Do you buy a car and then go back and complain when that car dealer has a sale demanding the money difference back?
I have to be honest and say people who throw in rares in to MF for a pre using anything other than greatswords are pretty well not stupid, just not smart either.
Greatswort has 2 precursors and the same amount of exotics, theoretically speaking the chance for a precursor is higher with the greatswords. At the same time both greatswords precursors sell almost for double of any other precursor. If you get lucky and get a Dawn or Dusk you can sell it and buy the precursor you actually want and have xxx Gold left over. It saddens me when I hear someone say they spend xx gold on rares to get their shortbow/dagger/staff/scepter etc. Sure it gets you the precursor you wanted but it’s not the most effecient way to get it, gold wise anyway.
Threw 30 gold worth of level 80 greatswords in the MF and got Dawn. Friend spent nearly 300 got nothing. So yeah, pretty much a “how lucky do you feel at the moment” kind of thing.
Shameless self bump, no one has any input on this? :C
Hi,
I wanted to propose a new daily/monthlies that involve WvW. We have PVP ones that give PVP specific items, WvW is currently usually part of the monthly but the reward has nothing to do with WvW.
As some people have pointed out before, for someone who doesn’t particularly enjoy WvW, getting the badges for a legendary is pretty annoying. Now I personally do enjoy WvW but the rate at which I get badges (being a guardian) is HORRIBLE. I could roll a wizard and AoE people but really that’s the same as doing something I don’t enjoy for the sake of progress. Which is what Anet said they did not want us to do.
Now I know the other option is the JP, I dislike JP’s but the Borderland one is quite simple. I avoid the EB one because there’s usually a high chance I’ll get killed before reaching to top.
If we go by borderlands JP x3 every day on a character that’s roughly 9 to 12 badges. Let’s say 10 badges a day. That’s 50 days where you have to complete all 3 BL JP’s to get 500 badges needed. And the chance that you can complete all 3 everyday isn’t that high unless you’re on a server where it just dominates WvW with no competetion.
So, why not add a new monthly/daily for WvW? It would actually ADD to the WvW enviremont rather than what we have now is a bunch of people joining the zerg for monthly kills + a bunch of people trying to do JP with no intention of participating in actual WvW combat.
The daily could include WvW kills, keeps taken, Dolyaks killed, siege weapons built etc. The monthly would include the same with higher numbers of course.
The rewards could be like the regular daily/monthly some karma a random blueprint and 15 badges for daily and like 30-40 for monthly. This sounds like “a lot” but you need a “lot” of the badges to complete your goal. It would add to WvW in a sense where people have to participate in several stages of WvW rather than JP/Killing people and it would give us more options to get these badges rather than Jumping puzzles which you have to repeat over and over and over just to get enough badges.
Any input is appreciated, don’t nitpick about the numbers of badges as rewards and such, just examples. Discuss the main idea please.
Thank you for reading
P.S
Before I get called out for just wanting this for the badges, I’m nearly done with mine. I actually am not a self centered person that wants others to “suffer” like I did and I hope this gets implemented for that one kid that decided to go for legendary and hates JP’s and WvW and feels forced to do something he doesn’t want for a long period of time.

It’s just the whole way of communication. You need to be a bit realistic with how the game’s story goes. I can see the races you can pick from now, each of them, being able to do the story and kill Zhaitan and such. Skritt or Quaggan? Not so much. They are simply a life form that are less intelligent and therefore highly, highly unlikely to ever fit in any story line. Unless one of the expansion introduces a rare candy that evolves Quaggan to Quagstoises and improves their intelligence :P
Jump puzzles are optional. I hate them too but I can choose not to do them even though when I find one I get stubborn and try anyway. Vistas, now that’s a load of bull. I hate doing vistas, I hate how much time I waste doing them and I hate that I need them for map completion. :C
Given the QQ from the previous event, I doubt it. Also to get the final reward from this event all you have to do is talk to an NPC during the last week (or day?) of the Wintersday period. Some staff member posted this somewhere, so, yeah. You only need to have 5 minutes of spare time to log in and talk to this NPC once its up to receive w/e the reward will be.
I think this idea should’ve been an option from the start. You should be able to join an overflow of any map whenever you want. This would even eliminate the need for guesting systems if you will.
Sometimes it’s just annoying having no OF to do Fractals or to be able to reach out to a larger player base for certain activities. Also Orr maps with the ability to join an overflow whenever you want would probably mean more uncontested temples and more DEs being done.
RNG is awesome when it helps you and sucks when it gives you crap. I got a Dawn from spending ~30 gold on MF so hoozah to RNG. A friend of mine spent 150 gold and got nada. Boo for RNG for him. I never liked the fact the only way to obtain anything in any game was by a random luck factor.
As for reward for some things, completely agree. Fighting a champion is tougher than fighting a dragon but I just think that’s because Dragons are just done with so many people where some champions just have a handful.
There seems to always be a a bit of random aggroing but in my case I can tell that the mobs bounce to someone else but after a few seconds they are focused on me.
Or a test I did with friends where the group initially aggros the mobs I would stand away from them and the mobs would ignore the group and run to me.
Hi, I am a GW2 player and I like long walks on the beach an—oh, wrong intro.
Anyway, I was wondering if there was any official statement about the hate/aggro mechanics on GW2.
I play a guardian and I have 2 full exotic sets and an ascended ring/back piece. I have a MF set and a full tough/vit/pow set with runes of the soldier in them and 2 sets of accessories.
Nooooow, what I’m wondering is if someone else noticed that the person with the highest armor rating is the one that seems to get aggro’d the most?
