Why my thief’s summons don’t explode on enemies killing them? it’s an elite!!
Incompetence needs his scapegoat. Easier than adapt or learn to play. Just take a look at all the misinformation about necromancer people wrote in this forum this days.
TL;DR that is for necromancerubbaop/permaroflinvinciblethievs and other build/classes. Everyone pretends to play with a random build and be invincible in every part of the game and against everyone. We complain about stealth but we wanna keep playing a gc mesmer, we wanna complain about mesmers but we wanna keep eles etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc….
What people want isnt the balance but a faceroll class becouse losing hurts their ego.

I think this kind of threads are worse than useless. If we have to destroy a class only becouse they are good at roaming.. well… we have to destroy a lot of things then, not only thieves.
Balance is another kind of business and “thieves are broken” is a boring story.
They will rework the trait with the next patch. This is more or less a hotfix for the Pax toruney. If you want to see the dev post stating that, look in the pvp subforum.
Just like the soloQ is on the horizon? Never trust an aNet dev to hold to their word, more than likely their definition of rework, is to nerf terror another 17%, take burning out completely, remove torment from DS, increase DS degeneration by 6%, and lower doom duration to 1 second.
you forgot to say corrupt skills will flip only 1 boon when enemy’s hp are < 25%, DS cooldown 40 seconds (it’s anotha healthabar!!!1oneoneone) , remove any swiftness buff and delete enurance. Becouse necro’s mobility is OP, i have to move too much to catch and killem.
You do realise most of this thread was from before people discovered that our LF went from 60% to 100/120% right?
Shenanigans. This buff was right in the patch notes as soon as they were released. Everyone just QQed about it before seeing what it meant.
I do feel bad for the PVE Necros who were relying on a sketchy mechanic, but my build got substantially buffed with this patch. I can finally sustain in a fight instead of hoping I kill someone before my life force is gone.
We were well aware of the buff ahead of time. The buff only affects consistent damage applications without burst. With a lack of stability/invuln/block/vigor, or any other way to eat burst it was an effective nerf every time your DS went below 40 percent.
The issue is that players, who call everyone else QQers, are comparing full DS with Spectral armor on against a bunch of Hot join heros who don’t simply knock you down until Spectral armor is gone and then just free kill you. Sure if two guys train on you while you have a full DS with Spectral armor you will laugh at them, but when DS is down, you die against one semi decent player who knows you have limited access. Plus you just stupidly blew your only stun break to simply absorb damage.
So any smart player would simply let you pop it to absorb and then stun you and dance on your humorously badly played grave. Heck, if I was playing a necro against you, I would laugh as you popped Spectral armor than fear you away while it was on and corrupt boon it and kill you.
The change only mitigate consistent non-hammering damage. Any burst damage or control plus damage build will destroy you just the same. The players who don’t realize this haven’t played against anyone with a semblance of skill yet.
In one of the last 1vsX i had i wvw (becouse sometimes happens even if you don’t want :d ) i was with low hp, no vigor and some skills in cd. Just popped DS when a warrior shotted me with arcing arrow. Just for saying that “Any burst damage or control plus damage build will destroy you just the same.” is false, now they can destroy us better :p
ANet, please don’t listen to people who have never played Necro past FotM builds in tournaments. They have no idea about the class as a whole, they jumped on board after we became too strong, and now are acting like they have half an idea about the class, and it is idiotic. I know you know and talk with the high tier actual necromancers, ones who really know and play the class, listen to them.
I liked the post in the Necromancer forums where the players stated that it angers him that for months the Necro learned to adapt and adjust to his lack of equality, and learned positioning, timing, and every trick in the book to stay alive and function. Once we got buffed it wasn’t the damage we didn’t ask for that was the issue it was the ease of life buffs we received that people complained about.
Terror was never a problem until recently, neither was our DS absorbing burst until our damage became out of control. For months we have had to adjust to the ridiculous S/D thief, the overpowered Ele Bunker, and the ridiculous Mesmer while remaining strong in our belief that if we just had the ability to sustain in a fight we would be on par. When our damage was buffed, and we continued playing the same way suddenly people were crying OP and to take away the core abilities that we learned to play with.
@jmatb It’s obvious you have never played a Necromancer, but instead are the one really bad guardian that every necromancer loves to feast on. Your changes are so anti-necro they are embarrassing to anyone who ever played the necro. Every single profession out there has an easy counter to the Necromancer (except maybe the Mesmer).
Hoping any dev reads this i wanna quote this good guy. It’s funny in one hand how all the non-necros, bandwagoners, or why not, people who just gone in rage becouse of a lost, talks about “balance” and then scream about nerf this and nerf that op op op. In the other hand is really sad when devs talks about hotfix. And i think is a little bit disrespectful to necromancer community becouse, how Bas said, we had to adjust to ridiculous builds for months while we got nerfs since the beta. And you all (or atleast almost all) know that this is true becouse YOU, dear eles, dear mesmers, dear etc etc etc played those ridiculous builds and you enjoyed it.

