It has come to my attention that the Soldier jewelry (power, toughness, vitality) cannot be crafted. To my knowledge, no exotic jewelry is available for dungeon tokens or karma.
Does that leave the Invader set (WvW) as the only exotic jewelry with those stats in the game? If so, that’s terrible. The amount of badges required for all pieces dwarfs that needed for a Legendary weapon.
Am I missing something?
A few points here:
System stats (all clocks at factory speeds):
Phenom II X4 955
4 GB DDR2 1066
Radeon HD 5770 (1 GB)
500 GB 7200 RPM Drive (WD Black)
It’s not likely to be network- or non-HD-related, as my system and connection are sound (it could be a memory issue since GW2 likes to chew on upwards of 2GB, although I doubt it).
My drive is a fairly new magnetic unit (7200 RPM) that otherwise is very responsive. I have of course defragmented it and checked to see if gw2.dat remained fragmented (it is not).
I cannot accept the argument that I need an SSD to enjoy the game.
Other games, including more demanding ones, load at acceptable rates. This leads me to believe that we have an issue with optimization or over-compression of game assets.

I’m not complaining about more of a challenge. I’m posting because it wasn’t in the patch notes and it may not be intentional. Also, with the trash doing this kind of damage it will be much harder for non-80s to complete this explorable.
@yerffejy if your referring to the alter being destroyed that was due to lightning not someone glitching.
Oh it had nothing to do with the 4+ players in our Lord room who glitched through 2 series of walls in order to get there, and happened to have the orb before someone from SBI killed them?
Ditto to the OP. Load times are absurd.
It’s on the list of Mesmer bugs and to my knowledge has remained unfixed since the BWEs. The secondary effect on the skill involves a swap with the clone, and that swap often fails (usually when failure occurs it ports the player only a few feet forward, or nowhere at all).
Wait, so you’re admitting to exploiting?
Is this another, “dungeons are too easy, make everyone suffer for my sake” thread?
Uh, stealth buff to their damage? Why did you do this?
Please don’t post inflammatory threads.
Why does it take 45+ seconds to load Lion’s Arch? Has anyone else noticed relatively long load times in this game?

I agree with the OP. Nighetcapping is only an issue because it is such a high yield activity. It also demoralizes opposing teams to the point where they stop playing until the next matchup.
Good to know that we can expect WvW to die a pitiful death within a couple of months due to ANet’s stubborn refusal to tweak a broken game mode.
Has anyone done any min-maxing for end-game Guardians in PvE content? I have seen a wealth of information here and elsewhere, but much of it is contradictory. Some definitive information would be most excellent.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I should clarify that I’m not interested in a single particular build but those calculated to be high-yield that might appeal to varying play styles.

