The latest updates (9/15/2015) has added even more to Howler’s issues. Now that the warhorn sound has been changed again, the howl isn’t working when you use your skills.

Patch is not working

The new patch still doesn’t fix my crashing issue. It downloaded to about 34% before the whole patcher just locked up. Sometimes it doesn’t start, sometimes it gives me the option to send a log to Anet (which I do) and sometimes it just stops.

I also cannot patch the game without crashing. It has happened to me in the past but usually sorted itself out but now I can find no way around it, not even a repair.

My guild just completed a guild puzzle within the time limit given and we did not receive our commendations. We submitted a bug in game but we’ve had this issue a few times in the past. We were the guild who started the puzzle, we had two people still on map when it finished, yet no bonus chest for anyone in the guild. Has anyone else had this problem and can perhaps explain how to remedy it?

I had this issue as well. I went and deleted a LOT of mail (all the ones sent to me, npc sent mail) and it popped. Of course it got deleted in my mass deleting but I still managed to get the next part to pop up.

I agree that AC has a lot of issues that need working out. Like someone else said, the problem with pretty much every dungeon is you have to know it before you can even attempt to run it. Then there are a bunch of trash mobs that you have to skip.

I mean if we really want to get down to it, dungeons in general have a ton of issues. I think what really needs to happen is a dungeon rebalance for some of the more problematic dungeons. AC could do with a thinning of the trash mobs. Same issue with CM. Anything that can make dungeons more appealing to those who don’t want to do them would be helpful.

Try deleting one or two of your mails. Even if your mail isn’t full sometimes it’ll be counted as full.

In regards to the quote Syeria posted above: aren’t display names the names we see here on the forums, not the names of our individual characters? At least, that is what I thought?

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, I am just trying to decide whether to wait or re-roll. I am patient, but not enough to wait for something that is going to be offered in the “distant” future. xD

Yes you’re right that the names displayed on the forums are our display/account names and not character names. That quote does seem to apply more to our forum names than our in game names.

As for rerolling, depends on how much you put into your character. In my case I’m pretty well geared and have world completion and legendary mats soulbound to said character. I decided to wait in hopes that the name change contract would be released soon.That being said I’ve been waiting since November or so with seemingly no news on the horizon. Especially with the release of new town clothes today lol. It solely depends on how much you want to put into releveling/regearing to change your name.

Changing names allows players to duck out of bad reputation they have build up.

I don’t see how. The account name will still persist. And it doesn’t stop someone from deleting a character to get out of this so called “bad reputation.”

And you may say why don’t I delete and remake my character if I want a name change so badly. At this point I’ve put too much work into it but I’m hating that I made a typo in her name. Bugs me to no end. The day I can fix it will be my happiest day in GW2.

I’m also very disappointed by the changes to AC. I’m kind of confused by the logic. The dungeon was doable by a 35 who knew what they were doing probably in a party of 80s. Now… not so much. The dungeon’s recommended level is 35. So what’s gonna happen when 5 people buy the game and say “oh hey, we can do this”? It’s not gonna end well. I see a lot of people say they hate dungeons. They have their reasons, I’m sure you can read their reasons. But instead of making AC “fun” the idea was to make it harder since people grind it for money or easy gear. I understand you want people to buy gold through you but some people can’t. They 100% can’t do it for various reasons. They instead chose to put in the hours of dungeon grinding to make gold. I think the aim of the game is really just to stay poor. Some days I just got an AC group together for fun. I found it fun. Now I don’t think I want to touch it again. Very very disappointed.

Urgh. They should have implemented this for the next days dailies. Resetting in the middle is completely stupid.

I was 80% done with my daily, log back on to 20%. Awesome.

Bumping my own thread since we’ve now seen a new patch add a charr backpack in addition to the quaggan one but no name change. That “highly” requested feature. I understand that telling players about these features and giving certain timelines can be a bad thing if it’s not delivered. I just kinda wish we could get a confirmation of yes it’s coming or no it’s not as important to us right now.