- Bash the thieves! Becouse every learn to play issue needs his scapegoat! (pegi18+)
- New spvp map: try the new chat while holded to the ground. You can’t move. Or fall!
- Living story: added new spoiler button. You can press and discover how finish the story. Audiobook avaiable.
and the developers know that we still lack good health sustain to stay in battles long enough
No they don’t know becouse after 10 months, despite nice buffs, we still have the same old problems. Now we just have a nice burst.

What i have learned this days is that right now, since patch aka since we are more competitive, people is crying becouse don’t have anymore the easycake to fight against. We always were the first target in fight becouse of our squishy defence and nothing changed becouse, despite the good damage output, we still are the same squishy class. Just take a look at the forum. Before patch tons of threads about our lacks, now is all a nerf this nerf those, CC is op, this skill make too much damage, flash golem is annoying (wtf?) etc etc…
Maybe it’s time to enjoy more the game, be objective and do less the crybabes, becouse really seems to be rounded by kiddos into a nursery

We can still be out-attritioned easily by some classes, and we are still the easiest target to get focused…

That’s why i hope in a vampiric fix, a lot of stun breaks and a better Life Force manage (and tbh also in a better axe range. Be an attrition class with poor range.. meh).

I think both. We could use a stun break added onto a few (three at most, but really just one or two), and maybe slight reductions, nothing more than a few seconds. I think it would keep us balanced, as we are far more likely to eat CC currently, with very little ways to avoid a stun, so we should have more access to ways to survive them.
No man, we need a lot of reductions not just few seconds. Becouse the only way to make us an attrition class without the buff sustain is giving us shortest cooldown/cast time and tons of stunbreakers/weakness/fear/vampiric and a better DS magement (more way to obtain life force etc). That’s the price to pay, we are slow as hell with no buff sustain and any other mechanic (invuln/classic healing/stealth/classi damage avoidance etc) BUT hard to kill.
Ye you can use a Shroud-dancing like build, but to be honest doesn’t work as good as other class’ build with buff sustain. You can try it, but even if on paper is good don’t expect any OP way to fight… it could be boring and frustating
No man, you can level a char in wvw without the pve tinsel. Didn’t you know?
So 1 minute or 1 hour doesn’t change the facts: no trinkets in wvw merchants is a lack.
Then this mean i’m forced to do something i don’t like, the pve. I’m here for the pvp not for collecting money or discovery WPs.

if i play wvw only and i start a new char (or try a new build, etc) i must take my new toon, discover the pve map, wp to a pve map, do the event if required and the take the item. Otherwise, if the trinket is not in the merchant list, have to start to accumulare money (that i could use for food, sieges, upgrades etc) open the TP and buy the object. With my bank full of badges.
So yes, until they put trinkets in wvw vendor they force me. Need a picture?

Cursed shore is a pve map, so you gotta go in pve for those items (if you wanna buy them with karma)
Becouse then you are forced to play pve. Easy.
We included the laurel cost to prevent the economy from suddenly being blown out and to not invalidate the ways PvE players can get ascended items already. This system means that it is faster to get them in WvW, especially for players who already have badges, without being so much faster that everyone only gets them in this manner. As for the difficulty of acquiring laurels in WvW, we have taken steps to address that, including the fact that there will always be 3 daily achievements that are WvW specific. Speaking personally, I’ve been able to achieve my dailies in WvW even without that change, but this should make it even easier.

