At a bare minimum it should increase all staff damage, not just marks. Don’t think I’d pick it up even then, but it would be closer to good. Ideally it would be rolled into another trait and we’d be given something else in its place. Not that at this point I trust the something else would be worth taking…

I’d be willing to accept our lack of mobility if we were as difficult to escape as we are supposed to be. Currently, we’re not only the easiest profession to catch but also the easiest to escape.

Tomorrow we get a great gift from anet! While all of the other professions have been burdened with a new Heal that they must purchase, wasting 25 precious Skill Points, we’ve been given the freedom to do whatever we want with those points. So what will you be spending them on? I’m thinking half of an Eldritch Scroll.

I saw the new heal that they had in the preview. And I have to say….. It looks like garbage in comparison to the other supportive heals the other professions are getting.

Fixed for accuracy. Our only other heal could be Blood Fiend and this still wouldn’t be worth spending skill points on =\

Just wanted to hop in and mention that we’ll also be talking about a few of the balance changes for each profession in addition to looking at the healing skills.

It was great to see the Necro portion was essentially “hey guys, we added an ICD, a cast time, made the CD longer, and got rid of the passive damage from the healing skill. Well, time to get to ranger!”

I know, it was just the best. Good to know I’ll be able to hang on to my skill points for a rainy day on my Necro. Thanks for the 7 new heals ANET!

I think I’d appreciate SFs ongoing strategy to drain us of supply at DH Bay a bit more if 900 of our supply hadn’t been conveniently burned by someone queuing up patrols when they attacked. Surely that was just a totally random coincidence though. Surely!

We need more things to use them on or to atleast be able to sell them. Myself and tons and tons of other people have gotten to the point we just destroy them. They take up inventory space.

Without giving any specifics, I’d highly recommend you change that strategy. There are things coming soon that will give you lots to spend it on.

So then, we can safely assume that dragonite gains will be significantly improved for WvW players prior to or simultaneously with these new uses for it? Right? Surely this won’t be a way of excluding those of us who don’t already have eleventy-billion dragonite from character advancement.

How is this different than any other LS update?

Queen Jubilee, Mad King Maze, Scarlet invasion, and now the Tower. Throw a bunch of mobs in one area, have everyone zerg. That recipe is getting old.

Why, the difference is that this time if you fall behind the zerg you can’t catch up! Hope you never have to go to the bathroom.

Exactly matches my experience. At this point I’d honestly think it was a better experience if every mob just spammed long duration AoE immobilizes, as annoying as that would get. At least then everyone else would be forced to stop and help.

Pretty much having the opposite experience. The density of mobs combined with the lack of incentive or requirement to kill them means that if you ever fall behind the zerg for even a second, you may as well just start over. Or walk away from the whole thing. Very frustrating experience so far.

Since dev is here, can we raise the question about Putrid Mark? As far as i remember the nerf never came into patch notes and there has been no official answer on it.

Apparently, it was the best around. And since nothing else was going to keep it down, the devs had to. After all, after reducing it down to only three conditions, and only from you rather than your allies, why it was still so much the super bestest skill ever that they obvs had to also put it on full CD when interrupted.

Death Magic:

  • Reanimator (5): Merge this trait with any other minion trait. If I don’t use minions this is wasted 5 points merge it with minion master (III) and add “+20 toughness for every condition on you”
  • Protection of the Hord (15): Same as reanimator, non minion masters get nothing. merge with Flesh of the master (X) and add probably a “gain toughness based on DS level” not sure here, but it should be something with +toughness because of deadly strength

These two really need to happen. Death Magic should be more than just the Minion tree. It has some traits I love for other builds (okay, maybe just Greater Marks), but going down it feels like such a waste with the first two minors being so purely minion focused.

Apparently the bugged version is fine for them, so there updating the tool-tip to display the bugged version and pass it off as an intentional tweak justified by the fact its the best skill in the game kitten kitten .

I’m fine with this, so long as they bring every single other skill in the game down to the point where Putrid Mark is indeed the best skill in the game. Those would be balance changes I could get behind ^^

Weakening Shroud
This trait as it currently stands on live is a borderline grandmaster trait. It is near 100% AoE weakness uptime for a small investment. The new version is still probably worthy of master tier with almost 50% AoE weakness uptime. This line has a lot of powerful traits, but suffers from having only 1 choice at grandmaster tier.

An imaginary world where every necro has, as a base ability, +100% condition duration. I’m pretty sure they’re basing their design decisions off of the idea that we get that for free, no matter our build. It’s the only thing that makes sense.

On the defensive side, the Blood and Soul Reaping necros are starting to feel pretty good.

Please to explain how this is true, outside of minion builds. Investing in Blood always feels to me like 10 points worth of payoff for 30 points of traits. Dismal numbers and poor scaling for vampiric traits, “support” heals that don’t help you and are a joke compared to what other support builds can offer (most of which starts with “w” and ends with “ater fields”), a couple of cooldown reductions that might be worth picking up if the line offered anything else, and Mark of Blood on dodge (which knowing our luck will be nerfed from two bleeds to one, just for laughs). I’m seriously trying wrap my head around how the Blood line is any good, let alone pretty good.

Tips for how to enjoy solo PvP?