For months I disregarded the charr race as I hated their story and the way the females look. I had tried many times to make a female charr only to either not finish it or delete it before I truly leveled. Finally I came up with a more “feminine” looking charr that I could stick with. My mesmer is about 34 at the moment but here’s an old screen of her. I’ve named her after my cat and colored her similarly. Yes I know I’m silly.

While I would like to see laurels granted for other things I can’t agree to the overly specific dailies such as helping centaurs. If they were to require a specific zone (or set of zones) to do a daily then people would be there and only there for the dailies. That would kind of discourage the whole “go back to low level zones” thing they’re trying to do. Plus the influx of 80s would decimate those events.

As far as the dailies are concerned, they’re still very simple to get and can be done relatively quick. I’d assume you’re friends only play for an hour or less to do their dailies then sign off?

totally agree, there is no balance, there is problems.
I have run ton of dungeons from beta times, i saw how it changed , evolved. And i think skipping should not be an option. Dungeon should not get too long when you do it without skipping. there should be protections from just runing past through important parts, like in cof path where you have to rescue iron legion engineer and there is bridge before apocalyte part , people jsut run to apocalyte part.

There is problem with random party comunication, some people just dont want to comunicate, and think that others should know what to do them selfs. And if you get party where nobody talks about tactics and what they gona do – its no fun at all. Its bigest problem with randoms. Especialy when skiping mobs.

There should be awarding system for team members who control all team, help them, pull them out of trouble. Even if just a fame O_o there is some hard desitions for arenanet to do. and its hard to make all sort of people happy.

Arenanet have said in the past that skipping is an acceptable dungeon tactic so I doubt they’ll do a 180 on the topic at any point. And there’s certain things that it’s impossible to skip due to protections like the ones you mention. Using your CoF example for instance, you can’t really “skip” the save Crea part. She can however die but you don’t get the loot. I’m excited to see their dungeon overhaul and see if they can address any of the complaints towards dungeons.

I also didn’t see a pace drop in that range. I haven’t really done the 40-60 zones on my alts since I leveled my last 3 80’s off of dungeons for the most part after 35. But I’ve never seen a change in pace. The hearts maintain about the same difficulty and the zones takes just about as long to complete. Probably the main difference is the story going all over the place. Teleporting or walking someplace for your personal story can add on time that you may not want to deal with.

You can transfer a portion of your karma to your other characters by buying the new orrian jewelry boxes.

It’s not a “true” transfer in a sense. You can get the boxes from any karma vendor in Orr for 4,550 (if I recall correctly) karma. Upon opening the box you get some karma back in the form of drops and swigs and some other sizes. The thing is in order to do this your character has to be able to go to Orr so low level characters are out. That and it’s not a direct return.

I would also like to see karma account bound. It seems to make more sense.

Conjured Weapons Disappear on Pickup

This has happened to me quite often both on my ele and off. More recently though on my ele since I’ve changed sigils on my daggers. I guess when the sigil triggers it cancels my summoned weapons as well.

The problem comes from CM. Back in the day you could run CM as basically you’re “AC explore.” People would run it for money and Anet didn’t like that so they nerfed the rewards and increased the difficulty of CM. I think they actually need to tone down the room after the door guard in CM. All those mobs would very easily wipe a full 40 party who was new to the dungeon. But I digress.

I’ve hopped in parties for people who were begging to run story in map chats cause I know how much of a pain it can be to find a party. I don’t get much other than the “thanks for the party” at the end, if that sometimes. I understand why they nerfed the rewards but they have a problem similar to the old fractal problem: people don’t want to do content they’ve done for nothing. I do agree there should be some sort of reward for those who’ve done the content but hop into help someone. The tokens would be a good idea but in VERY limited quantities. If it were even close to the number you got in explore no one would do explore.

The jumping puzzles are amazing! leave them alone. They would be better if you removed all the water in them though.

