist pigs’. Besides, at the end of the day, everything can still be aquired with gold, albeit the exchange rate isn’t as lovely as it use to be.
People turn your god kitten emotes off and quit kittening. It will solve everything. Every week it’s the same thing, this person teabagged me, this person laughed on my corpse, this person touched my winky. You can turn them off for a reason.
Sitting dead inside a keep, waiting for someone to rez you through the gate is pretty lame. It’s pretty obvious that isn’t working as intended, I guess I overestimated Core’s class.
It’s unfortunate that so many talks of zoomhacks come up so often or ‘zoomlock’ as it’s now apparently being called. IoJ is correct, though, there is a commander currently in Darkhaven using such exploits. It’s blatantly obvious and everyone should have realized it by now, but because of who it is…..anyhow moving on, 13k lead when I went to bed 8 hours ago, woke up and it’s just a notch over 2k…well played IOJ well played.
DH has a lot of terribad commanders. I just hope they are learning from their mistakes.
Its not just commanders.
As a solo roamer, I really have to say that on an aggregate level, DH players are probably the absolute least skilled players I have ever come across from any server by no small margin. Between all the servers that SBI has faced, DH really stands out as being the absolute worst in terms of player skill. I dare to say, DH players are possibly even worse than SBI players, most of whom I have absolutely zero respect for (in terms of player skill.)
I am not entirely sure if you intended for this to sound as elitism, but it certainly reeks of it. Essentially what you’re doing is taking what will undoubtedly be an extremely small sample size and surmising that the entire DH server is terrible based on your anecdotal evidence. Surely you can see why that entire notion is flawed? If not….then perhaps valuing your intelligence more than your gaming ability would be more beneficial for your future.
At the end of the day most players are going to have an average ‘skillset’. This is after all the definition of average. You have bad and outstanding on the other ends of the spectrum. From the viewpoint of the top 1% of the game, average may indeed look terrible, but a little perspective isn’t difficult to achieve.

LoL I have followed commanders off cliffs before =( Sometimes I think they do it on purpose just to see who will follow =P
But I thought my whining in LA would inspire the troops to rally! Nothing inspires loyalty like telling your fellow soldiers how much they suck and what they’re doing wrong!
But seriously, kudos to NSP and IoJ. This week has been a challenge and at the end of the day, that is what makes WvW enjoyable. If you look past all the whining, all the knitpicking, and all the accusations, I think you find majority of people are having fun, but unfortunately those who are not…tend to be more vocal.
<~~accepting gold to come out and play. Start sending please!
Hey friends, here is some footage of Purimm and I, this time from my (guardian) point of view. The skill level of the smaller groups in this tier has been higher so nothing too jaw dropping.
Is it bad that every video posted I breathe a sigh of relief when it’s over and I realize I was not in it getting embarrassed? =P
DH gets to the point where they know they have it in the bag and then they don’t show up much after that. Refreshing to see they have people that treat this as it should be, a video game.
True, of course it’s also why we’ll never be higher than tier 6. At any rate was a fun matchup and tbh was much more of a challenge than I thought it would be.
My last impressions of this matchup: GOM fields impressive numbers for a good portion of the day. They were never outnumbered that I saw in our prime time on EB.
NSP: Doesn’t field impressive numbers overall, numerous times was outmanned in EB, however they’re not afraid to take their zerg to the opponents borderlands and claim ground there. Also is led by some small, but very organized guilds. I may not like the behavior of some of the XOXO members, but their skill has never been in doubt.
Last but not least, one toon in particular I shall not be forgetting anytime soon is a colonel ranked d/d ele from xoxo, hats off to your sir (or lady if that be the case). You play your class extremely well.
To the super skilled Dh guys in dhbl this morning , you guys are the best players I’ve ever met. Ty
^huge compliment to whoever was there, considering the skill of this guild as a whole.
Don’t need no stinkin’ walls to defend a tower, and sure as hell don’t need no stinkin’ stealth to get kills. But I will gladly accept all of your monetary donations for the Buy-Taquito-A-Quip fund.
A thief without stealth, I am intrigued, but at least your legendary won’t be hidden from the WvW world.
We killed him with the golems.
And we don’t feel bad about it either.
But boy you all sure were quick to yell ‘hacker’….you must be too disappointed to feel bad. Them feels bro.
@OP as already said when things change hands the textures reload and it does some crazy stuff with the collision detection. So do knockbacks in certain locations for that matter.
@entropy The OP addressed why that was a bad idea and I’m inclined to agree. Rewards based soley on placing first and to some degree second, only promotes server stacking, unless the rewards completely suck in which case what’s the point?
@OP Nice idea, once the ratings stabilize I would love to see something like this.
I fail to see why any WvW player would care if person X is getting badges from a jumping puzzle. Personally I’d rather have all the pve legendary farmers running the jp on their toons, rather than taking up space in WvW with their magic find gear.
Congratulations to the 4 [XOXO] members that were all level 80 and killed me on my level 14 necro, I could tell it was an achievement for you to have to dance on me afterwards…
Hello, as the guild leader of [XOXO] I would like you to post any screenshots you may have taken, so I can have a word to the members involved.
