I’ve done a few dungeons since the change and I have to say, it’s a pain but not due to the lack of waypoints. Fix the resurrection system, fix your bosses and their aggro and then you’ll appease a lot more players. Takes too long to res someone and bosses get a bit too aggro happy on people you’re ressing. I’ll probably be back again if I have more feedback aside from my first post.
There are some groups who don’t skip, you just need to look for them. As has been said, there are various reasons for skipping. Either the mobs are too many and would cause a party wipe, they give no loot, or they take forever to kill. There really isn’t a lot of incentive to kill them. I personally don’t see an issue with skipping. Unlike most people if someone can’t make it through I’ll go back for them and take them through the mobs, sacrificing myself if I have to cause I know I can make it back solo. That’s if it’s “impossible” to kill the mobs though.
I get the changes, I really do. What I don’t get is the reason they would remove the waypoints before implementing other changes. For instance, ok you don’t like the lack of teamwork. But why can’t we res our party members? Maybe they’re new and they don’t know how the fight is fought. You can explain something but actually experiencing it is the best way to understand. Maybe they’re actually level 35 in a level 35 exploreable and not geared in full 80 exotic stuff. Maybe it’s a party of all elementalists who only know each other and don’t want to pug. The thing is sometimes when someone goes down, they go down and there’s no saving them.
I think most people’s major gripe with this is that instead of removing the ACTUAL issues (balance issues, hp sponge bosses, “overpowered” bosses, etc) that caused people to glitch and waypoint instead of ressing someone Anet just shut down the one method that actually gave players a chance of not wiping and being able to survive the dungeon.
I think what needs to be done is to actually test the dungeons how they were “intended” to be played. Get some people to run AC explore in an all 35 party, and the same with all the dungeons. Maybe get them some bad gear even to really emphasize what a pug is. What a person new to dungeons is. That will truly help Anet understand where the problems lie in their dungeons.
I know when I started doing explorable dungeons I did them for gear as a badly armored level 80 with my guild who didn’t particularly know exactly how the dungeons were run. It was tough but having the ability to run back saved us many times. If it weren’t for that I probably would have given up on doing dungeons. I think that’s where we’re headed now.
She bugged for me last night at the same part. Currently in the middle of it right now, she started the cannon part but will not repair them. We’re trying to kill her at the moment.
Killing her actually did work this time. She’s definitely bugged though.

The drop rate of the Badges in “actual” WvW participation is laughably bad. They should either make them a guaranteed drop for killing players or taking objectives. Or just go all the way and rename them Badges of_Jumping_!
This is precisely what I’m getting at. I hate jump puzzles, I don’t do them for the challenge. I do them for the badges. But to get them in WvW means a lot of WvW participation which I only do for my monthlies. Maybe they just need an alternate way to get them altogether.
I’m sure it’s been suggested before but it needs to be brought up again. The only people who kill in the jps are people who just want to be jerks and get easy kills. Most people consider them neutral ground and you’ll see people running them naked to indicate that they won’t attack. Problem is most people don’t care and it becomes a major annoyance. I highly doubt anyone would complain if they were neutral areas where you couldn’t build siege and couldn’t attack other players. Or another way to do it would be that you would gain a buff upon entry that grants you a speed buff and invulnerability while inside the jp granted you don’t attack another player.
Should be purchased with badges of honor, and remove badges of honor from those JP in wvw. So you actually have to be a dedicated participant in WvW to, dare I say, earn your right as a commander.
That’s kind of a lame suggestion for people who don’t care about WvW but want legendary weapons.
The only place this really bugs me is in Orr. It’s near impossible to run through any of Orr.
Easy answer to the mount request, have you looked at the npcs? Have you done those escort pack bull de’s? You see anyone riding anything? I’d say it’s safe to assume that since the npcs walk everywhere that’s what we’re going to keep ending up doing. I haven’t really played other mmos so I don’t know how mounts and the other things your requesting work in detail, but GW2 seems to work well enough without them so I don’t see much of an issue. I’d like the waypoints to be cheaper yes but that’s something that probably won’t be addressed. A LFG system would be nice though, although using the LFG website I already run into a lot of elitists….
I don’t get why you shouldn’t be allowed to swap in combat. I’m sure this has been suggested before but it’s a very easy fix. When you swap weapons in combat as an ele make attunements have the same cooldown as weapon swap upon swapping. That way you can’t be in air staff and then swap to dagger/dagger earth.