That’d be a painful drop lol. One of the few times I roped a guildie into going with me I pretty much accomplished the same level of pain by somehow hitting every rock on the way down to the water as he zoned in. Surprisingly I manage that pretty often lol.

I did in fact actually read every single post.

I still feel the need to reiterate though, that despite their status as a legendary prerequisite, badges should not be available at all (and with zero exceptions) via PvE means.

Not even tower/camp/keep lords should drop badges.

You hear quite a vocal minority posting about how hard it is to get badges, but the rest of us who don’t start those whine threads are either okay with how easy it is to get badges, or think it’s too easy to get them. That there exists even a single way to get badges without actually killing other people is an insult to WvW itself.

As I stated prior to your post I get it now. This thread wasn’t a call to remove the jps but instead to understand why. Instead I get a lot of aggressive responses like this:

PvE players don’t play video games to get better. They play them to watch a progress meter slowly fill up over and over.

I don’t typically play mmos, I get bored very quickly. The fact that I’ve stuck around GW2 this long baffles me personally. But because I don’t enjoy PvP in this game people automatically assume I want everything handed to me. My original post was indeed fueled by frustration but I don’t get all the angry responses.

I think for the Gift of Battle to actually mean something (in relation to the other parts of a legendary) it has to come from participating in WvW PvP. You shouldn’t really be asking to skip a part of the game to make your legendary, unless there’s a jumping puzzle out there that awards Ascalonian Tears and Charged Lodestones so WvW players can skip dungeons (or the equivalent materials for other legendaries).

Personally I think they need to overhaul the Badge of Honor reward system in WvW before they touch badge rewards from the jumping puzzle chests. There needs to be a way to share loot tagging between groups and individual players. And a way for support builds to be eligible for more loot even with lower damage output.
On top of that they should add ways to gain badges that takes out some of the randomness, i.e. badges added to the rewards for capturing bases.

This has been brought up a few times and I wonder if there is an overhaul in coming? As it stands now there’s little reward for a non WvWer to participate if they just want badges, particularly if they’re like me. That being said it’d be a great way to pull them in if they got more badges. Not suggesting it rain badges, but an increase in percentage received.

Also if you really need 500 tears Asur I can help you get those very quickly with little pain.

Threads like this make me wish I had the patience to camp the jump puzzle.

The way I see it, neither jump puzzles, champion NPC chests, nor map completion should earn you any badges. Murder should be the only way to get badges. If that bothers you, then realize for a moment that we live in a culture of entitlement where enough whining will get you something in the long run. Just keep posting a new thread every day that the jump puzzle isn’t something you can deterministically run with little to no variance in what you face (much like dungeons), and eventually Anet will cave.

In the meantime, I’m going to keep bottling up those “Vial[s] of PvE Whiner Tears” and trade them for golem prints.

Game Breaking Features Design.

The thing I find a near game breaking feature is the idiotic forced down leveling. You never get a true feel of how powerful you have become with forced leveling between areas. This feature needs to be removed completely. The whole idea of linking levels to geographic areas is both annoying and completely illogical. Think about this for a second. You are at level 80 and you return to the area where you began the game and just because of your geographical location you are now level 1-5? Really? This system is absurd. And don’t cry me a river about how it makes the game “fair” because that is total bs. This feature could quite possibly be the game breaker for me.

I know this post is kind of “old” but really you’re downleveled to keep the game fair. There’s no way around it. How would you feel if you were leveling an alt in an event and a TRUE level 80 elementalist/guardian/thief/anything with massive aoe/damage just came in and killed everything in one hit leaving you with no credit for said event? The way it stands now you can be powerful and keep your exotic gear but still be balanced enough so you’re not 1 shotting everything and ruining the experience of newbies to the game.

