rerolling because I do not like druid… Revenant can be a very good dps, have decent support and can go tank healer if required. that versatility like on every class is just awesome!. and that skill 3 on sword is allot of fun..
I personally like the sword as is.
Changing the skill to not have leaps would take away the leaps. No thanks.
Learn to cancel/swap if you want to use sword. It takes like 10 minutes on a dodge roll dummy.

What cd on sigil of Earth or trait? And condi damage of 136 per sec? 5sec bleed? With traits? Have u checked the trait and the bonus damage and increase duration? Did you go even calculated the skill cd and damage burst when applied? Have you actually even tried the build? Why dont you try the build and check your combat log and calculate it there too and then look at your zerk overall dps.
2s CD on Earth Sigil, so over the duration, it could proc 30 times possibly, but statistically that will not happen. Its 60% chance to proc on a 61% chance to crit over 60 hits, 0.6x(0.61×60) which ends up being 21 times. I rounded up to 22.
With 1525 condition damage (Rampager with 15 might) and Hidden Barbs, bleeding will do ((0.06 * Condition Damage) + 22) * 1.2 = 136.2 dps
Sharpened Edges is a 3s bleed, base. Krait runes give +45%, Agony Sigil gives +20%, 45% + 25% = 65%. 3 × 1.65 = 4.95, I rounded up to 5s.
I don’t need to test the burst because that will 100% most definetly be in favor of the Zerker, I already said I have tried the build for months, until I found out zerker was more damage in a far shorter duration. Not only that, but a large portion of the damage cannot be cleansed and deal 0%.
There is no point calculating builds with so many chance variables in-game, it must be done mathematically to find the most likely scenario. I’m no mathematician though, I may have done things incorrectly, but welcome those being pointed out if I have erred, assuming people go about it without being a kitten.
please check the skills, traits, base damage, condi damage, condi duration, cd, crit damage and debuff. you can dl condi calculator or just find a website that has this and I can promise you. your source of dps is nothing compare to this, you should know that sharpening edge have 10 sec not 5 sec with the duration bonus. do not say 60% chance crit when there is fury on every single utility skill I have beside signet of earth that gives 80% chance while your source of damage is just what you stated?. please you should just play the build and see for your self instead of making up stuff and using a really bad calculation. btw stop looking at the 2013 stats your stats are way off so I am sure you used the wiki with the stat on 2013 because the bleed was buffed a little from this summer. I am 100% that you have not heard of the condi LB and you recently heard about it or maybe just from me since not allot of players run it and a few that actually continued looking for a build. this build used to be good last 2013 but went down fast because of the changes they made and was only recently picked up. I will say this again, use condi calculator and regular damage calculator and those 2 are the source of my dps, and I will accept your claim of Zerk have more dps if you can hit 2k normal attack and higher more with crit. you just do not understand this factors and you just kept ignoring it and focused on calculating with an old stat. you kept using this bad calculation which just show how much you do not know about it. I am not sure why you keep staying in this circular argument using unreliable calculation and ignoring your own dps source that has allot of down team and completely dependent of waiting for skill cd while condi maintain dps output, I know you are trolling just because the way you use this argument without even knowing anything about my build.

It is a spirit and I would love anet to change it into a special effect like aura cast on self by ranger and when alliez are nearby will get the bonus effect so that spirit dont die and now mobile because it is part of you.

Your damage resource is 1 while I have 1+1. That is why your calculations are off. Read the meaning of dps again and you say you’ve run it for 4 months but you still did not see the difference ? You should know that just from skill 2 lb condi does more damage against your build with skill 2.

I played Rampager Condi LB for the 1st 4 months of the game, then I tried Zerker, will never go back.
I’m not making things up about the new pet, I specifically didn’t include it because it can do 27k damage with its one attack, orders of magnitude more than a devourer.
If you had read my build, you would see that both builds have the same amount of fury, so I didn’t bother including it. I also didn’t bother with exact crit numbers for the zerk Remorseless setup, being guaranteed crits and also adding 5% more damage for the next kittens, there would probably be more, figured I would err on the side of the Rampager for your sake.
Go look up damage and damage calculation on the wiki, its all explained there in simple to understand terms, don’t worry, you’ll figure it out eventually.

