the weapons go up in price after the event ends thats why people complain because no one wants to pay 800 gold for a skin they could easily spend that much trying to get out of a chest

There is 1 weapon skin that is 800 gold and the set it came from (which are all the previous Halloween skins) did not use the same system we have now with the tickets.
As of now the most expensive weapon skin that uses this method is 390 gold. It needs 7 tickets and has some of the best fiery particle effect in game for weapons. The only reason it’s that expensive is because combine the 7 ticket price plus all the 13 years old kids want it.

So even taking the most expensive and most “traditionally” visually pleasing weapon in an MMO (Ever since MMO’s were invented anything with fire coming out of it was overhyped). a 400 gold price tag which rivals Volcanus is fair in my opinion. And this is, once again, going by the most expensive weapon available that is using the current ticket system. Looking at all the other skins that use the same system the price drops significantly to an average of less 200 gold for a skin. Again this is all considerably cheaper than all the other MF recipe exotic weapons.

So your point is completely invalid for using a skin as an example which does not use the same system these skins do and is also the ONLY skin out of all other available skins to reach that amount of gold.

What I noticed from the overflow i was on was the only times we actually damaged him was right after the bone wall went down. We got roughly 20% of his HP down in 2-3 times.

Now I may get shot for this BUUUUUUUUUUUUUT. Why not just let him stack 20 scales, kill his bone wall and DPS the everliving crap out of him and repeat? I mean we only did it like 2-3 times and got 20% and it wasn’t even on purpose we just failed to actually keep the scales off of him.

Anyway, this is probably an easy way out and if it does work would/should be fixed because then it’s a matter of waiting for bone shield to be up > destroy > DPS > repeat :P

Question about transmuting/splitting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

nawrasz.6219

Tomorrow we’re getting these new stones in the game. I and a few friends have a question that we can’t find answers to and I personally don’t want to risk losing some high value items to come to an answer. So I hope a developer can answer this question.

The way I understand it works the splitter will split the skin-item and stat-item used back to their original forms i.e a Sunrise that has been transmuted on a Pearl’s greatsword will be split back in to a Sunrise and a Pearl’s greatsword AND it automatically soulbinds.

A question that I couldn’t find an answer to is this: After the update will legendaries that have been soulbound once and then have been transmuted to a white piece item to turn them account bound, and then transmuted again onto an exotic item and soulbound upon use on another character be split and soulbound to the character that the item was soulbound to LAST?

Or will it be that the Sunrise that you get from splitting the item will go back to being soulbound to it’s first character that it was soulbound to?

For example, what I want to get out of this question is. Will it be possible for me to take a Soulbound Legendary, transmute it on to a white weapon to make it account bound, bank it to another character, and then use the splitter on it on that character to soulbind it to that character?
Or will it come out soulbound to it’s original character that it was on to begin with?

I hope I can get an answer to this question, it would be very much appreciated
And if this has already been answered somewhere, could someone post a link to the answer? I couldn’t find one anywhere myself.

My thoughts on Runes of Perplexity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

nawrasz.6219

In my opinion this is just a large text that you’re trying to prove with that the runes are OK as of now, which they are not.

The Engi video you’re talking about and say he’s using his brain just shows him doing basic stuff. It’s ridiculously easy to interrupt players you don’t need a lot of skill to do so.
And the frightening part is, he was an Engi, now a couple of friends of mine and I (3 thieves) all went D/P and bought these runes and went in to WvW and and roamed and it was beyond ridiculous how easy it was to kill ANYONE. These runes are beyond game-breaking in terms of what other runes are available. 20+ stacks of a condition in seconds, cleanse it? No problem, you’ll have another 20 stacks on you in seconds again.

Because the way you are thinking is biased. If you are an older player you know by now people will JUMP on the bandwagon the moment they get to. You think a bunch of warriors are going to be running now with these runes? No, there’s going to be thieves and Engis with kitten well near 100% up-time on most interrupt skills just going around all over the place.

If it was, as you said, something that requires some sort of tact with limited interrupting options then yes, the runes are fine. But as it stands now before these get fixed we’re going to see a huge influx of a specific few classes that figure out how to be able to interrupt with little down time on their interrupts just milking these runes for all their worth.