That aside, I personally don’t do a lot of pvp but if someone is downed and can manage to get back up is that considered fair or unfair? It seems like it would be fair if they knew their class well enough to exit a downed state. The only place I could see this as a problem is in the case of warriors since they can very quickly exit their downed state. But even then they’re most likely going to die right after their rally.

i would go for this as long as they do the same for dungeons. just let me walk in and get my loot from the chest and along the way have loadstones laying on the ground that we can pick up. this way those of use that go into a pve zone but don’t like to pve can get our legendary weapons.

i don’t think many PvE players know how much easier it is for them to get a legendary than the guys that mainly WvW.

A guy that likes dungeons and PvE but hates PvP will get a legendary 10 times faster than a WvW player that hates dungeons

Seriously best point ever!!! I am totally with you on this one. If you want a legendary you have to work for it in ALL aspects of the game not just the ones you like. I’m not a big PvE’er and I don’t really like dungeons yet I have to suffer through them to try for my legendary. I wish people would stop complaining about the jumping puzzles because i happen to like them in the WvW zone. It’s fun to camp them and I even find it fun when others camp them and I have to try and fight through them to finish or call on members from my guild to come help fight back so i can do it. If you just want to get your badges of honor handed to you then don’t go for a legendary because that’s not the point of a legendary. They already removed siege from the jumping puzzles and I think that was enough.

They aren’t getting handed to me anyways cause I still have to complete the puzzle. I’m pretty terrible at jps.

I tell you what they should do.
We wouldn’t have all this whining about puzzle campers if they weren’t the only way to make badges fast.
Why not make 1 badge from EVERY kill, not 1-2 from 20% chance or whatever, you don’t get much from kills. Puzzles you just have to get to the end of a jumping place and wham bam 3-6 badges at 100% chance.
Drop rate of badges NEEDS to be increased since the puzzles are way faster at getting badges. The no auto-loot is a problem too, I can’t think of all the amounts of badges I left on the battlefield in the zerg fights.

I’ve seen this suggested before as well but people also feel this increased drop rate is problematic as well. I personally don’t see it being an issue but I’d like some elaboration from others as to why this is a problem.

If this were the case though I would probably not bother with the jps and just actually do WvW instead. As it stands now it’s kind of a hard thing to get into. I’ve been in a few times since I’ve done every monthly except for August (if there was a monthly then, been awhile). I usually just find a commander and stick with them. I can’t say I hate WvW, it has it’s fun points. I just don’t particularly enjoy pvp.

My main purpose in starting this topic was to understand why in a previous topic people were mad about my suggestion that jump puzzles should be neutral. Most players don’t attack in them and I typically view them as neutral territory already. This isn’t in suggestions for a reason since I simply wanted understanding which I now have. I’m past the point of questioning or complaining.

Actually you’ve been very lucky. Anywhere above T4 people will attack you and if you don’t, you’re either benefiting enemy team or feel like not fighting, in which case your enemy will try to kill you anyways.

I’ve seen guilds in my server that is dedicated to sneaky, ‘spec-op-ish’ things like keep ninjas, dolyak sniping, but most importantly camping the JP and hiding mesmers inside keeps and towers. Believe it or not JP is actually us WvWer’s largest source of siege weapons and we usually are very poor. So camping the JP is not only entertaining (with the forum open on background), but a huge plus to your team.

I’m not sure which tier I’m in cause you know, I don’t really do WvW lol. My server does pretty well though but I think they’re pretty average. They do well for the small playerbase that actually does WvW. That said I’ve run into my fair share of campers in the jps and running solo you can imagine how quickly it can become frustrating. I’ve also gotten way too much siege doing them but started giving it away today since I never use it. I don’t even like using the cannons in the PvE side.

All that aside, I understand where everyone’s coming from and I’m sorry if you thought the PvEr was trying to take away your WvW fun. I frequent the suggestion forum so I’ve seen my fair share of proposed PvE nerfs that want to make the game only playable one way. For instance wanting mobs in dungeons to be unskippable just to make runs harder for people who skip them. Or nerfing the amount of damage glass cannons do cause they make dungeon runs too easy.