For purposes of this dps comparison we will use LRS at max range for 60 shots, which is a 60s time frame. Devourers like you used for the Rampager build are weak compared to Smokescale right now so pets were not included in the damage. Refined Toxins was also not included as I took MDG into account, since you talked about having 15 might, the two do not work together. I also did not take into account the Enlargement buff that you would get when dropping below 50% health, because both builds use it and it would have been too hard to calculate it exactly, it favors Zerker, but I’ve assumed they just cancel each other out. I did the same with QZ.

Conclusion: Zerker builds do more damage than Rampager, all things being equal by near 25% on medium armor targets. This % will drop some by hitting heavy armor, but
not by a great margin. Zerk then will do a lot more damage to light armor. This is assuming no conditions are cleansed.
I knew it. U had no idea or even know how to calculate damage. First dont make things up about new pet we dont know yet their final stat and that will onlymake my build allot stronger. 2nd u miss the part where I get 80 percent crit from trait line fury and 2condi remove on survival skill use. 3rd your calculations are cut in 3 half. I guess its expected because u run zerk lol. You need to learn how to calculate specially dps that u think a + 200 base damage can do more from one with 200 lesser but have 800+ damage addition after 2sec and stay perma as long as you keep the same target. Your conclusion is like saying a guardian zerk is stronger than condi guard in terms of dps. You really need to try my build and use combo then talk and nt speculate so you don’t fail that math. I have tried zerk tons of time and now I invitd you to try mine. In terms of burst I can kill beast like svanir in 4 sec or less. And damage wise more.

dont worry we are still civil just got off the track and talked about the dps side of things which works better. losing isn’t an issue since there are counter builds out there but play style all differs on the experience on playing Ranger. I just wanted to share my build and see if you might like it since it is very high dps and can even kill beast very fast also good damage help for team even in dungeons or wvw. As a power trapper (yea weird build) I would say the biggest weakness is stability/stun-breaker. Conditions can be difficult depending on the specialization you take. Without the ability to go invisible so often I imagine you might need some ability to soak up damage since you will be visible more often and therefore more open to attack.
I am wondering why you are taking trapper runes but not going for the full set (not saying it isn’t viable), is it because you don’t like that traps triggered reveal you? I find even though traps knock me out of stealth that it is still super useful.
I run full bezerker gear with 4 traps (spring, flame, viper, spike) and strength of the pack (need some stability :P) longbow and greatsword. Marksman (for longbow pierce), Skirmishing (for cripple on traps), Wilderness Survival (for 3 conditions cleared every 10 seconds).
Edit: Forgot to explain my playstyle >_<. I normally stay in longbow and use traps stealth/speed to re-position to stay away from my opponent (keep away like someone else said). If i feel I’m running out of escapes/knockbacks I use my elite to get stabs up so I don’t get stunned. Also switch to sword to block ranged projectiles and for leap to kite.
Good play but have a lot f down time on dps. I used to play trapper but different play style. Problem is countering a good thief and burst guardian condi.

Most players are not aware but the highest dps build for rangers is Longbow Condi, A/D or A/T. and this build can compare about the same to an Ele burst combo/Guard just not require to be up close, and have allot of cleanse.

Zerker with damage traits.
Zerker with traits is not enough and have a huge delay of 8 sec and no matter what you add auto damage will only add couple of points. The while the bleed stay longer and constant over 1.5k lowest with just sharpening stone.
They just did not know how to handle a Rev in pvp.

Btw a/d or a/t is not an option for me because itttakes away mobility, deffensive skill like ddge from s/d and invis fom LB skill 3 and beside mid range skill like axe does not give the amount of normal damage lb and s/d can do. Ive used this build for a long long time and never seen it becomes useless but I do switch to other condi build when I get bored.

Simple build is up. It is based on bleed, poison vulnerability. Basic thing is to keep auto attack to stack some bleed to pressure target on using cleanse early and use dodge until they pop cleanse use skill 2 with sharpening stone, if target id at 40 pecent pop zyphir with sharpening stone should kill them if you want to make sure they die or not use cleanse add skill 4 on lb since it will be whole amount of your skill 2 + bleed stack damage of 1.7 to 2k per sec and you still have your entangle and poison + bleed on s/d for deffensive and continues condi. When I entangle is doing n and you need full skil 2 damage use pet that will snare them first. If your target already used all cleanse you can do full combo of skill 2+sharpening stone+zyphir then knock back skill 4. That time you will still have quickness then drop entangle then skill 5. Should be sure kill even on tank war or guard in 4 to 6 sec. If your lucky pet shoots poison then should be faster. Earth sigil and from trait does work with each other that sometimes put 2 bleeds in per crit.

