Till mapchat will be part of this game you cannot force people using a third-party software. Overall (tbh) most of time people who talk in TS is really annoying. It’s not a guild raid. Less QQ about TS pls and deal with it.
And least but not the last if people is not able to follow a blue dot.. just meh.
Venoms in the current form are the best way to waste all utilities and traits doing something that necros and engis do just smashing the face on the keyboard: spam conditions.
And a thief class should be a… thief class (spike damage or condi i dont care) not a nurse or a buffbot. Pity devs don’t understand it. Too busy to buff warriors. Godkiddomode ftw!
Melee focused classes should be fast. It isn’t like a warrior can stealth. They have limited ability to block so the only thing they can really do is run.
There are also a couple classes that can keep up with Warrior so they aren’t the fastest.
The problem is that this game has no melee classes and ranged classes, it is all done in builds. For example a riffle warrior is more ranged than a dd ele while a staff ele is more ranged than a axe warrior.
So range cannot be taken in account for balancing the mobility of classes. That being said i think that mobility should be tied with squishyness, which is why i think that warriors are too mobile.
More then the squishyness (even if i agree) there is the design. For example for months devs said that the necromancer cannot be a fast class becouse of design and that’s why it’s tanky. And i agree, never complained about that, even when there isn’t dhuumfure, the DS fix etc (so a lot less strong). In the same way while i’m on my thief i pretend to be a lot faster then a tanky warrior and a lot more evasive becouse of design. It’s a thief/assassin class in light armor, not a big energumen with an hammer.
Meanwhile a random warrior can chase you without any difficult and if in trouble run away in the same silly way, maybe with stability or invulnerability. Too much for a class op in zerg/group as well.
What are you thieves talking about? If GS + S/W warrior wants to run away you can’t really stop him. If he’s pure glass you might be able to kill him first, but if he’s a bunker and at high health he’ll eventually outrun you. Thieves will generally beat warriors in quick sprints, but not distance running.
This. Perma swiftness+fast movement skills+invulnerability+stability.
Even in quick sprints with the right skill the warrior can outrun a thief.
And most of warriors are NOT glassy. So..
playing a ninja medic doesn’t seem fun to me.
Becouse it isn’t.
If i’m on thief it’s becouse i wanna play a thief/assassin class, not a surrogate of something else. I don’t want an utility class.
Otherwise, if this is devs’ direction, i come back to my necro or warrior becouse, right now, seems pointless play a thief class in this game.
Pity, becouse i like it more then other classes since this brainless meta is on.

it’s not envy, it’s about balance, design and nerfs patch after patch. Quite different from envy..
A mesmer or two is very good for a zerg, mandatory even. But you dont need more then a few. Most professions dont scale up very well the more you stack of them. Warriors and Guardians stack up best, and getting another guardian or warrior over more of another profession is almost always better.
True. And this happens becouse this game doesn’t really have “roles”.
When you have 1 or 2 mesmers for they few skills, eles for some fields you need only warriors and guardians. This becouse they can provide themselves all what a zerg needs: tons of damage, CCs everywhere, buff fest, insane healing and defence. All. And since some of them will be barely OP in roaming as well we will have some issues with a mono class/meta game. And this is boring!
I laugh when someone says they are not strong individually. Maybe guards are more balanced but warriors are totally out of control..
Strong roamers and silly in zerg battles.
And since meta is “bunker aoe brainless spam/CCs everywhere” will be worse day by day.
In a game like this one you can’t give OP tools as individual AND in large groups, there should be a trade off, overall if you consider that almost all these classes are bunkers.
Then you consider the bad combo design and you have the zerg issue bunker meta.

With (future) permastealth nerf and current CCs/aoe spam could help a faster animation. Most of times c&d fails not becouse of our bad timing but becouse this is a silly pinball game.
Initiative cost is good anyway, it doesn’t need buffs.
Next patch’s nerf to stealth will actually allow thief to get some buffs in other areas.

a warrior can reset the fight as well.
BUT while a stealthed thief is still affected by CCs and damage, most of times a warrior uses invulnerability/stability/kittenload of passive heal and run away.
Mesmers can reset too.
Sad thing is: it’s always thief’s fault.

Thieves aresenal is full of cheap shots and have zero respect for players choosing that playstyle and abusing those mechanics. Personally, I think that stealth cheapens the game and should have never been implemented the way it was.

Why spend time to fix something when they can simply nerf us?
I don’t expect everyone to appreciate or understand the nuances of all of that reasoning, but I do have faith that you will be passionate about it so try and remember to look at all sides of the issues. It is called balance after all.
Balance assumes also a trade -off. And if i agree with permastealth nerf i don’t undertand why nerf some sets, improve some useless traits and not skills/utilities and traits that can be really useful.
A better ini regen doesn’t mean more builds variety since builds and skills are always the same.
Try to fix them for real and then come back and talk to us about balance. But not in this way becouse seems more a joke.

So, what do we do? We make a stink.
You will NEVER make more of a stink than thieves made for themselves from the perspective of seven other class communities.
Perma-stealth needed to die in fire.
Off-meta builds get some love with faster general initiative gain and a few scattered buffs to traits that have nothing to do with stealth-heavy builds. Thieve experience more risk from certain types of builds while still remaining hands down the class most capable of disengaging from any fight at will.
The endless refrain to people driven to the brink of hysteria by thieves’ bloody IMMORTALTY via stealth has been “learn to play”.
Learn to play.
People will always complain because in the end they have no desire to learn. They want their kills handed to them and so long as they want that they are going to be bad players.
If I was anet, I would make sure:
1.) At least one of my devs mained every profession.
2.) Those developers theorycraft the kitten out of those profession and give me reports on the condition of every stat, skill, profession exclusive and trait.
3.) Once a month, we collaborate about metas between professions and sand them down so that they don’t remain a meta.
4.) That the classes enjoyment is based on the playstyle instead effectiveness. This means that everything will be effective in everything more or less, depending on the class.
5.) That once the classes are close to how I like it, that they are not touched again until additions are made and the devs tell the screaming little kids THEMSELVES “We are not going to be doing anything to this profession until we add something to it. If you are having trouble with a profession, the best way to learn how to fight one is to either train with your friends in sPvP or roll one. Again this profession is good where it is.”Because I would rather see something working right than just shut little kids up.
I wish developers would post some wvw and spvp videos of their Thief build ideas~ kinda like what League of Legends does with Champion spotlights. I’m very curious about how they play and how they want to and think they should play.

Stealth is not good so we will get nerfed permastealth builds and ok i “could” agree with it. IF we dont use stealth we go with evasion and adios sword build. And of course we will get nerfed vigor. Seems legit! We got buffed an USELESS trait for some party work in last patch… but our venoms are still crappy and i dont see any sign of fix in this list. So… What are we supposed to do? reroll a warrior? Who are designers of this game?
I wanna wield a 2H Warrior.
Stealth → enter combat → throw the warrior →come back in stealth → enjoy

I have been killed so much by this class, I’ve become immune to their 1-2-3 kills.
So what i’ve been doing lately is, whenever i encounter a theif or theieves, i just stand there and give them my body, afterall; it’s not worth defending what is already dead.

We have some thing that will be in the tests for the new map that will help WvW be more alt-friendly. We will talk more about it as we get closer to the test actually beginning.