The new players receive everything I got plus more for the same price. How does that work out? Of course I get the year ahead of them, I bought it before they did. Why should I NOT get a year of playtime and enjoyment because I bought it first? What do I gain that they don’t?

You say you’re not whining but dear lord this has whine all over it.
The answer is pretty simple, it’s how they draw in new buyers. What lured you in a year ago will most likely not draw in newer players now because what you got is not worth the actual cash to in game gold ratio. Just as an example.

It’s not just MMO’s it’s everything that works exactly like this. You buy a car today for 10k USD, in a year the EXACT same car will be 7K USD with a ton more added to it.

What you got that the people buying the deluxe/special/whatever it’s called version now is you got the “drive” your new and exciting “car” way before they did. You had the exact same “advantages” they have over you now because at that time that was the best that was available. You also get the xxx amount of hours you put in to the game and gear and everything else you already have that they do not.

HOWEVER! I will make you a deal right now. Delete all of your characters, all of your items, destroy everything you have in your bank, disband any guild you have and leave all guilds you have and spend all your other currency (Karma, laurels, dungeon tokens) and then destroy what you have gotten from those and I will personally gift you all the items these new players have gotten that you did not get with your version of the game, that way you will be in the exact same position as someone who has just bought the deluxe version of this game. I am willing to do this because well golly, I’m just a stand up fella’

I really don’t understand the obsession with this staff. It’s so incredibly ugly. I’m sure it’s just the instinct of OH NO ONE HAS IT MUST HAVE. Kind of thing.

Unless people really dig gargoyles that much, otherwise there’s nothing special about it in my opinion. Now if the Gargoyle was actually moving and looked around and looked “alive” on top of it, that would be a different story.

I would pay 20 silver for it and then sell it on the TP for 800 gold.

Transmuting is an exploit or not?

You both missed the point. I know it has the stats from the white item. But before when you transmuted let’s say a legendary to an exotic and used the legendary skin and exotic stats. The item would become exotic rarity in stats and color. But now it retains it’s Legendary rarity which would mean it would be eligible for the auto-upgrade mechanic that legendaries supposedly have.

From the patch notes: Transmuting weapons now preserves the higher rarity of the two items.
I’m guessing, it’s their way to let players transmute legendaries to get the desired stats without those players feeling screwed over by the future stat upgrades.

Yush, I am aware of that one. However one can now turn a legendary that’s soulbound in to an account bound one by transmuting it to a white first then bank it to the char you want and transmuting it to an exotic all the while retaining it’s legendary rarity.
I just want to make sure that that’s intended and not some unknown exploit before I go and get myself banned for doing it to my sunrise :c

I posted this on reddit too, so I’ll post it here too more specifically to get an answer from the staff is possible.

Reddit post:
“Hi, I was curious about this so I tested it out; http://imgur.com/a/8pjmo

So I transmuted a soulbound level 7x rare helm to a white one. It retained it’s color but it doesn’t say transmuted/rare/normal etc or anything when I hover my mouse on the item. But the item retained it’s color while previously it would turn in to the color of the item’s stats that you chose. For example I chose the stats of the white item, it would’ve turned white before the patch.

I tried salvaging it, but for some reason it can’t be salvaged? Yeah, no idea why

So…does this mean we can transmute legendaries while retaining their “legendary” stat AND making them acc bound at the same time? While transmuting it clearly says that if you transmute the item will be soulbound, so I guess that this might not be working as intended.

P.S Don’t mind the little pink asura with random gear and stats |:"

My question is if this is a “bug” or “exploit” or whatever. Transmuting should make it soulbound according to the transmution window BUT it does not.

Honestly this would be freakin’ TERRIFIC if it’s working as intended. For the cost of having to buy a new weapon with the highest available stats and using transmution stones this means I can put my Sunrise on another char and not lose it’s legendary tier. So I don’t have to worry about grinding a new weapon whenever a new tier is released.

So, Anet. How about it, exploit? Are we going to see people perma-banned for this anytime soon? Let us know pretty please with a cherry on top.

Envy plays a big role in this. Not saying you are or are not jealous. But subconsciously you get “tired” of seeing them because you notice them more often knowing that for you (or the average joe, not you in particular) they are hard/impossible to get.