Rangers are not bad per se, but any class is better than them in any espectre thats why meta players avoid them.With druid they will be “The top healer” in a party. And that is not needed or wanted, sorry.

agreed. this was my main issue with the full healer class on a game that was build with no requirement of a healer. they should give us an option of going heal or dps on the trait line of druid so that we don’t get left out.

Needs allot of rework and options that does not push away the majority of Rangers (dps rangers) to be able to use astral avatar on LB and Staff for offensive and supportive depending on your trait line where we will not be forced to build cleric set. make the gylphs useful unlike what we have now that is basically useless and still cannot replace Wilderness survival for survival cleanse and condition damage support like sharpening stone.
There’s no hard trinity coming-all I see is a good attempt on making different playstyles work better together, as originally intended. The “Berserker meta” was most likely an accident, never intended (though not discouraged), even with the lack of trinity-the no trinity=DPS is only what matters was always a lie (from a developer’s stand point-they never stated non-“zerk” gear was “training wheels”, and always offered tons of gear combo sets), as I stated from the beginning, and as revealed by ANet now.
And besides, DPS will still be viable AND needed. Nothing wrong with sticking to Berserker builds, though I doubt it will be effective for all ten players in a raid.
In short, there’s nothing wrong with the healing focus of the Druid, as there are myriads of ways already in the base game to excel at DPS, even with the base Ranger. We are talking about HoT GW2, not old content, and it seems most people’s opinions about stuff are based on their favorite Dungeon speed runs, living in the past (or in their love of DPS, which is fair, but for which we already have TONS of well-established options.)
my own view is that I am being forced to heal if I want the money I paid for to be worth it and use droods. this is why me and my friends are not happy with this just because there are already allot of ways to play the game with different builds but the point that majority chose to Zerk is just a proof that developers can make another different play style build but we will always choose the one that is more useful to spend our time grinding the gears for dungeon runs and wvw.. but we do not stop there. we also love the other classes when we get bored and grind to their equipents although I am behind still have all class at level 80 but only 5 of them are really geared. developers shouldn’t focus on how we decide on how to use our time. all they need is create more dungeon levels, the raid they made now, higher fractal, new game mode for pvp, gvg, wvw, tourney, new story ect. there are tons of things they could have focused on and not on how we decide on the time we spend to use the gear we want. keep us interested and enjoy the new things. put more stuff but don’t chain us to choose what they only want us to do because we are the customers.

NOPE!. people want diversity where you can be a healer or a damage dealer just an option. why can’t they make a different skill set on Avatar form for other weapon? why staff not really that useful, it is made to be a replacement for other weapon like LB but does not do much. skill 4 even cast like years where most of the time target can just walk on the side and does not get hit and ya I mean no dodge just move on the side because of the long cast and slow animation. glyph were supposed to be a replacement for survival skill but it does not help at all. knock back of a short range? share damage? bonus damage that no one feels? these things are a waste of utility spot but has to get it because its the only skills that works with Avatar. why force the Rangers who chose this class for dps and support to go full heal?. they don’t like the Zerker group? why are we the only who does it?. other classes had options to be support and heal like Revenant, Tempest, Guardian, Engineers. why do we need more? most of us do not want to be OP just options that will work with our play style. NOT all of us wants to be a healer with no real play skills who stands in the corner like a decoration even though all the classes have self heals and very good survival sustain. Condi damage already changed some of the players play style and runs with condi, we have tanks too just not so many. why do people run zerkers? well most of us have LIFE and we do not want to waste too much time when there are allot of things you can do in GW2 and in RL and that is the majority of the players are. we do not want it too easy because nothing is easy and all game mode requires to have enough understanding of the game mechanics.
So HoT is coming within the month, and I am left here wondering if I want to stay with a ranger as my main. It would be nice if the devs (Irenio and anyone else) would let us know if they plan to fix the critical core issues of the core ranger (pets) within the next three months. Would like to know this to inform my decision if it is time to change my main or if there is hope that core ranger will see improvements. I don’t need details, but would like to know if its just time to move on.
the new pets have allot of good things and they are the only reason why I am still playing as a Ranger never the droods tho. don’t limit your self here and go make a different class like Revenant and play both until something good really happens to Rangers, even if it takes 3 more years at least you have another class that will keep you occupied.

