The Guild Wars 2 authentication system is using OAuth, so that’s very likely how it’s going to be done. And that’s a good thing.
I don’t think logging would help that much. The WvW matches are so different every week due to commanders and players constantly changing. While individual commanders might have some tactics they will repeat over and over, the mix of the commanders and the different situations they will be in will make it hard to track that information and assign it accordingly.
But of course this kind of balance discussion is much more suited for the WvW forum.
I’m looking at the results now and there are multiple Success entries, so you probably just had some bad luck.
You can query the current status on the wiki now. For example Defeat the Risen Priest of Balthazar before it can summon a horde of Risen.
For information about when the event last run, somebody will have to make a database for such stuff (I saw some people already working on it).
APIs are interfaces made for programs, so it’s natural that the result is not that readable for yourself. If you don’t know what to do with it, then it’s probably safe to say that you are not the target audience for this.
Just give it a bit time and enjoy the new utilities people will come up with thanks to the API.
As per this answer JSONP won’t happen for now. CORS support is now there though.
Thanks a lot, and the feature is already live on the wiki! Any event page now allows quickly fetching its status.
Okay, alternate plan: Can you set a CORS header on the API server? I.e. send the following header for the public endpoints:
Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *
This is somewhat related to this topic. JSONP would work for me too.
Well, don’t tell me that ;P But yeah sure, that would be the better option, but I doubt we can manage that in a timely manner…
And I ideally want to integrate the API information… like… now ^^
Hey, I’m working on integrating some API information on the official wiki, but there is something that prevents me from doing so: The APIs are served via HTTPS, making AJAX requests from the wiki (served via HTTP) impossible.
Would it be possible to also serve the API over HTTP (at least the ones you have right now; I understand that more special ones that might come would somewhat need a secure connection)? Otherwise I will have to create some dummy server that prepares the data, or need to do some server-side wiki stuff.
Hey first of all: Thanks! The release of an official API is really awesome news, and I’m very excited about all the possible things that come out with these things now.
However I would really suggest you to rate limit the API as quickly as possible and get some API key mechanism out there. Otherwise I can already see the services being DDoS’ed or simply die out because of too many API requests—and I really don’t want that to happen. Introducing a rate limit will make developers to use the API in a more deliberate manner and prevent those things before they happen.
You’re seeing it wrong though. You are not paying for 550 Orichalcum picks. You are paying for the convenience to never having to buy a pick again. This convenience is already there after the first 100 uses, i.e. when you would have to buy another pick.
Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is probably not worth it for most people. But yes, there will be still people who will appreciate this offer as they will never have to buy another pick again.
Why do events always start at Noon when most people are having lunch or at work / in class?
Please keep in mind that GW2 is a world-wide game, and thanks to timezones there will always be people who will be unhappy with the times. Noon PST is actually one of those few times that work good enough with many timezones.
Also, as you said, noon is when people, like ANet, work, so it makes sense to release content during their work times so they can respond to things.
Sorry if I am being stupid but those screenshots show “buy it now” and “offers” screens – those are two different things…..
I would have loved to post a screenshot of the (empty) French sell offer list; unfortunately it is not possible as there are no sell offers—unlike in the English one, as you can see in the screenshots.
Yes, it was the same item. I know my language good enough to pick the same item in both German and English; and it was the top valued item, it’s not hard to pick that again in any other language…
Here are two screenshots from yesterday. Unfortunately, the offers in German were already fixed when I took them, so I took it in French instead: English – French

I just noticed that the Trading Post sometimes does not show offers in some languages, while they are there for others.
Just now, I was talking to a friend about the currently highest valuable item, the Volcanus, when he mentioned that he didn’t see any sell offers just buy offers although I had three sell offers.
As it turned out, the language decision made this happen. After switching my language to German, I had the same result with no offers. Switching back to English made them come back again. After testing a bit, it suddenly started working in German too, but I tested the other languages and the issue appeared there too.
I’m not sure why this happens, I would assume caching issues; but it would be really confusing if some users had different offers just because they didn’t chose English as their main language (I’m not making the assumption that the English version is always the correct one though), so I would like to see this fixed.
If an item posted at vendor +1c is not selling, that’s a pretty strong indication on the actual value of the item.
Why would I want to sell an item at value+1c? Even for something as cheap as 2c (vendor value), I would need to sell it at 4c to actually not lose any money thanks to the TP fees.
And I would agree that people shouldn’t be able to make buy offers for things below the vendor value. Nobody can sell those (the system simply does not allow it, even if you wanted), so they only distort the value overview.

I can only find notes for the 9th. Where’s today’s notes?

Also note that there is no way to remove a key from an account after you added it. So if you add the CE key to your Digital Deluxe account, you basically throw away a key. And in this case, their digital content is even the same.
So we are able to disable the email authentication now if we have problems with it or whatever. However, I would like to enable it.
I had to authenticate my login for the last time on the 1st September, after that I never got any email again and was never asked to authenticate my login attempt. I did not disable the email authentication.
I have a dynamic IP address, which changes at least once every 24 hours, and given that the authentication system is ultimately based on the IP address, I should have gotten authentication emails. Also, on Wednesday 5th, I was at a completely different (physical) location (with a different IP again), and also was able to log in without authenticating.
So obviously the email authentication was disabled for me—how do I turn it on again?