Do you get tired of all the molten weapons? CoF sets? AC weapons? Destroyer weapons? Corrupted weapons?
Doubt you notice them most of the time or if you do doubt you think anything of it because if you wanted one you could get it, therefore your envy isn’t telling you to resent it.

That’s just my theory on it, in the end I stand by my point that Foostivoo > any legendary. He solos dungeons for me.

You can get back pieces that you can make with bought materials through the MF. But you need 1 vial of condensed mist which is a random drop from FotM 1-9. They’re not incredibly rare but as with everything RNG, you may get one from the first mob you kill from your first ever fractal or you can get none from 1 up to 9.

Gold income is also something you work for. Someone that buys something off of TP has earned that gold through some form of “labor”.
I understand your opinion, Nibiru, but while some people enjoy working for something through it’s direct approach (like doing FotM to get the rings) others who may not like FotM could work for it by doing other dungeons/wvw/farming/crafting etc.

You are mistaken, a pure DPS guardian will come close in terms of damage with another pure DPS set-up on most classes besides Thieves/Warriors.
It does let you decide how to play, but it doesn’t mean that not every class excels in certain aspects of the game play.
You just probably compare the guardian with the Thief and Guardian, the other two mainly close-combat classes and decide they DPS better therefore there’s a trinity.
But overall if you compare all classes with each other you’ll find that as it’s true some of them really do excel in fulfilling a role that it doesn’t mean that they’re the only class capable of still being viable as that role.

in WvW

Posted by: nawrasz.6219

nawrasz.6219

There’s balance. Balance in GW2 is a lot like RPS. Except it’s not.

Thieves and Mesmers are Scissors, Guardians are Rock and Eles and warriors are Paper. Engineers and Rangers are…Mushrooms.

Scissor beats paper and Paper beats the other paper. Paper and Rock sometimes come close to beating scissors but then scissors disappears and comes back to try again later.
Rock beats nothing and nothing beats rock and everything beats Mushrooms.
That together is perfect class balance.

Honestly if you don’t like how boring your warrior is in PVE then guardian is going to disappoint you just as much. The builds are a bit different but at the end of the day they’re still the same kind of play style. One could even argue that warriors have a more diverse play style ’cause they have an actual proper (2 even) ranged weapon(s) option.

As for WvW/PvP on a guardian, yeah..
PvP is mainly just cookie cutter bunker build and hold a spot. WvW gives you more options. I enjoy WvW on my guardian because I can still have decent amount of damage and be incredibly tough to kill. But if you’re expecting/wanting to kill a lot then you might want to stick with warrior.

I would love to see this function on GW2. I like to play with sound on but whenever I’m in a party with someone that either has a bell or a chainsaw weapon I will mute GW2.
I don’t care if you can play Beethoven’s entire 5th symphony on the bell. I don’t like the sound of the bell and do not want to hear it. But alas, I don’t have that option so GW2 has been muted on my pc more often than not ever since the chainsaw weapons hit the game.

It’s got to do with the servers. I assume that they’ve got some servers in the same location dedicated to the NA servers and one for the EU.
When you switch home worlds completely it’s a one time transfer, they transfer all the data from one database to the other when you go from NA to EU. But when you’re guesting/doing dungeons. It’s different to link 2 complete different databases together. This was to be expected, if we can’t play in dungeons with people from EU while being on NA or vice versa, then it wasn’t really that much of a shock that guesting wouldn’t work that way either.

Do you mean you don’t WANT 2 of the same kind? ‘cause you can wear 2 of the same kind you just can’t double click equip both since double click equip always takes the same ring off/puts it on. So drag the second one to the slot you want to wear it in o-o

the same unique item can’t be equipped twice.. in theorie.. as all ascended rings are unique, I, and apparently the poster as well, assumed it’s not possible to say equip two khilbrons philactery or whatever.. I thought that’s the whole reason they created two separate rings each of all stat combinations (each with an off and def slot). haven’t tried it yet because I keep dropping different rings ;-)

so you’re saying unique doesn’t count with rings and we can equip as many as we want?

I never knew/heard about not being able to equip 2 unique items (I’m not even sure what would be considered unique). But with other exotic rings I could and have equipped the exact same 2 rings. Now I want to try and see if I can do that with ascended rings but all I have is a variation of a bunch

Where have you found this information about there being Ascended weapons?