LOL and what are this core foundation you’re talking about? what will be the difference in HoT? are there some weird alien maze dungeon or will GW2 change everything? there is a core foundation of the game and Druid is entirely a new thing that will never work. will you ever chose a class that does not do much damage in dungeon beside heal when you can just heal your self? or will you chose a buffer and defensive buffers that can do damage? would you actually trust someone to help you survive in a boss fight when you already have the tool to do it on your own? please we have a BWE and it gives us an IDEA on what we can expect in HoT unless they suddenly change it to a different theme and or make an entire new game.
The kitten in this forum post is just over the top, because the zerker meta is why i stopped playing. I dont wana be dps on everything i freaking play, i want a healer and i want a tank? So they give you something you dislike? Get over it like i have for the past three years, the trinity is coming back. And its about kitten time, everyone running dps specs and just seeing who can hit the hardest the fastest is boring and lame. Give me my tank back so i can sit here and absorb/negate all your damage, i will be playing the druid. Why? Because its different than all the other crap we have been given, and because it will be beneficial to the group im in. Trust me when i tell you that no one rags on A-net for their choices harder than me, but i want them to do this. End the Zerker meta and bring some actual tactics into the game because right now its just this. “Here comes a engi, well gg.” OR the dagger dagger ele just ripping us apart, think about it the druid can heal allies and keep them up THROUGH the dps being pumped out. Next thing it will be the guard becoming a paladin or a warrior becoming a knight, and being able to legitimately taunt the enemy and negate their affects soaking damage. This will save the game, because there was nothing wrong with the trinity and removing it led them to making EVERY class feel the same. A warrior? You mean a thief without stealth. A ranger? You mean a thief with a bow and a lousy pet with kittenty AI.

LOL please there are tons of build. you have no idea what you are asking about and this trinity you call for is not what majority of the players loved about GW2 because we wanted a unique mechanic. ya sure most dungeons are run by zerker but there are condis too and it does not mean it is easy since you still need experience and you have to remember most players run the same dungeon every day!. now this healer class does not make the game fun or will save the game from anything, there are tons of other game with a better mechanic and healers only produce unskilled players and a very easy game play. every class have heals and all of them are sufficient enough because we also have dodge mechanic and defensive buff mechanics. I’m hoping you have played GW2 for a long time because this trinity you want will be impossible to pull and does not reward any player in any way..
I remember there are games that they say. oh I had fun, we were in dungeon and all I did was heal LOL. there are things that had to stay and just a little improvement but changing the core offer of the game to no healer require just skills is just unnecessary.
main hand Mace is basically all we get for a mid range condi.
Roy was the one who made the changes for Rev and they are good ones. UA is fine and absolutely necessary for PVE. The damage for UA goes down dramatically the moment you introduce even one more target to the picture. And you can dodge, use retaliation, use confusion, etc.
Roy makes Revenant stupidly OP while trashing ranger.
He believes Ranger can’t have too many boons by ruining We Heal as One, while Revenant gets all boons easily. (As well as the most OP heal in the game, Glint’s damage conversion with no cast time) They also have crazy strong one-hand sword and shield, better than any class using a one-hand sword or shield.
Also all Rev’s skills seem like superior version of other classes.
Actually no…. Revenants are not as strong as you think and I also get where you are coming from because I am also main Ranger and did not like the Druid just check my post on Ranger forum. I play Revenant on those BWE but mainly Ranger droods.
I can tell you this about Revenant. they are the class that requires boon to survive or and its the only way they are playable, their main damage actually are really bad.. the skills you talk about that seems better than anyone else is wrong because they are easy to counter and depending on the Revenant build they always have a high flaw just like their lack of cleanse when running a dps build, lack of damage output when running a tank build, no sustain on damage and defensive skills when running a Condi build. playing a Revenant requires common sense and hard work but keeps you challenged in every battle you face that keeps you on your toes. Revenant can kill a target fast as long as the target does not move, come near a wall, use immunity or cc you. there are so much flaw that most player just don’t see because it is still a fresh class. all of those things that you think are crazy strong about Revenant are wrong. I hoped you already played a Revenant and if you don’t I advice you too then after that tell us how many you squashed like fly without using your common sense and then prove that Revenant are superior to other class. I honestly think Revenant atm are just right and should not be nerfed. on my Ranger I always insta kill a Revenant just because I run a LB condi build.
they didn’t even let us test the pets in pvp cuz they knew they were too strong. Nerf incoming, 100% unavoidable.
ya. I am fine with the damage being toned down up to 15% for the smokescale but never under that, since it is our first ever actual DPS pet. this pet and bristle back can help the druids allot and Rangers in general in all type of game play. I made this thread because I want them to hear our voice and not destroy our last hope for a fun experience. just look at all our current pets and you all know how bad they are and not really that dependable in game.