You’re trying to get the Gift of Battle for your legendary, and you’re complaining about having to fight people? Go join up on a commander icon and actually play WvW. You’ll get a lot more badges, you’ll get camped a lot less, and you may actually learn how to play your character beyond press button get loot.

Just because I don’t participate in PvP doesn’t mean I don’t know how to play my character. There is a whole other half of the game that I’ve put a lot of hours into where I can assure you there is no “press button get loot” gameplay I’ve ever engaged in.

The jumping puzzle is just another fun place have some pvp. Fighting in the jumping puzzle requires more tactical thinking and is an enjoyable place to get more fights when your bored of zerg action.

I feel more strongly however towards the argument of why it should’nt be neutral ground.

The OP has stated that she only does the JP for Badges for her legendary and has no interest in WvWvW. However, Legendaries were designed with the intent that you had to do WvWvW and in my opinion making the JP a neutral ground would just allow people to avoid this area of the legendary.

You can say that you are simply not interested in WvWvW but again legendaries were designed that you needed to do WvWvW and were designed to show mastery in all areas of GW2. What about a WvWvW player who does’nt have any interest in PvE and Dungeons? Would you let them just simply walk through and not be attacked by the NPC’s? You don’t see many threads of WvWvW players complaining that they should’nt be attacked in Dungeons so why do PvE players (or players who have no interest in WvWvW) complain about being attacked in WvWvW? It would ultimately simply be unfair that PvErs get a free pass from part of the content of making a legnedary but WvWvW players don’t.

In response to the OP above saying players in WvWvW should be better geared to do PvE (i dont know how to use the quote function). How is that possible? PvE players should be able to get exotics and ascended way easier then WvWvW players with the latter not even being available in WvWvW as of yet.

As I said above I understand why people don’t want the jump puzzle to be neutral and I can see that there’s probably no way for it to be fair for players of either half of the game. Also as I stated in the op I wanted feedback as to why people wanted to keep it from being neutral.

As for the use of the word “geared” it was a poor choice. I didn’t literally mean gear as in ascended and exotic equipment. I meant more for they are in that “gear” of mind to have dodging down because they’ve fought smarter enemies. AI enemies only do so much. If you run a dungeon enough you learn the patterns and learn when to do what and where to stand. If you’re fighting another player you may know what their skills are but you don’t know what that player’s skill level is.

I avoid PvP for exactly this. I’m not competitive and I don’t like playing vs people who can’t see it as fun and not “srs bsns” and ways to enlarge their egos. There was no reason to leave a rude response. How about contributing to the topic at hand with no bias?

What’s biased about my response? I love killing glass cannon PvE warriors over and over at the entrance until they join my party and call me naughty things. It’s why I hope they never change the JP.

The JP environment is one of the most dynamic and interesting places for small scale PvP in the game. Why should they take this awesome place away from the PvPers because you are too scared to fight something that isn’t AI? Why don’t you go do all of the other JPs in the game that are inside of the PvE part of the game instead?

Like I’ve said a few posts up, I hate jump puzzles, I don’t do them for fun. I do them for badges for legendary as to get them you either have to actually do WvW, do the jps, or complete the wvw maps (again in my case). I came here simply seeking reasons as to why people didn’t want it neutral, not to be called a “carebear” because I’m not interested in killing people. The fact that you only chose to responde without contributing is why I said you were biased. As it stands I feel badges are kind of a pain to get. I’m about halfway to my gift of battle while lazily working at it. But it can be an annoyance to run into people who are just camping the jps just for the sake of camping it.

I understand people who primarily WvW get the short end of the stick when it comes to getting legendaries but let’s face it, people in WvW should be better geared to do PvE where people who primarily PvE may not be better geared (or skilled in some matters) to WvW. It’s just an imbalance that is made more evident when you go to grind out some jump puzzles that have some dudes camping it cause they can. For me if/when they’re camped I just call it a day. It has easily been the most frustrating part of getting a legendary for me.

