I feel this way, too (regarding burnout). My incentives for leveling were to get prettier gear, but for a lot of people (even myself sometimes), you’re thinking “what’s the point”? It’s not like you’re missing out on some amazing experiences/content that only max level can provide in GW2.
GW2 has plenty amazing content at any level, that’s why rushing to max level has no meaning or logic (as it should be)
Map completion irks the hell out of me, too. The completionist inside of me wants to 100% every zone I level in, and even if you’re not a completionist, nobody wants to miss out on gold, exp. and rewards for zone completion. It is a checklist of locations that I need to visit; it does not feel like a vast zone to discover. It really removes any sense of exploration.
This is false, if you just follow the points on the map, you will miss out on a lot of content. For example, in the Asura starting area, there is a hidden cave under the falls in the SE corner that isn’t marked on the map but has a challenge inside.
Peopel have to forget about the years they spent grinding for gear and start having fun, again
sorry but the real world numbers suggest that your legion is actually a minority.
Ehr, what real world numbers? The millions that are leaving WoW because they can’t stand it any more? Look, this is a game for people who think WoW is boring. That’s why wowkiddies don’t seem to wrap their head around it
The amount of positivity and open, positive dialogue is overwhelming.
OP, seems like your mind is made up and you are only posting to vent some dissatisfaction. I am afraid forums aren’t made for that, it’s for suggestions or constructive criticism.
Dont listen to fan boys.
there is nothing to do at 80 simple as that. no tank healer kills the hell out of PVE.
PvP you can join as level 1 with full gear
WvW is a huge mess beyond repair. too much PVE in the zone, match system dont work, majorty of WvW are owned by a single server and rest just walk around.am one of the first to reach 80 (4 days after) and have done everything you can possibly do at 80, 2 weeks on i dont even log in no more.
only hope (since no monthley fee) is to wait for more content to be released, hopefully they fix this healer/tank issue, i spoke with developers in BW2 and they did say they need at least a tank as its a huge mess now (their own words) so if they fix this then finger cross would be worth coming back otherwise… waste
I love the internet.
I could do with forcing a basic IQ test before giving someone a connection….
Major Flaws:
1. Holy Trinity removal has created mindless zergsIt’s only mindless if you don’t know how to play. Learn.
2. Professions are too normalized causing them to not have enough distinction. This is mainly due to traits being carbon copies from one profession to the next.
Having played a thief to 80 and a ranger to 40 I can happily state that between these two potentially similar classes there is little to no bleed-through of mechanics.
3. You get all of the main attack abilities that your character will ever have by the time your level 5 causing you to become very bored of them real quick on your way to 80..
I find new and interesting ways to link my skills together even now. If you dislike using the same moves repeatedly… I hope you intend to disregard almost every other game with combat ever… Except maybe bayonetta.
I can see you’re a Gw2 fanboy so you will defend this game blindly. I’m not the only one who says the game play is a zerg fest. There are literally thousands of post mentioning the exact same thing. Traits are the same for all professions period. The professions are very normalized, which, brings great balance in pvp, but also, brings the feeling of deja vu for all professions…
Posting badly articulated PERSONAL opinions and then calling fanbois anyone who disagree.
Priceless.
Clearly the fact that I’ve been able to survive at least 2, maybe 3 hits before dying in other games has made me incredibly bias in Guild Wars 2. Yes.
I like your signature. Have you actually tried moving, evading, switching weapons, porting in and out? You know, playing your class properly. As I thief, if I don’t do those things, I get 2 shotted. That’s why when I am tired I play a guardian…..
Because clearly I’m referring to regular mobs.
I am talking about champions and WvWvW
Your point again? If you don’t move and you stay toe to toe with a Champ, you gonna get obliterated. What’s wrong with that? And I’m talking 1 shot mechanics, for example dungeon mobs/bosses. And some champions have the same. 1 shot kills shouldn’t exist, it’s poor design. 2 shots sure, because you have a chance of surviving and can heal up, giving you that chance to dodge the next hit etc. 1 shot is just hilariously lazy design.
All the mobs that I saw one-shotting sort of gave enough warning to try to evade (and all the times I got smashed I wasn’t paying enough attention). People really have to learn how to play this game (including me of course)
I don’t disagree with you, I can obviously run a boss multiple times and learn his skill queue’s but are you saying 1 shot mechanics are ok? Because I disagree, and think they are lazy horrible design. I simply don’t find it fun when I go down in 1 hit.
Eh eh well you could roll a guardian, at least you will go down in 2 hits, with luck 3