Reason I ask this is because when I often do dungeons, CoF in particular. If I put on my MF gear and there’s another warrior or guardian in the party. I hardly get hit by the bosses or mobs. Put on my WvW set and they’re on me like I’m made out of chocolate or something. Not sure how much armor I have with MF gear, maybe somewhere in the 2k’s but with WvW gear I get close to 3.2k
Another thing I have experimented with in path 2 of CoF is the final boss fight. If I put on my MF set the ghost-boss will normally not aggro me. If I put on my WvW set he will NOT aggro anyone but me. No matter how far away I run from it or let someone else aggro it first. It WILL go after me.
So is aggro mechanic really just as simple as who has the highest armor rating? Or is there a known formula? I would love to know either way. I’ve heard players say it’s Armor dependent but I really couldn’t find any confirmation other than their word on it.
Thank you in advance for any answers
After quite a bit of time they responded to my support ticket that they viewed my case and I will be sent the karka chest as well. I was really happy to read that. They really took the time to read the different situations individually and I am glad they understood that I could not partake in the event due no fault of my own. Which is a lot, A LOT better than a lot of games I’ve played.
Although the only minor drawback so far is that they said I would get the chest within 24 hours (Its been 24 or close to 24) and I haven’t gotten it yet. I am still glad knowing I will get it today/tomorrow regardless
Script ran again and I didn’t get a chest again, so far every staff member I spoke beat around the bush when I gave them my situation and never once got a clear answer.
I was “at” the event but I could NOT log in. At all. Each time I tried to log in I got prompted with the message that I was unable to connect and to try again. I tried for 2 hours straight and was unable to log in. I play on a U.S server in Europe so the hours for the event where really late for me, but I accept this since it’s my choice to play on a U.S server. However I just want an answer not from the player base but from a staff member who can tell me for sure.
With my circumstances; being “at” the event but never having been able to log in from the start of the event till the end of the event. Does this make me any less eligible for the chest than some that weren’t at the event at all or intended to and got the chest?
lol, now LA OF being spammed by people who got the chest the first time and now a second time. I have to admit if I don’t get a chest because I could never log on because of connection issues (not from my side, from the game’s side). I’m going to be pretty annoyed.
Yeah, so several guildies have said they’ve gotten the chest without even being online that day. Which if it’s true is complete BS if that means not everyone is going to get one.
I live in a EU time zone so I was up late trying to log on and never could even connect until the event was over. Is there any chance that we could get a staff member’s response on who exactly is going to be getting the chest?
Everyone who didn’t get to open it? If it’s just those who DC’d during the event then there’s something wrong, so far at least 8 people in guild and on my friend’s list have gotten the chest that were never logged on that day for it.
Hi, so I read the FB post and my friend(s) got their chest, I have a question about it.
When I went to log in to participate in the final event, I was never even able to log on due to connectivity issues so I never got to participate at all/partly. I also have not done stage 1/2 of the event and just was going to do the third stage of it.
My question is, would I still be getting the chest or since I never participated in any of the events do I get nothing at all?
Or is it so that everyone who did not get to open the chest, regardless of participation or not is going to receive the chest?
If I could get an answer that would be wonderful, thank you
I’m sure they are working on it. They’ve stated many many times across many subforums that they are working on a fix. What do you think they’re doing, not doing their jobs and laughing as players struggle with the problems?
It’s not like you ranting here is going to make them work faster or anything. Patience!
See, the thing is. They are familiar with making dungeons, they have if memory serves me right, 8. Therefore this is simple and pure incompetence. All 8 of those allow you to re-enter the instance if you go out. I understand them not wanting players to repair between fractals (Which is kitten as hell) but just for that they are willing to have such a broken mechanic linger around? Incompetence, that’s all it is.
Also, patience is a week, two weeks. But now a month and still ongoing?
It was their decision to implement an instance that they perfectly well knew was going to kill off most of the other PVE content. If not, then again for the third time “incompetence”. A team of game developers with a history in GW1 are not (or should not) be stupid enough to not know that. So knowing that, they should not allow such incredibly annoying bugs to exist.

Ok so I make peace with the fact this is now Fractals Online: The MMO instance experience.
But if you are going to implement an instance that’s going to kill off the majority of your game content-wise. At least make it DOABLE. In the sense that a simple freakin’ disconnection won’t make you lose all progress you made in that dungeon at that time.
You have been working on GW2 for what? 5 years or longer? Then after having people wait for so long the promises the company makes are broken within it’s first half year of it’s launch, and with the content that came that broke that promise and turned the game in to a grind fest in 1 single instance. The instance itself is broken. This is the 4th time (7 times if you count the amount of times I had to re-do the same fractal level ‘cause a friend of mine DC’d and I’d like to keep his and my fractal progression at the same level) that we spent anywhere between 40 minutes to 2 hours (yes some parties were so horrible it took 2 hours) to get to the third stage of the fractal ONLY TO HAVE SOMEONE DISCONNECT AND NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN.
Like, really? And this dungeon has been out for a month now and it’s still not fixed? So much for all the crap about customer service and the manifesto and etc, etc.
At this point it’s like the company doesn’t even have the courtesy to tell us it’s just warm rain anymore.
If you’re going to shove a single instance down our throats because it killed off almost all other PVE activities. At least make sure it works.
/endrant.
Mailbox wasn’t full, checked mail. Deleted any NPC mail just to make sure. Relogged, ported out of overflow to see if that was the problem.
So…am I going to still be getting this thing or did I just lose the 4g and have to buy a new one?
I’ve played a lot of MMOS but I have to say that GW2 has the most spoiled/preppy/posh community I have ever seen. Never have I seen people complain about things like dye combinations, skill names “ruining their game play” or write multiple paragraphs long responses about mounts and how they would ruin the game for their “roleplaying”. It’s quite amusing.
Also; Oxblood on everything, aw yeah.