I understand why they can’t become neutral now, but I still dislike how much the game “forces” you into WvW. I say “forces” since I don’t NEED a legendary or NEED to complete my monthly when it calls for me to get 50 kills.

Also in response to Vile, I do have a mesmer and I do carry focus. She is however only 34 and typically in a 1 mesmer versus 3 dude group my focus won’t do much.

They NEED to remove it from WvW.

Why would you let your enemy get free siege? Thats siege they’ll use against YOUR server. Thats why people camp it.

And no, badges are not hard to get, you can get 500 badges in 3-5 days of actually playing WvW if you need a gift of battle but not much can be expected from mainly PvErs.

Yeah I can understand the siege being a big component, didn’t even think about that. But siege isn’t that hard to get outside of WvW jps correct? There’s no way to make these jump puzzles “fair” is there? Can’t remove the siege cause many people enjoy the free siege. And I guess you can’t make it neutral though most players consider it so.

As for your second comment, I’ve done my share of WvW and I think prior to starting the jump puzzles I had about 40-ish badges, give or take. So you’re right, must not be very hard for a “mainly PvEr” as you call those who don’t enjoy WvW like myself.

I’d also like to see an option to disable this. Sure it’s an ok feature sometimes but when you’re in a dungeon dead (and no waypoints) it can be a pain when all you can do is watch the combat. Especially when suddenly NOPE I’m a camera and I’m panning away from what you’re watching.

i would go for this as long as they do the same for dungeons. just let me walk in and get my loot from the chest and along the way have loadstones laying on the ground that we can pick up. this way those of use that go into a pve zone but don’t like to pve can get our legendary weapons.

i don’t think many PvE players know how much easier it is for them to get a legendary than the guys that mainly WvW.

A guy that likes dungeons and PvE but hates PvP will get a legendary 10 times faster than a WvW player that hates dungeons

I understand the majority of the stuff for legendary is in PvE and there just 2 things you have to do in WvW for legendary. But what’s the reason for it not to be neutral? Because it’s unfair for someone who only likes WvW and hates dungeons? I personally hate jump puzzles because I’m bad at them. Add to that fact that I have to A.) make it to the wvw jump puzzle and B.) finish the jump puzzle without falling a million times. I personally don’t see a GOOD reason why I need the occasional C.) avoid 3-5 jerks from another server who sees you as an easy target. And I’m not just saying this for me. There are other people who feel the same. And I personally hate it when I see a naked player from another server get ganged up on in the puzzle by people from MY server. It’s uncalled for and I call them on it as well. Yes it’s a pvp zone but that one area being neutral isn’t going to effect much, if anything.

Transfer to a server like SF that is owning and will be forever due to the rating system.
Get all your alts and go do all 3 JPs and the EB one. 100 badges a day.

This also doesn’t solve the problem. I only go to my own borderland or only go to others if not outmanned. It’s not about how my server is doing, it’s about people camping for the sake of camping and picking on easy targets.

Also just pointing out I haven’t seen a strategical reason for them to not be neutral.

In my opinion, jumping puzzles have no place in WvW. Period.

Remove the JP altogether. Problem solved.

Doesn’t fix the problem though. If you’re working on your legendary and really just don’t care about doing WvW (or have the rig to run WvW) there’s no other alternative aside from map completion. But at the same time it would be unfair to suggest they remove the WvW requirements for legendaries and world completion due to all the people who have already had to struggle through all of it.

I posted a thread a good while back calling for a removal of siege in WvW jps and for them to be neutral ground. Well as of last update no more siege (yay!) but they are still attack grounds. Now in said thread I posted there were a lot of people saying no and to do jump puzzles elsewhere if I couldn’t handle the challenge. The point is I do jump puzzles for the badges for a legendary. Not for the challenge of fighting a group of people camping the puzzle for the sole purpose of trolling.