I’m playing dagger/dagger, dagger/pistol and venomancer aura spec thief. And I never get one shotted unless the boss intentionally has a kiting requirement and melee is impossible.
You clearly need more toughness and vitality in your gear.
This would work but you can be a glass cannon if you keep on porting out to recover, zooming in BAM! and out.

The only major flaw I see isn’t with the game actually but the mindset of a small subset of the player community. Let go of the old, let goooooooooo.
Same here, though I have only 3 characters (but I am already thinking about a melee mesmer). Nothing wrong in it, if you have fun. Considering the different mentality behind GW2 (no gear grind “end game”), might as well play as many classes as you like.
There is no rush to get to 80. Just have fun with what you like to play in the moment.
Also, lack of skills? There are loads of skills. This isn’t a game about finding a build and using it forever. I swap weapons constantly in combat and change utility skills between fights. Peeps, get out of the wowclone mindset!
People keep saying this game has beautiful graphics and great level of details… I feel completely the opposite.
The arts is very cartoonish. It looks like a Japanese Anime with bad Disney Clones. Every characters in the game is like prince and princess in Fairy Land. Everything looks so plain, fake and 2D especially when I am inside a city, everything looks as if I am back 12 years ago playing EQ1 all over again.
You are either joking or… dunno, what else you could be doing really. Troll value 0/10 for inane hyperbole and lack of taste.
We’re just stating our concerns (which are valid) haha… look, the fanboys were defending D3 from criticism too saying how much fun they were having and that those complaining should leave. Do you know what happened?
Keep praising anet on their “revolutionary” game and telling us we should leave and that it’s not the game for us, just don’t be surprised when the game is a barren wasteland in 2 months
Oh how I missed these kind of posts from other games
/sarcasm off
I was gonna say “passive/aggressive troll”, but reading the thread can’t see much passive really…
Are we going to get a rant post by anyone who thinks that by buying a game he is entitled to try and radically change the game’s core philosophy? And how is this thread not locked already?? I can’t see anything constructive. Actually, I am gonna report myself and see what happens
I am not into PVP at all and having a blast with the PVE. But from what you say, you seem more oriented to a gear threadmill based game. Not to mention that you might have slight burned out in the ‘rush’. This is a game akin to a good 10 years old Barolo or Bordeaux, not something you want to down in a big gulp
Uh, what? Are we playing the same game?
If it wasn’t that you need to purchase the game to post here, I’d say he doesn’t…
Unfortunately, there are people who are willing to part with a sum of money to get their favourite form of entertainment. Whatever that is.

Uh? If you have purchased the first guild wars you can login and post w/o the second. Found this out b4 my purchase of the second.
Ah thanks, that would explain some things. I didn’t know.
I was getting worried, almost 20 days since Early Start and hadn’t see any doom and gloom (and gloating) thread
Now, this is a relief…. everything is back to ‘normal’
Wow…someone is feeling insecure.
I guess you’re right, the best way to deal with a problem or potential problem is to ignore it.
No, never. But hey whatever rocks your boat. Today is trolling here, tomorrow it will be somewhere else. Who cares?
So now pointing out a problem is automatically trolling?
Rabid fanboyism is humorous to watch I must admit.
And with that you just proved once more if necessary what you are really expecting out of this thread. Thank you!
PS Pointing out (perceived) problems while offering a solution is constructive criticism, while making up stuff with no solutions and calling rabid fanboys who disagree with you, that’s called in another way. What’s up? Down at mmorpg.com you finally decided to put money together so you could bu ya copy and come flaming the forum? Good choice, sir