Heres a quick fix for ya lad.
1 learn to dodge.
2 learn to use you utility skill for survival.
3 learn to use invironment like walls.
4 use heal to come back since dps rev are weak to condi coz lack of cleanse.
5 stay close with your team.
6 build a tank.
7 stay away from pvp.
If thos still does not work then play angry birds. I heard its fun and kids like it.
ANET hates us that much that even the last single piece of hope you have will get burned down to the ground.
Dont worry Druid going to get nerfed hard. Rangers want Druid to be DPSzzzz so Anet will likely nerf the healing to compensate and it will be back to a basic guardian support level.
for real? YEY that is what Majority of main Rangers wants. make a skill set for Celestial avatar Longbow and other weapons that 20% of damage you deal heals players around you in 450 ranger. ok back to reality. Healer druids are a very dull way to play and only unskilled player would want to heal because they don’t like crowded game where you have to always be aware and properly decide which skills to use.
I am sorry as a DPS ranger I do not support this play style at all. For the good of the game the smokescale needs a nerf. Like you say however I do not want to see it nerfed into the ground. The problem is that the smokescale not only has a smoke field (which is absolutely amazing) but it is doing the damage that other pets do fully buffed unbuffed. Unbuffed the smokescale really should only be hitting for about 5-6k not 9-12K.
ya it is ok to get some nerf since its a default stat for bwe to have 50k hp and high dps but we cannot let this helpful creature get burned. for all those defensive buffs out there and most class can reflect projectile and good sustain, we need the help of these beasts to survive.

please everyone let us stand together and fight to make sure our bristleback and smokescale does not get nerfed to the ground. they currently have very good dps that is a good replacement for the lack of damage we have on druids and brings flavor to Rangers. these cute little terrors are our only way to have fun for the HoT and hope that they don’t make them useless… I know we are not allowed to have good things but please let them stay useful. if you guys dont understand why then here.

you can add the fire spirit with sharpening stone as combo condi and get entangle. I can stack 25 to 30 bleeds with LB just because Skirmish have a good trait for bleed and add earth sigil to have more chance to drop bleed along with agony. get pets that immobilize or bleed targets, since now that they have 1k condi damage their bleeds stack with us now. I’ve been running condi long bow for a long long time and it is the best dps condi you can get and to top it all has a good cc and survival.
Yea I’ve tried sinister LB. The staff is especially nice because you don’t have to deal with reflects. It is a nice alternative for long distance bleed stacking if you haven’t tried it yet.
drop skill 5 it cannot be reflected and re position. your normal crit adds bleeds by a good chance for any attack even from condi like burn crits and other ones. check it if you havent noticed. try dropping a flame trap or viper’s nest and it will include a bleed when it crits.
How is this balanced when all other passive permanent movement speed traits give 25%?
Buff the others or put this one in line.

this m-speed buff should be reduced and not gain too much mobility.. why? because it creates allot of unskilled players. what you like your 33%? wow nub learn to play you have skill 3 that jumps you 1200 gap. still not satisfied and still want your 33% mspeed? well FYI druids are not supposed to be the mobile one and it should have been just in the Ranger trait, but why did they put the speed on droods? it is simple.. because droods are just a glitter added to a garbage to make it look pretty to try and make players buy it. well guess what, allot of people bought it because they are easy to fool lol.

This thread is a perfect example of what u get when Anet or devs refuse to communicate. In the end people get so frustrated that they come with remarks that are not legitimate. However, it’s far too easy to refer to these comments and use them to dismiss the whole contents of the thread. I personally have no problem with the work of the dev in charge of ranger. I do have a problem with him being overruled by another developer on such short notice and with the appalling “quality” of the “fix”.
he have to grow some.. never like the concept on druid heal and if they can make a miracle that change the system from no required healer to a required healer that does not make the game too unbalance even then it will still be garbage because it is impossible and players who like to 1v1 or do something solo will never get it.. now if someone tells me here that do not be a solo player? lol I will tell that noob that majority of our time is we play alone and use our own skill to finish the job even with other players around. only time we help is if we can interupt to save or gain buff from others.