Now I know people feel you shouldn’t get badges if you don’t do WvW but this isn’t about that. This is about the jump puzzles. Why is it a bad thing if they become neutral? It’s far enough from most towers that exploiting the invincibility doesn’t seem possible. If you want your WvW kills for the monthly (if they ever do that again) there are MANY areas in which you can kill people. Is there an actual good reason for this not to be enabled? I’d really like some feedback on this from experienced WvW players.

I’ve noticed this as well, but not just with items. I’ve done this while trying to run towards someone to revive them. Imagine how much of a jerk I look like when I actually keep running right past them…

I still stand by my last post I said in this thread, reviving needs work. My group was fighting lupi in Arah last night prior to the maintenance. We hit lupi just as the warning popped that the servers were going down in 60 minutes. We never finished the dungeon, mostly because of issues with reviving. Either it was kitten near impossible to get to someone before they died, or you got to them and suddenly lupi aggroed to you and you both died, or lupi’s weird leash would take effect despite him being in combat and he reset. His leash needs to be fixed or something, there’s just a lot of annoyance in the encounter.

But back to reviving, it needs a ton of work. As people keep mentioning, you can’t dodge when in a revive. It’s slow to do and most people are too afraid to do it knowing they’ll take a risk of dying too leaving one or two people to watch as the rest of the party fights the boss. I try to res downed people all the time but there’s points where it’s very difficult or almost impossible. I personally feel that you should res someone at ALMOST the same speed regardless of whether they’re downed or dead. If someone is downed people will get them back in the fight quickly. If they’re dead it takes a longer time but for seemingly no reason. To punish the person who died? To show how much the person reviving them cares for them with their slow caresses?

And to go kind of off yet on topic here, it’s clear that some of the new dailies are trying to enforce the playstyle Anet wants in a dungeon with the dodger and healer. As far as I’ve seen though, I don’t get healer credit for reviving a downed person which is of course why we see people killing npcs or afk players to get their dailies done outside of dungeons. It’s kind of a strange choice of things to make a daily incentive when saving someone while their downed is the best (and only in some cases) way to do it when in a dungeon.

tl;dr version: reviving needs to be faster when someone is dead

Edit: I’d like to also add that I don’t see any benefit in making the dungeons any harder. As it currently stands dungeons are primarily run by people trying to get tokens for exotics or legendary gifts and whatever else. They should be able to be run at the suggested level for the dungeons (possibly in a set of “bad” armor) and by any selection of classes. Fractals are for those who want a challenge and ascended gear. As dungeons stand right now they can be pretty tough, especially for someone new to them. When you talk about cranking up the difficulty to make them more challenging you’re asking to exclude more players than are already excluded. Look at AC explore for example. It’s a level 35 dungeon which can be run by a level 35 with a bit of difficulty. Now look at the people recruiting for the dungeon who are demanding an all 80 party. Or you join and you’re 35 and you’re instantly kicked. People are already alienated enough in dungeons. People are afraid to say they’re new to a dungeon for fear of getting kicked. There’s already no margin of error due to the waypoint change so to increase the difficulty just doesn’t make any sense.

I still say they need to evaluate WHY people skip certain parts or only take certain classes. Or give more incentive to not skipping.

As far as being new to a dungeon, I end up taking new people on runs, I really don’t mind classes or whatever else. My gripe is people who won’t say anything. It takes me like a minute or two to explain how a fight goes or how something works but instead most people will just keep quiet and hope it works out. The way dungeons are currently creates a certain elitist problem, as demonstrated by the 4 warrior one mes runs of CoF. Dungeons need work overall honestly.

Eh, I’d have to disagree with this. People have their reasons for ignoring people and some people don’t touch WvW. I doubt not seeing one person’s messages are going to make or break the groups chances in WvW. Chances are that person will end up following the zerg anyways or finding some other group to fall in with.

The story overall is pretty meh to be honest. I ran through story as a mes and roped my friend in for all the Orr parts. After that and Arah I said “welp… first and last time I’m doing that.” I get my story to at least 20, maybe beyond for black lion keys and just to see the other race’s story, then I stop unless I want quick exp.

