The issue is. they go stealth, and there’s no counter play. I can blow cooldowns/dodges trying to avoid the incoming damage, but they just stealth again if they don’t get the attack resetting the fight in their favour and your manouveres achieved nothing.
To people who say ‘You can predict where they are in stealth!’. Don’t, I mained a thief for a year, and if you’re any good on one your oponent has no idea where you are.
If this guy can c&d a stealthed thief you predict where he is and hit him.

Thieves are fine actually. You have to understand that the average player running around isn’t very good at 1v1 in WvW. The reason for that isn’t player skill, but rather their spec. Most people spec for zerg combat. While that is great for a zerg, it will not win a 1v1 vs anyone, especially against a thief who is running a 1v1 spec.

Most of people die becouse they are used to play in blobfarmingtrains (ofc wvw pow), not becouse this game doesn’t offer some counterplay… If you know your enemy you can beat it, otherwise complaints start as usual.
Also a lot of people start to run giving to thief their free back, and this is a thing that will never die.
Just take a look, for example, what this game is in pve side: brainless farm. Most difficult thing is party queue during a big boss event. And this is what people really want, farm.
You can farm a boss as you can farm a tower in wvw, and a farmer is clearly not a pvp player (even if in wvw side)
As always cries and complaints are cheaper and involve less brain.

Why not just remove the Leap combo from Heartseeker? How much would that affect the class in a bad way Vs how it would make the class more balanced not to be able to go stealth so easily and for us a low cost.

the problem is that you assume zero lag. Thieves benefit from lag more than any other class. I’ve seen enemies unresponsive to my burst thief simply because all 4 hits land at once from their perspective. they tell me later that it looks as though they got hit for 20k all at once. you cannot respond to that. sorry.

As much as i would i dont like it, i think Stealth needs to be handled the same way it is in WoW, want to have stealth? Time to make it so they go SLOWER than normal speed, say 25% slower with a high costing trait to removal that. Then Once in combat Your stealth is very much limited, You have access to it but its of WHEN to use it and not a spammable mechanic
Then they should fix the classes Initiative cost, all they need to do is burst in force you to use cool downs stealth away, reset the fight and regain health and initiative and rinse and repeat, stealth has No risk to it what so ever. Sure you might get caught once in a while but when it is SO easy to reset a fight and have all your weapon skills ready to be spammed again while your target has cool downs it makes it very unbalanced.
Played necro for 9 months, started a thief just for 1) fun 2) l2p the class (know your enemy) 3) bored about the brainless aoe spam meta in wvw.
If you need that nerfbat you’re simply admitting you are not able to handle thieves after 1 year. And this is not a game’s issue or a problem related to the op, just your’s.
Anyway as i said an instant revealed buff should be enough when you pass through an enemy safe zone.
Just fix it with some automatic revealed buff while inside enemy safe zone or what the hell.

So, Warrior escaping while fully visible = Not ok
Thieves escaping while fully invisible = Ok
Hint, there is really no difference between the two regardless of speed. I suppose you could try CC’ing the visible Warrior, but that is just crazy talk.
So, warriors escaping while full visible with passive regen, high armor/health, stability and invulnerability, condi clear = OK
Thieves escaping with permastealth nerf, low armor/health, they can be damaged and cced while in stealth (i know, it’s hard to understand but it’s true) = not ok becouse they are thieves and they are OP period QQ

People get engraged that thieves can escape fights. They miss the fact that, if the thief is fleeing, that doesn’t mean the thief won.
They also miss the fact that there are other classes that can do the same things, but in this game if a thief does something is OP and deserve to be nerfed.

This is a game and playing a class, in this case thief, should be funny and enjoyable. Devs are doing everything in their power to make the class frustrating.
