Nah studios going to get alot bigger hopefully, this huge surge in the market will hopefully make anet set for a long life with gw2… They’ll have room with their budget and things could actually get really fun within the next year, i can understand how much of a chip off of their shoulders the new budget limit will be, its a free game i can see the never ending stress they go through just trying to make it month to month off of fuzzy hats and armor skins, im really really happy for anet it means that they get to do what we all love to do, play this awesome game, thanks for all the guys at anet for what you do, no one really puts to thought what your going through without the reassurance from the cash flow of $15 a month per player that subscription mmos use tp stay afloat. you guys really do have it harder than WoW ever could you face elder scrolls online while they fall back on sub fees every month never gonna be able to do what gw has done without the subs as a crutch, you guys are truly the best, and you’ll have me and what money i can afford to give you for as long as ur mmos are around
Well we already know there’s going to be a Living Story season 2. So I fear we will not have an expansion.
What has a LS to do with no expansion ??????
If you create something like an ongoing war where you conquer new parts of the map and start building villages and economy this is what people want.
People get new permanent contend and a LS.
How nobody at A-Net thinks of that is far beyond me.
This is the problem, we expecting high budget content for nothing… We need an expansion after china release to provide them with the cash flow to get a system going with the better content
Its as simple as it gets like i said in my other thread you get what you pay for i wish gw2 had some kind of sub fee or threw expansions in our face just so that i can pay for high quality content instead of getting light temporary content thats really below expectations of a game with such a vast lore which could be compared to paying to eat at a fancy restraunt eating amazing food or paying nothing and eating free horrid tasting food out of the dumpster out back behind the restraunt. If we want that high quality content its gonna cost us and im for one supporting them however i can (long as i find something worth buying thats pretty much overpriced (but still worth buying) but u cant blame them its a free game) so that i can see that high quality content… We are the investors and the life support of the game our money given decides the size of the content, u honestly cant complain and beg for FREE content ANet is a business looking to make a profit… Its not going to give you great content for charity… They have bills too we supply their way of living they dont sit in a small room without seeing their family for days on end just to make people they will never personally know happy so the more little content we sit through supporting them as much as we can instead of being cheap seeking free or near to free content the greater the content will grow.
Its not that we expect an expansion to be the only way to get good content we just know the costs faced with dealing with producing that content i never stated that it has to be one super mega content release but i mean it can even be a small expansion that releases each season of the LS you make it sound like they can produce endless free content over longer periods of time but they’d just be losing profit that way. I have no problem supporting GOOD (key word here) content being released with my money here and there, i mean it isnt like we’re paying a subscription theres an old saying that goes You get what you pay for and it easilt applies to mmos and content release, expansions are a necessity for affording to provide decent content without flopping and shutting shop
Im sure anet hasnt completely forgotten about the players that are still here while they mad dash to china’s release, i mean thats alot of $$ they’re about to get but ive noticed anet isnt like ea usually is and actually has a heart for their community (which is the main reason i continue to play gw2 cant say anet has ever screwed me over thus far, they are one of the top teams ive ever played with im sure they’ll throw us some kind of bone while we wait on their next big move
Reason why expansions are normal for mmos because they polish up what is now known as old game WoW gets HUGE spikes of returning players every expansion while warhammer online went 3 years without a single expansion gave us LotD which is the size of the LS events and sunsetted with everyone hating the developers guts with a meteor of a flaming passion. BUT expansions can also backfire take DAoC for example, Trials of Atlantis DESTROYED the games player base causing great hate of mythic
Its the motto of almost every mmo struggling to keep players from finding new hobbys “go big or go home” or you won’t maintain a profit to keep the game afloat we arent paying monthly to keep the game going…. THEY are
The delay in any future content announces is screaming it… “You get nothing until our biggest market is on board and we need a way to keep them on board for a long time” (then comes the megaflow of content being developed (yes they’ll prob divide the costs of a growing staff and content to the people that are keeping them rich (rember its a free to play game, they get NOTHING for sitting and twiddling their fingers so they’re always busy busy busy providing what brings home the bread at the end of the day.