They’ve already made statements that:

A: Legendary weapons will be given the stats of Ascended gear (even tho we’re lead to believe that ascended isn’t that much more powerful then exotic, i know right)

B: Legendary weapons requirements will be adjusted to a lower setting so that they are a but easier to obtain then they are now.

No specifics on time were given on these tho.

WHYYY do people keep saying that Anet said they’re going to make Legendaries easier to get? They said they’re going to add a scavenger hunt system to get a precusor. For all you know this scavenger hunt will take anyone from 2 weeks to 3 months to complete.
I just don’t want people to constantly keep saying they’re going to make it “easier” to obtain and then rage when the scavenger hunt is going to be hard/time consuming.

If you came here with the mentality of other games’ mages, you’re going to be disappointed. No big numbers/squishy mages on here. Elementalist is probably the most effective as a melee-mage with 2 daggers. Mesmer mostly uses conditions/clones so no huge magic damage numbers there either.

glass canon elementalist with a staff could be viable in WvW when you’re AoEing off of secure places, but in PVE everything moves out of your AoE areas more than half of the time making it kind of useless.

Lol I have not finished my monthly since October. Always stuck at 92% and 0/7 fractals.

this
as several posts explained, it’s very easy to do this monthly.
heck those 3 in LA plus entering winter wonderland and the one on EB – thats about 5min and 5 done, bit more if you jump them…
best monthly idea so far but the execution lacks, they obviously didn’t have the balls to count finished ones only. still easy to do, 4 of the 5 take 10min combined to finish, EB might feature a helping mesmer to short cut).

but THX ALOT for insisting I’d run that powercreep/geargrind BS fractals.
why bother setting all dungeons as sub-monthly.
seems like the quoted post says, 92% again xD

this & this

I may be weird but I do not enjoy fractals much. Tried a few and decided it is not thing for me. Now, even if I wanted to do them I am level 2 or 3 so basically no chance to get a group. This is not a whine, if I wanted I could be level 12 or so by now but I chose not to do the fractals.

Second month in a row I won’t do monthly just because ANet thinks fractals are awesome.

http://gw2lfg.com/ > “Frac” in searc, set level from 1 to 3.
I see 19 different submissions for fractals 1 to 3 all within minutes of each other.
Fractals are the easiest part of the monthly, I don’t see why people complain. You don’t have to do fractals from 1 to 10, you don’t even need to focus on ascended stuff. Just do FotM 1 and 2 and you’re done with it and probably come out walking with some rares from it as well.

Made a new alt, haven't done quests..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nawrasz.6219

nawrasz.6219

Hey,

So. I’ve made a new guardian besides my Charr guardian because the weapon I’m getting looks better imo on another race. That aside, I find myself not doing a single renown heart after I hit level 30-35.
Why? Quests don’t give me anything. Exp from them is meh, coin from them is meh, they give no karma or if they do it’s also meh.

But the main reason I don’t do them isn’t because I have other leveling options or because I already have 100% map on one char. It’s because they don’t UNLOCK new content, or anything else for that matter. They’re just “there” and it’s a complete viable option to ignore ALL of them.

None of the quests give you a reward that is specific/rare to that quest that makes you want to do it, none unlock a certain area, dungeon or activity. I’m missing this here on GW2.
Most other games I’ve played had key quests that you NEEDED to progress, I’m not talking about your personal story. I do that for the sake of the story. But I mean, some things could have such an epic story line using the already available quests in the game to unlock new content.

Creating a skin, gaining access to certain areas/events/karma merchants that are worth it or just merchants that are worth it in general.
You could link several NPC’s quests together in a story line to unlock a I don’t know, let’s say a cave where you have to fight a few things or go through a small JP that allows you access to a merchant that sells x/y/z. Be creative, there’s so many possibilities.
A hidden JP that has a 100% reward for a black lion key that you have to have done a certain quest line for to get to and be able to do it on a daily basis. Hell, even to unlock traits you just have to buy a book from an NPC. There’s no story, no sense of accomplishment that you “grew” as a warrior (not the class, just overall). You just click a book and magically improve and are able to learn new skills. While you could’ve had so many fun/different options. Challenges to unlock each trait line for example, to unlock the ability to put more points in to trait lines. All those possibilities are not utilized.

