I have no idea if you had a Radeon HD 6970, how yours would melt due to the culling being removed. I have a GTX 480 with stock cooling, and OCed for stock specs. Your card is only 2 steps below mine in benchmarks. I run on all high/ultra settings with FPS from 50-80 at all times and my card barely reaches over 70 degrees, and its a card KNOWN to run hot. Sounds more like something was wrong with your card in general, or your cooling failed to me.

you can actually attack Jormag with rainbow unicorns while sporting a quaggan backpack.
if anet wanted to go for a japanese rpg type of feel, akin to final fantasy, with girly stuff and childish things, then i feel they kind of lacked imagination with that bow.
the quaggan backpack is “ok” if japanese rpg is the look.
but a bow like that is unexcusable.

I completely understand that rainbow unicorns being tacky is my opinion. I even said so in one of my first posts on this thread. I believe that people have the right to state their opinion without other people accusing them of whining, QQing, throwing tantrums, etc. just because they disagree with their opinion.

I also completely understand that there are people in this game who LOVE rainbow unicorns. And of course they are entitled to state that opinion also.

My first comment was directed to the people that WERE whining and QQing. People saying “I want to quit the game cause of this”, “I won’t play with someone who has this”, “it ruins my immersion and I hate this game now”, “i will kick a person with it”. If you don’t like it, by all means, don’t like it. But to make extreme comments such as those, is just pure idiom in my book and is QQing and whining. What would you call it?

You’re trying to take only the words what are the best for your argumentation. Never mind, I will answer that question. Every legendary should have story about them and it should be attached to any part of the history or present time. The term legendary is explaining everything. However it’s not present here but it does not taking the responsibility from them. It should not be only the weapon TIER. I don’t know what future will show but Anet stated that Legendary is the “king”. I would expect to have some background for them. Let’s imagine Sauron’s mace breaking the Narsil. If you know LOTR, you immediately feel that it has a history. Legendary should have great background and of course power (either positive or negative).

I would be more calm if they would provide solid background for such weapon but now it’s only legendary tier providing ridiculous effects in world where good fights against evil narrated as solid and ADULT conflict. I’m repeating myself now…and if you read my posts carefully you hopefully get whole picture about why I think it does not fit to the game.

I give you a 100% respect on this response. I can respect your wishes on LORE. If you found my initial response offensive, I do apologize for that. However, I was indicating only that GW2 has lacked any actual LORE when it comes to the legendaries themselves. For me, LORE is not as important, but I, myself, would not have cared either way. I’m pretty sure every worn item has “standard” dyes for when they are first put on and stuff. I don’t think bad dyes call as much attention as the discussed effect, though.

Big male Norn guardian doing Jormag, in bright pink armor is ruining my immersion. No matter where I go, while doing Jormag, he is so large that all I see on my screen is a bright pink man running around. They shouldn’t be allow to dye heavy armor pink, because it doesn’t go with GW2.

What would be your argument that they should, or shouldn’t?

How many times have i seen a pink Norn? Never. How many times will i have to see rainbow unicorns? Whenever the bow is used (which is absurdly common).
The difference is the fact people have an option to change the dye (a LOT of them) but you don’t have an option to get a different legendary short bow.

Actually, I have seen 6+ in overflow that have been fully pink, yellow, green or even a mix-matched of colors , and probably just as many Dreamweavers in all the time I have played, but you may have seen more. I see more twilights, and sunrises than any other legendary.

Devil’s Advocate again: But who are you to say what is more distracting for me? This is a highly distracting thing for me, maybe not for you, but it is for me and ruins immersion for me. How come I can not have an option to turn their dyes into less offensive colors to my eyes?

Would it be OK if we put it in a “stronger visual effect” category and give people a display option to “turn off stronger visual effects”? That way people who like it will have it displayed, and people who don’t like it don’t have to see it?

Come on… now don’t come with trying to force people to see it? :P It’ll end up becoming a real life mental torture weapon.

Like I stated before, I see no problems with an option to do so, or as others suggested, a more “immersion” alternative to those who want it.

Anet is trying to explain the world, the relationship and any other connections to provide the best feeling from the game. I’m hardcore RPG player and story and overall feeling from the world and LORE is quite important for me. GW2 is not definitely the best but if I would be creative director in Anet, I would never ever release something which breaks immersion. Of course, I understand that they need to make money and such items like quaggan backpacks are simply demanded by specific group of people.

Please tell show me any LORE that any of the legendaries actually have, outside of the shield. Since it is LORE you require.

You basically claim that The Dreamer’s affects was a means for Anet to have a “cash shop”, then when proven invalid, you change your argument. If you really want to call something a “cash shop”, then you should be complaining about The Quip, since one of the requirements you need is actually ONLY purchasable via the gem store.

You basically validated my own argument. Anyone selling The Dreamer, grinding for it, and then decided to sale it. Either way, SOMEONE did grind.

Your statement was not accurate. And I am having a difficult time taking you seriously, when you can not even spell example correctly.

You can not buy this item using the gem store primarily. With the current conversion rate, you will only receive 6 gold per 800 gem. Making it a whole 30 gold, for 4000 gems. At the current price of 2000 gold, you are looking to spend over $3000 dollars on gems. Yea, totally doable by everyone in this game right?

Your point? This is what you are failing to understand, it is that person’s choice to put the work into said legendary. You are not forced to acquire only THAT legendary. Are you telling me that thiefs and rangers have no other alternative to a legendary that is more “kitten”? I think not.

If you are a graphic designer, then you should KNOW that clients will many times want something that goes against your own personal aesthetics, but you still do what is required because it is not about what you want.

