There are many ways to skin a cat, young grasshopper. And Engineers are obsessive bunch.. we skin the same cat the same way multiple times, each time watching it meow in pain.
Ultimately, Engies are supposed to weave in and out of the combat. We are at heart a support class, so are expected to run up to the think of it at opportune moments to drop items (whether this be turrets or buffs) for our friends, or to debuff the enemies.
I don’t like this analogy :<
Third downed ability has a really long warmup timer, but it hits like a TRUCK and AoE knockback is crazy good. More than a few times have I Booby Trapped a person off a cliff and rallied off of them. Hilarious. In sPVP you have a lot more opportunities to use it than WvWvW. I love it personally, although I agree i’d love to see it shortened by a couple seconds.
Number 2 is a great skill; the intention is to use the pull at an opportune time to set up your booby trap. Not always possible, but there’s other great uses! Pull people away from other downed allies, interrupt dunks, and best of all; pull people into the champion guards outside of spawncamps. Fun times!
All in all I think engineer’s downed skills are great. Much better than mesmer or ranger downed skills :>
I chose charr because I really lovgigbkndmjm.//.////…./.,,,.,nhm …, ,. ./ ,,,/,.
MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW
Gonna make omnomberry ghosts and pumpkin cookies, and eat them all before the world ends on december 21st. I’ll share!
I’m a charr. I think it’s hilarious that people freak out when I do Clock Tower. “GET YOUR FAT kitten OUT OF THE WAY MEDICAT” all the time ahahaha
Hey man, i’m just trying to get my treat bags. If you can’t see, that’s not my problem.
So players like this intentionally agitate other players who are struggling with the puzzle.
Then other players start spawning their elite summons, and dragging more trash into the puzzle.
Suddenly a minute or two is entirely wasted while excess pets are all over the screen.
I’m happy that some of you can do the puzzle blindfolded. That’s nice.
Many of us are visually oriented. No amount of telling us to do things ‘blindly’ is going to make it happen suddenly.
It might happen after a 30 or so successful attempts at something (30 or so being a ‘nice’ number at which something can become habitual); however, in order for this to happen, we’d have to be able to see what we were doing in the first place to be successful.
Why is this so hard for people to understand?
Why is their immediate response “sorry you fail and are incompetent, go do something else” ???
I like how you’re assuming that just because i’m trying to partake in the same event everyone else is, is that i’m intentionally agitating other people. What do you propose I do? Stay out of your way because I have a large character model?
I said I found it funny that people whine and moan about me doing the same event that they’re doing, and I stand by that. I said it’s not my problem because it isn’t; that doesn’t make my intentions malicious. I shouldn’t have to ‘stay in the back’ or ‘wait for other people to finish it’ just because i’m FLUFFY.

I don’t know anything about the scavenger hunt; sorry!
There’s 36 pumpkins per map (i think). They’re cleverly hidden, and you get the title ‘Master Carver’ if you carve some obscene number of them.
The clock tower puzzle is in Mad King’s Labyrinth. Go through a Haunted Door, and talk to the NPC near the portal (Don’t take the portal). He’ll bring you to the Clock Tower.
The Mad King dungeon is in the Grand Piazza in Lion’s Arch.
I hope that helps :>
You should drop 10 points in alchemy and put them in tools. For a tank build with medkit, the toolbelt recharge at 25% hp is too good to pass up. It’s saved my kitten countless times.
Otherwise, this build is pretty decent if you really must have turrets.
I personally say ditch the turrets and replace them with Elixir B and S.
Norn Snow Leopard elite is OP.
If you want to be a tank engineer, Sylvari toolbelt skill is a block. That means you can have 3 blocks (Static shield, Toolkit gear shield, Vine shield). That’s 7 seconds of blocking. Absurd.
Look at the wiki and see what racials and toolbelt skills associated with them suit your playstyle the best. None of them are worth playing a char you don’t want to play, though.

I want to be able to repair siege :<
I also think being able to equip 2h hammers would be a pretty nice addition. Give the 1-5 some nice engineer-related skills, like an AoE daze and maybe a leap or whirl gap closer of some sort.
Stealth potion.