The point isn’t about the “difficult” but the method…
A WvW player-only is forced to do something useless everyday that has nothing to do with the pvp for a single item. Gathering, kills npcs (kill variety), crafting, kill npcs in pve zones (mobs in ascalon/maguuma – veterans – pve events), ambient killer etc..
Why i have to wait 20+ days doing pve stuff for a pvp item? Why ectos are required? What about them and wvw?
Wanna make the hard to take? indeed totally agree, no one says that we wanna the easy win but meh.. this is ridiculous. I bought the game for the pvp not becouse i like collecting ectos o mining.. becouse for that minecraft is better.

We’ll chalk it up to a lack of full comprehension then. Laurels come easy enough that I have ascended everything except the back piece right now. They’ll be even easier with the changes to dailies. The monthly is about to reset, if you haven’t finished it there’s 10 more waiting for you and 10 more about to become available.

There is the pve for this thingsThere are three (now) daily items that are WvW specific. In addition, things like daily kills, kill variety, gathering, etc. all suppliment WvW and should be a part of your play regardless. Gathering, for example, is quite useful for superior siege. Mystic Forge uses for the same… save your stuff and when that one pops up it’s a freebie. Salvaging is another freebie. Laurels are ridiculously easy to get in WvW, it’s just a matter of paying attention. Maybe you need to kill five yaks. Well, go kill five yaks. Fix a wall, Make bad guys go dead. Mine some mithril and chop some wood. Make superior ACs. Piece of cake.

A wvw item obtained with dailies means that you need to farm every day. Yes farm. Becouse even if you need 1 minute per daily oblige to do that thing mean force to farm every single day for a kitten gear. And again im not in wvw maps for kill npcs.

Tried CB a bit this night in wvw and it didn’t work.
The target was in front of me (so there was LoS) and the skill never flipped boons on enemies.
Don’t know if i’m only just unlucky or there is something wrong in this skill. Anyone else got this problem?
Maybe they didnt intend to remove shroudstomp but just make it harder.
This is the same excuse that i always read here in this forum. A lack of mechanics doesn’t mean “hey guys, go and make an hard class for real men with ubbahcomplicated combo!!!!”
it just means what it means: a lack of mechanics.
Don’t get me wrong, im not complaining about the shroudstomp, i can live without it (even if it it would be usefull) but it’s clear/obvious that other classes are more complete than us. Just think about the fear. Warrior’s? Thieves? Rangers? just one skill. Necromancer? need a whole build. Avoid damage? tons of buffs. Necromancers? Take all the damage bro!!! We have DS!! And if we want just a little bit of them (buffs) we have to make a whole build around them (so: traits, utilities, runes, sigils etc.) for something not comparable to other classes.
This means that we are underpowered? Of course not, we ca do a lot of things, but still means that we need TONS of balance fixes.
Just my 2 cents (and sorry for mistakes :p)
They are adding a skill 5 on Death Shroud for the necromancers in order to make the class more balance i presume, certainly not to imbalance it even further.
The fact that this condition will be shared with other classes makes me… pause a bit. If you have a glass 1 that has more water in it then glass 2, you add water in glass 2 to make it even, then why would you add water in glass 1 again…
This should be sticked dear Devs.

Not only for this new condition, but also for future balance fixes. And when you are near to make more OP some classes (maybe the same 2/3), read it again.
Another evidence that shows us that we are not an attrition class when we are supposed to be. A better DS management (more life force acquisition, more buff sustain in DS etc) and a better vampiric traitline (that should be one of our attrition mechanics, while now it’s just a silly thing ) could help.
Spite – Might on hit below 25% HP. Pretty useless, as 25% HP is 4-6khp and most of us would be desperately trying to avoid taking another hit at that point, or you’d be healing. Even if it wasn’t the case, that’s still only a single stack of might, which compares poorly with other classes.

It could be something pretty common across classes, but tbh this trait is still pretty usefull also for powerbuild. We are not a class with an high burst or buffs sustain that allow us to be aggressive with low health.
Maybe just if you have full LF and the enemy is near to death, but outside this meh.