They could easily turn living story into expansions permanent content and the big one “NEW zones” are what expansions are, id pay the price for the expansion just for cantha or dominion or winds or crystal sands or more importantly magmuum wastes for the current ls dragon. Can u honestly blame them for slapping a small price for big content like a entire new zone? Its almost required for paying for the voice overs and the content that comes with a new zone. Remember the whole concept for any developer is "how do we rake in more money to produce a profit AND to provide future content. To put a expansion out lets say 2-3 months after the china release would for sure keep new players loyal to the game. Nothing is more important than new content to us (the players) they want to keep the game fresh for the biggest market in mmo gaming because thats where the money is
Hopefully the profit from the china release will feed directly into a near future expansion?! (They know we’ve made it completely clear its about time for us to get one) what do you guys think about the new release pooling into a massive feature content release? (And hopefully not more fuzzy hats or such lol)
Ive simply found a way for anet to relate isgarren to the tengu how can i say something that doesnt even exist yet is true or not what facts am i going to find about something that doesnt exist… Im sorry im not a developer who just posted the official lore
Id go as far as speculating that its of jotun creation (just the size of it hints to it) also “Despite their modern appearance, the jotun were once a highly advanced race, full of great spellcasters and lore-keepers before they fell through constant civil wars” its a magical floating castle with lore of old kinda fits the description. It could be a floating monument stone for all we know “They once had extensive knowledge of the stars and earth, and recorded their knowledge of them and the Elder Dragons in their monument stones, runestones, and stelae.” You could also be right about the human gods having a part of the building of it “According to Thruln the Lost, before their fall the jotun and norn were favored by the Six Human Gods and granted magic that led the races to prominence” also it connects to how the tengu came to inherit the floating fortress of knowledge… “the gods abandoned them, taking their magic away and handed it over to other races, causing the crumbling of jotun civilization.” And the rise of the tengu! Any other speculations?
Its completely believable just need anet to confirm it then give us more info on the towers/dominions past
Its neither driven from either it was driven from the curosity of the lore so i went to researching, and my research fit into place piece by piece im more wanting a new class not just a new race to play dress up with
Honestly i think i wrapped up and solved their lore on the tengu and that tower BUT the final question is, who did the ancient lost knowledge come from, who created that tower and in legacy gave the Tengu people that kind of knowledge and power? So we found out that Isgarren is the new tengu tower owner and that he relocated it out of the dominion of winds BUT who had it before him Could it of been an ancient tengu inheritance along with the land of the dominion of the wind or did it come from the ancient dwarves of old or somewhere else????
Your comments have been taken in consideration and ive deleted the hokes that ive found in my posts and filled them with something that’ll fit like the wizard being a tengu elementalist
Is there anyone who can maybe fix what holes ive had in my lore explanation i mean he is right its pretty air tight and all fits into place i didnt think about there being a Tengu elementalist until i read that the tengu was considered to be a playable character before launch i mean anet wouldnt cut out a class on a single race so they are highly suggesting that the lore can work around there being a really powerful tengu elementalist closing up that hole in my explanation of the wizard
This is completely up to Anet but they could Possibly reintodeuce the Tangu through Mordremorths living story fight as allys to the rest of the races (to help save their own butts) against the elder dragon what do you guys think
Those lore junkies who’s into the wizards tower and the dominion of wind chevk this out im slowly piecing together the lore…. The Wizards Tower was moved by a Tengu (wizard) so that the Dominion of Winds could be created… Basucally meaning the Wizard’s tower is home to Tengu. To further prove the Wizards Tower is infact Tangu controlled i take quotes from gw2 wiki, " They apparently have some ancient, lost knowledge of the Elder Dragons (an awareness of the cyclic nature of their awakening, for example), but it is not known how they acquired it." Which goes hand in hand with the developers stating that the Wizards Tower “It was once rumored to house magical tomes and artifacts.” Explaining how the tengu know about the secrets of the Elder Dragons. We will soon find out more about the tengu and the Wizerds Tower after the elder dragon living story becauae the developers alao leaked out “Steelshrike mentioned that the death of an Elder Dragon may spark renewed tengu interest into joining the other races in their fight against the dragons.” And hey oh look theres the brand new elder dragon living story coming out soon! What timing huh wink wink and finally they basically confirmed that they are working on the Doninion of Winds and the Wizards Tower by saying since the last living story update Battle For Lions Arch “During her preparations to assault Lion’s Arch, Scarlet Briar considered forging an alliance between the tengu and largos, but for one reason or another this did not come to pass. In 1327 AE, when Scarlet’s forces attacked Lion’s Arch, the tengu stationed at the Shuttered Gate retreated to within its boundaries. During the battle, any creature that attempted to approach the gate was met with a storm of arrows, regardless of allegiance” hope you guys enjoy what ive researched we should be seeing alot of tengu after the Elder Dragon living story ends
))))))) CANT WAIT ANET!!!