Just to clarify, I think engineer has the least number of viable PvP builds, which is different than saying the class is underpowered. But you and I always end up in this same spot, with me urging you to stick to the issues being discussed instead of blaming the players for perceived problems of the class. If my claim is incorrect, I’m sure a smart guy like you can prove it empirically instead of resorting to “your just bad / uncreative.”
I agree with this dude on the ‘least number of viable pvp builds’ thing. Grenadier and Static discharge/Rifle spam builds are the only two that can do competitive damage with other classes, and Bunker Bombs is pretty much the best point holding build you can have in sPvP. There’s so many skills that just aren’t up to snuff for pvp (Tool kit, Flamethrower, turrets) we just can’t incorporate them into our build lineup and be decent with it. If they tweaked skills around and improved our skill selection (scale turret damage, fix half of our traits so they work on what they’re meant to) then we’ll definitely have the MOST viable pvp builds.
Medkit :>
Low CD heal, resets at 25% hp. In coordinated play, putting lines of medkits and antidotes saves kitten in pvp. Really awesome skill. Also, infinite swiftness with speedy kits, and infinite AoE swiftness with 6/6 runes of centaur. Best heal hands down.
i’m looking at the definition of event here and it pretty much matches what happened. There was no specification that it was a dynamic event. The cinematic WAS a one-time, in-game ‘event’. Assuming it’s a dynamic event just because they share the same word is your error. :>
So why should we be forced to watch youtube just because we couldnt attend a specific time?
It could have just as easily been achieved by having an instance you can trigger right near the statue, or an instance triggered by an NPC that shows the cinematic.
Probably because A-NET had more important things to do than write new code for a 10 second cutscene :>
C’mon, it’s not really a big deal.
how appropriately somber. this is exactly how i felt when i opened my 100 chests.
I think this symbolizes the poor souls that dig deep into their pockets and jam their keys into chests, longing for their bounties to come.
don’t you guys ever think that the drop rate is low because ANet wanted the item to be rare? If everyone got skins from every chest, and everyone was running around with halloween skinned weapons, wouldn’t you feel like it was less of an accomplishment to have one? seriously now :<
Either that, or just that it’s more profitable to sell more keys…
I’m positive A’Net wanted to make the droprate low for our feeling of having something rare. Not because of the sales of keys and such.
Why can’t it be both?

Accomplishment? What? This is a holiday, this is supposed to be everyone running around in halloween costumes and having fun, not a contest to see who can win the most gold or spend the most cash on the event.
If you wanted to run around with halloween themed items and have fun, then you would’ve spent candy corn on the skins that had a time limit on them. Or you know, do all of the other stuff in the event that allows you to run around in a halloween costume and have fun. Gambling on the Black Lion Chests is for a permanent version which people can flaunt off year round and look cool with. It makes perfect sense for the items to be rare.

It’s just luck, guys. You knew you were gambling!
Mesmer portals and thief camp stalling: Why these tactics are important for WvW
in WvW
Posted by: mischwoof.9785
There’s nothing wrong with mesmer portals porting infinite people. The thing is only open like what, 5 seconds? It’s not like people can go in, fight, and get out from the same portal within any meaningful timeframe. It’s a niche ability and it’s really good, but it’s not gamebreaking unless everyone is dumb and doesn’t sweep. EXCEPT:
I can see ANet fixing golems so they can’t take mesmer portals; that’s likely a bug anyway. Likewise it’s understandable for exploits involving mesmer portals to be fixed.
But the core mechanic of mesmer portals are fine, and it’s easily countered. Sweep your keeps and you won’t have any problems with being backcapped. I don’t see what the big deal is.
Also cloak and dagger thieves can be shut down really easily on a point just by AOEing, and by dropping phantasms/engineer turrets.
It was pretty obviously just night capping, you can just look at the server data and see that the match was completely even until your server 100% capped everything between 1-6am Saturday morning. GoM is such a dead server (especially with large guilds transferring away) unless its between 6pm-12am and that’s not anyone else’s fault. It just is what it is. The server used to at least be competitive on Friday-Sunday to start a matchup, but now people don’t even play much on the weekends.

100% Night capping is just getting so old for people now, I don’t think a lot of people even care to try anymore. Just a really sad flaw with the WvW aspect of the game.
6PM -12AM in whose timezone, why is the concept of a world outside of the USA so hard to understand for some players. The game is marketed worldwide but those from outside the USA are continually accused of the equivalent to cheating for just playing the game in our primetime. WvW match up reset is roughly just after 10AM on a Saturday morning for me but I am accused of using bad tactics if I then play for around 12 hours to help my server.
This is a criticism of the false concept of “night capping” not the poster who I quoted. If your server has no oceanic base, try to recruit some guilds that have OC/Asain timezone players by advertising no waiting for WvW.
But.. NA matchups. It’s not a false concept; oceanic players know there’s a free win on an NA server against a server with nobody online during their primetime, and you know the system is broken when you need to have overseas players just to be competitive against other NA servers. This game should either have real balance for variable server populations, or region locking. Not neither. ‘night capping’ is definitely an issue, honestly.