I personally would suggest for you to stay with us. Think about it, other servers ARE getting better. Good enough to beat us? lol no.
HoD got stomped up until the reset zerging and night capping started. PRX and CND were stuck in the same BL getting humiliated for over 48 hours straight.
So WvW should cater to 5% of the server’s population? This troll thread needs to be purged.
ANet released a flawed game mode, but it took a certain alliance to break it. All of us can now eagerly await the rebirth of WvW, assuming that it can be fixed.
Instead of removing scoring, just replace it with bonuses that you get for holding a keep/tower/camp that slowly increase over time, resetting the bonus when the keep is captured by another server. So instead of capping a tower because it gives you X points every 15 mins, you cap it and hold it because it awards your server with a bonus 1%/2%/3% karma gain that grows the longer you hold it. That would make wvw feel much more approachable for casuals who don’t want to stay up 24/7 to compete for bragging rights.
Also a very reasonable suggestion. So why did ANet think that this scoring system would work? After only a few weeks of uptime, it has become painfully obvious that it is unsustainable. Was QA insufficient?
I couldn’t disagree more.
It’s exactly the people’s actions that decide WvW. If anything, we decide too much of WvW, with no random element present, it turns out the server rankings are pretty static and the matches are usually decided in a couple of days.
So WvW is perfectly healthy and there is no evidence that people are starting to give up on the broken game mode?
Slow reaction time kills MMOs. Ask Bioware.
As much as it pains me to say it, WvW is heading into TORtanic territory with each passing day the glaring issues go unfixed.
GW2 released Aug 28th.
Not even 1mo old.
Gotta give problems time to be resolved.
I’m sure Arenanet will comeup with something.
Yes but at that time will interest in WvW have passed some critical threshold in population loss from which it will not recover?
2 weeks tops.
If the players don’t fix the problem for balanced fights so all can enjoy and ANet doesn’t intervene – I suspect a large drop in pvp participation from the majority of servers.Really people, it’s everyone’s problem. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot because you want to win at any cost.
I agree completely. I don’t understand why certain groups are so short-sighted that they would gladly destroy GW2 and WvW in order to “win.”
They should just remove the scoring mechanism entirely. It’s the PvP that matters, not the score. Sadly, you’ll notice that lots of people from SBI/HoD/JQ/ET only care about being a top tier server, when all that means is your off-prime shift and population is higher than everyone elses. If they were to remove the scoring system, perhaps people would play for the actual PvP, rather than to cap an empy map versus no real opponents.
I support this. Either way, if the system remains as-is, people are going to give up on WvW.
We all know that WvW is headed for an obvious death as people gradually realize that their accomplishments and efforts have zero impact on match outcomes. We should thank those responsible for the sad and untimely demise of WvW, as they are helping ANet to avoid such game design oversights in the future.
So HOD has lead the points per tick all night during your prime time tonight?
Who you gonna blame that on?
Before long it will be 24 hours straight HOD has lead in point per tick every tick.
Pick the hour that is your perfect time for your server, all the stars align, the sun is not in your eyes, YOU LOST THAT HOUR TOO.
LOL
HoD was at #2 or #3 in points/tick for 90%+ of the time until the server reset occurred. They magically gained 25k points after grabbing everything following the reset. So yeah, they were outplayed since Friday, and their only means of winning has been fighting against ghosts.
What you and the vast majority of the HoD players in this thread is the opposite and instead of taking it as a signal to spread out to lessen queues and to help balance servers, you take it as a sign of superiority.
You missed the hint, by a mile.
Pretty much this, yes. Now that the HoD off-hour crew has failed to respond to Anet’s subtle nudging, expect more severe methods to be deployed. After all, they asked nicely, and you ignored them.

It always amuses me when I read these forums and see people saying that ET has no oceanic presence. Last i checked most of the guilds in AA are oceanic guilds. In this last week, ET has managed to not only hold its own, but convincingly win during oceanic prime time against SOS and IoJ, two supposedly oceanic servers. Results speak for themselves.

How many threads have you copy+pasted this into so far? I count at least 4. Obvious spammer.

From what i can see here is just you are trying to find a reason to win in this arguement that HoD ‘exploits’ ‘zerged’ everything that you can think off. So.. After a patch, should ANet put a 10 mins wvw lockdown before anyone can go in? Or put a lockdown until YOU can go in? It’ll be the same result. I don’t get what are you argueing about? Like what happened in wvw when it was 24hr per lineup, people zerg after each resets each day. Why didn’t you bring this up at that time? Let me make this clear, EVERYONE goes out to patch, EVERYONE logs in the same time, EVERYONE rushes into wvw. So are you trying to say HoD has a advantage of going into WvW after every patch?
I feel like I’m talking to a magic box that takes my logical arguments, distorts them, and then prints out a predictable and inane response.
HoD has thus far zerged after every server reset (in the week-long format matches), pushing to ~+600 tick thanks to keep defenders being kicked from the game. If you’re going to make any attempt to defend that tactic you should probably just stop talking to me because I’m not crazy.
Night capping is an issue and it's ruining the fun for everyone involved

It’s here to stay, so get used to it. Anet already stating they have no plans to counter this, but since people have a hard time searching a forum; they can’t find the post related to that. Recruit more late night guilds… Nuff said.
I’m going to giggle gleefully when Anet addresses this issue and you’re left with an endless queue thanks to your timezone stacking.

You are looking at it wrong, we all want competitive play, my guild (TRF) rolled with TA because we though being placed in the top bracket would ensure we had good PvP in our playtimes.
If that doesn`t occur then things will need to change one way or another. What i`m after is some actual data ideally from other guilds in the oceanic and SEA timezones as to what their expectations are, what can they field, how often etc.
With that data we as a playerbase may be able to do something, if that means Oceanics transferring, US guilds transferring to SoS or IoJ or alliances breaking up it is better than the game dying on itskittenbecause we all wait for a non ideal mechanical solution.
I laughed. Good PvP is setting up rams at undefended doors and killing Tower Lords? You’re confusing PvE with PvP.