Last month I decided to get my ele a focus in my shopping spree for exotics. I hadn’t used a focus since I first created her so I’m not exactly sure when this problem first popped up. When I try to use obsidian flesh it’s like it doesn’t even register. I’ve learned the skill so I know that’s not the problem. I also cannot link the skill in chat. Since I haven’t seen anyone post this I was wondering if it wasn’t a very common issue. It’s not interfering that much since I rarely use focus but I thought it might be something that needs addressing.
Yes please revert this! It’s really strange and honestly a pain. Since it wasn’t in the patch notes I assume it was broken and not a “fix.”
I’ve never gotten how it’s unfair. Yes they’d have 40 skills but they have to swap to every single attunement they want to use. Throwing in another weapon isn’t going to suddenly make them even more overpowered.
I could go for some coo quaggans. I think most people would. I don’t care about any of the other races but it’d be nice to know more about them.
As someone who still feels bad for dragging her guild on so many TA runs I understand what you’re saying. At the same time though I feel it could be problematic for many reasons. People do get semi obsessed with achievements and like Bunmaster previously pointed out, they’ll harm the group instead of help. Even with said achievements, you’d still be running AC over and over. The one time achievements would probably only give you the same amount of tokens you can get from a bag. Maybe 10 at max.
It really is a great feeling when you finally get your dungeon gear though! If you need any help feel free to drop me a line.
This has always bugged me too. Before I finally decided on what class to put in my final character slot I’d end up making and then deleting characters. I’d have salvage kits left over I would save for the remade character when they became account bound. Then it became a pain of having odd numbers of them sitting around in multiple stacks. I know it’s a minor thing but so helpful at the same time.
I’d like to see them just seperate WvW from the 100% map completion. I realize it’s unfair to people who have already done it but it’s just kind of annoying to attempt in most cases. I’ve been waiting on one vista on one map for like a month now and my server never has it. I don’t play enough WvW to even attempt to take it so it’s kind of a pain overall. It’s not the last thing I need but it’s preventing me from even wanting to continue.
Honestly I’m curious as to why it’s not out already. Yes I know these things take time but the item is IN the game currently, as is the ability to change name since people with inappropriate names have forced changes upon login. If this is one of their most requested features (as was told to me when I inquired about it) then how come they’re holding it back? I hope we see it in the patch on the 14th!
I didn’t think to look before I started but after like 3 skill challenges my skill points remained at 28. I know for a fact they should have been at 30 and I know they were in the high 20s prior to patch. I play elementalist so not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
I’m having the same problem, and it’s frustrating. I hope you give us some kind of gift, gems, or extra space on the bank, or an extra slot for a character… You know, something for the trouble. It would be nice from you. Aside from this, it’s a very nice good game.
The gift you get is that you can keep playing the game without paying monthly. There have been numerous bugs since launch and typically the way to go around it is go find something else to do until it’s fixed. Make an alt or go explore the world some while you wait.
no need for dungeon finder want to find ppl join a guild
Try being one of the only 2 level 80’s in your guild of friends. Makes dungeon finding hard. I’m often one of those people frantically looking for a group.
I really don’t see an issue with some sort of tool to help find a group although I’ve never played an mmo with a tool like that. It just seems to make more sense. Remove some of the clutter in chat. One day I was in Ashford Plains and all I saw was talk of AC in the map chat. By that point I had already done AC so I understood, and a lot of people were probably hitting 30 round that time. But with people frantically looking for groups like that, often times beginners will ask questions that get missed in the wall of people looking for dungeon groups. I don’t see a problem with some sort of grouping system in game.
All the runs I’ve been on we’re pretty good and friendly, for the most part. I made some pretty stupid mistakes on some dungeon runs and they were so nice to me. As long as you’re with the right people I don’t see how that would change with a LFG system.
While I can see the benefit of account wide dyes, I just put any new ones I get on my necro/main and pick a color theme for alt characters. That way I won’t have to worry about getting them all cool colors. Also some of the colors I like are under a silver so it’s not that big a deal to get the again. I’ve given some spares away to my sis and used on alts and sold on TP. It’s a really exciting moment when I get a dye (and all my friends seem to have the same excitement). I think I’d be kinda sad to lose that excitement.
If/when you do the 30 dungeon I recommend having a good crew with you, and you should probably stay ranged. AC is one of the hardest/most annoying dungeons in the game, especially your first run through.
I know everyone suggested the PvP aspect, which I’ve barely delved into myself, but I’d also like to suggest crafting. You still gain exp and the exploration of tracking down new materials might take you to new areas as well.
