I haven’t seen any fly hacks here on IoJ. I haven’t personally seen SoS do it either, but that is probably because you guys are smashing their faces into the dirt as well and I haven’t been able to catch a glimpse of a single SoS player all week.
I can see the temptation to hack/exploit in this situation though. If I didn’t have morals or common sense I would probably do it too.
Also as for you saying that you “diplomatic” missions are not exploits. Tomato, Tomahto. Yes, transferring to another server is not an exploit. Recruiting on your own server is not an exploit. When you are sending people to other servers to explicitly recruit people who can put up a fight against you, that is the line that you crossed.
If this were real life and you were running a company, you would be investigated for anti-competitive acts. Something that is flat out illegal. Be glad this is just a game and you can instead get your rocks off from ruining the enjoyment of others.
let me be clear. we are not going to your server with specific people that we are trying to take. we are however just putting a general bulletin out saying “hey we need more people to join us at late night as we work toward #1 server” the exact same thing is done on the forums, and happens on the forums. while we may be crushing you right now, we can tell you that the battle in the 1st bracket is much more balanced and even, because they are all servers that are putting in the same work as we are now.
again we dont force anyone to join us, its just another form of advertisement. anyone who does come, does so purely because they want too. as long as people from our server stay out of the actual battle, all it is an easily blockable advertisement.
if you really want to be mad about people undermining servers, look at the other server brackets who are transfering entire guilds to manipulate the server population to their “home” servers advantage. these guys are violating the spirit of play in an invasive way. we simply put 3 sentences in chat.

I am just going by what the cross – servering officer said “you can jump right up there” and he was using there siege the officer kept it fireing in the same place then the ruin team moved gardians there to try to reflect the dmg in order to destroy it.
see this is something i did not know. looking into it, will post what comes out of an investigation.

every major wvw server is recruiting from other servers. just read these forums and you will see it. hell we have members from IOJ and SOS spamming our LA right now. at the end of the day recruiting is absolutely mandatory to compete at higher levels.
Well you people disgust me that you would selfishly risk destroying this game on the scale that its currently on for your own selfish egotistic pleasures.

i was going to let this go.. but really? i mean really? just because we recruit to our server means we are trying to kill the game? its not like we are slaving your members away. anyone who transfers does it willingly. i also actively support you guys organizing yourselves to fight us. in another thread i gave you the guidelines to setting up a successful alliance to fight us.
we have no intention of killing your server, we will however accept people who wish to leave as we are still a really REALLY low population server.
i dont see how this has anything to do with my real life, i happen to have a fairly active social life, i just also happen to use gaming as my hobby, and i take a small amount of pride in the work that my guild does. now would i run around parties telling every girl i meet that im leet in pvp and long term strategy… hell no, but in this environment i see fit to defend our server’s position.
again we neither exploit or break the spirit of gameplay by 1. winning 2. recruiting.

transfering to another server is not an exploit. recruiting is not an exploit. now last i checked that siege is not destroyable unless you retaliate the damage back at the trebs.
arena net’s suggestion is toward people who are complaining about queues, not server propulation in general. idealing people wouldnt group up on the same servers, but arenanet cant/wont enforce that. your desperately looking for something that makes ET look like the bad guys here, but you dont have a viable leg to stand on.
now if you want to talk about exploiting.. whoses server is the one using fly hacks?

again i dont see the actual issue with telling people who are exploiting/hacking to get an advantage that they will be banned. had he been cross realming, attempting to give missleading directions to your pugs, using your siege, or passing intel. thats a different story. actively calling out hackers/exploiters and getting their character names is entirely different.
your clearly not suppose to build siege in a place that you have to fly hack to get to, using it to take down the walls of a tower and a keep is even more pathetic

The pvp director and the GM of ruin seem to have different views on this subject. Tonight I was hanging out in there vent and was removed when I reprimanded them for cross-servering.
The officer that went over to SoS said it was to report players for using the trebs on the hill of sos spawn in EB. I said to them with all the stuff on the forums and the stink you made about other servers doing it you should not no matter your justification of the matter.
After a few hours of the officer mindlessly anouncing his actions on SoS to us the GM replied “I don’t know why they would exploit we have already won; what can they gain from it?” and I replied " The same could be said about yourselfs." and was Promptly removed from the TS server.
This instance aside I have seen little questionable behavior from them.
this is news to me. i know we are sending “diplomatic” missions to other servers at late night to recruit for next weeks battle. but no officer should have been in WvW, for long periods of time even. i dont wish to sweep a situation under the rug, but the first question that jumps to my mind is, “why were you in our teamspeak?”
also we do frequently come against members of your server who are hack flying over our walls/ placing siege in impossible places (the mountain above your spawn) and players with invulnerability in our spawn 1 shotting 10-15 people. so sending someone over to complain i dont find that bad. now if he was actively interfering with your ability to compete, thats an entirely different story.