Ofc, but here is the point. When i compare this tools i still feeling that something lacks.
I play a power necro build for roaming (i play wvw only), so no staff, and i agree with who says that with the right build, how to, etc you can do nice things, but that feelings is always here. And if you wanna see something like the “burst” the fastest way is spamming attacks in Lich Form (so 180 secs of recharge), while other classes can do this without big problems
I have seen necromancers tear apart thieves in 5-10 seconds. I have friends who play Thief who don’t have much of a problem with any other profession except the Necromancer. I have Necromancer friends who claim they can rip apart thieves. Last night, a Necromancer was ACTIVELY HUNTING one of my Guild Officers who was on their Thief.

And you are talking about a class that CANT put stealth and run away or deal tons of damage with skills without recharge time, WITHOUT escape mechanic, WITHOUT any buff sustain etc etc etc. Maybe, with no offence, it’s just time to learn to no press always 2222222, becouse in 8 month ppl started to understand how to duel with thieves, and you can’t pretend to be always at the top of the pyramid.

I don’t understand why necros can’t have something unique. That something unique was supposed to be fear, but ANet gave it out to other classes and made their version better.
Mesmers have distortion. Engineers have Elixir S. Guardians have knock down fields that prevent people from passing through them. Warriors have “charge” abilities. Thieves have no cool downs on any of their weapon abilities. Elementalists have summonable weapons. Rangers have a form of regeneration that cannot be removed (not considered a boon) and stacks with the regeneration boon.
Why can’t necros have a condition that no other class can have? There is really no unikittenfect (whats going on here? Why is unique placed next to the word effect invoking the filter?) or skill that belongs to the necromancer. Mechanically speaking, marks are just traps that are visible to everyone else. Not really unique.

Keep in mind that we are trying to find a condition that can be used by multiple classes
So now this is the question:
Why something for multiples classes when you can build a unique mechanic fo necros? expecially if this new one will be in our Death Shround, that is OUR speciality, and is not an utility skill.
Do you think to improve it for others like a simple skill or more like a combo?

Interviewers suggest and borderline beg for at least 4 buffs besides questioning the fact that dodge denies marks, still question the choice of no swap in DS.
Devs – Eh… we dunno, Necros might become too strong or something I guess…

It’s not the terrible necro who shows us something, but the silly OP thief’s mechanic (or mesmer, or ele d/d etc) compared to a good necro.
Also becouse the video isn’t only about thief vs necro.

Good or not, that video shows us that a necro is 2 steps under a lot of classes and a lot of classes are silly balanced and ridiculous.
We are good with company just becouse we have less pressure on us (even if we can do a good 1v1)
Sad story but that’s the point.
Axe is fine as a swap weapon. It is still a bad choice for a condition build, an “okay” choice for a hybrid build, and a terribad choice for a main weapon. I don’t think that is necessarily a problem. The #1 is still too weak, but it is designed around being a “team based” skill. IE You take a necro to stack up vuln on a PVE mob etc. Problem is so many others do it better with more damage attached to it and AOE, like GS warriors.
Its ranged, so there is that. It is safe application of vuln. In WvW I don’t really get the complaints, you should be swapping weapon sets every 10 seconds anyhow, and the 2/3 skills are very good. Just don’t use axe one, problem solved. It works fine as a swap weapon in WvW if you run power, just not as a weapon you sit on all the time.
LOL .. a weapon with a skill#1 meh, that need “team work” but it’s worst if it’s you main set, that is good just for swapping, that just dont use skill1.. lol… wtf o.O
axe is still our worst choice, specially if you play in wvsw where if you replace vuln someone else use a remove condition.

skill#2 and #3 are good (also before the patch) but #1 is still useless..
poor damage, slow, don’t refull life force and ok there is vulnerability…. in a game with high condition removal

This is still a useless skill with poor damage. It doesn’t need vulnerabilty duration, but more power or vulnerability stacks!!!
why does everyone hate on necros there not as bad as you make them out to be i love mine and i can kill anyone thiefs are a bit tricky though

Yeh, high pool of life, slowest autoattack, long recharge of skills don’t make a class hard to kill.