Thanks,
Your Big Horse [XOXO]
Interesting, I don’t see this kind of response very often. Nice to see.
@sororita nice video albeit painful to watch. Sometimes baghaven is a very fitting name =P I look foward to seeing how all this plays out once the weekend is over as that seems to be when we are at our strongest for whatever reason. ^^
The difference between #1 in tier 2 and #1 in tier 1 are pretty substantial, so #1 in tier 2 is merely going to ping pong back and forth. In truth this will be the case for most tiers. Realistically there isn’t a solution that will ever work for everyone because the populations are so imbalanced in terms of wvw, which grows more and more apparent the higher tiers you climb.
In Fifa teams have different skill levels of course, but they all field the same amount of players. Going up 1 and down 1 type of system, is essentially how the last system worked, but at a much slower rate, speeding it up is imo, only a temporary solution to a much larger problem.

This is some footage Purimm and I got before reset. Just playing tag.
Was quite an amusing and entertaining watch.
or u never bothered to get on vent with them even tho they spammed it in team chat all the time
anyways lets not derail this thread anymore anyone who needs na coverage that gets [RE] will be stronger for it
Heh, I could write a few pages on what I ‘remember’ about this guild but you are right, this isn’t the place to derail it. I will leave it at this, as long as darkhaven is not considered best of luck.
Seems like all 3 of our servers got favorable matchups or what should be at least. I will miss the challenge of this matchup, but I’m sure we’ll see each other again soon.
i find it funny ppl saying [RE] doesn’t socialize with anyone but there guild members. I was on darkhaven with them and ran with there guild alot and were in the vent with them all the time there great guys and care a lot about wvw
w/e server they go to will be stronger for it
/cliide
We must have been on different darkhaven’s.
We were hoping to roll out the new matchup system for the next matchups but unfortunately we ran into a few snags. We are working hard to get everything working 100% correctly and tested and should be able to start the new matchups once we’ve checked everything. I’ll make sure to be back to let you all know as far ahead of time as I can. My apologies for the inconvenience.
By DevonCarver
Well on a bright note, at least it ‘should’ be bug free when implemented.
Well looks like we are going to get the same match up again next week unless DH manages to climb up about 20 points in the ratings. Hope everyone is ready for another week of the same kitten. Oh and if you dont believe me look at the update for the wvw match ups.
Taken from the MOS website which is what most use to find the matchups “With these changes, currently we can only predict new ratings and rankings, but not next matchups. I hope Arena.net will provide the random roll (through the API or leaderboards) before the end of the matchup. With this knowledge, we would then be able to predict next matchups.”
So no, the odds of us having the same matchup are extremely low although possible. This also assumes these changes won’t have bugs…..which I’m skeptical about =P
(edited by lilcoffeebean.3149)
I think there should be three commander icon colours really:
Blue traditional dorito: Offensive zerg
Purple dorito: Defensive commander
Green dorito: PveOnly have to buy one dorito, but have the ability to change its colour depending on use.
I actually really like this idea. Although it does not address the OP’s complaint, but never the less I think this would be a great addition overall.
Rank certainly doesn’t indicate skill level or ability to command. People learn very quickly who to follow and who not to follow. If they having a problem commanding the ‘lemmings and sheep’ as you call them, perhaps they should ask themselves why. It is undeniable that there are people on our server who will drop whatever they are doing to follow specific commanders. If they can have this effect others should be able to emulate it. But….too many times I see commanders be outright @ssholes when they don’t get their way. People skills are an important part of commanding as well.
Agree gates should require a certain % of damage before popping swords.
The simple solution is to make any weapon skill usage cause reveal rather than only ones that hit. This would prevent the Smoke Screen / Cluster Bomb combo from granting unlimited stealth without destroying the stealth mechanic itself.
I find this solution acceptable and while it would change the way I play my thief it would be a small change and I myself (despite playing a thief) do believe that perma-stealth should not be possible.
It seems we all have hackers throughout the servers, although I have never seen KING have any hackers, it is definitely possible some bad apples may just randomly be in the ranks.
I have the same feeling it is like that for everyone, just as we saw a hacker from FURY tele into cliffside, and garrison on our BLs, we can’t say “fury is a bunch of hax0rz omg!” because we only saw the one person.
Definately, I know the other day I saw a ranger on our server who was guildless that exhibited some very very suspicious running speed in WvW, but you get those people everywhere. At least he wasn’t in a guild though to tarnish a tag. I don’t know about every guild on our server, but I do feel like the majority would take hacking seriously and get rid of any minority that might be doing so if they were caught. The problem is catching them though as in a 10vs10 or even 5vs5 to some extent, you’re not gauging whether your guildmates might be doing something out of the ordinary….unless it’s just incredibly blatant.
I can only say I never saw firsthand any SF hackers, although in our bl’s at redlake I did somehow take damage from a thousand blades warrior while I was up near the lord’s room. He was in the tunnel attacking some players, but I think this was a bug rather than an actual hack. Often I think bugs get confused with hacking.

World vs World doesn’t imply Zerg vs Zerg, just like Realm vs Realm didn’t imply it.