i personally find this interesting because ET’s major issue is that we almost no oceanic coverage till this matchup. where were we are going against 2 servers that until this week had a pretty serious night crew (sos being the unofficial oceanic server, and for what ever reason ioj had a serious amount in our last threat assesment) but it appears that with the week long battle, they dont seem to be sticking around.
now heres the real issue. ET is only 2nd to keining (which is a ghost town) in population, yet somehow we are able to fill all our ques at all times. this is because of motivation. and this is largely something arena net cant really help. as it stands your servers are far better equipped to take us on then you give it credit for. unfortunately you fail to realize that the battle is not yet lost and that if you really pushed for it, you could be competative.
right now arena net must decide if they need to heavily incentivize WvW, which it already it (the bonuses and epic battles alone pay for themselves) but they need to be very delicate on the tweaking. too much of a bonus and it would be more beneficial to just lose every match and reap the benefits of being the loser. too little and they are just gona get a mountain of qq.
i do think that the orbs should provide a purely financial benefit to those who hold it and allow undermanned to give some MINOR stat bonuses (2% hp) to make a up a very large gap. but i cannot stress hard enough that these bonuses should be MINOR too much and a smaller force could wipe out a larger force just because they are the smaller force. again something arena net needs to tweak VERY light handedly

hai ruin(ite?) i fully agree with you at least for us, we need this. managing a guild of 1200(?not up to the daily count) and attempting to tax them by hand is not only annoying to our members but also leads to friction between the members and the officers. a automatic system (either the wow or eve methods) would be greatly appreciated
wow method: non-invasive: as a member earns money, bonus money is generated and sent to the guild bank.
eve method: invasive: % set by guild leader: as player earns money, a certain % is taken and placed in the guild bank.
i feel most people would be more welcoming to the wow method. the eve method has a few useful situations (ie. 100% tax during keep takes to generate large amounts of money, that could ensure that buying siege is no longer the burden of soldier but of the leadership)

i can tell you this wont be an easy feat. alliances are fickle and easily offended creatures. i do not wish to sway you from doing this, infact i greatly encourage it. better coordination will make you better which in turn will make the community better.
here are some issues you will have to overcome, find the answers to these and you will be setting yourself up for success, ignore them and watch as your hard work goes up in smoke.
- 1. 10 chieftans or 1 emperor: the death of 90% of alliances is leadership. no one will every say that they do not have the experience to lead and the smallest notion that they might (even if its clear they dont) will bring down the whole house of cards, quickly the fight will focus from the enemy and into yourselves. so having several small leaders doesnt work out to well unless you dont touch eachothers villages with a 100 mile pole, so lets look at the emperor. the emperor is a single leader/guild that coordinates the other. this works well in the long run, but ultimately requires people to agree earlier on that they cannot offer what you offer. people are less likely (especially on the internet) to give into the demands of others and unless you have VASTLY superior force/coordination ability, your right to leadership will always be called into question (wasnt it easier back in the day when you could just claim divine right…)
- 2. communication: i can tell you this is still very much an issue in ET and will continue to be an issue until our guilds can get over their wish to be unique and beautiful snowflakes and understand that for the greater good of the server, easier communication should always be a priority. (im refering to the fact that ruin has a 1000-2000 man teamspeak which could easily house all WVW activity in a open environment, but people prefer to stay on their individual 20 man ventrillos/mumbles and the idea of doing the logical thing, would mean they would have to work in another guilds environment) LEARN FROM THIS, while it may remove some of your unique flare, put the good of the server over any inter-guild drama/BS
- 3. divide the battle field: no single guild can rule WVW it takes the combined work of hundreds of people to ensure success. to better facilitate this, split up borderlands/eb between guilds. if you have enough in the alliance, start breaking it down into time blocks where guilds are in charge of say a 5 hour block of time to dedicate to wvw
- 4. try desperately to make it clear to the pugs that to ensure success you either need them to help, or to stand aside. because of the queuing system pugs throw a serious wrench in most battle plans. right now getting a commander tag helps a lot, but pugs need to realize that largely being unwilling to work with the large server community harms the server in general. (honestly i wish arena net has some sort of vote kick system where you could remove afk’rs or people who are being kitten and just running around trying to solo keeps)
this is just a rough list that i can think of before i go to bed. i know somewhere in there i went from bullet points to advice tips but long posts are hard and words and stuff.

smokey im going to leave this here. in it i explain our guilds feeling on competition. WE DO NOT CROSS REALM/SPY ON THE SERVERS WE FIGHT. we do however have an entire core of our guild (50+ people) dedicated to being positioned around the map to call out enemy movements. just because you dont see them doesnt me they dont see you.
in it you will also find out what happens to members of our organization who are caught on other servers. (hint, we kick them and shame them publicly)