Well since I am a graphic designer and coder, I have no issues with putting “troll” weapons into games. There is a game (I will not name the game) that has a rainbow level where you kill teddy bears, unicorns, and flowers. Another game has a unicorn gun, that has the unicorn screech when you shoot rainbows that come out of it’s butt, and goes googley eyed when it is out of ammo.

There are a lot of games, with “troll” weapons such as this. It is meant to be humorous. If you can’t find the humor in it, then you are sorely lacking a funny bone.

Let me give you an example:

However, I will say that I agree with magicweaver, that there should be an option to turn off the legendary affects for players like you. But I still don’t understand why people like the person whom posted below you, will actually not party or play with people who have made the decision to acquire the bow. That’s unfathomable to me.

Legendaries take a lot of work to make, and I give respect to anyone who chooses to do so. People not playing with people who choose to make The Dreamer, is basically like calling them bad players because their aesthetics differ from yours. I get it, people like immersion in games, but man, some of the reactions players have is so excessive.

Fun to play…hahaha. First, you need to consider that you’re killing people, animals and so on and second you need to consider that you’re KILLING living beings in virtual world. How does it feel? So now you’re killing living beings with unicorns…it’s not funny, it is embarrassing!

It is the same like with quaggan backpack. I saw character with CoF full heavy set and 2h sword and he was carrying quaggan backpack. It only raises questions if the player is child or without taste. Such updates are destroying overall feeling from environment. Sorry but seeing such character fighting against dragon or other epic fight just downgrading whole game for me.

Such updates should be only for town clothing, costume brawl etc and never ever as part of the gear used for combat and progressing through game world.

It’s comments like these that make me facepalm.

I have NO idea how someone else’s decision to use whatever he/she likes on their OWN character, is so detrimental to you, and your experience gaming. This is just so asinine to me. You are basically wanting to push your aesthetic preference on others, because it is something, you, as a player do not appreciate. You have a choice to wear it or not. Listen, I am not saying they shouldn’t be purchased only via laurels. I am questioning why they didn’t make it available via purchase of FoTM tokens as well.

The fact that they made the rings purchasable with laurels as well as relics is a smart move in my eyes. I am just questioning why they didn’t make the option available to those who have accomplished a lot in FoTM as well.

This example goes to the backpacks as well. I think all FoTM items should be purchasable via laurels, and vice versa.

This legendary has always been a “troll” weapon in my eyes. It has always had a unicorn on the bow itself, and it shot out rainbows before. I personally think is is by far the best troll weapon Anet has created to date. Albeit, I will concede that the logo is a bit far fetched. The prices of The Lover has sky-rocketed, so your humbugging it up, obviously is not shared with the majority.

You guys need to get over yourselves, seriously. Crying over how an animation of a weapon makes you want to not play. I would really like an anet person to respond to this. I am very confused as to why you made the ascended amulets purchasable only via the use of laurels, but made the rings available for purchase with pristine relics or laurels.

I just can’t fathom why this choice was made. Why weren’t amulets able to be purchased with the use of pristine relics as well? There are plenty of us who are sitting on 6+ rings from drops in FoTM dailies of 20+, and many more of us that are sitting on an excessive amount of pristine relics that have no use for them, other than to inhabit another space in our ever precious inventory.

I just do not understand why they are ONLY available with laurels. Not only that, but to release the laurels at the end of the month, when so many of us got our monthly out of the way earlier in the month, you punished us. You allowed the people whom were lax to get an upper hand with 10 additional laurels when you released it with 3 days left to accomplish the monthly. I, for one, and perturbed that you did this.

I don’t necessarily agree with the decisions, but would just like to know what the reasoning is behind some of the asinine things that have come out.

My guess is he infused a triforge pendant, because that is how most of my guildies have 35 now as of today.

It is not about a glass cannon warrior or elementalist being better than the other. It is about the player themselves. There are A LOT of bad elementalist out there, that make the entirety of our class look like idiots. My own guildies have come across individuals that say they are “dedicated healers”. Then there are the glass warriors that can not dodge for the life of them. I’ve run high level fractals where I CONSTANTLY had to help a downed warrior because they had no ability whatsoever to dodge.

So in my book, it’s neither one or the other, it’s about the players skill and how to optimize the best out of the group in its entirety. It does not rely on one single person, but the whole.

We can get get well over 3K attack just as you can. And yes, I only have 12K health, but even in my glass cannon staff build, it is easy for me to survive most situations in fractals and dungeons. Hell, dungeons at this point are on farm for me. So don’t try to puff your chest out and talk down to a person. it makes you look childish.

What is it with these types of posts from people. An excessive amount of bitterness and hatred towards players whom do, or do not buy their “elite” gear. The ever-present hate and assumptions of people “paying2win”. What’s it to you if they do or don’t decide to use real money to buy items? Not that I, personally, would do it. But that is THEIR chose to make, not yours. I guarantee that the majority of players that do not have a disposable income to “pay2win” probably would if they could. All these posts come off as jealousy, and girly whining because someone else has something you want or Gw2 isn’t “WoW” enough like. If you have more than 1000 hours of play time, there should be ABSOLUTELY no reason why you wouldn’t be close to a legendary had you have actually made it a priority. I know, because I have 725 hours, and am 24 shards away from my legendary. It was a priority, and I made it one. I sure did play the trading post and made money to buy items I needed for it. But that is part of the game. I have yet to buy gold, and I don’t, but I sure can play it and make profits daily doing it. Don’t get mad at other people, because of your perceived notion that “you did more so you deserve it more” mentality. Get over it.