The possibilities are endless and they add more than just the copper/silver reward and some exp you get from that quest. The only things I do on my new alt are vistas, poi’s and waypoints and the personal story. I don’t even bother with story in dungeons because I can open on my Charr guardian.
So basically, there is no “reason” for me to re-discover these quests. And I think there should be, it would be so much more fun

I’d like it if we could have some discussion about this and maybe some input. I know that most of you here have played other games so I’m sure you understand what I’m talking about.

We have give or take between 20 to 60 people on at any given time, usually around 40-50 people on. We run every dungeon available and there’s guild events and the guild makes up the majority of the players that participate in every DE on the server (Dragons, Belthazar, Grenth etc). We also have dedicated WvW times and aside from those times there’s almost always a few of us in WvW who form a party and just go out there and do stuff.

If you’re interested our guild leader’s ign is Coakley Oakley (Coakleythegoat.6509) if you’re interested.

If you decide to give us a try, PM Coakley and tell him you heard about LAG from Jhalil.
I should however let you know that we have a policy of keeping GC clean as we have older people playing with their children in the guild. We have a TS3 server and you can be as vulgar as you want on there in the proper rooms for it :P

I’d make a topic in the suggestion forums but all they do there is argue in topics about stuff which makes the suggestions that are easy and worth a kitten fall back to the nth page.

It’s pretty easy to make 3-5 gold an hour. Say 4 gold an hour you’d need 100 hours in total of farming lodestones, probably more like around 80 or so when you include lucky drops/rares while doing dungeons. I’m not going to say this is realistic or over the top. All in all I still think it’s too “easy” to aquire a legendary on this game, considering what it’s supposed to be. The only thing I would say that’s ridiculous is the amount of repetitiveness involved. I understand having to take a long time to achieve a certain goal, but things like having to repeat the jumping puzzles over and over to get the badges or farm FotM for obsidians or Karma/doing Balthezar to get the clovers etc is pretty painful.

I’m not sure which games you’ve played before but there are games out there who have items/weapons/armors that take MONTHS of doing the same thing every single day over and over to achieve them. Legendary on here isn’t that bad (still bad though) compared to those games.

I do make 3g per hour. That is not the issue. It is that i have to do this for around 1 month. The repetitiveness. ..god

Yeah, I agree with you there. I know how it feels I got all my lodestones AND my clovers and all T6 mats and all that hubaluba. The only thing left now are my WvW badges and map completion and WvW badges to me are as bad if not worse than the clovers/lodestones.

No, the only way to take it down is by throwing crystals at it. If it was dying then they were throwing crystals at it but you weren’t noticing it perhaps?
I mean, I’ve never ever seen it’s HP go down by just killing tentacles.

Indeed. Right now the only purpose a server has is WvW. Everything else is done/found in overflow or gw2lfg.com. And perhaps guild buffs but even then I’m sure if guilds had no buffs people wouldn’t bother with those either. They don’t exactly contribute to the gameplay. We need more things to get the community to..be a community rather than a bunch of people playing a singleplayer MMO (kind of makes no sense a singleplayer MMO but just go with it).

Are they per account or per char? For example do I get to open an extra chest if I do 10 on one char and 12 on another, or does the one time you open it count for your entire account?

Nope, not a rant about precusors or TP :P

I was reading the wiki and saw this on the bottom; "Sunrise does not count as a Legendary for the Account Medals section of the character select screen despite being “Legendary”. "

Is this intented? If so, why? They cost the same (even more than all other legendaries if you go by precusors + lodestone cost). It’s nothing significant but I was just wondering why you have to make TWO legendary greatswords to combine in to 1 that is also legendary to unlock this icon?

If this was a bug and is fixed nvm me then, if not and this was intented. Is there any response from a staff membe why they made it like this?

Wrong, people that have 1000 gold bought with $ are better than the normal player, because they can afford pretty much anything a normal player needs but can’t.

Every single topic whining about GW2 being P2W has this statement in one form or another. But not a single one can tell me what it is that people who buy gold with RL money can get that I can’t get/afford.