Thanks for the response. It was the guy Nohonor that I saw and I read on the other thread that he has been kicked. Good job on keeping your ship clean.
rumors fly around so fast these days, we need to be proactive. in the past ruin has always been the target of these complaints and we have just let the enemy say what ever they wanted because we didn’t need to rely on alliances and maintaining a proper public image. but with WVW being the way it is, we need to prove to the community as a whole that while we are the big tough e-bullys that we are, that we also play by the rules, and have our own weird sense of honor when it comes to a fight.

there are several reasons why you guys are having such a terrible time, most of which arena net doesnt have control over.
1. coordination: our server is ment to be a dedicated WVWVW server. every guild who is here, its here solely for WVW.
2. 4 wvw focused servers: right now there are 4 servers who are dedicated to WVW in this way, because of this there will always be 1 server not in the top bracket who will be placed against lower population, lower coordinated servers.
3. free transfers: i can not stress this enough. FREE TRANSFERS DURING WEEK MATCHES IS A BAD IDEA. i scouted every bracket this morning and it is the same story on every one. 1 server is rofl stomping the other 2. the reason for this is because when the 1 server started winning early on due to other factors, EVERYONE jumped ship and transfered onto that server for the week, for bonuses or god know what else. arena net needs to stop this if they hope to keep server balance alive.
as of right now there are only a few things you can do.
1.start working together with your server. communication between guilds is absolutely mandatory. this isnt wow and the tribal c**k slapping isnt going to help you. either definitively set 1 guild as your grand puba, or agree that no one guild is better then another (this is the hardest step and inevitably diplomacy crashes and burns at this point, coz the internet is for big kids and big kids dont play nice)
2. if your really want to win. work for it, dont just roll over and die when you get beaten up. learn from your loses and use them to your advantage. i can tell you that before ruin became the dominant force in every game it plays, it spent 2/3rds of its existence fighting as the underdog and losing MANY MANY battles. its not the wins that define your force, its how you learn from your loses. use this time to study our strategy (and trust me we have them), from there find ways to break up that strat using class mechanics, siege, leet skillz.
wvwvw is not ment to be fair, and while yes ET is beating you guys remember WE ARE STILL ONE OF THE LOWEST POPULATION SERVERS IN THE GAME, if you concentrated your players you could be fighting us toe-to-toe all it takes is a little coordination and determination.
*edit: on reading this it does sound condicending as hell, and i really dont mean it that way. arena net needs to make some changes but overall imo the game has a pvp solution to all your pvp problems, you just need to understand that wvw requires much more information/communication/work to be successful. this isnt something that happens over night, it takes weeks of diplomacy, months of leadership training and in our case years of practice to get to the point we are today.

Re: SoS attacking IoJ it not from lack of trying by guilds on those servers to get them to focus on ET. Ruin (ET Guild) has players on SOS leading the Zerg around dropping siege even to keep them moving on IoJ assets. Try as we might our players are largely puppets and seem to enjoy it.
raf. as a director of PVP in ruin i can tell you that, that is a flat out lie. ruin does not engage in cross realming. it ruins (heh) the spirit of the game by manipulating the forces of another server. anyone who is doing this is violating our guild rules and if reported will be removed.
that said i would be lying if i said that we weren’t intentionally driving this win home. our key weakness is that ET has a very VERY small oceanic presence, and as it stands HOD main claim to victory is offhours play. ET was expecting to play HOD this week, but due to match making we have been given the opportunity to prepare for the battle for a week. it just so happens that we are given 2 servers with very heavy oceanic guilds, by winning we hope to prove to these guilds that combined our day force and your night force would be powerful enough to match the power of HOD and prove for a better combined assault.
tl:dr we aren’t cross realming and we are hoping to recruit guilds to ET

Spirit of the game? Do you know what Eredon Terrace does on all of the Borderlands? You farm both Isle of Janthir and Sea of Sorrows at their spawn. You built Siege Weapons outside SoS EB spawn point.
I sat on the Eredon Terrace Borderlands for half an hour, observing the pathetic cheapness of your server. I sat invulnerable outside my own spawn point and still 30 Eredon Terrace players sat and spammed abilities against me.
you guys clearly have a bias and logic doesn’t really seem to be an issue here, i have stated our guild policy and how we play above, and we take that seriously.
we do not play in the borderlands, so i cant speak for the other guilds, but there is a fundamental difference between spawn camping and transferring to a different server, using up wvw spots and destroying your ability to even try. we as a server do not condone this and have/will remove anyone who considers this a viable strategy

there is a pvp solution to your pvp problem. if you want to win. get organized. if you arent willing to try organize your server, you have no one to blame but yourself. be the solution, not the problem