All that it simply describes is Worlds fighting against one another via PVP which can range from solo/smallman/zerg fights.
The problem with WvW in this game is really, Zerging is the most rewarding thing in the game, The most skill-less form of PvP is the the most rewarded form. That should never be the case in any PvP MMO.
There are zero disadvantages in this game for having more numbers, Zero….You can move as fast if not faster then smaller numbers, You have more opportunity at heals/buffs/rezzes then smaller numbers, and Since Smaller Numbers have less people, you can hit more % of their zerg with AOE vs them hitting you. I mean really..Zero disadvantage…
Well said, this pretty much sums up everything.
DH especially has the ability to do this well if everyone’s on the same page. 20 running like this can wipe 60+ unorganized like they were nothing. Stay balled and spam F so anytime someone gets into downed state they’re immediately rezzed. This form the line, range AoE bullkitten zerg tactics won’t work against higher tiers. Always remember AoE has a 5 man limit.
Best of luck in future match ups
Have enjoyed our stay together.
You are correct good sir and this is why DH will not advance beyond tier 5 as they are more likely to have equal (or even greater) coverage than we do. But most of our players have never played on a higher tier and since we have never been a high server….these are the type of tactics that have become dominate to our own detriment. And I might be the minority opinion on DH….but I fully believe had every server had equal coverage we would not have been able to bridge, what imo, is an obvious skill gap between organized and efficient guilds in both SF (king namely…and idc to hear about how they hacked…as I never saw it. Though all the corpse laughing, teabagging and other such nonsense detracts from the guilds overall skill)and IoJ.
(edited by lilcoffeebean.3149)
Hmmm….we can still build siege on our borderlands fine, it’s EB that’s the problem, but sounds like IOJ really got the short end of the stick if they can’t build when we are pushing there. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying we’re gonna leave, but I do feel a little bad for you.
In t6 atm (ioj, darkhaven, sf) EB is pretty much a constant zerg. In the borderlands you can find small groups though, but more often than not even here you get 10+ groups. If you are looking for 5 man fights or lower as a common occurrence I actually would not recommend either of these 3 servers. Just my opinion and some may disagree. At the very least I personally find darkhaven to be very zergy for the tier it is in.
Psssst Darkhaven. Get your act together! Anvil rock has given up and is skirting T6 in points. We need some new opponents.
Sincerily, T5
Don’t worry, we will be seeing you soon. =P But this has been one hell of a fun matchup this week.
Reform the party. Yes, it sucks, but you don’t need to leave the area to remove a player. Leave party, right click join, and you party should be reformed in less than 10s… easily accomplished while moving to your next target.
If you are with guild mates or friends, educate them to leave the party before they leave the map.
I can see why it’s not a big ticket item for Anet to address when it is easily worked around by the players.
Your first sentence addresses why it should be corrected though. As you said “it sucks”. It’s clearly not working as designed and should be a relatively trivial fix, considering it works as intended in all other aspects of the game. I am a firm believer that you should correct your existing product before expanding upon it, but that’s just my opinion and I am sure others disagree. Either way though, it would be nice to see some amount of time given to this to correct it, which will be one less inconveniance for players in WvW.
I think KING should xfer to IoJ :P
We dont need training that bad do we?
http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA
DH take note, we dont need to get to first in overall score to become green, we keep gaining rating and make you guys lose more, itll be an express route to green for IoJ by the end of next week. Game on guys
Except you actually do. If you take a look at the algorithm used and read on the glicko 2 rating system, when you input the numbers you can lose and still have your rating increase as the rating is based off 6 sets of data. DH vs SF, DH vs IJ>determines DH rating based on the scores, the algorithm is a bit much to explain, but suffice to say we did not beat you by enough to increase our rating. SF vs DH, SF vs IJ and IJ vs SF and IJ vs DH respectively determine the other two servers ranks. You can actually lose to a higher ranked opponent but still have your rating increase by keeping a small point gap. However, the only thing really to take away from this….you can not pass someone’s rating, if you do not beat them.
On a side note a lot of people feel this rating system is flawed as the glicko system was made for chess (meaing 1vs1 competition) and isn’t exactly set up for 1vs1vs1, although anet did make some changes to try and compensate for this. Whether they hit a nice balance is up for debate.
(edited by lilcoffeebean.3149)
I don’t know as an ele myself, I actually don’t have a problem with the idea of changing this, as I find it frustrating at times myself, but from a practical standpoint, it can be countered, which in my mind means it is not OP.
The fact that this has not been resolved is disheartening to say the least. This is absolutely terrible decision making on Anet’s part. How many more dedicated WvW players and possible paying customers have to leave before they get a clue?
I doubt Anet wasn’t able to anticipate what would happen. They have all the data and statistics. I don’t think they’re unable to foresee that shaking changes will negatively affect the playerbase (I mean Anet pulled this kind of thing several times already). Given that there is support for this decision, they’ll just wait until WvW is replaced by like players.
I’m sure they expected it to receive negative feedback, but that does not mean they effectively calculated all variables and changes are not needed. Looking over previous patch notes is a great indicator of how well some things were planned out.