Games not for you, check out something else. Good luck finding some better fitting gaming entertainment.
People like you should get out of the forums. He’s giving his thoughts on the game, hoping to discuss the parts that he feels isn’t living up to his standards, and there you are – telling him to move along and forget about the game.
Do you even realize what forums are for, man?
I don’t think you realize what they’re for actually. There’s no point in discussing this, he’s made up his mind (which is fine). The game’s not for him, he moves on. Simple as that.
Exactly, there is no discussion possible here. He is just venting his dissatisfaction, some people confuse having an opinion and having the right to inflict it onto people who care nothing about it.
Afaik (having only played skyrim) the only part of leveling that looks like gw2 is mob scaling?
I’m not trolling, but as others have pointed out you need a different mindset to enjoy guild wars 2, and i am trying to find that mindset.
This isnt less grindy then other mmo’s btw. Tried leveling a profession?
Mob scaling is an essential point both in Skyrim and GW2 and the main reason I mentioned it is because in neither game you have a feeling of being overpowered with respect to the mobs.
The point of this game is having fun living in a virtual and dynamic world and honestly if you feel like you are grinding well there is something wrong.
This is the least grindy MMO I have ever played. Try forgetting about all the rubbish you played till now, especially WoW. Games are meant to evolve, not repeat the same design over and over and over, especially when this wasn’t good in the first place
Do we really need a thread where we tell you how to have fun or is this just a bad attempt at trolling? Oblivion and Skyrim have the same levelling mechanisms and they are great games. If you can’t have fun without the carrot on a stick there are a lot of grinders that can suit you better, have fun

Yeah it will probably happen whether we want it to or not. Luckily in this game players doing harder content are expected to do much more than just full-on dps.
Since when is “it happens in all MMORPGs” is an excuse for “it’ll happen in GW2”? This is not exactly a MMORPG to follow trends.
Especially since the lack of a monthly fee sort of curbs the ‘power’ of whiny wowkiddies…
What else? Flying mounts? Addons? I think you might be playing the wrong game….
Oh the irony of “competitive” players wanting to use addons. and if that wasn’t funny enough, moaning about the dungeons being too hard (yeah the “nerf the game plz” trend has already started…)
I fail to understand the MMO locust. Also I’m not playing WoW, I’ve done my time with that game. The only other MMO I’ve played is SW:TOR which I got to level 15 on and got bored. (I don’t count GW1 as an MMO, it’s a co-op RPG with a lobby, and PvP on the side…yet still a very good game that kept me entertained for a long time)
MMO locust is a term for a person who starts playing a new MMO and then spends an absurd amount of time per day to consume all the available content as quickly as possible. Then they come to the forums complaining that the developer should suddenly create them another bunch of content (which took them 5 years to make in the first place) so they could also consume through this aswell.
I’m sorry but there is no developer in the world who could create content as fast as you consume it. The only solutions are to
a) add tons of grind to the “endgame”, making it unbearable for anybody else except the MMO locusts.
b) create sandbox elements so players can create new content themselves.Neither one of these options seem very viable at the moment (unless you count WvWvW as sort of a sandbox), so your best bet is to move on to the next game and return when the first expansion is published.
Just a correction: locust usually skip content in their mad rush to “end game” AND then whine that they don’t have anything to do
MMO locusts and people who are stuck in a gear threadmill mindset have two choices:
1) evolve and start to use their brain
2) well there isn’t really an option number 2…
just because wow become easy like msot of people say is still better game than this and im sorry to say that but is true.
Yes because you think so it’s a fact for everyone, right?
Let the trolls troll and report them. Anet is good at policing the forums before these people start doing their worst.
I made one in leatherworking but I had to ‘discover’ it. Mixed leather square with Glittering Dust IIRC (but I might be wrong, could have been other special ingredient, sorry)
Zero crashes here, have you had a look at the game logs to see if it says anything about the crashes? Running a 7870 here