I was able to have some fun with a friend or two, so small group roaming is still possible. But my solo experience so far is that on the two times since Friday that I did find someone alone, the fight had barely started before we got interrupted by several more enemies (or friendlies, in one case) pouring in. Blech.

On a more positive note, what I do when I can’t find any good fights solo is play defense in our borderlands and keep an eye to the map, looking for sentries that go down before camps are hit. Sometimes the group doing camps is too large, but sometimes its just one (or two or three, if I’m built to handle that), and you get a good fight out of that. When you’re having trouble finding other roamers out and about, anticipating their movements helps to track them down.

Wait until the end of this Season. Unfortunately, with the introduction of Leagues anet took solo play out behind the barn and put a bullet in its head. Too many people around to ever find good fights any more…

Poor little Darkhaven. They were afraid we were going to take there camp. So they built 3 AC’s, 2 Ballista’s, and put a stealth trap on both sides. There was just us 3 thieves. Keep being fabulous DH! ;D

How dare they utilize stealth traps to counter your ridiculous, normally uncounterable class mechanic? Was it tiresome for you to have to fight for more than 4 seconds at a time?

Come on that is way to excessive for such a little group. Doesn’t matter the class. They also had two thieves. By my standards, I would say there is no reason for siege when you have 2 SR’s of your own, along with a mesmer and a ranger.

There is no such thing as excessive when it comes to fighting thieves.

This is pretty much my only reason for liking this patch. Very iffy on the return of bloodlust, but I’ve seen more good fights in the last 3 hours than in the last 3 weeks.

As someone who actually enjoys the new additions to WvW, this is a serious issue. I’d like to see where my services are needed in claiming ruins, but at the moment it means chain BL hopping. Just glad my server is pathetic enough that we never have queues, I guess.

Gotta love the contrast between the start of the Queen’s Jubilee and this. I was able to jump right in to the Pavilion and Gauntlet events and have fun when that started. Tonight, I ended up staring at a “sorry, but your event is on another world” message that didn’t actually tell me that event had ended (and despite not actually being in an overflow). Once the event actually started again I get kicked out of the game five minutes later, only to log back in to the same stupid red text telling me I can’t play the content I logged in to play =\

The confirmations that this game is balanced solely for a handful of high level tournament players, with no regard for the rest of your customers, will be invaluable in my decisions as to whether to continue supporting GW2 and ANET. Light Armor Chests and Zenith Gloves

I’d like to see some that work with the Zenith Gloves, and aren’t lingerie. Seriously, nearly every Light chest on a female character is either skimpier than I’d ever want, or has sleeves that obscure the gloves. Makes me sad =(

Adnul is a big intentional joke. Why intentional? It takes 5 min to fix him (even if it’s a completely new code that u never saw in your life and still had to fix).

Be sure i will never even think of touching this minigame when and if i ever achiev to finish the “vs NPC” part. The way they did this “tutorial phase for a future permanent minigame” has made me hate this will all my heart.

Just a repulsive game…and on top of all this even pay 100g for it (permanent thing) ? Go have fun with that anet. Learn to make your game appealing not irritating. Sry but u did a lousy job. Most of us will hate this so much u will see just a handful of ppl play your minigame past the event.

All of this x100. Due entirely to Adnul I will, after completing achievements, never touch this minigame again. You managed to kill whatever fun might’ve been in this minigame right out of the gate, and replace it with only frustration and hate.

As a former quake2/3 player this mini game is a blast, actually rewards smart players that can learn the map and where are the different items (and their timer), also you need to be creative to use skills and know when to retreat.

All this may well be true, but is entirely irrelevant if the first time you join your team is all AFK, the enemy is a nicely coordinated mob, and you spend the entire match (or until you click the exit button) tasting floor as a result. No reason to learn maps or cultivate any kind of skill when your initial experience with the game is just… blugh. Especially for a game mode that seems like it’s supposed to be more random fun than it is srs bzns pvp.

Thieves: The main thing I wanted to get across with thieves was not meant to be a commentary on balance but just on how you spend your time. There are many builds set up to be defensive and with good evasion and positioning you can run a group around in circles no matter what profession you are. If you let 1-2 people run your group around in circles and get a lucky kill here or there your letting the enemy tie you up when you could move on to another objective.

The problem being, there’s nothing you can do to stop the thief (or thieves) from following you to your objective and having a major effect on the outcome of what you’re trying to accomplish.

This. I’d really like an answer to this problem. Also, given that thieves are apparently able to tie up 5-6 people at once, and pick a few of them off if they keep fighting the thief, where does that leave non-thief solo roamers?

My only wish is for a 1200 range on Dark Path. It would be nice to have a gap closer that people couldn’t instantly invalidate with one teleport/leap. But what do I know, it’s not like we’re supposed to be difficult to escape from or anything…

My expectation? Corrup Boon/Epidemic change, DS #5 pushed back until 2014, and “improved” pet AI that means they stand around behind the enemy doing nothing rather than standing next to you doing nothing.

This is just… depressing. I wish they’d at least put some Apothecary’s gear on the new Badge of Honor vendors. I’d love to try out some builds using Apothecary’s gear on my Necro in WvW, but it seems that’s just not possible =(
