Incinerator and Bolt
Before they released GW2, they said all NPC armors and weapons would be available to players (whether that be through gems or buyable armor with gold/dungeon tokens).
I’m only hoping they’ll follow through with this, and eventually will release the armors q: They look awesome!

Lets see (The following is mostly opinion btw)
Humans are the safe option. Their small size means you can see enemies telegraphing attacks more easily than a Norn or Charr. They are also good in jumping puzzles. Aesthetically they are a top tier race as all armour is designed for them; every other race’s armour is just a remoulded humans, their T3 heavy cultural gear is amazing looking too. (I would use more realistic looking greatsword like the ebonblade with it)Sylvari are similar, only with 100% more salad.
Asura are the smallest and so are ideal for JP’s and for seeing what’s going on. Their small size however makes them less ideal for looking good.
Norn are a solid choice for a warrior, they’re big and so can be made to look the most impressive of all the races. Their cultural armour is some of the best with T3 heavy being one of the best looking sets in the game I’d say. Their size does mean that they are the second hardest race to complete JP’s with due to camera issues.
Charr are the riskiest race to choose. Very few armour sets look good on a Charr however that doesn’t mean there aren’t options. Vigil, T3 heavy, plated and heavy plated are some of the best I’d say. Charr are also the worst in JP’s due to their quadrupedal running (Although this can be solved by drawing your weapons) and large bulk. It isn’t all bad for the Charr however. In combat we get quite a few unique animations for our skills, eg running perpendicular to the ground on 3 limbs as part of the greatsword rush skill, that make a Charr in combat look amazing, the snarls, roars and growls also add to the effect. Being the worst at JP’s also means you can be rightfully smug when you see an Asuran fail something you beat first time.
This pretty much sums everything up, really.
Choosing a race doesn’t impact a class too much, other than a few racial-specific elites which don’t frequently get used.
Check out http://www.gw2armor.com to see what armor looks like by race and gender. This could also help you decide what race to choose.
I’ve got a Norn Warrior. Imo, heavy armor looks really good on Norn’s, for the most part.
Hello there!
So ever since they released Solo and Team Arenas I’ve been getting players that have never played PvP before. They had no idea what to do, and didnt know those arenas were ranked. Of course I was friendly and helped them out.
The thing is, this happens frequently, and usually results in losing the match due to 1-2 inexperienced players not knowing what to do.
My suggestion: Maybe have some type of block up preventing new PvP players from jumping straight into the Solo/Team Arenas. Maybe prevent players from joining until they’ve played a specific amount of sPvP games, or reach a PvP rank. Any thoughts?
Mega bump.
Totally agree.
Gets very frustrating at times!
Well, that could be a problem.
Yes, yes, and yes!
I’ve always wanted Necros to be able to wield torches. And this weapon screams Necromancer.
Alright guys, I just finished. And after 2 1/2 hours, this is what I’ve learned and what worked for me.
- Always keep your health up as high as possible.
- Always use Bluff. Using Bluff, even when he has his boon up, will sometimes inflict less damage than when drinking the Juice.
- After he uses Belch, Belch back (in the hopes that you get lucky and stop his Heal). After, Drink Water.
- Select the Boast skill before the fight, and only use it when you get around 2,000 hp.
- Using Belch when you have less than 20% hp does more damage, so keep that in mind when using Boast or Drinking Water at low health.
Hoped this helped.
Just to quickly clarify: the zones would be instanced only in Hard Mode. Just think of the zones like GW2 dungeons without the paths.
Just a suggestion. I could see it work, personally, but that’s just my opinion.
^
I totally agree!
If you played Guild Wars 1, then you already know about Hard mode. If not, here’s a brief summary:
When your character completed a campaign, you unlocked “Hard Mode” which could be turned on before you went into an instance. When selected, any instance you entered had tougher foes and larger mobs to face in exchange for increased rewards, more valuable drops, and the opportunity for titles.
More about it on the GW1 wiki: Guild Wars 1 Wiki – Hard Mode
This could be easily implemented into Guild Wars 2:
- Hard Mode available after completion of your Personal Storyline
- Could only be activated in the main cities (Rata Sum, Black Citadel, Divinity’s Reach, The Grove, Hoelbrak) or Lions Arch, and then you enter whatever instance through a way point on the map.
- Can be played solo or with a 5-man party, and zones now become instances (like Dungeons)
- Mobs don’t respawn; once dead, they stay dead until you re-enter the zone.
- All hearts/events can be completed and are played through once and don’t appear again until you re-enter the zone. Probably would want to exclude the Dragon bosses as they are really meant for larger groups of players.
Rewards
- Receive a chest after completing a zone, similar to that of completing a Dungeon, just with more gold and higher chance of more valuable drops.
- Rare and Exotic item drops are increased in Hard Mode
- A Vanquisher title (given once all zones have been completed in Hard Mode)
What are your thoughts?
Underworld and/or Fissure of Woe in Guild Wars 2? Yes please.
Was very popular in the original Guild Wars. I’d play it more for the experience/fun in a coordinated group than for the high level-drops. Could play it with a few rl-friends for hours and not get bored.
Make it challenging! Make it force you to coordinate with your group! I know Guild Wars 2 is all about “every class can be anything”, but you can still pull off roles!
I’d love to see a Dervish or even a Dervish-like profession in GW2.
As a side note, I’ve also wanted Ritualist. Both were my favorite in the original Guild Wars, and I think having either one would be pretty sweet!
I don’t like the idea of having mounts in GW2, reason being: we have waypoints.
I don’t have a problem with mounts necessarily, but we honestly don’t need them if we already have a faster system to travel across maps.
Also having connectivity issues when opening the client.
Started to download the new patch, and the client says “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying….” Closing/reopening the client doesn’t do anything.
Seems like many people are also having this issue. I’m assuming ArenaNet knows about this and are trying their best to fix it!