You have an out of combat weapon swap already. Just like every class in the game that wants more weapons than they can hold. It’s called keeping extra weapons in your inventory and activating them while not in combat.

ok, being less sarcastic now, I’d like to point out that eles and engineers have no real way of switching range in combat, on my mesmer I just switch to GS if I need to go long range, a DD ele is screwed, the argument that they get attunements instead falls flat in that they can all be described as “melee with x” as in, melee with burning, melee with mobility, melee with healing and melee with bleeding.

a staff or sceptre COULD act as a short range weapon, but that’s not really the point, the point I’m making is that if an ele is caught in a fight with daggers, and the fight isn’t melee friendly (hi kol) they’re really out of luck

one of the other arguments I hear is that it would make eles a nightmare to fight against in pvp. the people making these arguments have likely never played an ele before, since the ele’s playstyle is described now as “grand piano with your keyboard”, even the best pvper’s brain would melt having to rotate between 40 skills at once, especially when a single mistake is often fatal.

IMO eles SHOULD get weapon swap, and even in combat, if the weapon swap also put their attunements on CD as well

as for engineers, I really can’t think of a good reason why not to give them a weapon swap, the weapons focus on different areas, so it’s not like the damage boost would be significant

You make some very good points. Particularly the bolded bit which I’ve been saying for MONTHS.

First of all, the bag issue is kinda not a big one (not aimed specifically at you but at everyone who brings it up). The reason I say this is I carry weapons on all my level 80 characters in invisible bags. My ele and engi both have their spare weapons stowed for then they need it (as well as my necro and guardian). So the out of combat weapon swap is kinda unnecessary. I would however love to see a weapon swap on eles and to a lesser degree engi. I understand why engi doesn’t have the swap but I’d still like to see it implemented, as long as it doesn’t effect the kit swap time.

I’ve seen people say it before and I myself will say it again: Elementalists are the only class who can’t swap from range to melee mid battle. I’ve had moments where I decide to change to melee and have to stop, open the inventory, put my daggers on, and then follow my party. The problem in this is when I want to get back to staff I have to run to somewhere out of combat, wait (if it doesn’t bug) put my staff back on, and rejoin my party. That’s excluding the fact that one dagger will always end up in a random bag as opposed to my invisible bag I keep for safe weapon storage. You might say I could go scepter/dagger for melee/range combat sure. I however enjoy the ability to AoE and then move in for melee. With a second slot I’d probably do the same as I do on my necro: I run scepter/dagger and staff and swap to dagger/dagger when I want to move in for melee.

If a cool down is added to attunements upon weapon swap (I swap from staff to daggers while in water, I must wait for water to cooldown before changing elements while in dagger) I don’t see it was a problem or being “op” in any way. As mentioned, playing ele and swapping elements isn’t a simple thing. I don’t consider myself a highly skilled ele where daggers are concerned but I’ve been killed by my fair share of them. I am AMAZED when I see them. I’m somewhere in the range of 200-300 hours on my ele and I feel like I’ve only just begun to really learn how to play it. As I see it though, a weapon swap isn’t gonna break the game.

Just wondering if there is an ETA on a fix for this yet? Is it something being worked on currently, or something that will be looked at later on?

I wish I had known about this bug as well. I bought a kit last night and everything was perfect… minus the ‘no glow’. Fortunately, I was reimbursed the gems (Thank you), so now I must wait for a fix.

She looks… odd, without her glow. Blue and purple skin, bright orange glow – very obvious.

How do you receive the refund? I’ve yet to get one yet but wondering if it’s a slow day or if it’s possible I just won’t get one.

Wish I had known in advance this would screw up my glow. I was always really happy to see my sylvari glow cause I was very happy with how she turned out… now I’m very sad. I’ve submitted a ticket and am waiting for my refund and the bug fix.

This would also be useful. I haven’t noticed whether or not this item already exists. Perhaps the name change contract applies to either character name or guild name? I doubt that but it could explain why it hasn’t been added yet.
